1 Ein Wallfahrtslied.[a]
Ich rief zum Herrn in meiner Not,
und er erhörte mich.
2 Herr, rette meine Seele
von den Lügenmäulern,[b]
von den falschen Zungen!
3 Was wird Er dir geben
und was dir hinzufügen,
du falsche Zunge?
4 Geschärfte Kriegerpfeile
und glühendes Ginsterholz!
5 Weh mir, dass ich ein Fremdling bin in Mesech,
dass ich wohne bei den Zelten Kedars![c]
6 Lange genug[d] hat meine Seele gewohnt
bei denen, die den Frieden hassen!
7 Ich bin für den Frieden;
doch wenn ich rede,
so sind sie für den Krieg.

2 Deliver my soul, O Lord, from lying lips, and from a deceitful tongue.
3 What shall be given unto thee? or what shall be done unto thee, thou false tongue?
4 Sharp arrows of the mighty, with coals of juniper.
5 Woe is me, that I sojourn in Mesech, that I dwell in the tents of Kedar!
6 My soul hath long dwelt with him that hateth peace.
7 I am for peace: but when I speak, they are for war.

among those who hate peace.
7 I am for peace;
but when I speak, they are for war.
