治愈生来瞎眼的人
9 耶稣往前走，看到一个生来就瞎眼的人。 2 他的门徒问他，说：“拉比，这个人生来就瞎眼，是谁犯了罪？是这个人，还是他的父母呢？”
3 耶稣回答：“既不是这个人犯了罪，也不是他的父母犯了罪，而是要让神的作为显明在他身上。 4 趁着白昼，我们[a]必须做那派我来者的工作；黑夜就要到了！那时候就没有人能做工了。 5 我在世上的时候，就是世界的光。”
6 耶稣说了这些话，就吐唾沫在地上，用唾沫和了一点泥，抹在瞎眼之人的眼睛上， 7 然后对他说：“到西罗亚池去洗一洗。”——“西罗亚”翻译出来就是“奉差派”。他去洗了，回来就能看见了。
8 他的邻居和原先看见他讨饭[b]的人就说：“这不是那一向坐着讨饭的人吗？”
9 有的说：“是这个人。”有的说：“不是，只是像他。”
那个人自己说：“就是我。”
10 他们问他：“那么，你的眼睛是怎么开的呢？”
11 他回答：“那个叫耶稣的人，和了些泥抹在我的眼睛上，吩咐我到西罗亚池子[c]去洗。我去一洗，就得以看见。”
12 他们问：“那个人在哪里？”
他说：“我不知道。”
被治愈之人的见证
13 他们把那原来瞎眼的人带到法利赛人那里。 14 耶稣和泥开他眼睛的那一天，正是安息日。 15 法利赛人也再次问他是怎么得以看见的。
他说：“他把泥抹在我的眼睛上，我一洗，就能看见了。”
16 法利赛人中的有些人说：“那个人不是从神那里来的，因为他不守安息日。”有些人却说：“一个罪人怎么能行这样的神迹呢？”他们之间就产生了分裂。
17 于是他们又问那瞎眼的：“既然他开了你的眼睛，那么你说他是什么人？”
他说：“是一位先知。”
18 那些犹太人不相信他以前瞎眼而后来得以看见，直等到把他的父母叫来， 19 问他们：“这是你们的儿子吗？你们说他生来是瞎眼的，现在怎么能看见呢？”
20 他的父母回答说：“这个人是我们的儿子，而且生来就瞎眼，这些我们知道。 21 至于他现在怎么能看见，我们就不知道了。是谁开了他的眼睛，我们也不知道。你们问他吧，他已经成年了，他自己会说的。” 22 他的父母说这些话，是因为怕那些犹太人。原来那些犹太人已经说好，如果有人承认耶稣是基督，就要把他赶出会堂。 23 所以他的父母说：“你们问他吧，他已经成年了。”
24 他们再次把那原来瞎眼的人叫来，对他说：“你要把荣耀归给神！[d]我们知道那人是个罪人。”
25 他回答：“他是不是罪人，我不知道。但有一件事我知道：我原来是瞎眼的，现在却能看见了！”
26 他们问：“他对你做了什么？怎么开了你的眼睛？”
27 他回答：“我已经告诉过你们，你们不听，为什么现在又想听呢？难道你们也想成为他的门徒吗？”
28 他们就辱骂他，说：“你才是那个人的门徒！我们是摩西的门徒！ 29 我们知道神对摩西说过话，至于这个人，我们就不知道他是从哪里来的！”
30 他回答说：“这就奇怪了！他开了我的眼睛，你们竟然不知道他是从哪里来的！ 31 我们知道神是不听罪人的，然而，如果有人敬畏神、遵行他的旨意，神就垂听他。 32 自古以来，没有人听说过谁开了生来就瞎眼之人的眼睛。 33 那个人如果不是从神而来的，他什么也不能做。”
34 他们回答他，说：“你完全是生在罪孽中的，还敢教训我们！”于是把他赶了出去。
灵里的瞎眼
35 耶稣听说他们把他赶出去了，后来找到他，说：“你信人子[e]吗？”
36 他回答说：“先生，人子是谁呢？愿我能信他。”
37 耶稣说：“你已经看到他了，现在与你说话的，就是那一位。”
38 他说：“主啊，我信！”就向耶稣下拜。
39 耶稣说：“我到这世上来是为了行审判，使看不见的能看见，使看得见的反而瞎了眼。”
40 与耶稣在那里的一些法利赛人听了这些话，就说：“难道我们也是瞎眼的吗？”
41 耶稣对他们说：“如果你们是瞎眼的，就没有罪了。但如今你们说‘我们能看见’，所以你们的罪仍然存在。

Jesus botar en man som föddes blind
9 När han vandrade längs vägen fick han se en man som var blind från födseln.
2 Herre, frågade lärjungarna, varför föddes denne man blind? Beror det på hans egna synder eller hans föräldrars?
3 Ingetdera, svarade Jesus, utan det skedde för att Guds kraft ska bli känd.
4 Så länge dagen varar måste vi utföra de uppgifter som vi fått av honom som har sänt mig. Snart är det natt, och allt arbete stannar av.
5 Men medan jag fortfarande är kvar i världen, ger jag den mitt ljus.
6 Sedan spottade han på marken och gjorde en deg av lera och strök den på den blinde mannens ögon
7 och sa till honom: Gå och tvätta dig i Siloas damm (ordet 'Siloa' betyder 'utsänd'). Mannen lydde Jesus och gick till dammen och tvättade sig, och när han kom tillbaka kunde han se.
8 Hans grannar och andra, som kände honom som en blind tiggare, frågade varandra: Är det här inte mannen som satt vid vägen och tiggde?
9 Jo, det är han, sa en del. Men andra sa: Nej, det är inte han, men han är lik honom.Men tiggaren sa: Jag är den mannen.
10 Sedan frågade de honom hur i all världen han kunde se. Vad hade egentligen hänt?
11 Då svarade han dem: En man, som heter Jesus, strök lera på mina ögon och bad mig gå till Siloas damm och tvätta av leran. Jag gjorde det, och nu kan jag se!
12 Var finns han nu? frågade de.Det vet jag inte, svarade han.
Fariseerna förhör mannen som varit blind
13 Då tog de mannen med sig till fariseerna.
14 Allt detta hände nämligen på sabbaten. Fariseerna förhörde honom därför om hur det hela hade gått till,
15 och han berättade för dem hur Jesus hade strukit lera på hans ögon, och hur han kunde se när han hade tvättat sig.
16 En del av dem sa då: I så fall är inte den mannen från Gud eftersom han arbetar på sabbaten.Andra sa: Men hur kan en vanlig syndare göra sådana under? Och det blev mycket delade meningar bland dem.
17 Sedan vände sig fariseerna till mannen, som hade varit blind, och frågade: Vad säger du själv om honom som öppnade dina ögon? Jag tror att han måste vara en profet sänd av Gud, svarade mannen.
18 De judiska ledarna tvivlade på att han över huvud taget varit blind och kallade därför på hans föräldrar
19 och frågade dem: Är det här er son? Föddes han blind? Om han gjorde det, hur kan han då se nu?
20 Hans föräldrar svarade: Visst vet vi att det här är vår son och att han föddes blind.
21 Men vi vet inte vad som fick honom att se eller vem som botade honom. Han är gammal nog att tala för sig själv. Fråga honom.
22-23 De sa detta av rädsla för de judiska ledarna. Dessa hade nämligen förklarat att den som sa att Jesus var Messias skulle uteslutas ur synagogan.
24 För andra gången kallade då fariseerna in mannen, som hade varit blind, och sa till honom: Låt Gud få äran och inte Jesus, för vi vet att han är en ond person.
25 Jag vet inte om han är god eller ond, svarade mannen, men en sak vet jag: Jag var blind, och nu kan jag se.
26 Men vad gjorde han? frågade de. Hur botade han dig?
27 Nu får det vara nog, ropade mannen. Jag har berättat det en gång. Lyssnade ni inte? Varför vill ni höra det om igen? Vill ni kanske också bli hans lärjungar?
28 Då förbannade de honom och sa: Du är lärjunge till honom, men vi är Moses lärjungar.
29 Vi vet att Gud har talat till Mose, men när det gäller den här mannen vet vi inget om honom.
30 Det var underligt, svarade mannen. Han kan bota blinda människor, och ändå vet ni inget om honom.
31 Men Gud lyssnar inte till onda människor, utan han lyssnar till dem som tillber honom och gör hans vilja.
32 Sedan världen kom till har det aldrig funnits någon som kunnat öppna ögonen på dem som föddes blinda.
33 Om den här mannen inte var från Gud, skulle han inte kunna göra det.
34 Du är född i synd!, ropade de. Försöker du undervisa oss? Och de kastade ut honom.
Jesus talar om andlig blindhet
35 Jesus fick höra vad som hade hänt, och när han träffade mannen frågade han: Tror du på Messias?
36 Mannen svarade: Herre, säg mig vem han är, så jag kan tro på honom.
37 Du har sett honom, sa Jesus, och han talar med dig.
38 Ja, Herre, sa mannen, jag tror. Och han föll på knä för Jesus.
39 Sedan sa Jesus till honom: Jag har kommit till världen för att ge syn åt dem som är andligt blinda och för att visa dem som inbillar sig att de ser att de inte gör det.
40 Fariseerna som stod där frågade då: Säger du att vi är blinda?
41 Om ni var blinda skulle ni inte vara skyldiga, svarade Jesus. Men er skuld står kvar eftersom ni påstår att ni vet vad ni gör.

9 And as Jesus passed by, he saw a man which was blind from his birth.
2 And his disciples asked him, saying, Master, who did sin, this man, or his parents, that he was born blind?
3 Jesus answered, Neither hath this man sinned, nor his parents: but that the works of God should be made manifest in him.
4 I must work the works of him that sent me, while it is day: the night cometh, when no man can work.
5 As long as I am in the world, I am the light of the world.
6 When he had thus spoken, he spat on the ground, and made clay of the spittle, and he anointed the eyes of the blind man with the clay,
7 And said unto him, Go, wash in the pool of Siloam, (which is by interpretation, Sent.) He went his way therefore, and washed, and came seeing.
8 The neighbours therefore, and they which before had seen him that he was blind, said, Is not this he that sat and begged?
9 Some said, This is he: others said, He is like him: but he said, I am he.
10 Therefore said they unto him, How were thine eyes opened?
11 He answered and said, A man that is called Jesus made clay, and anointed mine eyes, and said unto me, Go to the pool of Siloam, and wash: and I went and washed, and I received sight.
12 Then said they unto him, Where is he? He said, I know not.
13 They brought to the Pharisees him that aforetime was blind.
14 And it was the sabbath day when Jesus made the clay, and opened his eyes.
15 Then again the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight. He said unto them, He put clay upon mine eyes, and I washed, and do see.
16 Therefore said some of the Pharisees, This man is not of God, because he keepeth not the sabbath day. Others said, How can a man that is a sinner do such miracles? And there was a division among them.
17 They say unto the blind man again, What sayest thou of him, that he hath opened thine eyes? He said, He is a prophet.
18 But the Jews did not believe concerning him, that he had been blind, and received his sight, until they called the parents of him that had received his sight.
19 And they asked them, saying, Is this your son, who ye say was born blind? how then doth he now see?
20 His parents answered them and said, We know that this is our son, and that he was born blind:
21 But by what means he now seeth, we know not; or who hath opened his eyes, we know not: he is of age; ask him: he shall speak for himself.
22 These words spake his parents, because they feared the Jews: for the Jews had agreed already, that if any man did confess that he was Christ, he should be put out of the synagogue.
23 Therefore said his parents, He is of age; ask him.
24 Then again called they the man that was blind, and said unto him, Give God the praise: we know that this man is a sinner.
25 He answered and said, Whether he be a sinner or no, I know not: one thing I know, that, whereas I was blind, now I see.
26 Then said they to him again, What did he to thee? how opened he thine eyes?
27 He answered them, I have told you already, and ye did not hear: wherefore would ye hear it again? will ye also be his disciples?
28 Then they reviled him, and said, Thou art his disciple; but we are Moses' disciples.
29 We know that God spake unto Moses: as for this fellow, we know not from whence he is.
30 The man answered and said unto them, Why herein is a marvellous thing, that ye know not from whence he is, and yet he hath opened mine eyes.
31 Now we know that God heareth not sinners: but if any man be a worshipper of God, and doeth his will, him he heareth.
32 Since the world began was it not heard that any man opened the eyes of one that was born blind.
33 If this man were not of God, he could do nothing.
34 They answered and said unto him, Thou wast altogether born in sins, and dost thou teach us? And they cast him out.
35 Jesus heard that they had cast him out; and when he had found him, he said unto him, Dost thou believe on the Son of God?
36 He answered and said, Who is he, Lord, that I might believe on him?
37 And Jesus said unto him, Thou hast both seen him, and it is he that talketh with thee.
38 And he said, Lord, I believe. And he worshipped him.
39 And Jesus said, For judgment I am come into this world, that they which see not might see; and that they which see might be made blind.
40 And some of the Pharisees which were with him heard these words, and said unto him, Are we blind also?
41 Jesus said unto them, If ye were blind, ye should have no sin: but now ye say, We see; therefore your sin remaineth.

Jesus Heals a Man Born Blind
9 As he went along, he saw a man blind from birth. 2 His disciples asked him, “Rabbi,(A) who sinned,(B) this man(C) or his parents,(D) that he was born blind?”
3 “Neither this man nor his parents sinned,” said Jesus, “but this happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.(E) 4 As long as it is day,(F) we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. 5 While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”(G)
6 After saying this, he spit(H) on the ground, made some mud with the saliva, and put it on the man’s eyes. 7 “Go,” he told him, “wash in the Pool of Siloam”(I) (this word means “Sent”). So the man went and washed, and came home seeing.(J)
8 His neighbors and those who had formerly seen him begging asked, “Isn’t this the same man who used to sit and beg?”(K) 9 Some claimed that he was.
Others said, “No, he only looks like him.”
But he himself insisted, “I am the man.”
10 “How then were your eyes opened?” they asked.
11 He replied, “The man they call Jesus made some mud and put it on my eyes. He told me to go to Siloam and wash. So I went and washed, and then I could see.”(L)
12 “Where is this man?” they asked him.
“I don’t know,” he said.
The Pharisees Investigate the Healing
13 They brought to the Pharisees the man who had been blind. 14 Now the day on which Jesus had made the mud and opened the man’s eyes was a Sabbath.(M) 15 Therefore the Pharisees also asked him how he had received his sight.(N) “He put mud on my eyes,” the man replied, “and I washed, and now I see.”
16 Some of the Pharisees said, “This man is not from God, for he does not keep the Sabbath.”(O)
But others asked, “How can a sinner perform such signs?”(P) So they were divided.(Q)
17 Then they turned again to the blind man, “What have you to say about him? It was your eyes he opened.”
The man replied, “He is a prophet.”(R)
18 They(S) still did not believe that he had been blind and had received his sight until they sent for the man’s parents. 19 “Is this your son?” they asked. “Is this the one you say was born blind? How is it that now he can see?”
20 “We know he is our son,” the parents answered, “and we know he was born blind. 21 But how he can see now, or who opened his eyes, we don’t know. Ask him. He is of age; he will speak for himself.” 22 His parents said this because they were afraid of the Jewish leaders,(T) who already had decided that anyone who acknowledged that Jesus was the Messiah would be put out(U) of the synagogue.(V) 23 That was why his parents said, “He is of age; ask him.”(W)
24 A second time they summoned the man who had been blind. “Give glory to God by telling the truth,”(X) they said. “We know this man is a sinner.”(Y)
25 He replied, “Whether he is a sinner or not, I don’t know. One thing I do know. I was blind but now I see!”
26 Then they asked him, “What did he do to you? How did he open your eyes?”
27 He answered, “I have told you already(Z) and you did not listen. Why do you want to hear it again? Do you want to become his disciples too?”
28 Then they hurled insults at him and said, “You are this fellow’s disciple! We are disciples of Moses!(AA) 29 We know that God spoke to Moses, but as for this fellow, we don’t even know where he comes from.”(AB)
30 The man answered, “Now that is remarkable! You don’t know where he comes from, yet he opened my eyes. 31 We know that God does not listen to sinners. He listens to the godly person who does his will.(AC) 32 Nobody has ever heard of opening the eyes of a man born blind. 33 If this man were not from God,(AD) he could do nothing.”
34 To this they replied, “You were steeped in sin at birth;(AE) how dare you lecture us!” And they threw him out.(AF)
Spiritual Blindness
35 Jesus heard that they had thrown him out, and when he found him, he said, “Do you believe(AG) in the Son of Man?”(AH)
36 “Who is he, sir?” the man asked. “Tell me so that I may believe in him.”(AI)
37 Jesus said, “You have now seen him; in fact, he is the one speaking with you.”(AJ)
38 Then the man said, “Lord, I believe,” and he worshiped him.(AK)
39 Jesus said,[a] “For judgment(AL) I have come into this world,(AM) so that the blind will see(AN) and those who see will become blind.”(AO)
40 Some Pharisees who were with him heard him say this and asked, “What? Are we blind too?”(AP)
41 Jesus said, “If you were blind, you would not be guilty of sin; but now that you claim you can see, your guilt remains.(AQ)
