耶稣的弟弟不信祂
7 之后，耶稣周游加利利，不愿去犹太地区，因为犹太人想要杀祂。 2 犹太人的住棚节快到了， 3 耶稣的弟弟们对祂说：“离开这里，去犹太过节吧，好让你的门徒在那里也看见你所做的啊！ 4 因为人想出名，都不会暗地里行事，你既然可以做这些事，就把自己显给世人看吧！” 5 原来连祂的弟弟们也不信祂。
6 耶稣对他们说：“我的时候还没有到，你们什么时候都很方便。 7 世人不会恨你们，只会恨我，因为我指证他们行为邪恶。 8 你们先去过节吧，我现在还不上去，因为我的时候还没有到。” 9 耶稣说完这些话，仍留在加利利。
耶稣过住棚节
10 他们走了以后，耶稣避开了人们的注意，暗地里上去过节。 11 节期到了，犹太人到处查问：“耶稣在哪里？”
12 众人对祂议论纷纷，有些人说：“祂是好人，”有些说：“不，祂欺骗民众。” 13 不过，没有人敢公开议论祂的事，因为害怕犹太人。
14 节期约过了一半，耶稣来到圣殿教导人。 15 犹太人感到惊奇，说：“这个人没有受过教育，怎么懂得这么多呢？”
16 耶稣说：“我的教导不是出于我自己，而是出于差我来的那位。 17 如果你们愿意遵行上帝的旨意，就能分辨这些教导是出于上帝，还是出于我自己。 18 凭自己讲论的人是要寻求自己的荣耀，但人子真实无伪，毫无不义，祂是为了使差祂来的那位得荣耀。 19 摩西不是把律法传给了你们吗？你们却没有一个人遵守。为什么想要杀我呢？”

21 耶稣说：“我行了一件神迹，你们都感到惊奇。 22 摩西把割礼传给你们，你们也在安息日行割礼。其实割礼不是摩西定的，而是从祖先们的时代就有了。 23 为了避免违背摩西的律法，行割礼的那一天就算是安息日，你们还是照行。那么，我在安息日使一个病人完全康复，你们为什么责怪我呢？ 24 不要根据外表来断定是非，要按公义的原则判断。”
耶稣是基督吗
25 有些住在耶路撒冷的人说：“这不是他们要杀的那个人吗？ 26 你看祂这样公开讲道，居然没有人说什么，难道官长也真的认为祂是基督吗？ 27 可是基督来的时候，根本没有人知道祂从哪里来，我们却知道这个人是从哪里来的。”
28 于是，耶稣在圣殿里高声教导人说：“你们知道我是谁，也知道我是从哪里来的。其实我来不是出于自己的意思，差我来的那位是真实的，你们不认识祂。 29 但我认识祂，因为我是从祂那里来的，差我来的就是祂。” 30 他们听了，想捉拿耶稣，只是没有人下手，因为祂的时候还没有到。
31 人群中有许多人信了耶稣，他们说：“基督来的时候所行的神迹，难道会比这个人行得更多吗？”
32 法利赛人听见众人这样议论耶稣，就联合祭司长派差役去抓祂。 33 耶稣对众人说：“我暂时还会跟你们在一起，不久我要回到差我来的那位那里。 34 那时你们要找我却找不到，你们也不能去我所在的地方。”
35 犹太人彼此议论说：“祂要去哪里使我们找不着呢？难道祂要到我们犹太人侨居的希腊各地去教导希腊人吗？ 36 祂说我们找不到祂，又不能去祂所在的地方，是什么意思？”
活水的江河
37 节期最后一天，也是整个节期的高潮，耶稣站起来高声说：“人若渴了，可以到我这里来喝。 38 正如圣经所言，信我的人，‘从他里面要流出活水的江河来’。” 39 耶稣这话是指信祂的人要得到圣灵，但当时圣灵还没有降临，因为耶稣还没有得到荣耀。
40 听见这些话后，有些人说：“祂真是那位先知。” 41 也有些人说：“祂是基督。”还有些人说：“不会吧，基督怎么会出自加利利呢？ 42 圣经上不是说基督是大卫的后裔，要降生在大卫的故乡伯利恒吗？” 43 众人因为对耶稣的看法不同，就起了纷争。 44 有些人想抓祂，只是没有人下手。
犹太官长不信耶稣
45 祭司长和法利赛人看见差役空手回来，就问：“你们为什么不把祂带来呢？”
46 差役答道：“从未有人像祂那样说话！”
47 法利赛人说：“难道你们也被祂迷惑了吗？ 48 哪有官长和法利赛人信祂呢？ 49 这群不明白律法的民众该受咒诅！”
50 曾经夜访耶稣、属于他们当中一员的尼哥德慕说： 51 “难道不听被告申辩，不查明事实真相，我们的律法就定祂的罪吗？”
52 他们回答说：“难道你也是加利利人吗？你去查查看，就会知道没有先知是从加利利来的。”

Los hermanos de Jesús no creían en él
7 Tiempo después, Jesús recorrió la región de Galilea. No quería ir a Judea porque los jefes judíos lo buscaban para matarlo. 2 Como se acercaban los días de la fiesta judía de las enramadas, 3 sus hermanos le dijeron:
—Debes ir a Judea, para que tus seguidores puedan ver las grandes obras que haces. 4 Cuando uno quiere que todos lo conozcan, no hace nada en secreto. ¡Deja que todo el mundo sepa lo que haces!
5 Dijeron eso porque ni siquiera ellos le creían. 6 Pero Jesús les respondió:
—Aún no ha llegado el momento de que todos sepan que soy el Hijo de Dios. Para ustedes, cualquier hora es buena. 7 La gente de este mundo no los odia a ustedes. Pero a mí me odia porque les digo que su conducta es mala. 8 Vayan ustedes a la fiesta; yo no iré, porque todavía no ha llegado el momento de que todos sepan quién soy yo.
9 Después de decir esto, Jesús se quedó en Galilea.

10 Después de que se fueron sus hermanos, Jesús fue en secreto a la fiesta, sin decírselo a nadie.
11 Durante la fiesta, los jefes judíos buscaban a Jesús, y decían: «¿Dónde estará ese hombre?»
12 La gente hablaba mucho de él, y algunos decían: «Jesús es un buen hombre». Pero otros decían: «De bueno no tiene nada; es un embustero.»
13 Todos hablaban de él en secreto, porque tenían miedo de los jefes judíos.
14 Durante la fiesta, Jesús entró en el templo y empezó a enseñar. 15 Los jefes judíos estaban asombrados, y decían entre ellos: «¿Cómo es que éste sabe tantas cosas, si nunca ha estudiado?»
16 Jesús les contestó:
—Yo no invento lo que enseño. Dios me envió y me ha dicho lo que debo enseñar. 17 Si alguien quiere obedecer a Dios, podrá saber si yo enseño lo que Dios ordena, o si hablo por mi propia cuenta. 18 Quien habla por su propia cuenta sólo quiere que la gente lo admire. Pero yo sólo deseo que mi Padre, que me envió, reciba el honor que le corresponde; por eso siempre digo la verdad. 19 Moisés les dio a ustedes la ley y, sin embargo, ninguno la obedece. ¿Por qué quieren matarme?
20 La gente le contestó:
—¡Estás loco! ¿Quién quiere matarte?
21 Jesús les dijo:
—Todos ustedes se admiran por un solo milagro que hice. 22 Moisés les mandó practicar la ceremonia de la circuncisión, y ustedes la practican aunque caiga en sábado. Esa orden no viene del tiempo de Moisés, sino de antes, cuando aún vivían Abraham, Isaac y Jacob. 23 Entonces, si para obedecer la ley de Moisés ustedes circuncidan a un niño, aunque sea en sábado, ¿por qué se enojan conmigo por haber sanado a un hombre en sábado? 24 No digan que algo está mal sólo porque así les parece. Antes de afirmar algo, deben estar seguros de que así es.
¿Quién es Jesús?
25 Algunos de los que vivían en Jerusalén empezaron a preguntar:
«¿No es éste al que andan buscando para matarlo? 26 Pues ahí está, hablando con la gente; ¡y nadie le dice nada! ¿No será que nuestros gobernantes creen de verdad que él es el Mesías? 27 Pero ¡no puede ser! Porque, cuando venga el Mesías, nadie sabrá de dónde viene; en cambio, nosotros sabemos de dónde viene este hombre.»
28 Jesús estaba enseñando en el templo, y dijo con voz fuerte:
«En realidad, ustedes no saben quién soy yo, ni de dónde vengo. Yo no he venido por mi propia cuenta. He sido enviado por alguien en quien se puede confiar, y a quien ustedes no conocen. 29 Yo sí lo conozco, pues vengo de él, y él es quien me envió.»
30 Algunos hombres de Jerusalén quisieron arrestar a Jesús, pero no pudieron, pues todavía no había llegado el momento de que todos supieran quién era. 31 Sin embargo, muchos creyeron en él, y decían: «Ni el Mesías podría hacer los milagros que hace este hombre.»
Los fariseos quieren arrestar a Jesús
32 Los fariseos oyeron lo que la gente decía. Entonces ellos y los sacerdotes principales enviaron a unos guardias del templo para que arrestaran a Jesús. 33 Pero Jesús dijo: «Estaré con ustedes sólo un poco más de tiempo. Luego volveré a donde está el que me envió. 34 Ustedes me buscarán, pero no me encontrarán, porque no pueden ir a donde yo voy.»
35 Los jefes judíos comenzaron a preguntarse entre ellos:
«¿Y a dónde podrá ir, que no podamos encontrarlo? ¿Acaso piensa ir a vivir entre los judíos de otros países, y enseñar también a los que no son judíos? 36 ¿Qué quiere decir con eso de que: “Me buscarán, pero no me encontrarán, porque no pueden ir a donde yo voy?”»
Ríos de agua viva
37 El último día de la fiesta de las enramadas era el más importante. Ese día, Jesús se puso en pie y dijo con voz fuerte: «El que tenga sed, venga a mí. 38 Ríos de agua viva brotarán del corazón de los que creen en mí. Así lo dice la Biblia.»
39 Al decir esto, Jesús estaba hablando del Espíritu de Dios, que recibirían los que creyeran en él. Porque mientras Jesús no muriera y resucitara, el Espíritu no se haría presente.
¿Realmente quién es Jesús?
40 Cuando algunos de los que estaban allí oyeron esto, dijeron: «De veras que este hombre es el profeta[a] que Dios nos iba a enviar.» 41 Otros decían: «Este hombre es el Mesías». Y aun otros decían: «El Mesías no puede venir de la región de Galilea. 42 La Biblia dice que el Mesías debe ser de la misma familia del rey David, y que nacerá en Belén, el pueblo de donde era David.» 43 Así que nadie se ponía de acuerdo acerca de quién era Jesús. 44 Y aunque no faltaba quien quería llevárselo a la cárcel, nadie se atrevía a tocarlo.
Los jefes judíos no creían en Jesús
45 Los guardias del templo regresaron a donde estaban los sacerdotes principales y los fariseos, quienes les preguntaron:
—¿Por qué no trajeron a Jesús?
46 Los guardias contestaron:
—¡Nunca ha hablado nadie como lo hace ese hombre!
47 Los fariseos les dijeron:
—¿También ustedes se han dejado engañar? 48 ¿Acaso ha creído en él alguno de nuestros jefes, o alguno de los fariseos? 49 Los que creen en él no conocen la ley de Moisés, y por eso Dios los castigará.
50 Allí estaba Nicodemo, el fariseo que una noche fue a ver a Jesús, y les dijo:
51 —Según nuestras leyes, no podemos condenar a nadie sin antes escucharlo.
52 Ellos le respondieron:
—¿También tú crees que de Galilea puede salir algo bueno? Estudia la Biblia y verás que de allá no ha venido ningún profeta.
53 Después de esto, cada quien se fue a su casa.

Incredulidad de los hermanos de Jesús
7 Después de estas cosas, andaba Jesús en Galilea; pues no quería andar en Judea, porque los judíos procuraban matarle. 2 Estaba cerca la fiesta de los judíos, la de los tabernáculos;(A) 3 y le dijeron sus hermanos: Sal de aquí, y vete a Judea, para que también tus discípulos vean las obras que haces. 4 Porque ninguno que procura darse a conocer hace algo en secreto. Si estas cosas haces, manifiéstate al mundo. 5 Porque ni aun sus hermanos creían en él. 6 Entonces Jesús les dijo: Mi tiempo aún no ha llegado, mas vuestro tiempo siempre está presto. 7 No puede el mundo aborreceros a vosotros; mas a mí me aborrece, porque yo testifico de él, que sus obras son malas. 8 Subid vosotros a la fiesta; yo no subo todavía a esa fiesta, porque mi tiempo aún no se ha cumplido. 9 Y habiéndoles dicho esto, se quedó en Galilea.

10 Pero después que sus hermanos habían subido, entonces él también subió a la fiesta, no abiertamente, sino como en secreto. 11 Y le buscaban los judíos en la fiesta, y decían: ¿Dónde está aquel? 12 Y había gran murmullo acerca de él entre la multitud, pues unos decían: Es bueno; pero otros decían: No, sino que engaña al pueblo. 13 Pero ninguno hablaba abiertamente de él, por miedo a los judíos.
14 Mas a la mitad de la fiesta subió Jesús al templo, y enseñaba. 15 Y se maravillaban los judíos, diciendo: ¿Cómo sabe este letras, sin haber estudiado? 16 Jesús les respondió y dijo: Mi doctrina no es mía, sino de aquel que me envió. 17 El que quiera hacer la voluntad de Dios, conocerá si la doctrina es de Dios, o si yo hablo por mi propia cuenta. 18 El que habla por su propia cuenta, su propia gloria busca; pero el que busca la gloria del que le envió, este es verdadero, y no hay en él injusticia. 19 ¿No os dio Moisés la ley, y ninguno de vosotros cumple la ley? ¿Por qué procuráis matarme? 20 Respondió la multitud y dijo: Demonio tienes; ¿quién procura matarte? 21 Jesús respondió y les dijo: Una obra hice, y todos os maravilláis. 22 Por cierto, Moisés os dio la circuncisión(B) (no porque sea de Moisés, sino de los padres(C)); y en el día de reposo[a] circuncidáis al hombre. 23 Si recibe el hombre la circuncisión en el día de reposo,[b] para que la ley de Moisés no sea quebrantada, ¿os enojáis conmigo porque en el día de reposo[c] sané completamente a un hombre?(D) 24 No juzguéis según las apariencias, sino juzgad con justo juicio.
¿Es este el Cristo?
25 Decían entonces unos de Jerusalén: ¿No es este a quien buscan para matarle? 26 Pues mirad, habla públicamente, y no le dicen nada. ¿Habrán reconocido en verdad los gobernantes que este es el Cristo? 27 Pero este, sabemos de dónde es; mas cuando venga el Cristo, nadie sabrá de dónde sea. 28 Jesús entonces, enseñando en el templo, alzó la voz y dijo: A mí me conocéis, y sabéis de dónde soy; y no he venido de mí mismo, pero el que me envió es verdadero, a quien vosotros no conocéis. 29 Pero yo le conozco, porque de él procedo, y él me envió. 30 Entonces procuraban prenderle; pero ninguno le echó mano, porque aún no había llegado su hora. 31 Y muchos de la multitud creyeron en él, y decían: El Cristo, cuando venga, ¿hará más señales que las que este hace?
Los fariseos envían alguaciles para prender a Jesús
32 Los fariseos oyeron a la gente que murmuraba de él estas cosas; y los principales sacerdotes y los fariseos enviaron alguaciles para que le prendiesen. 33 Entonces Jesús dijo: Todavía un poco de tiempo estaré con vosotros, e iré al que me envió. 34 Me buscaréis, y no me hallaréis; y a donde yo estaré, vosotros no podréis venir. 35 Entonces los judíos dijeron entre sí: ¿Adónde se irá este, que no le hallemos? ¿Se irá a los dispersos entre los griegos, y enseñará a los griegos? 36 ¿Qué significa esto que dijo: Me buscaréis, y no me hallaréis; y a donde yo estaré, vosotros no podréis venir?
Ríos de agua viva
37 En el último y gran día de la fiesta,(E) Jesús se puso en pie y alzó la voz, diciendo: Si alguno tiene sed, venga a mí y beba. 38 El que cree en mí, como dice la Escritura, de su interior correrán ríos de agua viva.(F) 39 Esto dijo del Espíritu que habían de recibir los que creyesen en él; pues aún no había venido el Espíritu Santo, porque Jesús no había sido aún glorificado.
División entre la gente
40 Entonces algunos de la multitud, oyendo estas palabras, decían: Verdaderamente este es el profeta. 41 Otros decían: Este es el Cristo. Pero algunos decían: ¿De Galilea ha de venir el Cristo? 42 ¿No dice la Escritura que del linaje de David, y de la aldea de Belén,(G) de donde era David, ha de venir el Cristo? 43 Hubo entonces disensión entre la gente a causa de él. 44 Y algunos de ellos querían prenderle; pero ninguno le echó mano.
¡Nunca ha hablado hombre así!
45 Los alguaciles vinieron a los principales sacerdotes y a los fariseos; y estos les dijeron: ¿Por qué no le habéis traído? 46 Los alguaciles respondieron: ¡Jamás hombre alguno ha hablado como este hombre! 47 Entonces los fariseos les respondieron: ¿También vosotros habéis sido engañados? 48 ¿Acaso ha creído en él alguno de los gobernantes, o de los fariseos? 49 Mas esta gente que no sabe la ley, maldita es. 50 Les dijo Nicodemo, el que vino a él de noche,(H) el cual era uno de ellos: 51 ¿Juzga acaso nuestra ley a un hombre si primero no le oye, y sabe lo que ha hecho? 52 Respondieron y le dijeron: ¿Eres tú también galileo? Escudriña y ve que de Galilea nunca se ha levantado profeta.

Jesus Goes to the Festival of Tabernacles
7 After this, Jesus went around in Galilee. He did not want[a] to go about in Judea because the Jewish leaders(A) there were looking for a way to kill him.(B) 2 But when the Jewish Festival of Tabernacles(C) was near, 3 Jesus’ brothers(D) said to him, “Leave Galilee and go to Judea, so that your disciples there may see the works you do. 4 No one who wants to become a public figure acts in secret. Since you are doing these things, show yourself to the world.” 5 For even his own brothers did not believe in him.(E)
6 Therefore Jesus told them, “My time(F) is not yet here; for you any time will do. 7 The world cannot hate you, but it hates me(G) because I testify that its works are evil.(H) 8 You go to the festival. I am not[b] going up to this festival, because my time(I) has not yet fully come.” 9 After he had said this, he stayed in Galilee.
10 However, after his brothers had left for the festival, he went also, not publicly, but in secret. 11 Now at the festival the Jewish leaders were watching for Jesus(J) and asking, “Where is he?”
12 Among the crowds there was widespread whispering about him. Some said, “He is a good man.”
Others replied, “No, he deceives the people.”(K) 13 But no one would say anything publicly about him for fear of the leaders.(L)
Jesus Teaches at the Festival
14 Not until halfway through the festival did Jesus go up to the temple courts and begin to teach.(M) 15 The Jews(N) there were amazed and asked, “How did this man get such learning(O) without having been taught?”(P)
16 Jesus answered, “My teaching is not my own. It comes from the one who sent me.(Q) 17 Anyone who chooses to do the will of God will find out(R) whether my teaching comes from God or whether I speak on my own. 18 Whoever speaks on their own does so to gain personal glory,(S) but he who seeks the glory of the one who sent him is a man of truth; there is nothing false about him. 19 Has not Moses given you the law?(T) Yet not one of you keeps the law. Why are you trying to kill me?”(U)
20 “You are demon-possessed,”(V) the crowd answered. “Who is trying to kill you?”
21 Jesus said to them, “I did one miracle,(W) and you are all amazed. 22 Yet, because Moses gave you circumcision(X) (though actually it did not come from Moses, but from the patriarchs),(Y) you circumcise a boy on the Sabbath. 23 Now if a boy can be circumcised on the Sabbath so that the law of Moses may not be broken, why are you angry with me for healing a man’s whole body on the Sabbath? 24 Stop judging by mere appearances, but instead judge correctly.”(Z)
Division Over Who Jesus Is
25 At that point some of the people of Jerusalem began to ask, “Isn’t this the man they are trying to kill?(AA) 26 Here he is, speaking publicly, and they are not saying a word to him. Have the authorities(AB) really concluded that he is the Messiah?(AC) 27 But we know where this man is from;(AD) when the Messiah comes, no one will know where he is from.”
28 Then Jesus, still teaching in the temple courts,(AE) cried out, “Yes, you know me, and you know where I am from.(AF) I am not here on my own authority, but he who sent me is true.(AG) You do not know him, 29 but I know him(AH) because I am from him and he sent me.”(AI)
30 At this they tried to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him,(AJ) because his hour had not yet come.(AK) 31 Still, many in the crowd believed in him.(AL) They said, “When the Messiah comes, will he perform more signs(AM) than this man?”
32 The Pharisees heard the crowd whispering such things about him. Then the chief priests and the Pharisees sent temple guards to arrest him.
33 Jesus said, “I am with you for only a short time,(AN) and then I am going to the one who sent me.(AO) 34 You will look for me, but you will not find me; and where I am, you cannot come.”(AP)
35 The Jews said to one another, “Where does this man intend to go that we cannot find him? Will he go where our people live scattered(AQ) among the Greeks,(AR) and teach the Greeks? 36 What did he mean when he said, ‘You will look for me, but you will not find me,’ and ‘Where I am, you cannot come’?”(AS)
37 On the last and greatest day of the festival,(AT) Jesus stood and said in a loud voice, “Let anyone who is thirsty come to me and drink.(AU) 38 Whoever believes(AV) in me, as Scripture has said,(AW) rivers of living water(AX) will flow from within them.”[c](AY) 39 By this he meant the Spirit,(AZ) whom those who believed in him were later to receive.(BA) Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified.(BB)
40 On hearing his words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.”(BC)
41 Others said, “He is the Messiah.”
Still others asked, “How can the Messiah come from Galilee?(BD) 42 Does not Scripture say that the Messiah will come from David’s descendants(BE) and from Bethlehem,(BF) the town where David lived?” 43 Thus the people were divided(BG) because of Jesus. 44 Some wanted to seize him, but no one laid a hand on him.(BH)
Unbelief of the Jewish Leaders
45 Finally the temple guards went back to the chief priests and the Pharisees, who asked them, “Why didn’t you bring him in?”
46 “No one ever spoke the way this man does,”(BI) the guards replied.
47 “You mean he has deceived you also?”(BJ) the Pharisees retorted. 48 “Have any of the rulers or of the Pharisees believed in him?(BK) 49 No! But this mob that knows nothing of the law—there is a curse on them.”
50 Nicodemus,(BL) who had gone to Jesus earlier and who was one of their own number, asked, 51 “Does our law condemn a man without first hearing him to find out what he has been doing?”
52 They replied, “Are you from Galilee, too? Look into it, and you will find that a prophet does not come out of Galilee.”(BM)
[The earliest manuscripts and many other ancient witnesses do not have John 7:53—8:11. A few manuscripts include these verses, wholly or in part, after John 7:36, John 21:25, Luke 21:38 or Luke 24:53.]
