12 所以，弟兄姊妹，我憑上帝的憐憫勸你們獻上自己的身體，作聖潔、蒙上帝悅納的活祭。你們理當這樣事奉。 2 你們不可追隨世界的潮流，要隨著思想的不斷更新而改變，這樣就能明辨上帝的旨意，知道什麼是良善、純全、蒙祂悅納的。
3 我憑上帝賜給我的恩典勸告各位，不要自視過高，要照著上帝賜給各人的信心中肯地看待自己。 4 就像我們身體的各部分有不同的功能， 5 我們眾人在基督裡組成一個身體，彼此聯結，息息相關。 6 我們照所得的恩典各有不同的恩賜。說預言的，要按著信心的程度說預言； 7 服侍的，要忠心服侍；教導的，要專一教導； 8 勸勉的，要誠心勸勉；施捨的，要慷慨施捨；治理的，要殷勤治理；憐憫的，要甘心憐憫。
相愛相顧
9 不可虛情假意地愛人。要嫉惡如仇，一心向善。 10 要彼此相愛如同手足，互相尊重，彼此謙讓。 11 要殷勤，不可懶惰，要常常火熱地事奉主。 12 盼望中要有喜樂，患難中要堅忍，禱告要恆切。 13 信徒有缺乏，要慷慨幫助；客人來訪，要熱誠款待。 14 迫害你們的，要為他們祝福；要祝福，不可咒詛。 15 要與喜樂的人同樂，與哀哭的人同哭。 16 要彼此和睦，不可心高氣傲，反要俯就卑微的人，不可自以為聰明。
17 不要以惡報惡。要尊重別人，眾人都認為好的事，應該竭力去做。 18 如果可能，總要盡力與人和睦相處。 19 親愛的弟兄姊妹，不要私自報復，要讓上帝來審判，因為聖經上說：
「主說，『伸冤在我，我必報應。』」
20 所以，
「你的仇敵若餓了，就給他吃的；
若渴了，就給他喝的；
你這樣做是把炭火堆在他頭上。」
21 你不可被惡所勝，反要以善勝惡。

12 Ich ermahne euch nun, liebe Brüder, durch die Barmherzigkeit Gottes, daß ihr eure Leiber begebet zum Opfer, das da lebendig, heilig und Gott wohlgefällig sei, welches sei euer vernünftiger Gottesdienst.
2 Und stellet euch nicht dieser Welt gleich, sondern verändert euch durch die Erneuerung eures Sinnes, auf daß ihr prüfen möget, welches da sei der gute, wohlgefällige und vollkommene Gotteswille.
3 Denn ich sage euch durch die Gnade, die mir gegeben ist, jedermann unter euch, daß niemand weiter von sich halte, als sich's gebührt zu halten, sondern daß er von sich mäßig halte, ein jeglicher, nach dem Gott ausgeteilt hat das Maß des Glaubens.
4 Denn gleicherweise als wir in einem Leibe viele Glieder haben, aber alle Glieder nicht einerlei Geschäft haben,
5 also sind wir viele ein Leib in Christus, aber untereinander ist einer des andern Glied,
6 und haben mancherlei Gaben nach der Gnade, die uns gegeben ist.
7 Hat jemand Weissagung, so sei sie dem Glauben gemäß. Hat jemand ein Amt, so warte er des Amts. Lehrt jemand, so warte er der Lehre.
8 Ermahnt jemand, so warte er des Ermahnens. Gibt jemand, so gebe er einfältig. Regiert jemand, so sei er sorgfältig. Übt jemand Barmherzigkeit, so tue er's mit Lust.
9 Die Liebe sei nicht falsch. Hasset das Arge, hanget dem Guten an.
10 Die brüderliche Liebe untereinander sei herzlich. Einer komme dem andern mit Ehrerbietung zuvor.
11 Seid nicht träge in dem, was ihr tun sollt. Seid brünstig im Geiste. Schicket euch in die Zeit.
12 Seid fröhlich in Hoffnung, geduldig in Trübsal, haltet an am Gebet.
13 Nehmet euch der Notdurft der Heiligen an. Herberget gern.
14 Segnet, die euch verfolgen; segnet und fluchet nicht.
15 Freut euch mit den Fröhlichen und weint mit den Weinenden.
16 Habt einerlei Sinn untereinander. Trachtet nicht nach hohen Dingen, sondern haltet euch herunter zu den Niedrigen.
17 Haltet euch nicht selbst für klug. Vergeltet niemand Böses mit Bösem. Fleißigt euch der Ehrbarkeit gegen jedermann.
18 Ist es möglich, soviel an euch ist, so habt mit allen Menschen Frieden.
19 Rächet euch selber nicht, meine Liebsten, sondern gebet Raum dem Zorn Gottes; denn es steht geschrieben: "Die Rache ist mein; ich will vergelten, spricht der HERR."
20 So nun deinen Feind hungert, so speise ihn; dürstet ihn, so tränke ihn. Wenn du das tust, so wirst du feurige Kohlen auf sein Haupt sammeln.
21 Laß dich nicht das Böse überwinden, sondern überwinde das Böse mit Gutem.

12 Vi esorto dunque, fratelli, per la misericordia di Dio, ad offrire i vostri corpi come sacrificio vivente, santo e gradito a Dio; è questo il vostro culto spirituale. 2 Non conformatevi alla mentalità di questo secolo, ma trasformatevi rinnovando la vostra mente, per poter discernere la volontà di Dio, ciò che è buono, a lui gradito e perfetto.
Umiltà e carità nella comunità
3 Per la grazia che mi è stata concessa, io dico a ciascuno di voi: non valutatevi più di quanto è conveniente valutarsi, ma valutatevi in maniera da avere di voi una giusta valutazione, ciascuno secondo la misura di fede che Dio gli ha dato. 4 Poiché, come in un solo corpo abbiamo molte membra e queste membra non hanno tutte la medesima funzione, 5 così anche noi, pur essendo molti, siamo un solo corpo in Cristo e ciascuno per la sua parte siamo membra gli uni degli altri. 6 Abbiamo pertanto doni diversi secondo la grazia data a ciascuno di noi. Chi ha il dono della profezia la eserciti secondo la misura della fede; 7 chi ha un ministero attenda al ministero; chi l'insegnamento, all'insegnamento; 8 chi l'esortazione, all'esortazione. Chi dà, lo faccia con semplicità; chi presiede, lo faccia con diligenza; chi fa opere di misericordia, le compia con gioia.
9 La carità non abbia finzioni: fuggite il male con orrore, attaccatevi al bene; 10 amatevi gli uni gli altri con affetto fraterno, gareggiate nello stimarvi a vicenda. 11 Non siate pigri nello zelo; siate invece ferventi nello spirito, servite il Signore. 12 Siate lieti nella speranza, forti nella tribolazione, perseveranti nella preghiera, 13 solleciti per le necessità dei fratelli, premurosi nell'ospitalità.
Carità verso tutti, anche verso i nemici
14 Benedite coloro che vi perseguitano, benedite e non maledite. 15 Rallegratevi con quelli che sono nella gioia, piangete con quelli che sono nel pianto. 16 Abbiate i medesimi sentimenti gli uni verso gli altri; non aspirate a cose troppo alte, piegatevi invece a quelle umili. Non fatevi un'idea troppo alta di voi stessi.
17 Non rendete a nessuno male per male. Cercate di compiere il bene davanti a tutti gli uomini. 18 Se possibile, per quanto questo dipende da voi, vivete in pace con tutti. 19 Non fatevi giustizia da voi stessi, carissimi, ma lasciate fare all'ira divina. Sta scritto infatti: A me la vendetta, sono io che ricambierò, dice il Signore. 20 Al contrario, se il tuo nemico ha fame, dagli da mangiare; se ha sete, dagli da bere: facendo questo, infatti, ammasserai carboni ardenti sopra il suo capo. 21 Non lasciarti vincere dal male, ma vinci con il bene il male.

Consecration of the Believer’s Life
12 Therefore I exhort you, brothers and sisters,[a] by the mercies of God, to present your bodies as a sacrifice—alive, holy, and pleasing to God[b]—which is your reasonable service. 2 Do not be conformed[c] to this present world,[d] but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, so that you may test and approve[e] what is the will of God—what is good and well-pleasing and perfect.
Conduct in Humility
3 For by the grace given to me I say to every one of you not to think more highly of yourself than you ought to think, but to think with sober discernment, as God has distributed to each of you[f] a measure of faith.[g] 4 For just as in one body we have many members, and not all the members serve the same function, 5 so we who are many are one body in Christ, and individually we are members who belong to one another. 6 And we have different gifts[h] according to the grace given to us. If the gift is prophecy, that individual must use it in proportion to his faith.[i] 7 If it is service, he must serve; if it is teaching, he must teach; 8 if it is exhortation, he must exhort; if it is contributing, he must do so with sincerity; if it is leadership, he must do so with diligence; if it is showing mercy, he must do so with cheerfulness.
Conduct in Love
9 Love must be[j] without hypocrisy. Abhor what is evil, cling to what is good. 10 Be devoted to one another with mutual love, showing eagerness in honoring one another. 11 Do not lag in zeal, be enthusiastic in spirit, serve the Lord. 12 Rejoice in hope, endure in suffering, persist in prayer. 13 Contribute to the needs of the saints, pursue hospitality. 14 Bless those who persecute you, bless and do not curse. 15 Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. 16 Live in harmony with one another; do not be haughty but associate with the lowly.[k] Do not be conceited.[l] 17 Do not repay anyone evil for evil; consider what is good before all people.[m] 18 If possible, so far as it depends on you, live peaceably with all people.[n] 19 Do not avenge yourselves, dear friends, but give place to God’s wrath,[o] for it is written, “Vengeance is mine, I will repay,”[p] says the Lord. 20 Rather, if your enemy is hungry, feed him; if he is thirsty, give him a drink; for in doing this you will be heaping burning coals on his head.[q] 21 Do not be overcome by evil, but overcome evil with good.

See ExSyn 618-19.sn Taken as predicate adjectives, the terms alive, holy, and pleasing are showing how unusual is the sacrifice that believers can now offer, for OT sacrifices were dead. As has often been quipped about this text, “The problem with living sacrifices is that they keep crawling off the altar.”
- Romans 12:2 tn Although συσχηματίζεσθε (suschēmatizesthe) could be either a passive or middle, the passive is more likely since it would otherwise have to be a direct middle (“conform yourselves”) and, as such, would be quite rare for NT Greek. It is very telling that being “conformed” to the present world is viewed as a passive notion, for it may suggest that it happens, in part, subconsciously. At the same time, the passive could well be a “permissive passive,” suggesting that there may be some consciousness of the conformity taking place. Most likely, it is a combination of both.
