7 这事以后，耶稣周游加利利，不愿在犹太往来，因为犹太人想要杀他。 2 犹太人的住棚节快到了， 3 耶稣的弟弟就对他说：“你应当离开这里上犹太去，好让你的门徒也可以看见你所行的事； 4 因为没有人想引人注目，却在暗处行事的。你既然行这些事，就应该向世人显明自己。” 5 原来连他的弟弟也不信他。 6 耶稣就对他们说：“我的时候还没有到，你们的时候却常常是方便的。 7 世人不能恨你们，却憎恨我，因为我指证他们的行为是邪恶的。 8 你们上去过节吧！我现在不上去过这个节，因为我的时机还没有成熟。” 9 他说了这些话以后，仍然住在加利利。

10 然而，他的弟弟上去过节以后，他也上去过节，不是公开地去，却是暗中地去。 11 过节的时候，犹太人寻找耶稣，说：“那人在哪里呢？” 12 群众因他纷纷议论，有的说：“他是好人。”有的说：“不，他是欺骗众人的。” 13 但没有人敢公开讲论他，因为怕犹太人。
14 节期当中，耶稣上圣殿去教导人。 15 犹太人就希奇，说：“这个人没有学过，怎会通晓经书呢？” 16 耶稣说：“我的教训不是我自己的，而是出于那差我来的。 17 人若愿意遵行 神的旨意，就会知道这教训是出于 神，还是我凭着自己的意思说的。 18 那凭着自己的意思说的，是求自己的荣誉；但那寻求差他来者的荣耀的，才是真诚的人，在他里面没有不义。 19 摩西不是曾经把律法传给你们吗？你们竟然没有一个人遵行律法。你们为甚么想要杀我呢？” 20 群众回答：“你是鬼附的，谁想要杀你呢？” 21 耶稣说：“我行了一件事，你们都以为希奇。 22 摩西曾经把割礼传给你们（其实割礼不是从摩西开始的，而是从列祖开始的），因此，你们在安息日也给人行割礼。 23 如果人在安息日行割礼，为的是要遵守摩西的律法，那么我在安息日使一个人全身健康，你们就向我生气吗？ 24 不要按外貌判断人，总要公公平平地判断人。”
他是基督吗？
25 当时，有些耶路撒冷人说：“这不是他们想要杀的人吗？ 26 你看，他还在公开地讲话，竟然没有人对他说甚么，难道官长们真的认为这个人就是基督吗？ 27 可是我们知道这个人是从哪里来的，只是基督来的时候，没有人知道他是从哪里来的！” 28 当时耶稣在殿里教导人，大声说：“你们以为认识我，也知道我从哪里来，其实我不是凭着自己的意思来的，但那差我来的是真实的，你们却不认识他。 29 然而我认识他，因为我从他那里来，也是他差我来的。” 30 于是他们想逮捕他，只是没有人下手，因为他的时候还没有到。 31 群众中有许多人信了他。他们说：“基督来的时候，他所行的神迹，能比这人所行的更多吗？”
法利赛人等想逮捕耶稣
32 法利赛人听见群众纷纷议论这些关于耶稣的事，祭司长和法利赛人就派差役去逮捕耶稣。 33 于是耶稣说：“我跟你们在一起的时候不多了，我要回到那差我来的那里去。 34 你们要寻找我，却找不着；我所在的地方，你们是不能去的。” 35 犹太人彼此说：“这个人要到哪里去，使我们找不着他呢？难道他要到散居在希腊人中的犹太人那里，去教导希腊人吗？ 36 他说‘你们要寻找我，却找不着；我所在的地方，你们是不能去的’这话，是甚么意思呢？”
信的人要接受圣灵
37 节期的最后一天，就是最隆重的那一天，耶稣站着高声说：“人若渴了，可以到我这里来喝！ 38 信我的人，就像圣经所说的，从他的腹中要涌流出活水的江河来。” 39 他这话是指着信他的人要接受圣灵说的；那时圣灵还没有降临，因为耶稣还没有得着荣耀。
群众因耶稣起了纷争
40 群众中有人听了这些话，就说：“这真是‘那位先知’！” 41 另有人说：“他是基督。”还有人说：“基督是从加利利出来的吗？ 42 圣经不是说基督是大卫的后裔，是从大卫本乡伯利恒出来的吗？” 43 群众因为耶稣的缘故，就起了纷争。 44 他们中间有人想逮捕耶稣，只是没有人下手。
官长不信耶稣
45 差役回到祭司长和法利赛人那里。他们就问差役：“你们为甚么没有把他带来？” 46 差役回答：“从来没有人像他这样讲话的！” 47 法利赛人说：“连你们也受了欺骗吗？ 48 官长或法利赛人中间有谁是信他的呢？ 49 至于这群不明白律法的人，他们是可咒诅的。” 50 他们当中有一个人，就是以前来见耶稣的尼哥德慕，对他们说： 51 “如果不先听取他本人的口供，查明他所作的事，我们的律法怎能把他定罪呢？” 52 他们回答：“你也是从加利利出来的吗？你去考查一下，就知道先知是不会从加利利兴起的。”

7 After this, Jesus went from place to place in Galilee, for He would not travel in Judea because the Jews were seeking to kill Him.
2 Now the Jewish Feast of Tabernacles was drawing near.
3 So His brothers said to Him, Leave here and go into Judea, so that [a]Your disciples [there] may also see the works that You do. [This is no place for You.]
4 For no one does anything in secret when he wishes to be conspicuous and secure publicity. If You [must] do these things [if You must act like this], show Yourself openly and make Yourself known to the world!
5 For [even] His brothers did not believe in or adhere to or trust in or rely on Him either.
6 Whereupon Jesus said to them, My time (opportunity) has not come yet; but any time is suitable for you and your opportunity is ready any time [is always here].
7 The world cannot [be expected to] hate you, but it does hate Me because I denounce it for its wicked works and reveal that its doings are evil.
8 Go to the Feast yourselves. I am not [yet] going up to the Festival, because My time is not ripe. [My term is not yet completed; it is not time for Me to go.]
9 Having said these things to them, He stayed behind in Galilee.
10 But afterward, when His brothers had gone up to the Feast, He went up also, not publicly [not with a caravan], but by Himself quietly and as if He did not wish to be observed.
11 Therefore the Jews kept looking for Him at the Feast and asking, Where can He be? [Where is that Fellow?]
12 And there was among the mass of the people much whispered discussion and hot disputing about Him. Some were saying, He is good! [He is a good Man!] Others said, No, He misleads and deceives the people [gives them false ideas]!
13 But no one dared speak out boldly about Him for fear of [the leaders of] the Jews.
14 When the Feast was already half over, Jesus went up into the temple [[b]court] and began to teach.
15 The Jews were astonished. They said, How is it that this Man has learning [is so versed in the sacred Scriptures and in theology] when He has never studied?
16 Jesus answered them by saying, My teaching is not My own, but His Who sent Me.
17 If any man desires to do His will (God’s pleasure), he will know (have the needed illumination to recognize, and can tell for himself) whether the teaching is from God or whether I am speaking from Myself and of My own accord and on My own authority.
18 He who speaks on his own authority seeks to win honor for himself. [He whose teaching originates with himself seeks his own glory.] But He Who seeks the glory and is eager for the honor of Him Who sent Him, He is true; and there is no unrighteousness or falsehood or deception in Him.
19 Did not Moses give you the Law? And yet not one of you keeps the Law. [If that is the truth] why do you seek to kill Me [for not keeping it]?
20 The crowd answered Him, You are possessed by a demon! [You are raving!] Who seeks to kill You?
21 Jesus answered them, I did one work, and you all are astounded.(A)
22 Now Moses established circumcision among you—though it did not originate with Moses but with the previous patriarchs—and you circumcise a person [even] on the Sabbath day.
23 If, to avoid breaking the Law of Moses, a person undergoes circumcision on the Sabbath day, have you any cause to be angry with (indignant with, bitter against) Me for making a man’s whole body well on the Sabbath?
24 Be honest in your judgment and do not decide at a glance (superficially and by appearances); but judge fairly and righteously.
25 Then some of the Jerusalem people said, Is not this the Man they seek to kill?
26 And here He is speaking openly, and they say nothing to Him! Can it be possible that the rulers have discovered and know that this is truly the Christ?
27 No, we know where this Man comes from; when the Christ arrives, no one is to know from what place He comes.
28 Whereupon Jesus called out as He taught in the temple [[c]porches], Do you know Me, and do you know where I am from? I have not come on My own authority and of My own accord and as self-appointed, but the One Who sent Me is true (real, genuine, steadfast); and Him you do not know!
29 I know Him [Myself] because I come from His [very] presence, and it was He [personally] Who sent Me.
30 Therefore they were eager to arrest Him, but no one laid a hand on Him, for His hour (time) had not yet come.
31 And besides, many of the multitude believed in Him [adhered to Him, trusted in Him, relied on Him]. And they kept saying, When the Christ comes, will He do [can He be expected to do] more miracles and produce more proofs and signs than what this Man has done?
32 The Pharisees learned how the people were saying these things about Him under their breath; and the chief priests and Pharisees sent attendants (guards) to arrest Him.
33 Therefore Jesus said, For a little while I am [still] with you, and then I go back to Him Who sent Me.
34 You will look for Me, but you will not [be able to] find Me; where I am, you cannot come.
35 Then the Jews said among themselves, Where does this Man intend to go that we shall not find Him? Will He go to the Jews who are scattered in the Dispersion among the Greeks, and teach the Greeks?
36 What does this statement of His mean, You will look for Me and not be able to find Me, and, Where I am, you cannot come?
37 Now on the final and most important day of the Feast, Jesus stood, and He cried in a loud voice, If any man is thirsty, let him come to Me and drink!
38 He who believes in Me [who cleaves to and trusts in and relies on Me] as the Scripture has said, From his innermost being shall flow [continuously] springs and rivers of living water.
39 But He was speaking here of the Spirit, Whom those who believed (trusted, had faith) in Him were afterward to receive. For the [Holy] Spirit had not yet been given, because Jesus was not yet glorified (raised to honor).
40 Listening to those words, some of the multitude said, This is certainly and beyond doubt the Prophet!(B)
41 Others said, This is the Christ (the Messiah, Anointed One)! But some said, What? Does the Christ come out of Galilee?
42 Does not the Scripture tell us that the Christ will come from the offspring of David and from Bethlehem, the village where David lived?(C)
43 So there arose a division and dissension among the people concerning Him.
44 Some of them wanted to arrest Him, but no one [ventured and] laid hands on Him.
45 Meanwhile the attendants (guards) had gone back to the chief priests and Pharisees, who asked them, Why have you not brought Him here with you?
46 The attendants replied, Never has a man talked as this Man talks! [No mere man has ever spoken as He speaks!]
47 The Pharisees said to them, Are you also deluded and led astray? [Are you also swept off your feet?]
48 Has any of the authorities or of the Pharisees believed in Him?
49 As for this multitude (rabble) that does not know the Law, they are contemptible and doomed and accursed!
50 Then Nicodemus, who came to Jesus before at night and was one of them, asked,
51 Does our Law convict a man without giving him a hearing and finding out what he has done?
52 They answered him, Are you too from Galilee? Search [the Scriptures yourself], and you will see that no prophet comes (will rise to prominence) from Galilee.
53 [d]And they went [back], each to his own house.

7 Después de estas cosas, andaba Jesús en Galilea; pues no quería andar en Judea, porque los judíos le buscaban para matarle.
2 Estaba cerca la fiesta de los judíos, la de los tabernáculos.
3 Le dijeron, pues, sus hermanos: Sal de aquí, y vete a Judea, para que también tus discípulos vean las obras que haces.
4 Porque ninguno que procura darse a conocer hace algo en secreto. Si haces estas cosas, manifiéstate al mundo.
5 Porque ni aun sus hermanos creían en él.
6 Entonces Jesús les dijo: Mi tiempo aún no ha llegado, mas vuestro tiempo siempre está presto.
7 No puede el mundo aborreceros a vosotros; mas a mí me aborrece, porque yo testifico de él, que sus obras son malas.
8 Subid vosotros a la fiesta; yo no subo todavía a esa fiesta, porque mi tiempo aún no se ha cumplido.
9 Y habiéndoles dicho esto, se quedó en Galilea.
Jesús en la fiesta de los tabernáculos
10 Pero después que sus hermanos habían subido, entonces él también subió a la fiesta, no manifiestamente, sino como en secreto.
11 Y le buscaban los judíos en la fiesta, y decían: ¿Dónde está aquél?
12 Y había gran murmullo acerca de él entre la multitud, pues unos decían: Es bueno; pero otros decían: No, sino que engaña al pueblo.
13 Sin embargo, ninguno hablaba abiertamente de él, por miedo a los judíos.
14 Mas a la mitad de la fiesta, subió Jesús al templo, y enseñaba.
15 Y se maravillaban los judíos, diciendo: ¿Cómo sabe éste letras, sin haber estudiado?
16 Jesús les respondió y dijo: Mi doctrina no es mía, sino de aquel que me envió.
17 El que quiera hacer la voluntad de Dios, conocerá si la doctrina es de Dios, o si yo hablo por mi propia cuenta.
18 El que habla por su propia cuenta, busca su propia gloria; pero el que busca la gloria del que le envió, éste es verdadero, y no hay en él injusticia.
19 ¿No os dio Moisés la ley? Y ninguno de vosotros cumple la ley. ¿Por qué procuráis matarme?
20 Respondió la multitud y dijo: Demonio tienes; ¿quién procura matarte?
21 Jesús respondió y les dijo: Una obra hice, y todos os maravilláis.
22 Pues bien: Moisés os dio la circuncisión (no porque sea de Moisés, sino de los padres); y en sábado circuncidáis al hombre.
23 Si recibe el hombre la circuncisión en sábado, para que la ley de Moisés no sea quebrantada, ¿os enojáis conmigo porque sané completamente a un hombre en sábado?
24 No juzguéis según las apariencias, sino juzgad con justo juicio.
¿Es éste el Cristo?
25 Decían entonces unos de Jerusalén: ¿No es éste a quien buscan para matarle?
26 Pues mirad, habla públicamente, y no le dicen nada. ¿Habrán reconocido en verdad los gobernantes que éste es el Cristo?
27 Pero éste, sabemos de dónde es; mas cuando venga el Cristo, nadie sabrá de dónde es.
28 Jesús entonces, enseñando en el templo, alzó la voz y dijo: A mí me conocéis, y sabéis de dónde soy; y no he venido de mí mismo, pero el que me envió es verdadero, a quien vosotros no conocéis.
29 Pero yo le conozco, porque de él procedo, y él me envió.
30 Entonces procuraban prenderle; pero nadie puso sobre él la mano, porque aún no había llegado su hora.
31 Y muchos de la multitud creyeron en él, y decían: El Cristo, cuando venga, ¿acaso hará más señales que las que éste hace?
Los fariseos envían alguaciles para prender a Jesús
32 Los fariseos oyeron a la gente comentar de él estas cosas; y los principales sacerdotes y los fariseos enviaron alguaciles para que le prendiesen.
33 Entonces Jesús dijo: Todavía estaré con vosotros un poco de tiempo, y me iré al que me envió.
34 Me buscaréis, y no me hallaréis; y adonde yo esté, vosotros no podéis venir.
35 Entonces los judíos dijeron entre sí: ¿Adónde se va a ir éste, que no le hallemos? ¿Acaso va a ir a los dispersos entre los griegos, y a enseñar a los griegos?
36 ¿Qué significa esto que dijo: Me buscaréis, y no me hallaréis; y adonde yo esté, vosotros no podéis venir?
Ríos de agua viva
37 En el último y gran día de la fiesta, Jesús se puso en pie y alzó la voz, diciendo: Si alguno tiene sed, venga a mí y beba.
38 El que cree en mí, como dice la Escritura, de su interior correrán ríos de agua viva.
39 Esto dijo del Espíritu que iban a recibir los que creyesen en él; pues aún no había sido dado el Espíritu Santo, porque Jesús no había sido aún glorificado.
División entre la gente
40 Entonces algunos de la multitud, oyendo estas palabras, decían: Verdaderamente éste es el profeta.
41 Otros decían: Éste es el Cristo. Mas otros decían: ¿De Galilea ha de venir el Cristo?
42 ¿No dice la Escritura que del linaje de David, y de la aldea de Belén, de donde era David, ha de venir el Cristo?
43 Había, pues, disensión entre la gente a causa de él.
44 Y algunos de ellos querían prenderle; pero ninguno le echó mano.
¡Nunca ha hablado hombre así!
45 Los alguaciles vinieron a los principales sacerdotes y a los fariseos; y éstos les dijeron: ¿Por qué no le habéis traído?
46 Los alguaciles respondieron: ¡Jamás hombre alguno ha hablado como este hombre!
47 Entonces los fariseos les respondieron: ¿También vosotros habéis sido engañados?
48 ¿Acaso ha creído en él alguno de los gobernantes, o de los fariseos?
49 Mas esta gente que no conoce la ley, son unos malditos.
50 Les dijo Nicodemo, el que vino a él de noche, el cual era uno de ellos:
51 ¿Juzga acaso nuestra ley a un hombre si primero no le oye, y conoce lo que está haciendo?
52 Respondieron y le dijeron: ¿Acaso eres tú también galileo? Escudriña y ve que de Galilea nunca ha surgido ningún profeta.
