5 耶利米還沒有回去，護衛長又說：“你可以回到沙番的孫子、亞希甘的兒子基大利那裡去！基大利是巴比倫王指派管理猶大各城的。你可以和他一起住在人民中間；或是你認為去哪裡合宜，就到哪裡去吧！”於是護衛長給他糧食和禮物，就釋放他走了。 6 耶利米就到米斯巴去見亞希甘的兒子基大利，和他一同住在那地剩下的人民中間。
7 在田野的眾將領和他們的士兵，聽見巴比倫王委派了亞希甘的兒子基大利管理那地，也委派他管理那些沒有被擄到巴比倫去的男人、婦女、孩童，和那地最貧窮的人，

English Standard Version
5 If you remain,[a] then return to (A)Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, son of Shaphan, (B)whom the king of Babylon appointed governor of the cities of Judah, and dwell with him among the people. Or go wherever you think it right to go.” So the captain of the guard gave him an allowance of food and a present, and let him go. 6 Then Jeremiah went to (C)Gedaliah the son of Ahikam, at (D)Mizpah, and lived with him (E)among the people (F)who were left in the land.
7 (G)When all the captains of the forces in the open country and their men heard that (H)the king of Babylon had appointed Gedaliah the son of Ahikam governor in the land and had committed to him men, women, and children, those of (I)the poorest of the land who had not been taken into exile to Babylon,
