New King James Version
8 The Lord has [a]purposed to destroy
The (A)wall of the daughter of Zion.
(B)He has stretched out a line;

Therefore He has caused the rampart and wall to lament;
They languished together.
9 Her gates have sunk into the ground;
He has destroyed and (C)broken her bars.
(D)Her king and her princes are among the [b]nations;
(E)The Law is no more,
And her (F)prophets find no [c]vision from the Lord.
10 The elders of the daughter of Zion
(G)Sit on the ground and keep silence;
[d]They (H)throw dust on their heads
And (I)gird themselves with sackcloth.
The virgins of Jerusalem
Bow their heads to the ground.
