³ For we are the circumcision,^(A) the ones who worship by the Spirit^(B) of God, boast in Christ Jesus,^(C) and do not put confidence in the flesh— ⁴ although I have reasons for confidence in the flesh. If anyone else thinks he has grounds for confidence in the flesh, I have more: ⁵ circumcised the eighth day;^(D) of the nation of Israel,^(E) of the tribe of Benjamin,^(F) a Hebrew born of Hebrews; regarding the law,^(G) a Pharisee; ⁶ regarding zeal,^(H) persecuting^(I) the church; regarding the righteousness that is in the law,^(J) blameless.^(K)

⁷ But everything that was a gain to me, I have considered to be a loss because of Christ. ⁸ More than that, I also consider everything to be a loss in view of the surpassing value^(L) of knowing Christ^(M) Jesus my Lord. Because of him I have suffered the loss of all things and consider them as dung, so that I may gain Christ^{(N) 9} and be found in him, not having a righteousness of my own from the law,^(O) but one that is through faith in Christ^[a]—the righteousness from God based on faith.^(P)

²⁸ For we conclude that a person is justified by faith apart from the works of the law.^{(A) 29} Or is God the God of Jews only?^(B) Is he not the God of Gentiles too? Yes, of Gentiles too, ³⁰ since there is one God^(C) who will justify the circumcised by faith^(D) and the uncircumcised through faith. ³¹ Do we then nullify the law through faith? Absolutely not!^(E) On the contrary, we uphold the law.^(F)
