我所想念亲爱的弟兄们,你们就是我的喜乐、我的冠冕。所以,亲爱的,你们应当靠着主站立得稳。

劝勉

我劝友阿嫡,也劝循都基,要在主里有同样的思想。 我真诚的同道啊,我也求你帮助她们。这两个女人,还有革利免和其余的同工,都跟我在福音的事工上一同劳苦,他们的名字都在生命册上。

你们要靠着主常常喜乐,我再说,你们要喜乐。 要使大家看出你们谦和的心。主已经近了。 应当毫无忧虑,只要凡事借着祷告祈求,带着感恩的心,把你们所要的告诉 神。 这样, 神所赐超过人能了解的平安,必在基督耶稣里,保守你们的心思意念。

最后,弟兄们,凡是真实的、庄重的、公正的、纯洁的、可爱的、声誉好的,无论是甚么美德,甚么称赞,这些事你们都应当思念。 你们在我身上所学习、所领受、所听见、所看见的,这些事你们都应当实行;那么,赐平安的 神就必与你们同在。

凡事知足的秘诀

10 我在主里大大地喜乐,因为你们现在又再想起我来;其实你们一向都在想念我,只是没有机会表示。 11 我并不是因为缺乏才这样说:我已经学会了,无论在甚么情况之下都可以知足。 12 我知道怎样处卑贱,也知道怎样处富裕;我已经得了秘诀,无论在任何情况之下,或是饱足,或是饥饿,或是富裕,或是缺乏,都可以知足。 13 我靠着那加给我能力的,凡事都能作。 14 然而,你们一同分担了我的患难,实在是好的。

腓立比信徒的馈送

15 腓立比的弟兄们,你们也知道,在我传福音的初期,离开马其顿的时候,除了你们以外,我没有收过任何教会的供给。 16 我在帖撒罗尼迦的时候,你们还是一而再把我所需用的送来。 17 我并不求礼物,只求你们的果子不断增加,归在你们的帐上。 18 你们所送的我都全数收到了,而且绰绰有余;我已经足够了,因我从以巴弗提收到你们所送的,好象馨香之气,是 神所接纳所喜悦的祭物。 19 我的 神必照他在基督耶稣里荣耀的丰富,满足你们的一切需要。 20 愿荣耀归给我们的父 神,直到永远。阿们。

So then, my dearly loved and longed for brothers and sisters, my joy and crown,(A) in this manner stand firm(B) in the Lord, dear friends.

Practical Counsel

I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche to agree in the Lord. Yes, I also ask you, true partner,[a] to help these women who have contended for the gospel at my side, along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers whose names are in the book of life. Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice! Let your graciousness[b] be known to everyone. The Lord is near.(C) Don’t worry about anything, but in everything, through prayer and petition with thanksgiving, present your requests to God. And the peace of God, which surpasses(D) all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds in Christ Jesus.(E)

Finally[c] brothers and sisters, whatever is true,(F) whatever is honourable,(G) whatever is just,(H) whatever is pure,(I) whatever is lovely, whatever is commendable – if there is any moral excellence(J) and if there is anything praiseworthy – dwell on these things. Do what you have learned and received(K) and heard from me, and seen in me, and the God of peace will be with you.

Appreciation of Support

10 I rejoiced in the Lord greatly because once again(L) you renewed your care for me.(M) You were, in fact, concerned about me but lacked the opportunity to show it. 11 I don’t say this out of need, for I have learned to be content in whatever circumstances I find myself. 12 I know how to make do with little, and I know how to make do with a lot.(N) In any and all circumstances I have learned the secret of being content – whether well fed or hungry, whether in abundance or in need. 13 I am able to do all things through him[d] who strengthens me.(O) 14 Still, you did well by partnering with me in my hardship.

15 And you Philippians(P) know that in the early days of the gospel,(Q) when I left Macedonia,(R) no church shared with me in the matter of giving and receiving except you alone. 16 For even in Thessalonica(S) you sent gifts for my need(T) several times. 17 Not that I seek the gift, but I seek the profit[e](U) that is increasing to your account. 18 But I have received everything in full,(V) and I have an abundance. I am fully supplied,[f] having received from Epaphroditus(W) what you provided – a fragrant offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing(X) to God. 19 And my God(Y) will supply all your needs according to his riches in glory in Christ Jesus. 20 Now to our God and Father(Z) be glory for ever and ever.(AA) Amen.(AB)

Final Greetings

21 Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brothers who are with me send you greetings. 22 All the saints send you greetings, especially those who belong to Caesar’s(AC) household.(AD) 23 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirit.[g](AE)

Stand firm in the Lord

Therefore, my brothers and sisters whom I love and miss, who are my joy and crown, stand firm in the Lord.

Loved ones, I urge Euodia and I urge Syntyche to come to an agreement in the Lord. Yes, and I’m also asking you, loyal friend, to help these women who have struggled together with me in the ministry of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my coworkers whose names are in the scroll of life.

Be glad in the Lord always! Again I say, be glad! Let your gentleness show in your treatment of all people. The Lord is near. Don’t be anxious about anything; rather, bring up all of your requests to God in your prayers and petitions, along with giving thanks. Then the peace of God that exceeds all understanding will keep your hearts and minds safe in Christ Jesus.

From now on, brothers and sisters, if anything is excellent and if anything is admirable, focus your thoughts on these things: all that is true, all that is holy, all that is just, all that is pure, all that is lovely, and all that is worthy of praise. Practice these things: whatever you learned, received, heard, or saw in us. The God of peace will be with you.

Paul’s thanks for gifts

10 I was very glad in the Lord because now at last you have shown concern for me again. (Of course you were always concerned but had no way to show it.) 11 I’m not saying this because I need anything, for I have learned how to be content in any circumstance. 12 I know the experience of being in need and of having more than enough; I have learned the secret to being content in any and every circumstance, whether full or hungry or whether having plenty or being poor. 13 I can endure all these things through the power of the one who gives me strength. 14 Still, you have done well to share my distress.

15 You Philippians know from the time of my first mission work in Macedonia how no church shared in supporting my ministry except you. 16 You sent contributions repeatedly to take care of my needs even while I was in Thessalonica. 17 I’m not hoping for a gift, but I am hoping for a profit that accumulates in your account. 18 I now have plenty and it is more than enough. I am full to overflowing because I received the gifts that you sent from Epaphroditus. Those gifts give off a fragrant aroma, an acceptable sacrifice that pleases God. 19 My God will meet your every need out of his riches in the glory that is found in Christ Jesus. 20 Let glory be given to God our Father forever and always. Amen.

Final greeting

21 Greet all God’s people in Christ Jesus. The brothers and sisters with me send you their greeting. 22 All God’s people here, especially those in Caesar’s household, send you their greeting. 23 The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ be with your spirits.

¶ Therefore, my brethren dearly beloved and longed for, my joy and crown, so stand fast in the Lord, my dearly beloved.

I beseech Euodias and beseech Syntyche, that they be of the same mind in the Lord.

And I intreat thee also, true yokefellow, help those women who laboured with me in the gospel, with Clement also and with my other fellowlabourers, whose names are in the book of life.

Rejoice in the Lord always, and again I say, Rejoice.

Let your moderation be known unto all men. The Lord is near.

Be anxious for nothing, but in every thing by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known unto God.

And the peace of God, which passes all understanding, shall keep your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus.

Finally, brethren, whatever things are true, whatever things are honest, whatever things are just, whatever things are pure, whatever things are lovely, whatever things are of good report, if there is any virtue and if there is any praise, exercise yourselves in these things.

Those things, which ye have both learned and received and heard and seen in me, do, and the God of peace shall be with you.

11 Not that I speak in respect of want, for I have learned, in whatever state I am, to be content.

12 I know both how to be humbled, and I know how to have an abundance; in everything and by all things I am instructed, both to be full and to be hungry, both to abound and to suffer need.

13 I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me.

14 Notwithstanding ye have done well, that ye did communicate with my tribulation.

15 Now ye Philippians know also that in the beginning of the gospel when I departed from Macedonia, no congregation {Gr. ekklesia – called out ones} communicated with me as concerning giving and receiving, but ye only.

16 For even in Thessalonica ye sent once and again unto my necessity.

17 Not because I desire a gift, but I desire fruit that may abound to your account.

18 But I have all and abound; I am full, having received of Epaphroditus the things which were sent from you, an odour of a sweet smell, a sacrifice acceptable, wellpleasing to God.

19 But my God shall supply all your need according to his riches in glory by Christ Jesus.

20 ¶ Now unto God and our Father be glory for ever and ever. Amen.

21 Greet every saint in Christ Jesus. The brethren who are with me greet you.

22 All the saints greet you, chiefly those that are of the Caesar’s household.

23 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all. Amen.

Closing Appeal for Steadfastness and Unity

Therefore, my brothers and sisters, you whom I love and long for,(A) my joy and crown, stand firm(B) in the Lord in this way, dear friends!

I plead with Euodia and I plead with Syntyche to be of the same mind(C) in the Lord. Yes, and I ask you, my true companion, help these women since they have contended at my side in the cause of the gospel, along with Clement and the rest of my co-workers,(D) whose names are in the book of life.(E)

Final Exhortations

Rejoice in the Lord always. I will say it again: Rejoice!(F) Let your gentleness be evident to all. The Lord is near.(G) Do not be anxious about anything,(H) but in every situation, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present your requests to God.(I) And the peace of God,(J) which transcends all understanding,(K) will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus.

Finally, brothers and sisters, whatever is true, whatever is noble, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is admirable—if anything is excellent or praiseworthy—think about such things. Whatever you have learned or received or heard from me, or seen in me—put it into practice.(L) And the God of peace(M) will be with you.

Thanks for Their Gifts

I am amply supplied, now that I have received from Epaphroditus(Z) the gifts you sent. They are a fragrant(AA) offering, an acceptable sacrifice, pleasing to God. 19 And my God will meet all your needs(AB) according to the riches of his glory(AC) in Christ Jesus.

20 To our God and Father(AD) be glory for ever and ever. Amen.(AE)
