Psalm 127
King James Version
127 Except the Lord build the house, they labour in vain that build it: except the Lord keep the city, the watchman waketh but in vain.
2 It is vain for you to rise up early, to sit up late, to eat the bread of sorrows: for so he giveth his beloved sleep.
3 Lo, children are an heritage of the Lord: and the fruit of the womb is his reward.
4 As arrows are in the hand of a mighty man; so are children of the youth.
5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them: they shall not be ashamed, but they shall speak with the enemies in the gate.

127 Cantique pour la route vers la demeure de l’Eternel[a]. De Salomon.
Si l’Eternel ╵ne bâtit la maison,
en vain les bâtisseurs travaillent.
Si l’Eternel ╵ne garde pas la ville,
en vain la sentinelle veille.
2 Oui, il est vain ╵de vous lever très tôt ╵et de vous coucher tard,
et de vous donner tant de peine ╵pour gagner votre pain.
Car Dieu en donne autant ╵à ceux qui lui sont chers ╵pendant qu’ils dorment.
3 Des fils : ╵voilà le patrimoine ╵que donne l’Eternel,
oui, des enfants ╵sont une récompense.
4 Ils sont pareils aux flèches ╵dans la main d’un guerrier,
les fils de la jeunesse[b].
5 Heureux est l’homme ╵dont le carquois en est rempli !
Il ne connaîtra pas la honte
lorsqu’il entrera en contestation ╵avec son adversaire ╵aux portes de la ville[c].

To eat the bread of toil;
For so he giveth unto his beloved [a]sleep.
3 Lo, children are a heritage of Jehovah;
And the fruit of the womb is his reward.
4 As arrows in the hand of a mighty man,
So are the children of youth.
5 Happy is the man that hath his quiver full of them:
They shall not be put to shame,
When they speak with their enemies in the gate.
