124 Que teria acontecido se o SENHOR não estivesse do nosso lado?
Que Israel diga:
2 “Se o SENHOR não estivesse do nosso lado,
quando os homens nos atacaram,
3 eles teriam nos engolido vivos,
tão grande era a sua fúria contra nós.
4 Teríamos sido arrastados pelas águas,
as torrentes nos teriam afogado.
5 Teríamos morrido afogados,
tão grande era a violência das águas”.
6 Bendito seja o SENHOR, que não permitiu que fôssemos destruídos,
como presa para os seus dentes.
7 Escapamos como passarinhos da armadilha do caçador.
A rede se rompeu e nós escapamos.
8 A nossa ajuda vem do SENHOR,
que fez os céus e a terra.

124 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, now may Israel say;
2 If it had not been the Lord who was on our side, when men rose up against us:
3 Then they had swallowed us up quick, when their wrath was kindled against us:
4 Then the waters had overwhelmed us, the stream had gone over our soul:
5 Then the proud waters had gone over our soul.
6 Blessed be the Lord, who hath not given us as a prey to their teeth.
7 Our soul is escaped as a bird out of the snare of the fowlers: the snare is broken, and we are escaped.
8 Our help is in the name of the Lord, who made heaven and earth.

1 If the Lord had not been on our side—
let Israel say(A)—
2 if the Lord had not been on our side
when people attacked us,
3 they would have swallowed us alive
when their anger flared against us;
4 the flood(B) would have engulfed us,
the torrent(C) would have swept over us,
5 the raging waters
would have swept us away.
