为门徒祈求感谢
3 我每逢想念你们，就感谢我的神； 4 每逢为你们众人祈求的时候，常是欢欢喜喜地祈求。 5 因为从头一天直到如今，你们是同心合意地兴旺福音。 6 我深信那在你们心里动了善工的必成全这工，直到耶稣基督的日子。 7 我为你们众人有这样的意念原是应当的，因你们常在我心里，无论我是在捆锁之中，是辩明证实福音的时候，你们都与我一同得恩。 8 我体会基督耶稣的心肠，切切地想念你们众人，这是神可以给我作见证的。 9 我所祷告的，就是要你们的爱心在知识和各样见识上多而又多， 10 使你们能分别是非[a]，做诚实无过的人，直到基督的日子； 11 并靠着耶稣基督结满了仁义的果子，叫荣耀称赞归于神。
保罗因捆锁兴旺福音
12 弟兄们，我愿意你们知道，我所遭遇的事更是叫福音兴旺， 13 以致我受的捆锁在御营全军和其余的人中，已经显明是为基督的缘故； 14 并且那在主里的弟兄，多半因我受的捆锁就笃信不疑，越发放胆传神的道，无所惧怕。 15 有的传基督是出于嫉妒纷争，也有的是出于好意。 16 这一等是出于爱心，知道我是为辩明福音设立的； 17 那一等传基督是出于结党，并不诚实，意思要加增我捆锁的苦楚。 18 这有何妨呢？或是假意，或是真心，无论怎样，基督究竟被传开了。为此我就欢喜，并且还要欢喜。 19 因为我知道，这事借着你们的祈祷和耶稣基督之灵的帮助，终必叫我得救。 20 照着我所切慕、所盼望的，没有一事叫我羞愧，只要凡事放胆，无论是生是死，总叫基督在我身上照常显大。
活着就是基督死了就有益处
21 因我活着就是基督，我死了就有益处。 22 但我在肉身活着，若成就我工夫的果子，我就不知道该挑选什么。 23 我正在两难之间，情愿离世与基督同在，因为这是好得无比的； 24 然而我在肉身活着，为你们更是要紧的。 25 我既然这样深信，就知道仍要住在世间，且与你们众人同住，使你们在所信的道上又长进又喜乐， 26 叫你们在基督耶稣里的欢乐因我再到你们那里去，就越发加增。 27 只要你们行事为人与基督的福音相称，叫我或来见你们，或不在你们那里，可以听见你们的景况，知道你们同有一个心志，站立得稳，为所信的福音齐心努力， 28 凡事不怕敌人的惊吓，这是证明他们沉沦、你们得救，都是出于神。 29 因为你们蒙恩，不但得以信服基督，并要为他受苦。 30 你们的争战，就与你们在我身上从前所看见、现在所听见的一样。

Hälsning

Till alla de heliga i Kristus Jesus i Filippi, och till ledarna och tjänarna.
2 Nåd och frid från Gud, vår Fader, och Herren Jesus Kristus.
Paulus ber för församlingen
3 Jag tackar min Gud varje gång jag tänker på er, 4 alltid, när jag ber för er alla. Jag ber för er med glädje, 5 eftersom ni har varit med i arbetet för evangeliet från första början ända tills nu. 6 Och jag är övertygad om att han ska slutföra det goda verk han har börjat i er, fram till Kristus Jesus dag.
7 Det är med rätta jag tänker så om er alla, för ni finns i mitt hjärta. Både nu när jag sitter i fängelse, och när jag försvarar och befäster evangeliet, delar ni alla nåden med mig. 8 Gud kan intyga att jag längtar efter er med en sådan ömhet som bara Kristus Jesus kan ge.
9 Och jag ber att er kärlek ska växa och ge er alltmer insikt och förstånd, 10 så att ni kan avgöra vad som är bäst och vara rena och klanderfria fram till Kristus dag, 11 fyllda av den rättfärdighet som är resultatet av det verk som Jesus Kristus utfört i er, så att Gud blir ärad och hyllad.
Beredd att dö för Kristus
12 Syskon, jag vill att ni ska veta att det som hänt mig faktiskt har bidragit till evangeliets framgång. 13 Alla här – inklusive soldaterna från det kejserliga gardet – vet nu att jag sitter fängslad för Kristus skull.[b] 14 De flesta av de troende har också genom min fångenskap fått en ännu starkare tro på Herren och sprider nu budskapet från Gud utan minsta rädsla.
15 En del förkunnar visserligen Kristus av avundsjuka och rivalitet. Men andra har rena motiv, 16 och de gör det av kärlek, eftersom de vet att jag har fått i uppdrag att försvara evangeliet. 17 De förstnämnda förkunnar Kristus av själviska, orena motiv, och tror att de kan göra det svårare för mig här i fängelset. 18 Men vad spelar det för roll? Vilka motiv de nu än har – falska eller sanna – så sprids i alla fall budskapet om Kristus, och det gör mig glad.
Ja, jag tänker fortsätta att glädja mig, 19 för jag vet att detta kommer att resultera i min räddning, tack vare era böner och hjälpen från Jesus Kristus Ande. 20 Men jag förväntar mig och hoppas att jag aldrig ska behöva komma på skam, utan att jag frimodigt, nu som alltid, ska ära Kristus med min kropp, vare sig jag får leva eller måste dö. 21 Livet är ju för mig Kristus och döden en vinst. 22 Men om ett fortsatt liv i den här kroppen ger mig fler möjligheter till ett fruktbart arbete, då vet jag inte vad jag föredrar. 23 Jag dras åt båda hållen: jag längtar efter att få bryta upp och vara hos Kristus, vilket vore bättre. 24 Men för er är det viktigare att jag lever kvar här. 25 Det är jag övertygad om, och därför vet jag också att jag ska stanna kvar hos er alla, så att ni kan växa och få ännu mer glädje i tron. 26 När jag sedan kommer tillbaka till er, har ni ännu större skäl att vara stolta över Kristus Jesus för min skull.
Lev så som Kristus gjorde
27 Lev nu bara på ett sätt som är värdigt evangeliet om Kristus. Antingen jag är på besök hos er eller är någon annanstans, vill jag höra att ni står fasta och är eniga i en och samma ande, så att ni sida vid sida kämpar för tron på evangeliet. 28 Var aldrig någonsin rädda för era motståndare. Det blir ett tecken för dem att de är på väg att gå förlorade, medan ni ska bli räddade av Gud. 29 Ni har ju fått nåden inte bara att tro på Kristus, utan också att lida för honom. 30 Ni och jag har samma kamp att utkämpa, som ni såg att jag hade och som jag fortfarande har.[c]

2 Grace and peace to you from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.(F)
Thanksgiving and Prayer
3 I thank my God every time I remember you.(G) 4 In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray(H) with joy 5 because of your partnership(I) in the gospel from the first day(J) until now, 6 being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion(K) until the day of Christ Jesus.(L)
7 It is right(M) for me to feel this way about all of you, since I have you in my heart(N) and, whether I am in chains(O) or defending(P) and confirming the gospel, all of you share in God’s grace with me. 8 God can testify(Q) how I long for all of you with the affection of Christ Jesus.
9 And this is my prayer: that your love(R) may abound more and more in knowledge and depth of insight,(S) 10 so that you may be able to discern what is best and may be pure and blameless for the day of Christ,(T) 11 filled with the fruit of righteousness(U) that comes through Jesus Christ—to the glory and praise of God.
Paul’s Chains Advance the Gospel
12 Now I want you to know, brothers and sisters,[b] that what has happened to me has actually served to advance the gospel. 13 As a result, it has become clear throughout the whole palace guard[c] and to everyone else that I am in chains(V) for Christ. 14 And because of my chains,(W) most of the brothers and sisters have become confident in the Lord and dare all the more to proclaim the gospel without fear.(X)
15 It is true that some preach Christ out of envy and rivalry, but others out of goodwill. 16 The latter do so out of love, knowing that I am put here for the defense of the gospel.(Y) 17 The former preach Christ out of selfish ambition,(Z) not sincerely, supposing that they can stir up trouble for me while I am in chains.(AA) 18 But what does it matter? The important thing is that in every way, whether from false motives or true, Christ is preached. And because of this I rejoice.
Yes, and I will continue to rejoice, 19 for I know that through your prayers(AB) and God’s provision of the Spirit of Jesus Christ(AC) what has happened to me will turn out for my deliverance.[d](AD) 20 I eagerly expect(AE) and hope that I will in no way be ashamed, but will have sufficient courage(AF) so that now as always Christ will be exalted in my body,(AG) whether by life or by death.(AH) 21 For to me, to live is Christ(AI) and to die is gain. 22 If I am to go on living in the body, this will mean fruitful labor for me. Yet what shall I choose? I do not know! 23 I am torn between the two: I desire to depart(AJ) and be with Christ,(AK) which is better by far; 24 but it is more necessary for you that I remain in the body. 25 Convinced of this, I know that I will remain, and I will continue with all of you for your progress and joy in the faith, 26 so that through my being with you again your boasting in Christ Jesus will abound on account of me.
Life Worthy of the Gospel
27 Whatever happens, conduct yourselves in a manner worthy(AL) of the gospel of Christ. Then, whether I come and see you or only hear about you in my absence, I will know that you stand firm(AM) in the one Spirit,[e] striving together(AN) as one for the faith of the gospel 28 without being frightened in any way by those who oppose you. This is a sign to them that they will be destroyed, but that you will be saved—and that by God. 29 For it has been granted to you(AO) on behalf of Christ not only to believe in him, but also to suffer(AP) for him, 30 since you are going through the same struggle(AQ) you saw(AR) I had, and now hear(AS) that I still have.

1 Paul and Timotheus, the servants of Jesus Christ, to all the saints in Christ Jesus which are at Philippi, with the bishops and deacons:
2 Grace be unto you, and peace, from God our Father, and from the Lord Jesus Christ.
3 I thank my God upon every remembrance of you,
4 Always in every prayer of mine for you all making request with joy,
5 For your fellowship in the gospel from the first day until now;
6 Being confident of this very thing, that he which hath begun a good work in you will perform it until the day of Jesus Christ:
7 Even as it is meet for me to think this of you all, because I have you in my heart; inasmuch as both in my bonds, and in the defence and confirmation of the gospel, ye all are partakers of my grace.
8 For God is my record, how greatly I long after you all in the bowels of Jesus Christ.
9 And this I pray, that your love may abound yet more and more in knowledge and in all judgment;
10 That ye may approve things that are excellent; that ye may be sincere and without offence till the day of Christ.
11 Being filled with the fruits of righteousness, which are by Jesus Christ, unto the glory and praise of God.
12 But I would ye should understand, brethren, that the things which happened unto me have fallen out rather unto the furtherance of the gospel;
13 So that my bonds in Christ are manifest in all the palace, and in all other places;
14 And many of the brethren in the Lord, waxing confident by my bonds, are much more bold to speak the word without fear.
15 Some indeed preach Christ even of envy and strife; and some also of good will:
16 The one preach Christ of contention, not sincerely, supposing to add affliction to my bonds:
17 But the other of love, knowing that I am set for the defence of the gospel.
18 What then? notwithstanding, every way, whether in pretence, or in truth, Christ is preached; and I therein do rejoice, yea, and will rejoice.
19 For I know that this shall turn to my salvation through your prayer, and the supply of the Spirit of Jesus Christ,
20 According to my earnest expectation and my hope, that in nothing I shall be ashamed, but that with all boldness, as always, so now also Christ shall be magnified in my body, whether it be by life, or by death.
21 For to me to live is Christ, and to die is gain.
22 But if I live in the flesh, this is the fruit of my labour: yet what I shall choose I wot not.
23 For I am in a strait betwixt two, having a desire to depart, and to be with Christ; which is far better:
24 Nevertheless to abide in the flesh is more needful for you.
25 And having this confidence, I know that I shall abide and continue with you all for your furtherance and joy of faith;
26 That your rejoicing may be more abundant in Jesus Christ for me by my coming to you again.
27 Only let your conversation be as it becometh the gospel of Christ: that whether I come and see you, or else be absent, I may hear of your affairs, that ye stand fast in one spirit, with one mind striving together for the faith of the gospel;
28 And in nothing terrified by your adversaries: which is to them an evident token of perdition, but to you of salvation, and that of God.
29 For unto you it is given in the behalf of Christ, not only to believe on him, but also to suffer for his sake;
30 Having the same conflict which ye saw in me, and now hear to be in me.
