113 Louez l’Eternel[a] !
Louez l’Eternel ╵vous ses serviteurs !
Louez-le, lui, l’Eternel !
2 Que l’Eternel soit béni
dès maintenant et toujours !
3 De l’Orient ╵jusqu’à l’Occident,
que l’Eternel soit loué.
4 L’Eternel est élevé ╵au-dessus de tous les peuples.
Sa gloire est plus haute ╵que le ciel.
5 Qui est comparable ╵à l’Eternel notre Dieu ?
Dans les lieux très-hauts, il siège,
6 mais il s’abaisse pour voir
le ciel et la terre.
7 Il arrache à la poussière ╵l’homme pauvre,
du tas de fumier, ╵il élève l’indigent
8 pour le faire asseoir ╵parmi les notables,
les notables de son peuple[b].
9 Il installe en sa maison ╵la femme stérile,
et elle y connaît ╵la joie d’être mère ╵de nombreux enfants[c].
Louez l’Eternel !

- 113.1 Cet hymne célébrant la majesté et la bonté de l’Eternel introduit la série des Ps 113 à 118 appelée le Hallel. Ces psaumes étaient chantés lors des grandes fêtes israélites (Pâque, fête des Semaines, des Cabanes, de la Dédicace, nouvelle lune, voir Nb 10.10 ; Jn 10.22). Lors de la Pâque, on chantait les Ps 113 et 114 avant la seconde coupe (donc avant le repas même).

Psalm 113
Praise the Lord, you his servants;(B)
praise the name of the Lord.
2 Let the name of the Lord be praised,(C)
both now and forevermore.(D)
3 From the rising of the sun(E) to the place where it sets,
the name of the Lord is to be praised.
4 The Lord is exalted(F) over all the nations,
his glory above the heavens.(G)
5 Who is like the Lord our God,(H)
the One who sits enthroned(I) on high,(J)
6 who stoops down to look(K)
on the heavens and the earth?
7 He raises the poor(L) from the dust
and lifts the needy(M) from the ash heap;
8 he seats them(N) with princes,
with the princes of his people.
9 He settles the childless(O) woman in her home
as a happy mother of children.
Praise the Lord.

The Lord’s name is to be praised.
4 The Lord is (D)high above all nations,
(E)His glory above the heavens.
5 (F)Who is like the Lord our God,
Who dwells on high,
6 (G)Who humbles Himself to behold
The things that are in the heavens and in the earth?
7 (H)He raises the poor out of the dust,
