耶路撒冷的罪
5 耶和华说：
“你们在耶路撒冷街头四处看看，
在广场找找，
如果你们能找到一个公正诚实的人，
我就赦免这城。
2 虽然他们凭永活的耶和华起誓，
却口是心非。”
3 耶和华啊，你要的不是诚实吗？
你责打他们，他们不感到疼痛；
你严惩他们，他们仍不受教。
他们屡教不改，
脸比石头还硬。
4 我想：“他们贫穷、愚昧，
不明白他们上帝耶和华的道，
也不知道祂的法令。
5 我要找他们的首领说话，
因为这些首领明白耶和华的道，
知道他们上帝的法令。”
然而，他们却一致违背耶和华的律法，
不服从祂的法令。
6 因此，林中的狮子必袭击他们，
荒野的豺狼必残害他们，
豹子也蹲伏在他们的城外，
伺机撕裂出城的人，
因为他们罪大恶极，屡屡叛道。
7 耶和华说：
“耶路撒冷啊，我怎能赦免你呢？
你的儿女背弃我，
凭假神起誓。
我供应他们的一切需要，
他们却纵情淫乱，
涌向娼妓的家。
8 他们像吃得肥壮、发情的公马，
垂涎邻居的妻子。
9 我怎能不惩罚他们呢？
我怎能不亲自报应这样的国民呢？
这是耶和华说的。
10 你们要去毁坏她的葡萄园，
但不可彻底毁坏。
要砍掉枝子，
因为那些枝子不属于耶和华。
11 以色列人和犹大人根本不忠于我。
这是耶和华说的。
12 “他们撒谎说，
‘耶和华不会管我们，
我们必不会遇到灾祸、战争和饥荒。
13 先知的话不过是一阵风，
不是来自上帝，
他们预言的灾祸必降临到自己身上。’”
14 因此，万军之上帝耶和华对我说：
“因为他们说了这话，
我要使我的话在你口中成为火，
使他们像柴一样被烧毁。
15 以色列人啊，我要使一个国家，
一个历久不衰的古国从远方来攻击你们，
你们不明白他们的语言，
也听不懂他们说的话。
这是耶和华说的。
16 他们都是勇士，
他们的弓箭杀人无数。
17 他们必吞噬你们的儿女、牛羊、
粮食、葡萄和无花果，
用刀剑摧毁你们所依靠的坚城。”
18 耶和华说：“即使在那时，我也不会彻底毁灭你们。 19 耶利米啊，如果有人问，‘为什么我们的上帝耶和华这样待我们？’你可以对他们说，‘你们怎样背弃耶和华，在自己的土地上供奉外族的神明，也要怎样在异地他乡服侍外族人。’
20 “要在犹大向雅各家高声宣布，
21 ‘听着，你们这群愚昧无知的人啊，
你们视而不见，
听而不闻。
22 难道你们不敬畏我吗？
这是耶和华说的。
难道你们在我面前不颤抖吗？
我以沙石为海的界限，
使水永远不能越过它。
汹涌的波涛不能逾越，
澎湃的海浪不能漫过。
23 但你们这些人顽固不化，
悖逆成性。
你们离我而去。
24 你们心中从未说，
我们要敬畏我们的上帝耶和华，
祂按时降下秋雨和春雨，
让我们按时收割。
25 你们的罪过使你们不再风调雨顺，
你们的罪恶使你们失去祝福。’
26 我的子民中有恶人，
他们像捕鸟人一样埋伏等候，
设下网罗陷害人。
27 他们的家里充满了诡诈，
就像笼子装满了鸟。
他们变得有财有势，
28 吃得肥胖红润，
坏事做尽，不为孤儿申冤，
不为穷人主持公道。”
29 耶和华说：“我怎能坐视不理呢？
我怎能不惩罚这样的国家呢？
30 这地方发生了一件令人震惊、恐惧的事，
31 就是先知说假预言，
祭司滥用权力，
我的子民却以此为乐。
但当最后的结局来临时，
他们还能做什么呢？

5 “你们去走遍耶路撒冷的街道，
到处观察留意，
又在城的广场上寻觅；
如果能找到一个行正义、求诚实的人，
我就赦免这城。
2 城里的人虽然指着永活的耶和华起誓，
其实，他们起的誓是假的。”
3 耶和华啊！你的眼目不是要看诚实的事吗？
你击打他们，他们却不觉得伤痛；
你摧毁他们，他们仍不肯接受管教。
他们板着脸，脸皮比盘石还硬，
总不肯回转。
4 我说：“这些人只是贫穷小民，
为人愚昧；
他们不晓得耶和华的道路，
也不明白他们 神的法则。
5 我要亲自去见那些权贵领袖，
跟他们谈谈；
因为他们晓得耶和华的道路，
也明白他们 神的法则。”
谁知他们竟一起把轭折断，
挣脱绳索。
6 因此，狮子必从林中出来袭击他们，
旷野的豺狼要杀害他们，
豹子在他们的城边窥伺，
出城的都必被撕碎；
因为他们的过犯众多，
背道的事也无法数算。
7 “为甚么我要赦免你？
你的儿女离弃我，
指着那些不是神的起誓。
我使他们饱足，他们却去行淫，
一起挤在妓院里。
8 他们像饱食的马，情欲奔放，
各向别人的妻子嘶叫。
9 我因这些事怎能不施行惩罚呢？
像这样的国家，
我怎能不亲自报复呢？”
这是耶和华的宣告。
10 “你们要走进她的葡萄园（“葡萄园”原文作“葡萄树的行列”）里施行毁坏，
但不可毁灭净尽，要除掉她的枝子，
因为它们不属耶和华。
11 以色列家和犹大家，
待我实在太奸诈了。”
这是耶和华的宣告。
12 他们不信耶和华，
说：“他不会作甚么，
灾祸必不临到我们，
我们也不会看见刀剑和饥荒。
13 先知不过是一阵风，
主的道也不在他们里面；
他们所说的必临到他们身上。”
14 因此，耶和华万军之 神这样说：
“因他们说了这话，
我必使我的话在你口中成为火，
使这人民成为柴，
火要把他们吞灭。
15 以色列家啊！
我必使一国从远方来攻击你们。”
这是耶和华的宣告。
“那国历久不衰，
从古就有；
他们的言语你们不懂得，
他们所说的你们不明白。
16 他们的箭囊像敞开的坟墓，
他们尽都是勇士。
17 他们必吞灭你们的庄稼和粮食，
吞灭你的儿女，
你们的羊群牛群，
以及你们的葡萄和无花果；
他们也必用刀剑毁坏你们所倚仗的坚固城。
18 就是到了那时，
我也不把你们完全毁灭。”
这是耶和华的宣告。
19 “将来如果有人问：‘耶和华我们的 神，为甚么向我们行这一切事呢？’你就要对他们说：‘你们怎样离弃我，在你们的土地上事奉外族人的神，你们也要在不属你们的土地上照样服事外族人。’”
神的警告
20 你们要在雅各家宣告这事，
在犹大传扬，说：
21 “愚昧无知的民哪！
你们有眼不能看，
有耳不能听；
你们应当听这话：
22 ‘你们连我都不惧怕吗？
在我面前你们也不战兢吗？’
这是耶和华的宣告。
‘我以沙作海的疆界，
作永远的界限，海就不能越过；
波浪翻腾，却不能漫过；
怒涛澎湃，仍无法逾越。
23 可是这人民，竟存着顽梗悖逆的心；
背我而去。’
24 他们心里也不想想：
‘我们应当敬畏耶和华我们的 神，
他按时赐雨，就是秋雨春霖，
又为我们保存定时收割的节令。’
25 你们的罪孽使这些都离开了，
你们的罪恶剥夺了你们的幸福。
26 在我的子民中发现了恶人，
他们好象捕鸟的人蹲伏窥探，
装置网罗捕捉人。
27 笼中怎样满了雀鸟，
他们的屋里也满了诡诈；
他们就因此财雄势大。
28 他们肥胖光润，
作尽各种坏事；
他们不为人辩护，
不替孤儿辨屈，使他们获益，
也不为穷人伸冤。
29 我因这些事怎能不施行惩罚呢？
像这样的国家，
我怎能不亲自报复呢？”
这是耶和华的宣告。
30 “恐怖骇人的事在国中发生了。
31 先知说假预言，
祭司凭己意把持权柄。
我的子民竟喜爱这样，
到了结局你们怎么办呢？”

5 耶和華說：

2 雖然他們憑永活的耶和華起誓，
卻口是心非。」
3 耶和華啊，你要的不是誠實嗎？
你責打他們，他們不感到疼痛；
你嚴懲他們，他們仍不受教。
他們屢教不改，
臉比石頭還硬。
4 我想：「他們貧窮、愚昧，
不明白他們上帝耶和華的道，
也不知道祂的法令。
5 我要找他們的首領說話，
因為這些首領明白耶和華的道，
知道他們上帝的法令。」
然而，他們卻一致違背耶和華的律法，
不服從祂的法令。

The Depravity of Jerusalem
5 Roam(A) through the streets of Jerusalem.
Look and take note;
search in her squares.
If you find one person,(B)
any who acts justly,
who seeks to be faithful,
then I will forgive her.(C)
2 When they say, “As the Lord lives,”(D)
they are swearing falsely.(E)
3 Lord, don’t Your eyes look for faithfulness?(F)
You have struck them, but they felt no pain.(G)
You finished them off,
but they refused to accept discipline.(H)
They made their faces harder than rock,(I)
and they refused to return.(J)
4 Then I thought:
They are just the poor;
they have played the fool.
For they don’t understand the way of the Lord,(K)
the justice of their God.(L)
5 I will go to the powerful
and speak to them.
Surely they know the way of the Lord,
the justice of their God.(M)
However, these also had broken the yoke
and torn off the chains.(N)
6 Therefore, a lion from the forest will strike them down.(O)
A wolf from an arid plain will ravage them.
A leopard(P) keeps watch over their cities.
Anyone who leaves them will be torn to pieces
because their rebellious acts are many,(Q)
their unfaithful deeds numerous.(R)
7 Why should I forgive you?
Your children have abandoned Me
and sworn by those who are not gods.(S)
I satisfied their needs, yet they committed adultery;(T)
they gashed themselves(U) at the[a] prostitute’s house.
8 They are well-fed,[b] eager[c] stallions,(V)
each neighing(W) after someone else’s wife.(X)
9 Should I not punish them for these things?(Y)
This is the Lord’s declaration.
Should I not avenge Myself(Z)
on such a nation as this?
10 Go up among her vineyard terraces and destroy them,(AA)
but do not finish them off.(AB)
Prune away her shoots,
for they do not belong to the Lord.(AC)
11 They, the house of Israel and the house of Judah,
have dealt very treacherously with Me.(AD)
This is the Lord’s declaration.
12 They have contradicted the Lord
and insisted, “It won’t happen.[d](AE)
Harm won’t come to us;
we won’t see sword or famine.”
13 The prophets become only wind,
for the Lord’s word is not in them.
This will in fact happen to them.
Coming Judgment
14 Therefore, this is what the Lord God of Hosts says:
Because you have spoken this word,
I am going to make My words
become fire in your mouth.(AF)
These people are the wood,
and the fire will consume them.(AG)
15 I am about to bring a nation
from far away against you,(AH)
house of Israel.
This is the Lord’s declaration.
It is an established nation,
an ancient nation,
a nation whose language you do not know
and whose speech you do not understand.(AI)
16 Their quiver is like an open grave;(AJ)
they are all mighty warriors.
17 They will consume your harvest and your food.(AK)
They will consume your sons and your daughters.
They will consume your flocks and your herds.
They will consume your vines and your fig trees.
They will destroy with the sword
your fortified cities(AL) in which you trust.
18 “But even in those days”—this is the Lord’s declaration—“I will not finish you off.(AM) 19 When people ask, ‘For what offense has the Lord our God done all these things to us?’ You will respond to them: Just as you abandoned Me(AN) and served foreign gods in your land, so will you serve strangers in a land that is not yours.(AO)
20 “Declare this in the house of Jacob; proclaim it in Judah, saying:
21 Hear this,
you foolish and senseless[e] people.(AP)
They have eyes, but they don’t see.
They have ears, but they don’t hear.(AQ)
22 Do you not fear Me?
This is the Lord’s declaration.
Do you not tremble before Me,
the One who set the sand as the boundary of the sea,
an enduring barrier that it cannot cross?(AR)
The waves surge, but they cannot prevail.
They roar but cannot pass over it.
23 But these people have stubborn and rebellious hearts.(AS)
They have turned aside and have gone away.
24 They have not said to themselves,
‘Let’s fear the Lord our God,(AT)
who gives the rain,(AU) both early and late,(AV) in its season,(AW)
who guarantees to us the fixed weeks of the harvest.’
25 Your guilty acts have diverted these things from you.
Your sins have withheld My bounty from you,(AX)
26 for wicked men live among My people.
They watch like fowlers lying in wait.[f](AY)
They set a trap;(AZ)
they catch men.
27 Like a cage full of birds,
so their houses are full of deceit.(BA)
Therefore they have grown powerful and rich.
28 They have become fat(BB) and sleek.
They have also excelled in evil matters.
They have not taken up cases,
such as the case of the fatherless, so they might prosper,
and they have not defended the rights of the needy.(BC)
29 Should I not punish them for these things?
This is the Lord’s declaration.
Should I not avenge Myself(BD)
on such a nation as this?
30 A horrible, terrible thing
has taken place in the land.(BE)
31 The prophets prophesy falsely,(BF)
and the priests rule by their own authority.
My people love it like this.
But what will you do at the end of it?(BG)
