Psalm 118
King James Version

118 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: because his mercy endureth for ever.

2 Let Israel now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.

3 Let the house of Aaron now say, that his mercy endureth for ever.

4 Let them now that fear the Lord say, that his mercy endureth for ever.

5 I called upon the Lord in distress: the Lord answered me, and set me in a large place.

6 The Lord is on my side; I will not fear: what can man do unto me?

7 The Lord taketh my part with them that help me: therefore shall I see my desire upon them that hate me.

8 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in man.

9 It is better to trust in the Lord than to put confidence in princes.

10 All nations compassed me about: but in the name of the Lord will I destroy them.

11 They compassed me about; yea, they compassed me about: but in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.

12 They compassed me about like bees: they are quenched as the fire of thorns: for in the name of the Lord I will destroy them.

13 Thou hast thrust sore at me that I might fall: but the Lord helped me.

14 The Lord is my strength and song, and is become my salvation.

15 The voice of rejoicing and salvation is in the tabernacles of the righteous: the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly.

16 The right hand of the Lord is exalted: the right hand of the Lord doeth valiantly.

17 I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord.

18 The Lord hath chastened me sore: but he hath not given me over unto death.

19 Open to me the gates of righteousness: I will go into them, and I will praise the Lord:

20 This gate of the Lord, into which the righteous shall enter.

21 I will praise thee: for thou hast heard me, and art become my salvation.

22 The stone which the builders refused is become the head stone of the corner.

23 This is the Lord's doing; it is marvellous in our eyes.

24 This is the day which the Lord hath made; we will rejoice and be glad in it.

25 Save now, I beseech thee, O Lord: O Lord, I beseech thee, send now prosperity.

26 Blessed be he that cometh in the name of the Lord: we have blessed you out of the house of the Lord.

27 God is the Lord, which hath shewed us light: bind the sacrifice with cords, even unto the horns of the altar.

28 Thou art my God, and I will praise thee: thou art my God, I will exalt thee.

29 O give thanks unto the Lord; for he is good: for his mercy endureth for ever.

Tacksamhet för Herrens hjälp

118 [a]Tacka Herren, för han är god,
    evig är hans nåd.
2 [b]Så ska Israel säga:
    evig är hans nåd.
3 Så ska Arons hus säga:
    evig är hans nåd.
4 Så ska de
        som vördar Herren säga:
    evig är hans nåd.

5 [c]I min nöd ropade jag till Herren,
    och Herren svarade
        och gav mig rymlig plats.
6 [d]Herren är med mig,
        jag är inte rädd.
    Vad kan en människa göra mig?
7 [e]Herren är med mig,
        han är min hjälpare.
    Jag ska se i triumf
        på dem som hatar mig.
8 [f]Det är bättre att fly till Herren
    än att lita till människor,
9 [g]det är bättre att fly till Herren
    än att lita till furstar.

10 Alla hednafolk omringade mig,
    men i Herrens namn
        avvärjde jag[h] dem.
11 De omringade mig
        och inringade mig,
    men i Herrens namn
        avvärjde jag dem.
12 De omringade mig som bin,
        men slocknade som eld i törne.
    I Herrens namn
        avvärjde jag dem.

13 De stötte mig hårt
        för att få mig på fall,
    men Herren hjälpte mig.
14 [i]Herren är min styrka
        och min lovsång,
    han blev min frälsning.

15 [j]Fröjderop om frälsning
        hörs i de rättfärdigas hyddor:
    "Herrens högra hand
        gör mäktiga ting!
16 Herrens högra hand upphöjer[k],
    Herrens högra hand
        gör mäktiga ting!"
17 [l]Jag ska inte dö,
    utan leva och förkunna
        Herrens gärningar.
18 Hårt har Herren tuktat mig,
    men han utlämnade mig inte
        åt döden.

19 [m]Öppna för mig
        rättfärdighetens portar,
    jag vill gå in genom dem
        och tacka Herren.
20 Detta är Herrens port,
    de rättfärdiga går in genom den.
21 Jag tackar dig
        för att du svarade mig
    och blev min frälsning.
22 [n]Stenen som husbyggarna
        förkastade
    har blivit en hörnsten.[o]
23 Herren har gjort den till detta,
    underbart är det i våra ögon.

24 [p]Detta är dagen
        som Herren har gjort,[q]
    låt oss jubla och glädjas i dag[r]!
25 O, Herre, fräls[s]!
    O, Herre, ge framgång!
26 [t]Välsignad är han
        som kommer i Herrens namn!
    Vi välsignar er från Herrens hus.[u]
27 [v]Herren är Gud,
        och han gav oss ljus.
    Ordna er i högtidsled
        med lövrika kvistar
            fram till altarets horn.[w]

Psalm 118

1 Give thanks to the Lord,(A) for he is good;(B)
    his love endures forever.(C)

2 Let Israel say:(D)
    “His love endures forever.”(E)
3 Let the house of Aaron say:(F)
    “His love endures forever.”
4 Let those who fear the Lord(G) say:
    “His love endures forever.”

5 When hard pressed,(H) I cried to the Lord;
    he brought me into a spacious place.(I)
6 The Lord is with me;(J) I will not be afraid.
    What can mere mortals do to me?(K)
7 The Lord is with me; he is my helper.(L)
    I look in triumph on my enemies.(M)

8 It is better to take refuge in the Lord(N)
    than to trust in humans.(O)
9 It is better to take refuge in the Lord
    than to trust in princes.(P)
10 All the nations surrounded me,
    but in the name of the Lord I cut them down.(Q)

    the Lord’s right hand has done mighty things!”
17 I will not die(AC) but live,
    and will proclaim(AD) what the Lord has done.
18 The Lord has chastened(AE) me severely,
    but he has not given me over to death.(AF)
19 Open for me the gates(AG) of the righteous;
    I will enter(AH) and give thanks to the Lord.
20 This is the gate of the Lord(AI)
    through which the righteous may enter.(AJ)
