42 众军官和加利亚的儿子约哈难，并何沙雅的儿子耶撒尼亚[a]以及众百姓，从最小的到最大的都进前来， 2 对耶利米先知说：“请你准我们在你面前祈求，为我们这幸存的人向耶和华—你的 神祷告。我们本来众多，现在剩下的极少，这是你亲眼看见的。 3 愿耶和华—你的 神指示我们当走的路，当做的事。”

42 Then all the army officers, including Johanan(A) son of Kareah and Jezaniah[a] son of Hoshaiah,(B) and all the people from the least to the greatest(C) approached 2 Jeremiah the prophet and said to him, “Please hear our petition and pray(D) to the Lord your God for this entire remnant.(E) For as you now see, though we were once many, now only a few(F) are left. 3 Pray that the Lord your God will tell us where we should go and what we should do.”(G)

2 And said unto Jeremiah the prophet, Let, we beseech thee, our supplication be accepted before thee, and pray for us unto the Lord thy God, even for all this remnant; (for we are left but a few of many, as thine eyes do behold us:)
3 That the Lord thy God may shew us the way wherein we may walk, and the thing that we may do.

Pinaalalahanan ni Jeremias ang mga Judio na huwag pumunta sa Egipto.
42 Nang magkagayo'y ang (A)lahat na kapitan sa mga kawal, (B)at si Johanan na anak ni Carea, at si Jezanias na anak ni Osaia, at ang buong bayan, mula sa kaliitliitan hanggang sa kadakidakilaan, ay nagsilapit,
2 At nangagsabi kay Jeremias na propeta, Isinasamo namin sa iyo, na tanggapin ang aming pamanhik sa harap mo, at idalangin mo kami sa Panginoon mong Dios, sa makatuwid baga'y ang lahat na nalabing ito (sapagka't kaming naiwan ay kaunti sa karamihan, gaya ng namamasdan ng iyong mga mata sa amin),
3 Upang ipakita sa amin ng Panginoon mong Dios ang daan na aming marapat na lakaran, at ang bagay na marapat naming gawin.
