神的福音
1 我[a]保羅做基督耶穌的奴僕、蒙召的使徒，是為了神的福音被分別出來的。 2 這福音是神先前藉著他的先知們，在聖經上所應許的， 3 是關於他的兒子——我們的主耶穌基督的。照著肉身說，他出自大衛的後裔； 4 照著聖潔的靈[b]說，藉著從死人中復活，他被顯明是神大能的兒子。 5 我們從他領受了恩典和使徒的職份，為了他名的緣故，要在萬民中帶來信仰上的順從； 6 其中也有你們這些蒙召喚、屬耶穌基督的人。
7 致所有在羅馬、蒙神所愛、蒙召成為聖徒的人：
願恩典與平安從神我們的父和主耶穌基督臨到你們！
保羅渴望到羅馬去
8 首先，我藉著耶穌基督，為你們各位感謝我的神，因為你們的忠信被傳遍全世界。 9 事實上，神——就是我在他兒子的福音工作上用心靈所事奉的那一位，可以為我見證：我怎樣不住地提到你們， 10 在我的禱告中總是祈求，或許可以照著神的旨意，終有一天能順利地到你們那裡去； 11 因為我切切地想見到你們，好把一些屬靈的恩賜分給你們，使你們得以堅固。 12 這就是說，在你們那裡，藉著你們和我裡面彼此的信仰，大家可以同得鼓勵。
13 弟兄們，我不願意你們不明白：我多次計劃到你們那裡去，為要在你們那裡也得一些果實，就像我在其他外邦人中那樣，可是直到如今還受到攔阻。 14 無論是希臘人或是外族人[c]，有智慧的或是無知的，我都對他們有責任[d]。 15 因此，我願意盡我所能，把福音也傳給你們在羅馬的人。
義人將因信而活
16 的確，我不以[e]福音為恥，因為這福音是神的大能，把救恩帶給一切相信的人，先是猶太人、後是外邦人[f]。 17 原來，神的義就在這福音上顯明出來——本於信，以至於信，正如經上所記：「義人將因信而活。」[g]
世人的罪
18 要知道，人用不公義抵擋真理，神的震怒就從天上顯明在人的一切不敬虔和不公義上。 19 實際上，有關神的事，人所能知道的，在他們裡面是清清楚楚的，因為神已經向他們顯明了。 20 原來，自從創世以來，神那不可見的本性，就是他永恆的大能和神性，都藉著所造之物，被人明白、被人看見，以致使人無法推諉。 21 所以人是已經知道神的，但是卻不把他當做神來榮耀他，也不感謝他；相反，他們在思想上變得虛妄，他們無知的心就昏暗了。 22 他們自稱是有智慧的，卻成了愚拙， 23 甚至用偶像，就是會朽壞的人、飛禽、走獸、爬行動物的形像，來取代那不朽之神的榮耀。
24 因此，神任憑他們順著心中的情欲去做汙穢的事，以致彼此玷汙自己的身體。 25 他們用虛假取代神的真理，去崇拜、事奉被造之物，而不事奉造物之主——主是當受頌讚的，直到永遠！阿們。
人類的墮落
26 為此，神任憑他們陷入可恥的情欲，連他們的女人也把天性的功用變為違反天性的； 27 同樣，男人也放棄了女人天性的功用，彼此之間欲火中燒，男人與男人做出羞恥的事，就在自己身上[h]受到他們的妄為[i]所應得的報應。
28 既然人不願意真正認識神，神就任憑他們存敗壞的理性，去做那些不該做的事。 29 他們充滿了各種不義、[j]邪惡、貪心、惡毒；滿心是嫉妒、凶殺、紛爭、欺詐、狠毒；他們搬弄是非、 30 誹謗人、憎恨神、侮慢人、驕傲、自誇、製造惡行、悖逆父母、 31 愚昧無知、不守信用、沒有親情、[k]毫無憐憫。 32 人雖然知道神的公義規定是：行這樣事的人是該死的；然而他們不僅自己去做，還贊同做這些事的人。

1 我，保罗、基督耶稣的仆人，受上帝的召唤成为一名使徒，被选来传播上帝的福音。
2 很久之前，上帝许诺通过先知在《经》里把福音传给他的子民。 3 福音是关于上帝之子，即我们的主耶稣基督的事情。做为凡人，他是大卫家族的后裔， 4 但是，通过圣灵，当他从死里复活时，表明他是上帝之子。
5 通过基督，上帝赐给了我一名使徒的特殊使命，即引导所有的民族信仰和服从他。我做这一切是为了荣耀基督。 6 你们也包括在其中，是蒙受了选择属于耶稣基督的人。

感恩的祷告

16 我以福音为自豪，因为福音是上帝用以拯救每个相信它的人的力量—首先是拯救犹太人，然后是外族人。 17 福音揭示了上帝是如何使人们得到他的认可。 上帝使人们得到他认可 [c]的途径自始至终都伴随着信仰。正如《经》上所说∶“得到上帝认可的人凭信仰将永生。”
所有的人都犯过错
18 上帝从天堂向所有邪恶和错误行为显示了他的愤怒，他们用非正义的恶行压制真理。 19 上帝被此激怒了，因为上帝已向他们显示了他喜爱什么，的确，上帝使他们对此一清二楚。
20 自创世以来，上帝那看不见的品格—他永恒的力量和神性—是很容易被人们理解的。上帝借他所造之物，把他永恒的力量和神性清清楚楚地展示了出来，所以人们是没有借口为他们的邪恶行为开脱了。
21 他们虽然已经知道了上帝，但是却不把他应有的荣誉归于他，也不向他表示感恩。他们的思想变得空虚无用，愚蠢的内心充满了黑暗。 22 尽管他们自称聪明，但是实 际上却成了蠢人， 23 他们不但没有荣耀永生的上帝的卓越神性， 反而去崇拜那些被造的偶像 [d]，它们被造的形象如同会生病必死的人类、或像飞禽走兽、爬行的蛇一样。
24 人们只想做邪恶的事情， 于是，上帝便离开了他们，任凭他们走邪恶之道。 他们变成了毫无道德的人，在淫乱中互相无耻地玷污自己的身体。 25 他们把上帝的真理变为谎言，他们不去崇拜造物主，却去崇拜和侍奉被造之物。创世主应该永远受到赞美，阿们！
26 因为人们的这些行为，上帝离开了他们，任凭他们随心所欲地做令人羞耻的事情。女人放弃了与男性之间的自然性关系而去和其他女性发生性关系。 27 同样，男人放弃了与女人之间的自然的性关系，彼此燃起了欲火，他们彼此间做出了猥亵羞耻的事情。因为这些邪恶的行为,他们的身体受到了应得的惩罚。
28 因为他们拒绝承认上帝，上帝便离开了他们，任凭他们存有空虚之心，去做他们不该做的事情。 29 他们充满了各种邪恶、贪婪、憎恨。他们充满了嫉妒、谋杀、争斗和慌言， 对人心怀恶意。 他们说闲话， 30 互相诽谤。 他们憎恨上帝，他们粗野无理，骄傲自负，惹事生非。 他们不孝顺父母， 31 他们是愚蠢的， 他们不守诺言，对人没有爱心和怜悯之心。 32 虽然他们知道，按照上帝的法令，做这些事情的人是该死的，但是，他们不但自己继续这么做，而且还鼓励其他做这些事情的人。

1 Paul, a bond-servant of Christ Jesus, [a](A)called as an apostle, (B)set apart for (C)the gospel of God, 2 which He (D)promised beforehand through His (E)prophets in the holy Scriptures, 3 concerning His Son, who was born (F)of a [b]descendant of David (G)according to the flesh, 4 who was declared (H)the Son of God with power according to the [c]Spirit of holiness [d]by the resurrection from the dead, Jesus Christ our Lord, 5 through whom we have received grace and (I)apostleship [e]to bring about the (J)obedience of faith among (K)all the Gentiles in behalf of His name, 6 among whom you also are the (L)called of Jesus Christ;
7 to all who are (M)beloved of God in Rome, called as [f](N)saints: (O)Grace to you and peace from God our Father and the Lord Jesus Christ.
8 First, (P)I thank my God through Jesus Christ [g]for you all, because (Q)your faith is being proclaimed throughout the world. 9 For (R)God, whom I (S)serve in my spirit in the preaching of the gospel of His Son, is my witness as to how unceasingly (T)I make mention of you, 10 always in my prayers requesting if perhaps now, at last by (U)the will of God, I will succeed in coming to you. 11 For (V)I long to see you so that I may impart some spiritual gift to you, that you may be [h]established; 12 that is, that I may be encouraged together with you while among you, each of us by the other’s faith, both yours and mine. 13 (W)I do not want you to be unaware, (X)brothers and sisters, that often I (Y)have planned to come to you (and have been prevented so far) so that I may obtain some (Z)fruit among you also just as among the rest of the Gentiles. 14 (AA)I am [i]under obligation both to Greeks and to the [j](AB)uncultured, both to the wise and to the foolish. 15 So, for my part, I am eager to (AC)preach the gospel to you also who are in Rome.
16 For I am not (AD)ashamed of the gospel, for (AE)it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who believes, to the (AF)Jew first and also to (AG)the Greek. 17 For in it (AH)the righteousness of God is revealed [k]from faith to faith; as it is written: “[l](AI)But the righteous one will live by faith.”
Unbelief and Its Consequences
18 For (AJ)the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of people who (AK)suppress the truth [m]in unrighteousness, 19 because (AL)that which is known about God is evident [n]within them; for God made it evident to them. 20 For (AM)since the creation of the world His invisible attributes, that is, His eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, (AN)being understood by what has been made, so that they are without excuse. 21 For even though they knew God, they did not [o]honor Him as God or give thanks, but they became (AO)futile in their reasonings, and their senseless hearts were darkened. 22 (AP)Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and they (AQ)exchanged the glory of the incorruptible God for an image in the form of corruptible mankind, of birds, four-footed animals, and [p]crawling creatures.
24 Therefore (AR)God gave them up to vile impurity in the lusts of their hearts, so that their bodies would be (AS)dishonored among them. 25 For they exchanged the truth of God for [q](AT)falsehood, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator, (AU)who is blessed [r]forever. Amen.
26 For this reason (AV)God gave them over to (AW)degrading passions; for their women exchanged natural relations for that which is contrary to nature, 27 and likewise the men, too, abandoned natural relations [s]with women and burned in their desire toward one another, (AX)males with males committing [t]shameful acts and receiving in [u]their own persons the due penalty of their error.
28 And just as they did not see fit [v]to acknowledge God, (AY)God gave them up to a depraved mind, to do those things that are not proper, 29 people having been filled with all unrighteousness, wickedness, greed, and evil; full of envy, murder, strife, deceit, and malice; they are (AZ)gossips, 30 slanderers, [w](BA)haters of God, insolent, arrogant, boastful, inventors of evil, (BB)disobedient to parents, 31 without understanding, untrustworthy, (BC)unfeeling, and unmerciful; 32 and although they know the ordinance of God, that those who practice such things are worthy of (BD)death, they not only do the same, but also (BE)approve of those who practice them.

1 Paul, a servant of Jesus Christ, called to be an apostle, separated unto the gospel of God,
2 (Which he had promised afore by his prophets in the holy scriptures,)
3 Concerning his Son Jesus Christ our Lord, which was made of the seed of David according to the flesh;
4 And declared to be the Son of God with power, according to the spirit of holiness, by the resurrection from the dead:
5 By whom we have received grace and apostleship, for obedience to the faith among all nations, for his name:
6 Among whom are ye also the called of Jesus Christ:
7 To all that be in Rome, beloved of God, called to be saints: Grace to you and peace from God our Father, and the Lord Jesus Christ.
8 First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for you all, that your faith is spoken of throughout the whole world.
9 For God is my witness, whom I serve with my spirit in the gospel of his Son, that without ceasing I make mention of you always in my prayers;
10 Making request, if by any means now at length I might have a prosperous journey by the will of God to come unto you.
11 For I long to see you, that I may impart unto you some spiritual gift, to the end ye may be established;
12 That is, that I may be comforted together with you by the mutual faith both of you and me.
13 Now I would not have you ignorant, brethren, that oftentimes I purposed to come unto you, (but was let hitherto,) that I might have some fruit among you also, even as among other Gentiles.

15 So, as much as in me is, I am ready to preach the gospel to you that are at Rome also.

17 For therein is the righteousness of God revealed from faith to faith: as it is written, The just shall live by faith.
18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who hold the truth in unrighteousness;
19 Because that which may be known of God is manifest in them; for God hath shewed it unto them.
20 For the invisible things of him from the creation of the world are clearly seen, being understood by the things that are made, even his eternal power and Godhead; so that they are without excuse:
21 Because that, when they knew God, they glorified him not as God, neither were thankful; but became vain in their imaginations, and their foolish heart was darkened.
22 Professing themselves to be wise, they became fools,
23 And changed the glory of the uncorruptible God into an image made like to corruptible man, and to birds, and fourfooted beasts, and creeping things.
24 Wherefore God also gave them up to uncleanness through the lusts of their own hearts, to dishonour their own bodies between themselves:
25 Who changed the truth of God into a lie, and worshipped and served the creature more than the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.
26 For this cause God gave them up unto vile affections: for even their women did change the natural use into that which is against nature:
27 And likewise also the men, leaving the natural use of the woman, burned in their lust one toward another; men with men working that which is unseemly, and receiving in themselves that recompence of their error which was meet.
28 And even as they did not like to retain God in their knowledge, God gave them over to a reprobate mind, to do those things which are not convenient;
29 Being filled with all unrighteousness, fornication, wickedness, covetousness, maliciousness; full of envy, murder, debate, deceit, malignity; whisperers,
30 Backbiters, haters of God, despiteful, proud, boasters, inventors of evil things, disobedient to parents,
31 Without understanding, covenantbreakers, without natural affection, implacable, unmerciful:
32 Who knowing the judgment of God, that they which commit such things are worthy of death, not only do the same, but have pleasure in them that do them.
