耶稣使五千人吃饱
6 事后，耶稣渡过加利利湖，就是提比哩亚海。 2 许多人因为见过耶稣治病的神迹，就跟随了祂。 3 耶稣到了山上，与门徒一起坐下来。 4 那时，犹太人的逾越节快到了。 5 耶稣举目看见一大群人向祂走来，就对腓力说：“我们到哪里去买饼给他们吃呢？” 6 祂这样说是想试试腓力，其实祂知道应该怎么做。
7 腓力回答说：“就算买二百个银币[a]的饼，也不够他们每人一口啊！”
8 另外一个门徒——西门·彼得的弟弟安得烈对耶稣说： 9 “这里有个小孩子带了五个大麦饼和两条鱼。不过，这么多人，这一点东西实在无济于事。”
10 耶稣说：“你们叫大家坐下。”那地方草很多，众人便坐下来，当时在场的男人大约有五千。 11 耶稣拿起饼来祝谢后，分给坐着的众人，然后又照样分鱼，众人可以随意吃。 12 他们吃饱后，耶稣对门徒说：“把剩下的零碎收拾起来，免得浪费。”
13 他们便把大家吃剩的那五个大麦饼的零碎收拾起来，装满了十二个篮子。 14 大家看见耶稣行的这个神迹，都说：“这人真是那位要来到世上的先知！” 15 耶稣知道他们想强行立祂做王，便独自退到山上。
耶稣在湖面上行走
16 傍晚的时候，门徒来到湖边， 17 上了船，去湖对岸的迦百农。天色已暗，耶稣还没到他们那里。 18 忽然，湖面上狂风大作，波涛汹涌。 19 门徒摇橹，大约行了五六公里，突然看见耶稣在水面上朝他们的船走来，他们很害怕。 20 耶稣对他们说：“是我，不要怕。” 21 于是门徒欢然接祂上船，船立刻到了目的地。
生命之粮
22 第二天，留在对岸的众人看见那里只有一条船，耶稣没有和门徒一起坐船离开。 23 后来有几条从提比哩亚来的小船停泊在岸边，靠近主祝谢后让众人吃饼的地方。 24 他们发现耶稣和门徒都不在那里，就乘船到迦百农去找祂。
25 他们在湖对岸找到了耶稣，对祂说：“老师，你什么时候到这里来的？”
26 耶稣回答说：“我实实在在地告诉你们，你们找我，并不是因为看见了神迹，而是因为你们有饼吃，并且吃饱了。 27 不要为那必坏的食物劳苦，要为那存到永生的食物，就是人子要赐给你们的食物劳苦，因为父上帝把这权柄交给了人子。”
28 众人问祂：“我们要怎样做，才算是做上帝的工作呢？”
29 耶稣说：“信上帝所差来的那位，就是做上帝的工作。”
30 他们又问：“那么，你行什么神迹让我们看了可以信你呢？你要做什么呢？ 31 我们的祖先在旷野有吗哪吃，正如圣经上说，‘祂赐下天粮给他们吃。’”
32 耶稣却说：“我实实在在地告诉你们，不是摩西从天上赐给了你们粮食，而是我父将天上的真粮食赐给你们。 33 因为上帝赐的粮就是从天降下、赐生命给世人的那位。”
34 他们说：“先生，求你把这种粮食天天赐给我们吧。”
35 耶稣说：“我就是生命的粮，到我这里来的人必定不饿，信我的人必永远不渴。 36 但我对你们说过，你们虽然亲眼看见我，仍然不信。 37 凡父赐给我的人，必到我这里来。到我这里来的，我总不丢弃他。 38 因为我从天上下来，不是要成就自己的旨意，而是要成就差我来者的旨意。 39 差我来者的旨意是，祂所赐给我的，我一个也不失掉，在末日我要叫他们复活。 40 因为我父的旨意是要叫一切看见儿子并相信的人得到永生，在末日，我要叫他们复活。”
41 犹太人听见耶稣说自己是从天上降下来的粮，就小声议论， 42 说：“这不是约瑟的儿子耶稣吗？祂的父母，我们都认识，祂现在怎么能说自己是从天上降下来的呢？”
43 耶稣回答他们说：“你们不用议论纷纷。 44 如果不是差我来的父吸引人到我这里来，没有人能来。到我这里来的，在末日，我要叫他复活。 45 先知书上这样说，‘他们都要受上帝的训诲’，这里是指凡听从父的教导又去效法的人，都会到我这里来。 46 这并不是说有人见过父，唯独从上帝而来的那位见过父。 47 我实实在在地告诉你们，信我的人有永生， 48 因为我是生命的粮。 49 你们的祖先在旷野吃过吗哪，还是死了。 50 但这是从天上降下来的粮，人吃了就不死。 51 我就是天上降下来的生命之粮，人吃了这粮，必永远活着。我将要赐下的粮就是我的肉，是为了让世人得到生命。”
52 犹太人开始彼此争论，说：“这个人怎么能把自己的肉给我们吃呢？”
53 耶稣说：“我实实在在地告诉你们，如果你们不吃人子的肉，不喝人子的血，就没有生命。 54 吃我肉、喝我血的人有永生，在末日，我要叫他复活。 55 因为我的肉是真粮食，我的血是真饮品， 56 吃我肉、喝我血的人常在我里面，我也常在他里面。 57 永活的父差我来，我是靠祂而活。同样，吃我肉的人也靠我而活。 58 我是从天上降下来的真粮，吃这粮的人必永远活着，不像你们的祖先，虽然吃过吗哪，最后还是死了。”
59 这番话是耶稣在迦百农会堂里教导人的时候讲的。
永生之道
60 祂的许多门徒听了，就议论说：“这话实在难懂，谁能接受呢？”
61 耶稣知道门徒在议论，就说：“这话叫你们失去信心吗？ 62 如果你们看见人子升到祂原来所在的地方，会怎么样呢？ 63 叫人活着的是灵，肉体毫无作用。我对你们说的话就是灵，就是生命。 64 然而，你们中间有些人不信。”因为耶稣一开始就知道谁不信祂、谁会出卖祂。
65 祂继续说：“所以我曾对你们说，如果不是我父赐恩，没有人能到我这里来。”
66 从此，很多门徒离开了，不再跟从耶稣。
67 于是耶稣问那十二个门徒：“你们也要离开我吗？”
68 西门·彼得答道：“主啊！你有永生之道，我们还跟从谁呢？ 69 我们已经相信并且知道你是上帝的圣者。”
70 耶稣说：“我不是拣选了你们十二个人吗？但其中有一个是魔鬼。” 71 耶稣这话是指着加略人西门的儿子犹大说的，因为他是十二个门徒之一，后来出卖了耶稣。

La moltiplicazione dei pani
6 Dopo questi fatti, Gesù andò all'altra riva del mare di Galilea, cioè di Tiberìade, 2 e una grande folla lo seguiva, vedendo i segni che faceva sugli infermi. 3 Gesù salì sulla montagna e là si pose a sedere con i suoi discepoli. 4 Era vicina la Pasqua, la festa dei Giudei. 5 Alzati quindi gli occhi, Gesù vide che una grande folla veniva da lui e disse a Filippo: «Dove possiamo comprare il pane perché costoro abbiano da mangiare?». 6 Diceva così per metterlo alla prova; egli infatti sapeva bene quello che stava per fare. 7 Gli rispose Filippo: «Duecento denari di pane non sono sufficienti neppure perché ognuno possa riceverne un pezzo». 8 Gli disse allora uno dei discepoli, Andrea, fratello di Simon Pietro: 9 «C'è qui un ragazzo che ha cinque pani d'orzo e due pesci; ma che cos'è questo per tanta gente?». 10 Rispose Gesù: «Fateli sedere». C'era molta erba in quel luogo. Si sedettero dunque ed erano circa cinquemila uomini. 11 Allora Gesù prese i pani e, dopo aver reso grazie, li distribuì a quelli che si erano seduti, e lo stesso fece dei pesci, finché ne vollero. 12 E quando furono saziati, disse ai discepoli: «Raccogliete i pezzi avanzati, perché nulla vada perduto». 13 Li raccolsero e riempirono dodici canestri con i pezzi dei cinque pani d'orzo, avanzati a coloro che avevano mangiato.
14 Allora la gente, visto il segno che egli aveva compiuto, cominciò a dire: «Questi è davvero il profeta che deve venire nel mondo!». 15 Ma Gesù, sapendo che stavano per venire a prenderlo per farlo re, si ritirò di nuovo sulla montagna, tutto solo.
Gesù raggiunge i discepoli camminando sul mare
16 Venuta intanto la sera, i suoi discepoli scesero al mare 17 e, saliti in una barca, si avviarono verso l'altra riva in direzione di Cafarnao. Era ormai buio, e Gesù non era ancora venuto da loro. 18 Il mare era agitato, perché soffiava un forte vento. 19 Dopo aver remato circa tre o quattro miglia, videro Gesù che camminava sul mare e si avvicinava alla barca, ed ebbero paura. 20 Ma egli disse loro: «Sono io, non temete». 21 Allora vollero prenderlo sulla barca e rapidamente la barca toccò la riva alla quale erano diretti.
Discorso nella sinagoga di Cafarnao
22 Il giorno dopo, la folla, rimasta dall'altra parte del mare, notò che c'era una barca sola e che Gesù non era salito con i suoi discepoli sulla barca, ma soltanto i suoi discepoli erano partiti. 23 Altre barche erano giunte nel frattempo da Tiberìade, presso il luogo dove avevano mangiato il pane dopo che il Signore aveva reso grazie. 24 Quando dunque la folla vide che Gesù non era più là e nemmeno i suoi discepoli, salì sulle barche e si diresse alla volta di Cafarnao alla ricerca di Gesù. 25 Trovatolo di là dal mare, gli dissero: «Rabbì, quando sei venuto qua?».
26 Gesù rispose: «In verità, in verità vi dico, voi mi cercate non perché avete visto dei segni, ma perché avete mangiato di quei pani e vi siete saziati. 27 Procuratevi non il cibo che perisce, ma quello che dura per la vita eterna, e che il Figlio dell'uomo vi darà. Perché su di lui il Padre, Dio, ha messo il suo sigillo». 28 Gli dissero allora: «Che cosa dobbiamo fare per compiere le opere di Dio?». 29 Gesù rispose: «Questa è l'opera di Dio: credere in colui che egli ha mandato».
30 Allora gli dissero: «Quale segno dunque tu fai perché vediamo e possiamo crederti? Quale opera compi? 31 I nostri padri hanno mangiato la manna nel deserto, come sta scritto: Diede loro da mangiare un pane dal cielo». 32 Rispose loro Gesù: «In verità, in verità vi dico: non Mosè vi ha dato il pane dal cielo, ma il Padre mio vi dà il pane dal cielo, quello vero; 33 il pane di Dio è colui che discende dal cielo e dà la vita al mondo». 34 Allora gli dissero: «Signore, dacci sempre questo pane». 35 Gesù rispose: «Io sono il pane della vita; chi viene a me non avrà più fame e chi crede in me non avrà più sete. 36 Vi ho detto però che voi mi avete visto e non credete. 37 Tutto ciò che il Padre mi dà, verrà a me; colui che viene a me, non lo respingerò, 38 perché sono disceso dal cielo non per fare la mia volontà, ma la volontà di colui che mi ha mandato. 39 E questa è la volontà di colui che mi ha mandato, che io non perda nulla di quanto egli mi ha dato, ma lo risusciti nell'ultimo giorno. 40 Questa infatti è la volontà del Padre mio, che chiunque vede il Figlio e crede in lui abbia la vita eterna; io lo risusciterò nell'ultimo giorno».
41 Intanto i Giudei mormoravano di lui perché aveva detto: «Io sono il pane disceso dal cielo». 42 E dicevano: «Costui non è forse Gesù, il figlio di Giuseppe? Di lui conosciamo il padre e la madre. Come può dunque dire: Sono disceso dal cielo?».
43 Gesù rispose: «Non mormorate tra di voi. 44 Nessuno può venire a me, se non lo attira il Padre che mi ha mandato; e io lo risusciterò nell'ultimo giorno. 45 Sta scritto nei profeti: E tutti saranno ammaestrati da Dio. Chiunque ha udito il Padre e ha imparato da lui, viene a me. 46 Non che alcuno abbia visto il Padre, ma solo colui che viene da Dio ha visto il Padre. 47 In verità, in verità vi dico: chi crede ha la vita eterna.
48 Io sono il pane della vita. 49 I vostri padri hanno mangiato la manna nel deserto e sono morti; 50 questo è il pane che discende dal cielo, perché chi ne mangia non muoia. 51 Io sono il pane vivo, disceso dal cielo. Se uno mangia di questo pane vivrà in eterno e il pane che io darò è la mia carne per la vita del mondo».
52 Allora i Giudei si misero a discutere tra di loro: «Come può costui darci la sua carne da mangiare?». 53 Gesù disse: «In verità, in verità vi dico: se non mangiate la carne del Figlio dell'uomo e non bevete il suo sangue, non avrete in voi la vita. 54 Chi mangia la mia carne e beve il mio sangue ha la vita eterna e io lo risusciterò nell'ultimo giorno. 55 Perché la mia carne è vero cibo e il mio sangue vera bevanda. 56 Chi mangia la mia carne e beve il mio sangue dimora in me e io in lui. 57 Come il Padre, che ha la vita, ha mandato me e io vivo per il Padre, così anche colui che mangia di me vivrà per me. 58 Questo è il pane disceso dal cielo, non come quello che mangiarono i padri vostri e morirono. Chi mangia questo pane vivrà in eterno».
59 Queste cose disse Gesù, insegnando nella sinagoga a Cafarnao. 60 Molti dei suoi discepoli, dopo aver ascoltato, dissero: «Questo linguaggio è duro; chi può intenderlo?». 61 Gesù, conoscendo dentro di sé che i suoi discepoli proprio di questo mormoravano, disse loro: «Questo vi scandalizza? 62 E se vedeste il Figlio dell'uomo salire là dov'era prima? 63 E' lo Spirito che dà la vita, la carne non giova a nulla; le parole che vi ho dette sono spirito e vita. 64 Ma vi sono alcuni tra voi che non credono». Gesù infatti sapeva fin da principio chi erano quelli che non credevano e chi era colui che lo avrebbe tradito. 65 E continuò: «Per questo vi ho detto che nessuno può venire a me, se non gli è concesso dal Padre mio».
66 Da allora molti dei suoi discepoli si tirarono indietro e non andavano più con lui.
La confessione di Pietro
67 Disse allora Gesù ai Dodici: «Forse anche voi volete andarvene?». 68 Gli rispose Simon Pietro: «Signore, da chi andremo? Tu hai parole di vita eterna; 69 noi abbiamo creduto e conosciuto che tu sei il Santo di Dio». 70 Rispose Gesù: «Non ho forse scelto io voi, i Dodici? Eppure uno di voi è un diavolo!». Egli parlava di Giuda, figlio di Simone Iscariota: questi infatti stava per tradirlo, uno dei Dodici.

6 After these things Jesus went over the sea of Galilee, which is the sea of Tiberias.
2 And a great multitude followed him, because they saw his miracles which he did on them that were diseased.
3 And Jesus went up into a mountain, and there he sat with his disciples.
4 And the passover, a feast of the Jews, was nigh.
5 When Jesus then lifted up his eyes, and saw a great company come unto him, he saith unto Philip, Whence shall we buy bread, that these may eat?
6 And this he said to prove him: for he himself knew what he would do.
7 Philip answered him, Two hundred pennyworth of bread is not sufficient for them, that every one of them may take a little.
8 One of his disciples, Andrew, Simon Peter's brother, saith unto him,
9 There is a lad here, which hath five barley loaves, and two small fishes: but what are they among so many?
10 And Jesus said, Make the men sit down. Now there was much grass in the place. So the men sat down, in number about five thousand.
11 And Jesus took the loaves; and when he had given thanks, he distributed to the disciples, and the disciples to them that were set down; and likewise of the fishes as much as they would.
12 When they were filled, he said unto his disciples, Gather up the fragments that remain, that nothing be lost.
13 Therefore they gathered them together, and filled twelve baskets with the fragments of the five barley loaves, which remained over and above unto them that had eaten.
14 Then those men, when they had seen the miracle that Jesus did, said, This is of a truth that prophet that should come into the world.
15 When Jesus therefore perceived that they would come and take him by force, to make him a king, he departed again into a mountain himself alone.
16 And when even was now come, his disciples went down unto the sea,
17 And entered into a ship, and went over the sea toward Capernaum. And it was now dark, and Jesus was not come to them.
18 And the sea arose by reason of a great wind that blew.
19 So when they had rowed about five and twenty or thirty furlongs, they see Jesus walking on the sea, and drawing nigh unto the ship: and they were afraid.
20 But he saith unto them, It is I; be not afraid.
21 Then they willingly received him into the ship: and immediately the ship was at the land whither they went.
22 The day following, when the people which stood on the other side of the sea saw that there was none other boat there, save that one whereinto his disciples were entered, and that Jesus went not with his disciples into the boat, but that his disciples were gone away alone;
23 (Howbeit there came other boats from Tiberias nigh unto the place where they did eat bread, after that the Lord had given thanks:)
24 When the people therefore saw that Jesus was not there, neither his disciples, they also took shipping, and came to Capernaum, seeking for Jesus.
25 And when they had found him on the other side of the sea, they said unto him, Rabbi, when camest thou hither?
26 Jesus answered them and said, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Ye seek me, not because ye saw the miracles, but because ye did eat of the loaves, and were filled.
27 Labour not for the meat which perisheth, but for that meat which endureth unto everlasting life, which the Son of man shall give unto you: for him hath God the Father sealed.
28 Then said they unto him, What shall we do, that we might work the works of God?
29 Jesus answered and said unto them, This is the work of God, that ye believe on him whom he hath sent.
30 They said therefore unto him, What sign shewest thou then, that we may see, and believe thee? what dost thou work?
31 Our fathers did eat manna in the desert; as it is written, He gave them bread from heaven to eat.
32 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Moses gave you not that bread from heaven; but my Father giveth you the true bread from heaven.
33 For the bread of God is he which cometh down from heaven, and giveth life unto the world.
34 Then said they unto him, Lord, evermore give us this bread.
35 And Jesus said unto them, I am the bread of life: he that cometh to me shall never hunger; and he that believeth on me shall never thirst.
36 But I said unto you, That ye also have seen me, and believe not.
37 All that the Father giveth me shall come to me; and him that cometh to me I will in no wise cast out.
38 For I came down from heaven, not to do mine own will, but the will of him that sent me.
39 And this is the Father's will which hath sent me, that of all which he hath given me I should lose nothing, but should raise it up again at the last day.
40 And this is the will of him that sent me, that every one which seeth the Son, and believeth on him, may have everlasting life: and I will raise him up at the last day.
41 The Jews then murmured at him, because he said, I am the bread which came down from heaven.
42 And they said, Is not this Jesus, the son of Joseph, whose father and mother we know? how is it then that he saith, I came down from heaven?
43 Jesus therefore answered and said unto them, Murmur not among yourselves.
44 No man can come to me, except the Father which hath sent me draw him: and I will raise him up at the last day.
45 It is written in the prophets, And they shall be all taught of God. Every man therefore that hath heard, and hath learned of the Father, cometh unto me.
46 Not that any man hath seen the Father, save he which is of God, he hath seen the Father.
47 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that believeth on me hath everlasting life.
48 I am that bread of life.
49 Your fathers did eat manna in the wilderness, and are dead.
50 This is the bread which cometh down from heaven, that a man may eat thereof, and not die.
51 I am the living bread which came down from heaven: if any man eat of this bread, he shall live for ever: and the bread that I will give is my flesh, which I will give for the life of the world.
52 The Jews therefore strove among themselves, saying, How can this man give us his flesh to eat?
53 Then Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Except ye eat the flesh of the Son of man, and drink his blood, ye have no life in you.
54 Whoso eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, hath eternal life; and I will raise him up at the last day.
55 For my flesh is meat indeed, and my blood is drink indeed.
56 He that eateth my flesh, and drinketh my blood, dwelleth in me, and I in him.
57 As the living Father hath sent me, and I live by the Father: so he that eateth me, even he shall live by me.
58 This is that bread which came down from heaven: not as your fathers did eat manna, and are dead: he that eateth of this bread shall live for ever.
59 These things said he in the synagogue, as he taught in Capernaum.
60 Many therefore of his disciples, when they had heard this, said, This is an hard saying; who can hear it?
61 When Jesus knew in himself that his disciples murmured at it, he said unto them, Doth this offend you?
62 What and if ye shall see the Son of man ascend up where he was before?
63 It is the spirit that quickeneth; the flesh profiteth nothing: the words that I speak unto you, they are spirit, and they are life.
64 But there are some of you that believe not. For Jesus knew from the beginning who they were that believed not, and who should betray him.
65 And he said, Therefore said I unto you, that no man can come unto me, except it were given unto him of my Father.
66 From that time many of his disciples went back, and walked no more with him.
67 Then said Jesus unto the twelve, Will ye also go away?
68 Then Simon Peter answered him, Lord, to whom shall we go? thou hast the words of eternal life.
69 And we believe and are sure that thou art that Christ, the Son of the living God.
70 Jesus answered them, Have not I chosen you twelve, and one of you is a devil?
71 He spake of Judas Iscariot the son of Simon: for he it was that should betray him, being one of the twelve.

6 După aceea(A), Isus S-a dus dincolo de Marea Galileii, numită Marea Tiberiadei. 2 O mare gloată mergea după El, pentru că vedea semnele pe care le făcea cu cei bolnavi. 3 Isus S-a suit pe munte şi şedea acolo cu ucenicii Săi. 4 Paştele, praznicul iudeilor, erau(B) aproape. 5 Isus(C) Şi-a ridicat ochii şi a văzut că o mare gloată vine spre El. Şi a zis lui Filip: „De unde avem să cumpărăm pâini ca să mănânce oamenii aceştia?” 6 Spunea lucrul acesta ca să-l încerce, pentru că ştia ce are de gând să facă. 7 Filip i-a răspuns: „Pâinile, pe care le-am putea cumpăra cu(D) două sute de lei[a], n-ar ajunge ca fiecare să capete puţintel din ele”. 8 Unul din ucenicii Săi, Andrei, fratele lui Simon Petru, I-a zis: 9 „Este aici un băieţel care are cinci pâini de orz şi doi peşti, dar(E) ce sunt acestea la atâţia?” 10 Isus a zis: „Spuneţi oamenilor să şadă jos”. În locul acela era multă iarbă. Oamenii au şezut jos, în număr de aproape cinci mii. 11 Isus a luat pâinile, a mulţumit lui Dumnezeu, le-a împărţit ucenicilor, iar ucenicii le-au împărţit celor ce şedeau jos; de asemenea, le-a dat şi din peşti cât au voit. 12 După ce s-au săturat, Isus a zis ucenicilor Săi: „Strângeţi firimiturile care au rămas, ca să nu se piardă nimic”. 13 Le-au adunat, deci, şi au umplut douăsprezece coşuri cu firimiturile care rămăseseră din cele cinci pâini de orz, după ce mâncaseră toţi. 14 Oamenii aceia, când au văzut minunea pe care o făcuse Isus, ziceau: „Cu adevărat, acesta este prorocul(F) cel aşteptat în lume”. 15 Isus, fiindcă ştia că au de gând să vină să-L ia cu sila ca să-L facă împărat, S-a dus iarăşi la munte, numai El singur.
Isus umblă pe mare
16 Când(G) s-a înserat, ucenicii Lui s-au coborât la marginea mării. 17 S-au suit într-o corabie şi treceau marea, ca să se ducă în Capernaum. Se întunecase, şi Isus tot nu venise la ei. 18 Sufla un vânt puternic şi marea era întărâtată. 19 După ce au vâslit cam douăzeci şi cinci sau treizeci de stadii, văd pe Isus umblând pe mare şi apropiindu-Se de corabie. Şi s-au înfricoşat. 20 Dar Isus le-a zis: „Eu sunt, nu vă temeţi!” 21 Voiau deci să-L ia în corabie. Şi corabia a sosit îndată la locul spre care mergeau.

22 Norodul, care rămăsese de cealaltă parte a mării, băgase de seamă că acolo nu era decât o corabie şi că Isus nu Se suise în corabia aceasta cu ucenicii Lui, ci ucenicii plecaseră singuri cu ea. 23 A doua zi, sosiseră alte corăbii din Tiberiada, aproape de locul unde mâncaseră ei pâinea, după ce Domnul mulţumise lui Dumnezeu. 24 Când au văzut noroadele că nici Isus, nici ucenicii Lui nu erau acolo, s-au suit şi ele în corăbiile acestea şi s-au dus la Capernaum să caute pe Isus. 25 Când L-au găsit, dincolo de mare, I-au zis: „Învăţătorule, când ai venit aici?” 26 Drept răspuns, Isus le-a zis: „Adevărat, adevărat vă spun că Mă căutaţi nu pentru că aţi văzut semne, ci pentru că aţi mâncat din pâinile acelea şi v-aţi săturat. 27 Lucraţi nu pentru mâncarea pieritoare, ci pentru(H) mâncarea care rămâne pentru viaţa veşnică şi pe care v-o va da Fiul omului; căci Tatăl, adică Însuşi Dumnezeu, pe(I) El L-a însemnat cu pecetea Lui.” 28 Ei I-au zis: „Ce să facem ca să săvârşim lucrările lui Dumnezeu?” 29 Isus le-a răspuns: „Lucrarea pe care o cere Dumnezeu este aceasta(J): să credeţi în Acela pe care L-a trimis El”. 30 „Ce(K) semn faci Tu, deci”, I-au zis ei, „ca să-l vedem şi să credem în Tine? Ce lucrezi Tu? 31 Părinţii(L) noştri au mâncat mană în pustie, după cum este scris: ‘Le-a dat să mănânce pâine(M) din cer’.” 32 Isus le-a zis: „Adevărat, adevărat vă spun că Moise nu v-a dat pâinea din cer, ci Tatăl Meu vă dă adevărata pâine din cer, 33 căci Pâinea lui Dumnezeu este aceea care se pogoară din cer şi dă lumii viaţa”. 34 „Doamne(N)”, I-au zis ei, „dă-ne totdeauna această pâine”. 35 Isus le-a zis: „Eu(O) sunt Pâinea vieţii. Cine(P) vine la Mine nu va flămânzi niciodată şi cine crede în Mine nu va înseta niciodată. 36 Dar(Q) v-am spus că M-aţi şi văzut şi tot nu credeţi. 37 Tot(R) ce-Mi dă Tatăl va ajunge la Mine şi pe(S) cel ce vine la Mine, nu-l voi izgoni afară, 38 căci M-am pogorât din cer ca să fac nu(T) voia Mea, ci(U) voia Celui ce M-a trimis. 39 Şi voia Celui ce M-a trimis este să(V) nu pierd nimic din tot ce Mi-a dat El, ci să-l înviez în ziua de apoi. 40 Voia Tatălui meu este ca(W) oricine vede pe Fiul şi crede în El să aibă viaţa veşnică, şi Eu îl voi învia în ziua de apoi.” 41 Iudeii cârteau împotriva Lui, pentru că zisese: „Eu sunt Pâinea care s-a pogorât din cer”. 42 Şi ziceau: „Oare(X) nu este acesta Isus, fiul lui Iosif, pe ai cărui tată şi mamă îi cunoaştem? Cum dar zice El: ‘Eu M-am pogorât din cer’?” 43 Isus le-a răspuns: „Nu cârtiţi între voi. 44 Nimeni(Y) nu poate veni la Mine dacă nu-l atrage Tatăl, care M-a trimis; şi Eu îl voi învia în ziua de apoi. 45 În(Z) proroci este scris: ‘Toţi vor fi învăţaţi de Dumnezeu’. Aşa că oricine a ascultat pe Tatăl şi a primit învăţătura Lui vine la Mine. 46 Nu(AA) că cineva a văzut pe Tatăl, afară de(AB) Acela care vine de la Dumnezeu, da, Acela a văzut pe Tatăl. 47 Adevărat, adevărat vă spun că cine(AC) crede în Mine are viaţa veşnică. 48 Eu(AD) sunt Pâinea vieţii. 49 Părinţii(AE) voştri au mâncat mană în pustie şi au murit. 50 Pâinea(AF) care se pogoară din cer este de aşa fel ca cineva să mănânce din ea şi să nu moară. 51 Eu sunt Pâinea(AG) vie, care(AH) s-a pogorât din cer. Dacă mănâncă cineva din pâinea aceasta, va trăi în veac, şi pâinea pe care o voi da Eu este trupul Meu, pe care îl voi da pentru viaţa lumii.” 52 La auzul acestor cuvinte, iudeii se certau(AI) între ei şi ziceau: „Cum(AJ) poate omul acesta să ne dea trupul Lui să-l mâncăm?” 53 Isus le-a zis: „Adevărat, adevărat vă spun că, dacă nu mâncaţi(AK) trupul Fiului omului şi dacă nu beţi sângele Lui, n-aveţi viaţa în voi înşivă. 54 Cine(AL) mănâncă trupul Meu şi bea sângele Meu are viaţa veşnică, şi Eu îl voi învia în ziua de apoi. 55 Căci trupul Meu este cu adevărat o hrană şi sângele Meu este cu adevărat o băutură. 56 Cine mănâncă trupul Meu şi bea sângele Meu rămâne(AM) în Mine, şi Eu rămân în el. 57 După cum Tatăl, care este viu, M-a trimis pe Mine şi Eu trăiesc prin Tatăl, tot aşa, cine Mă mănâncă pe Mine va trăi şi el prin Mine. 58 Astfel(AN) este pâinea care s-a pogorât din cer, nu ca mana pe care au mâncat-o părinţii voştri, şi totuşi au murit; cine mănâncă pâinea aceasta va trăi în veac.” 59 Isus a spus aceste lucruri în sinagogă, când învăţa pe oameni în Capernaum.
Unii ucenici Îl părăsesc. Mărturisirea lui Petru
60 Mulţi(AO) din ucenicii Lui, după ce au auzit aceste cuvinte, au zis: „Vorbirea aceasta este prea de tot: cine poate s-o sufere?” 61 Isus, care ştia în Sine că ucenicii Săi cârteau împotriva vorbirii acesteia, le-a zis: „Vorbirea aceasta este pentru voi o pricină de poticnire? 62 Dar(AP) dacă aţi vedea pe Fiul omului suindu-Se unde era mai înainte?… 63 Duhul(AQ) este acela care dă viaţă, carnea nu foloseşte la nimic; cuvintele, pe care vi le-am spus Eu sunt duh şi viaţă. 64 Dar sunt(AR) unii din voi care nu cred.” Căci Isus(AS) ştia de la început cine erau cei ce nu cred şi cine era cel ce avea să-L vândă. 65 Şi a adăugat: „Tocmai de aceea v-am(AT) spus că nimeni nu poate să vină la Mine dacă nu i-a fost dat de Tatăl Meu”. 66 Din(AU) clipa aceea, mulţi din ucenicii Lui s-au întors înapoi şi nu mai umblau cu El. 67 Atunci, Isus a zis celor doisprezece: „Voi nu vreţi să vă duceţi?” 68 „Doamne”, I-a răspuns Simon Petru, „la cine să ne ducem? Tu ai cuvintele(AV) vieţii veşnice. 69 Şi(AW) noi am crezut şi am ajuns la cunoştinţa că Tu eşti Hristosul, Sfântul lui Dumnezeu.” 70 Isus le-a răspuns: „Nu(AX) v-am ales Eu pe voi cei doisprezece? Şi totuşi unul(AY) din voi este un drac.” 71 Vorbea despre Iuda, fiul lui Simon Iscarioteanul, căci el avea să-L vândă; el, unul din cei doisprezece.
