耶和华降灾难的日子
16 耶和华对耶利米说： 2 “你不可在这地方娶妻，也不可生儿育女。 3 至于在这地方出生的孩子和他们的父母，耶和华说， 4 ‘他们必死于恶疾，无人哀悼，无人埋葬，他们好像地上的粪便。他们必死于战争和饥荒，尸首必成为飞鸟和走兽的食物。’” 5 耶和华对我说：“你不要进入丧家为他们哀悼悲伤，因为我已收回我赐给这百姓的平安、慈爱和怜悯。这是耶和华说的。 6 他们无论尊卑都要死在这里，无人埋葬，无人哀悼，也无人为他们的死而割伤身体、剃光头发。 7 无人用食物和酒安慰哀悼者，甚至无人给丧父或丧母者一杯安慰酒。 8 你不可进入宴乐之家与他们同坐吃喝。” 9 以色列的上帝——万军之耶和华说：“在这百姓有生之年，我要使这地方的欢乐声和新郎新娘的欢笑声从他们眼前消失。

16 耶和华说：“看啊，我要召来许多渔夫把他们捕捞上来，我要召来许多猎人去各山岭和岩穴猎取他们。 17 因为我鉴察他们的一切行为，他们无法隐藏，他们的罪恶逃不过我的眼晴。 18 首先，我要让他们因自己的罪与恶而受加倍的报应，因为他们用没有生命气息的可憎偶像玷污我的土地，使可厌之物充满我的产业。”
19 耶和华啊，你是我的力量，
是我的堡垒，
是我患难时的避难所。
万国都要从地极来朝见你，
说：“我们祖先所拜的神像虚假无用，一无是处。
20 难道人可以为自己制造神明吗？
其实那些神明并不是真神。”
21 耶和华说：“看啊，这一次我要让他们知道我的权柄和能力，让他们知道我是耶和华。”

16 După aceea, Cuvântul Domnului a venit la mine şi mi-a zis: 2 „Să nu-ţi iei soţie şi să nu ai în locul acesta nici fii, nici fiice! 3 Aşa vorbeşte Domnul despre fiii şi fiicele care se vor naşte în locul acesta, despre mamele care-i vor naşte şi despre taţii care-i vor concepe în ţara aceasta: 4 «Ei vor muri de boli ucigătoare. Nimeni nu-i va jeli, nici nu-i va îngropa, ci vor fi ca un gunoi întins pe faţa pământului; vor pieri de sabie şi de foamete, iar hoiturile lor vor deveni hrană pentru păsările cerului şi pentru fiarele pământului.»
5 Căci aşa vorbeşte Domnul: «Să nu intri în nici o casă de jale, să nu mergi să plângi şi să jeleşti cu ei, fiindcă Eu Mi-am retras de la poporul acesta pacea, îndurarea şi mila, zice Domnul. 6 Cei mari şi cei mici vor muri în ţara aceasta şi nu vor fi îngropaţi. Nimeni nu-i va jeli, nimeni nu-şi va face tăieturi din cauza lor şi nimeni nu-şi va rade capul pentru ei. 7 Nimeni nu va frânge pâine pentru cei ce jelesc, ca să-i mângâie pentru cel mort, nimeni nu le va întinde paharul mângâierii pentru tatăl sau pentru mama lor.
8 Să nu intri în nici o casă de petrecere ca să te aşezi cu ei, să mănânci sau să bei.» 9 Căci aşa vorbeşte Domnul Oştirilor, Dumnezeul lui Israel: «Iată, sub ochii voştri şi în zilele voastre, voi face să înceteze în locul acesta strigătele de bucurie şi de veselie, glasul mirelui şi al miresei.»
10 Când îi vei spune acestui popor toate aceste cuvinte, ei te vor întreba: «De ce a hotărât Domnul împotriva noastră toate aceste mari nenorociri? Care este nelegiuirea noastră? Ce păcat am săvârşit împotriva Domnului, Dumnezeul nostru?» 11 Atunci să le răspunzi astfel: «Pentru că strămoşii voştri M-au părăsit, zice Domnul, s-au dus după alţi dumnezei, le-au slujit şi li s-au închinat. Ei M-au uitat şi nu au păzit Legea Mea. 12 Iar voi aţi făcut şi mai rău decât strămoşii voştri. Iată, fiecare dintre voi umblă după încăpăţânarea inimii lui rele şi nu Mă ascultaţi. 13 De aceea, vă voi arunca din ţara aceasta într-o ţară pe care n-aţi cunoscut-o, nici voi şi nici strămoşii voştri. Acolo veţi sluji altor dumnezei zi şi noapte, căci nu vă voi arăta îndurare.»
14 Totuşi, iată că vin zile, zice Domnul, când nu se va mai zice: «Viu este Domnul, Care i-a scos pe israeliţi din ţara Egiptului!», 15 ci se va zice: «Viu este Domnul, Care i-a scos pe israeliţi din ţara de nord şi din toate ţările unde îi izgonise!», căci îi voi aduce înapoi în ţara lor, pe care le-am dat-o strămoşilor lor.
16 Iată, trimit o mulţime de pescari, zice Domnul, care îi vor pescui. După aceea, voi trimite o mulţime de vânători, care îi vor vâna pe toţi munţii, pe toate dealurile şi în crăpăturile stâncilor, 17 căci ochii Mei sunt asupra tuturor căilor lor; ele nu sunt ascunse dinaintea feţei Mele, iar vina lor nu este ascunsă de ochii Mei. 18 Mai întâi le voi răsplăti îndoit pentru vina şi păcatul lor, fiindcă Mi-au pângărit ţara cu formele fără viaţă ale idolilor[a] lor hidoşi şi mi-au umplut moştenirea cu urâciunile lor.“
19 „Doamne, Tăria mea, Cetăţuia mea
şi Refugiul meu în ziua necazului!
Neamurile vor veni la Tine
de la marginile pământului şi vor zice:
«Strămoşii noştri n-au moştenit decât minciună,
lucruri fără valoare[b], care nu le-au fost de nici un folos!»
20 Poate oare omul să-şi facă proprii lui zei?
Poate, dar aceştia nu sunt Dumnezeu!“
21 „De aceea, iată, îi voi învăţa,
de data aceasta îi voi face să cunoască
mâna Mea şi puterea Mea.
Atunci vor şti
că Numele Meu este Domnul!

16 2 The Lord forbidding Jeremiah to marry, showeth him what should be the afflictions upon Judah. 13 The captivity of Babylon. 15 Their deliverance. 19 The calling of the Gentiles.
1 The word of the Lord came also unto me, saying,
2 Thou shalt not take [a]thee a wife, nor have sons nor daughters in this place.
3 For thus saith the Lord concerning the sons, and concerning the daughters, that are born in this place, and concerning their mothers that bear them, and concerning their fathers that beget them in this land,
4 They shall die of deaths and diseases: they shall not be lamented, neither shall they be buried, but they shall be as dung upon the earth, and they shall be consumed by the sword, and by famine, and their carcasses shall be meat for the fowls of the heaven, and for the beasts of the earth.
5 For thus saith the Lord, [b]Enter not into the house of mourning, neither go to lament, nor be moved for them: for I have taken my peace from this people, saith the Lord, even mercy and compassion.
6 Both the great, and the small shall die in this land: they shall not be buried, neither shall men lament for them, [c]nor cut themselves, nor make themselves bald for them.
7 They shall not stretch out the hands for them in the mourning to comfort them for the dead, neither shall they give them the [d]cup of consolation to drink for their father or for their mother.
8 Thou shalt not also go into the house of feasting, to sit with them to eat and to drink.
9 For thus saith the Lord of hosts, the God of Israel, Behold, I will cause to cease out of this place in your eyes, even in your days, the voice of mirth, and the voice of gladness, the voice of the bridegroom, and the voice of the bride.
10 And when thou shalt show this people all these words, and they shall say unto thee, (A)Wherefore hath the Lord pronounced all this great plague against us? or what is [e]our iniquity? and what is our sin that we have committed against the Lord our God?
11 Then shalt thou say unto them, Because your fathers have forsaken me, saith the Lord, and have walked after other gods, and have served them, and worshipped them, and have forsaken me, and have not kept my Law,
12 ((B)And ye have done worse than your fathers: for behold, you walk everyone after the stubbornness of his wicked heart, and will not hear me.)
13 Therefore will I drive you out of this land into a land that ye know not, neither you nor your fathers, and there ye shall serve other gods day and night: for I will show you no grace.
14 (C)Behold therefore saith the Lord, the days come that it shall no more be said, The Lord liveth, which brought up the children of Israel out of the land of Egypt,
15 But, The Lord liveth, that brought up the children of Israel [f]from the land of the North, and from all the lands where he had scattered them, and I will bring them again into their land that I gave unto their fathers.
16 Behold, saith the Lord, I will send out many [g]fishers, and they shall fish them, and after will I send out many hunters, and they shall hunt them from every mountain, and from every hill, and out of the caves of the rocks.
17 For mine eyes are upon all their ways: they are not hid from my face, neither is their iniquity hid from mine eyes.
18 And first I will recompense their iniquity and their sin double, because they have defiled my land, and have filled mine inheritance with their filthy [h]carrions and their abominations.
19 O Lord, thou art my [i]fortress, and my strength and my refuge in the day of affliction: the Gentiles shall come unto thee from the ends of the world, and shall say, Surely our fathers have inherited [j]lies, and vanity, wherein there was no profit.
20 Shall a man make gods unto himself, and they are no gods?
21 Behold, therefore I will this once [k]teach them: I will show them mine hand and my power, and they shall know that my Name is the Lord.

- Jeremiah 16:19 He wondereth at the great mercy of God in this deliverance, which shall not only extend to the Jews, but also to the Gentiles.
- Jeremiah 16:19 Our fathers were most vile idolaters, therefore it cometh only of God’s mercy, that he performeth his promise, and hath not utterly cast us off.
- Jeremiah 16:21 They shall once again feel my power and mercy for their deliverance, that they may learn to worship me.
