35 大卫的诗。
1 耶和华啊，与我相争的，求你与他们相争；与我相战的，求你与他们相战。
2 拿着大小的盾牌，起来帮助我；
3 抽出枪来，挡住那追赶我的。求你对我的灵魂说：“我是拯救你的！”
4 愿那寻索我命的，蒙羞受辱；愿那谋害我的，退后羞愧。
5 愿他们像风前的糠，有耶和华的使者赶逐他们。
6 愿他们的道路又暗又滑，有耶和华的使者追赶他们。
7 因他们无故地为我暗设网罗，无故地挖坑要害我的性命。
8 愿灾祸忽然临到他身上，愿他暗设的网缠住自己，愿他落在其中遭灾祸。
9 我的心必靠耶和华快乐，靠他的救恩高兴。
10 我的骨头都要说：“耶和华啊，谁能像你，救护困苦人脱离那比他强壮的，救护困苦穷乏人脱离那抢夺他的？”
11 凶恶的见证人起来，盘问我所不知道的事。
12 他们向我以恶报善，使我的灵魂孤苦。

恶人之罪恶
36 耶和华的仆人大卫的诗，交于伶长。
1 恶人的罪过，在他心里说：“我眼中不怕神。”
2 他自夸自媚，以为他的罪孽终不显露，不被恨恶。
3 他口中的言语尽是罪孽诡诈，他与智慧善行已经断绝。
4 他在床上图谋罪孽，定意行不善的道，不憎恶恶事。
神之慈爱
5 耶和华啊，你的慈爱上及诸天，你的信实达到穹苍。
6 你的公义好像高山，你的判断如同深渊。耶和华啊，人民、牲畜你都救护。
7 神啊，你的慈爱何其宝贵，世人投靠在你翅膀的荫下。
8 他们必因你殿里的肥甘得以饱足，你也必叫他们喝你乐河的水。
9 因为在你那里有生命的源头，在你的光中我们必得见光。

Prayer for Victory
Of David.
1 Oppose my opponents, Lord;
fight those who fight me.(A)
2 Take your shields—large and small—
and come to my aid.(B)
3 Draw the spear and javelin against my pursuers,
and assure me, “I am your deliverance.”(C)
4 Let those who intend to take my life
be disgraced and humiliated;
let those who plan to harm me
be turned back and ashamed.(D)
5 Let them be like chaff in the wind,
with the angel of the Lord driving them away.(E)
6 Let their way be dark and slippery,
with the angel of the Lord pursuing them.(F)
7 They hid their net for me without cause;
they dug a pit for me without cause.(G)
8 Let ruin come on him unexpectedly,
and let the net that he hid ensnare him;
let him fall into it—to his ruin.(H)
9 Then I will rejoice in the Lord;
I will delight in his deliverance.(I)
10 All my bones will say,
“Lord, who is like you,(J)
rescuing the poor from one too strong for him,
the poor or the needy from one who robs him?” (K)
11 Malicious witnesses come forward;
they question me about things I do not know.(L)
12 They repay me evil for good,
making me desolate.(M)
13 Yet when they were sick,
my clothing was sackcloth;
I humbled myself with fasting,
and my prayer was genuine.[a](N)
14 I went about mourning as if for my friend or brother;
I was bowed down with grief,
like one mourning for a mother.(O)
15 But when I stumbled, they gathered in glee;
they gathered against me.
Assailants I did not know
tore at me and did not stop.(P)
16 With godless mockery[b]
they gnashed their teeth at me.(Q)
17 Lord, how long will you look on?(R)
Rescue me from their ravages;
rescue my precious life from the young lions.(S)
18 I will praise you in the great assembly;
I will exalt you among many people.(T)
19 Do not let my deceitful enemies rejoice over me;
do not let those who hate me without cause(U)
wink at me maliciously.(V)
20 For they do not speak in friendly ways,
but contrive fraudulent schemes[c]
against those who live peacefully in the land.(W)
21 They open their mouths wide against me and say,
“Aha, aha! We saw it!” [d](X)
22 You saw it, Lord; do not be silent.
Lord, do not be far from me.(Y)
23 Wake up and rise to my defense,
to my cause, my God and my Lord!(Z)
24 Vindicate me, Lord my God,
in keeping with your righteousness,
and do not let them rejoice over me.(AA)
25 Do not let them say in their hearts,
“Aha! Just what we wanted.”
Do not let them say,
“We have swallowed him up!” (AB)
26 Let those who rejoice at my misfortune
be disgraced and humiliated;
let those who exalt themselves over me

27 Let those who want my vindication
shout for joy and be glad;

“The Lord be exalted.

Human Wickedness and God’s Love

1 An oracle within my heart
concerning the transgression of the wicked person:
Dread of God has no effect on him.[e](AF)
2 For with his flattering opinion of himself,
he does not discover and hate his iniquity.(AG)
3 The words from his mouth are malicious and deceptive;(AH)
he has stopped acting wisely and doing good.(AI)
4 Even on his bed he makes malicious plans.(AJ)
He sets himself on a path that is not good,
and he does not reject evil.(AK)
5 Lord, your faithful love reaches to heaven,
your faithfulness to the clouds.(AL)
6 Your righteousness is like the highest mountains,
your judgments like the deepest sea.(AM)
Lord, you preserve people and animals.(AN)
7 How priceless your faithful love is, God!
People take refuge in the shadow of your wings.(AO)

Appeal to Caesar
25 Three days after Festus arrived in the province, he went up to Jerusalem from Caesarea.(A) 2 The chief priests and the leaders of the Jews presented their case against Paul to him; and they appealed,(B) 3 asking for a favor against Paul, that Festus summon him to Jerusalem. They were, in fact, preparing an ambush along the road to kill him. 4 Festus, however, answered that Paul should be kept at Caesarea, and that he himself was about to go there shortly.(C) 5 “Therefore,” he said, “let those of you who have authority go down with me and accuse him, if he has done anything wrong.”
6 When he had spent not more than eight or ten days among them, he went down to Caesarea. The next day, seated at the tribunal, he commanded Paul to be brought in.(D) 7 When he arrived, the Jews who had come down from Jerusalem stood around him and brought many serious charges that they were not able to prove.(E) 8 Then Paul made his defense: “Neither against the Jewish law,(F) nor against the temple, nor against Caesar have I sinned in any way.”
9 But Festus, wanting to do the Jews a favor,(G) replied to Paul, “Are you willing to go up to Jerusalem to be tried before me there on these charges?”
10 Paul replied, “I am standing at Caesar’s tribunal, where I ought to be tried. I have done no wrong to the Jews, as even you yourself know very well. 11 If then I did anything wrong and am deserving of death, I am not trying to escape death; but if there is nothing to what these men accuse me of, no one can give me up to them. I appeal to Caesar!” (H)
12 Then after Festus conferred with his council, he replied, “You have appealed to Caesar; to Caesar you will go.”
King Agrippa and Bernice Visit Festus
13 Several days later, King Agrippa and Bernice arrived in Caesarea and paid a courtesy call on Festus. 14 Since they were staying there several days, Festus presented Paul’s case to the king, saying, “There’s a man who was left as a prisoner by Felix. 15 When I was in Jerusalem, the chief priests and the elders of the Jews presented their case and asked that he be condemned.(I) 16 I answered them that it is not the Roman custom to give someone up[a] before the accused faces the accusers and has an opportunity for a defense against the charges.(J) 17 So when they had assembled here, I did not delay. The next day I took my seat at the tribunal and ordered the man to be brought in. 18 The accusers stood up but brought no charge against him of the evils I was expecting. 19 Instead they had some disagreements(K) with him about their own religion and about a certain Jesus, a dead man Paul claimed to be alive. 20 Since I was at a loss in a dispute over such things, I asked him if he wanted to go to Jerusalem and be tried there regarding these matters. 21 But when Paul appealed to be held for trial by the Emperor,[b] I ordered him to be kept in custody until I could send him to Caesar.”
22 Agrippa said to Festus, “I would like to hear the man myself.”
“Tomorrow you will hear him,” he replied.(L)

23 So the next day, Agrippa and Bernice(M) came with great pomp and entered the auditorium with the military commanders and prominent men of the city. When Festus gave the command, Paul was brought in. 24 Then Festus said, “King Agrippa and all men present with us, you see this man. The whole Jewish community has appealed to me concerning him, both in Jerusalem and here, shouting that he should not live any longer.(N) 25 I found that he had not done anything deserving of death, but when he himself appealed to the Emperor, I decided to send him.(O) 26 I have nothing definite to write to my lord about him. Therefore, I have brought him before all of you, and especially before you, King Agrippa, so that after this examination is over, I may have something to write. 27 For it seems unreasonable to me to send a prisoner without indicating the charges against him.”
