耶稣在毕士大池边治病
5 这事以后，犹太人的一个节期到了，耶稣便上耶路撒冷。 2 耶路撒冷靠近羊门的地方有一个水池，希伯来话叫毕士大，池边有五条走廊， 3 里面躺着瞎眼的、瘸腿的、瘫痪的等许多病人。 4 他们都在等候天使来搅动池水。水动时，第一个下去的，无论患什么病都会痊愈。[a]
5 那里有一个人病了三十八年。 6 耶稣看他躺着，知道他病了很久，就问他：“你想痊愈吗？”
7 那人回答说：“先生，水动的时候，没有人把我放进池子里，我要下去的时候，别人总是先我一步。”
8 耶稣对他说：“起来，拿起你的垫子走吧！”
9 那人立刻痊愈了，拿起垫子开始行走。那天正好是安息日， 10 犹太人便对那人说：“今天是安息日，你不可拿着垫子走路。”
11 他说：“那位医好我的叫我拿起垫子走。”
12 他们问他：“叫你拿起垫子走的人是谁？”
13 那人不知道是谁，因为那里人多，耶稣已经躲开了。
14 后来，耶稣在圣殿里遇见他，对他说：“现在你已经完全好了，别再犯罪了，免得你遭遇更不幸的事。”
15 那人便去告诉犹太人医好他的是耶稣。 16 因为耶稣在安息日给人治病，犹太人开始迫害祂。 17 耶稣对他们说：“我父一直在工作，我也一直在工作。”
18 犹太人听了，更想杀祂，因祂不但违犯了安息日的规矩，还称上帝为父，把自己看作与上帝平等。
圣子的权柄
19 耶稣说：“我实实在在地告诉你们，子凭自己什么都不能做，唯有看见父做什么，子才做什么。无论父做什么，子也照样做。 20 父因为爱子，便把自己的一切作为给祂看，而且还要把比这些更大的作为给祂看，叫你们惊奇。 21 父如何使死人复活、赐生命给他们，子也照样想赐生命给谁，就赐给谁。 22 父不审判人，祂将审判的事全交给子， 23 叫人尊敬子如同尊敬父。不尊敬子的，就是不尊敬差子来的父。
24 “我实实在在地告诉你们，谁听从我的话，又信差我来的那位，谁就有永生，不被定罪，已经出死入生了。 25 我实实在在地告诉你们，时候快到了，现在就是，死人将听见上帝儿子的声音，听见的将存活。 26 因为正如父自己是生命的源头，祂也同样让子作生命的源头， 27 又把审判的权柄交给祂，因为祂是人子。 28 你们不要因此而惊奇，时候一到，一切在坟墓里的死人都要听见上帝儿子的声音， 29 他们都要从坟墓里出来。行善的人复活后得永生，作恶的人复活后被定罪。”
见证耶稣
30 耶稣继续说：“我凭自己不能做什么，我按父上帝的旨意审判，我的审判是公平的；因为我不是按自己的旨意行，而是按差我来者的旨意行。
31 “如果我为自己做见证，我的见证是无效的。 32 然而，有别的人给我做见证，我知道他为我做的见证是真实的。 33 你们曾派人到约翰那里，他为真理做过见证。 34 其实我并不需要人的见证，我之所以提起这些事是为了使你们得救。 35 约翰是一盏点亮的明灯，你们情愿暂时享受他的光。 36 但是我有比约翰更大的见证，因为父交待我去完成的工作，就是我现在所做的工作，证明我是父差来的。 37 差我来的父曾亲自为我做过见证。你们从未听过祂的声音，从未见过祂， 38 心里也没有祂的道，因为你们不信祂所差来的那位。 39 你们研读圣经，以为从圣经中可以得到永生。其实为我做见证的正是这圣经， 40 但你们却不肯到我这里来得生命。
41 “我不接受人所给予的荣耀， 42 我知道你们没有爱上帝的心。 43 我奉我父的名来，你们不接受我；若有人奉自己的名来，你们却接受他。 44 你们喜欢互相恭维，却不追求从独一上帝来的荣耀，怎能信我呢？ 45 不要以为我会在父面前控告你们，其实控告你们的是你们一直信赖的摩西。 46 你们若信摩西，就应该信我，因为他的书里也提到我。 47 如果你们连他写的都不信，又怎能信我的话呢？”

治愈池边的病人
5 这些事以后，犹太人的一个节日到了，耶稣就上耶路撒冷去。 2 在耶路撒冷的羊门附近有一个池子，希伯来语[a]叫做“贝示达[b]”，那里有五道柱廊。 3 柱廊里躺着一群患病的，有瞎眼的、瘸腿的、瘫痪的。他们正等着池水动起来， 4 因为主的天使按时下到池子里搅动池水。每次水动起来时，第一个下到池子里的人，无论患什么病都会痊愈。[c]
5 那里有一个人，病了三十八年。 6 耶稣见这个人躺在那里，知道他已经病了很久，就问他：“你想痊愈吗？”
7 那个病人回答：“先生，池水被搅动的时候，没有人把我放进池子里；而正当我要下去的时候，别人总比我先下去。”
8 耶稣对他说：“起来，拿起你的垫子走路吧！” 9 那个人立刻痊愈了，就拿起他的垫子开始走路。
那天是安息日， 10 所以那些犹太人对那得了痊愈的人说：“今天是安息日，你拿着垫子是不可以的！”
11 他就回答：“是那个使我痊愈的人对我说‘拿起你的垫子走路吧。’”
12 他们问：“对你说‘拿起[d]垫子走路’的那个人是谁？” 13 那得了痊愈的人并不知道他是谁，因为那里有一群人，而耶稣已经抽身离去了。
14 这些事以后，耶稣在圣殿里找到他，对他说：“看，你已经痊愈了。不要再犯罪，免得更严重的事临到你。” 15 那个人就去向那些犹太人报告说，使他痊愈的是耶稣。
父与子
16 那些犹太人之所以逼迫耶稣，[e]是因为他在安息日做这些事。 17 耶稣却对他们说：“直到如今，我父在做工，我也在做工。” 18 为此，那些犹太人更想要杀他，因为他不仅干犯了安息日，还称神是他的父，把自己当做与神同等的。
19 耶稣对他们说：“我确确实实地告诉你们：子凭着自己什么也不能做，只有看见父所做的，子才能做，因为父所做的事，子也同样地做。 20 原来，父喜爱子，把自己所做的一切都给他看，还要把比这些更大的事给他看，使你们感到惊奇。 21 因为父怎样使死人复活，赐他们生命，子也照样按自己的意愿赐人生命。 22 事实上，父并不审判任何人，而把一切审判的事都交给了子， 23 好使所有的人都尊重子，就像尊重父那样。不尊重子的，就是不尊重派他来的父。
生命与审判
24 “我确确实实地告诉你们：谁听我的话，又相信派我来的那一位，谁就有永恒的生命。他不但不被定罪，而且已经出死入生了。
25 “我确确实实地告诉你们：时候就要到了，现在就是了！当死人听见神儿子的声音时，听到的人就将活了。 26 原来，父怎样在自己里面有生命，也照样使子在自己里面有生命； 27 并且把审判的权柄交给了他，因为他是人子。 28 你们不要为此感到惊奇：时候就要到了！那时所有在坟墓里的人，都会听到他的声音， 29 并且要出来——行善的人复活得生命，作恶的人复活被定罪。
30 “我凭自己什么也不能做。我怎么听见，就怎么审判，而且我的审判是公义的，因为我不求自己的意思，而求那派我来者[f]的意思。
为子做见证
31 “如果我为自己做见证，我的见证就无效[g]。 32 为我做见证的另有一位，并且我知道，他为我做的见证是有效[h]的。 33 你们曾经派人到约翰那里，他为真理做了见证。 34 其实我所接受的见证不是从人来的。不过我说这些话，是为了要你们得救。 35 约翰是一盏燃烧发光的灯，你们情愿在他的光里快乐一时。
36 “我有比约翰更大的见证，因为父交给我工作要我去完成。我现在做的这些工作正为我见证：就是父差派了我。 37 派我来的父也亲自为我做了见证。你们从来没有听到他的声音，也没有看到他的相貌， 38 更没有把他的话语[i]存在你们里面，因为你们不信他所派来的那一位。 39 你们查考经文，因你们以为从中可以得到永恒的生命。其实这经文就是为我做见证的。 40 可是你们不肯到我这里来得生命。
41 “我不接受从人而来的荣耀。 42 不过我了解你们，你们里面没有属神的爱。 43 我奉我父的名来了，你们却不接受我；如果有别人奉自己的名而来，你们倒会接受他。 44 你们彼此接受荣耀，却不寻求从独一的神而来的荣耀，那怎么能信呢？ 45 不要以为我将要在父面前控告你们，有一位控告你们的，就是你们所仰赖的摩西。 46 事实上，如果你们信摩西，就会信我，因为他写了关于我的事； 47 如果你们不相信他所写的，又怎么会相信我的话呢？”

5 After this there was a feast of the Jews; and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 Now there is at Jerusalem by the sheep market a pool, which is called in the Hebrew tongue Bethesda, having five porches.
3 In these lay a great multitude of impotent folk, of blind, halt, withered, waiting for the moving of the water.
4 For an angel went down at a certain season into the pool, and troubled the water: whosoever then first after the troubling of the water stepped in was made whole of whatsoever disease he had.
5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
10 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.
11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.
12 Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?
13 And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.
14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.
15 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.
16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.
17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.
18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
32 There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.
33 Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.
34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved.
35 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.
36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
38 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.
39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
41 I receive not honour from men.
42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me.
47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?

5 Después de esto había una fiesta de los judíos, y Jesús subió a Jerusalén. 2 En Jerusalén, junto a la puerta de las Ovejas, hay un estanque con cinco pórticos que en hebreo se llama Betesda[a]. 3 En ellos yacía una multitud de enfermos, ciegos, cojos y paralíticos 4 [b].
5 Se encontraba allí cierto hombre que había estado enfermo durante treinta y ocho años. 6 Cuando Jesús lo vio tendido y supo que ya había pasado tanto tiempo así, le preguntó:
—¿Quieres ser sano?
7 Le respondió el enfermo:
—Señor, no tengo a nadie que me meta en el estanque cuando el agua es agitada; y mientras me muevo yo, otro desciende antes que yo.
8 Jesús le dijo:
—Levántate, toma tu cama y anda.
9 Y en seguida el hombre fue sanado, tomó su cama y anduvo. Y aquel día era sábado.
10 Entonces los judíos le decían a aquel que había sido sanado:
—Es sábado y no te es lícito llevar tu cama.
11 Pero él les respondió:
—El que me sanó, él mismo me dijo: “Toma tu cama y anda”.
12 Entonces le preguntaron:
—¿Quién es el hombre que te dijo: “Toma tu cama y anda”?
13 Pero el que había sido sanado no sabía quién había sido, porque Jesús se había apartado pues había mucha gente en el lugar. 14 Después Jesús lo halló en el templo y le dijo:
—He aquí, has sido sanado; no peques más para que no te ocurra algo peor.
15 El hombre se fue y declaró a los judíos que Jesús era el que lo había sanado. 16 Por esta causa los judíos perseguían a Jesús, porque hacía estas cosas en sábado. 17 Pero Jesús les respondió:
—Mi Padre hasta ahora trabaja; también yo trabajo.
18 Por esta razón los judíos aún más procuraban matarle, porque no solo quebrantaba el sábado sino que también llamaba a Dios su propio Padre, haciéndose igual a Dios.
Jesús habla de su autoridad
19 Por esto respondió Jesús y les decía:
—De cierto, de cierto les digo que el Hijo no puede hacer nada de sí mismo sino lo que ve hacer al Padre. Porque todo lo que él hace, esto también lo hace el Hijo de igual manera. 20 Porque el Padre ama al Hijo y le muestra todas las cosas que él mismo hace. Y mayores obras que estas le mostrará, de modo que ustedes se asombrarán. 21 Porque así como el Padre resucita a los muertos y les da vida, así también el Hijo da vida a los que quiere. 22 Porque el Padre no juzga a nadie sino que todo el juicio lo dio al Hijo 23 para que todos honren al Hijo como honran al Padre. El que no honra al Hijo, no honra al Padre que lo envió.
24 »De cierto, de cierto les digo que el que oye mi palabra y cree al que me envió tiene vida eterna. El tal no viene a condenación sino que ha pasado de muerte a vida. 25 De cierto, de cierto les digo que viene la hora, y ahora es, cuando los muertos oirán la voz del Hijo de Dios, y los que oyen vivirán. 26 Porque así como el Padre tiene vida en sí mismo, así también dio al Hijo el tener vida en sí mismo. 27 Y también le dio autoridad para hacer juicio, porque él es el Hijo del Hombre. 28 No se asombren de esto, porque vendrá la hora cuando todos los que están en los sepulcros oirán su voz 29 y saldrán, los que hicieron el bien para la resurrección de vida pero los que practicaron el mal para la resurrección de condenación. 30 Yo no puedo hacer nada de mí mismo. Como oigo, juzgo; y mi juicio es justo porque no busco la voluntad mía sino la voluntad del que me envió.
Testimonio acerca de Jesús
31 »Si yo doy testimonio de mí mismo, mi testimonio no es verdadero. 32 El que da testimonio de mí es otro, y sé que el testimonio que da de mí es verdadero. 33 Ustedes enviaron mensajeros a Juan, y él ha dado testimonio de la verdad. 34 Pero yo no recibo el testimonio de parte del hombre; más bien, digo esto para que ustedes sean salvos. 35 Él era antorcha que ardía y alumbraba, y ustedes quisieron regocijarse por un poco en su luz.
36 »Pero yo tengo un testimonio mayor que el de Juan; porque las obras que el Padre me ha dado para cumplirlas, las mismas obras que hago dan testimonio de mí de que el Padre me ha enviado.
37 »Y el Padre que me envió ha dado testimonio de mí. Pero nunca han oído su voz ni han visto su apariencia 38 ni tienen su palabra permaneciendo en ustedes; porque ustedes no creen a quien él envió. 39 Escudriñen las Escrituras, porque les parece que en ellas tienen vida eterna y ellas son las que dan testimonio de mí. 40 Y ustedes no quieren venir a mí para que tengan vida.
41 »No recibo gloria de parte de los hombres. 42 Al contrario, yo los conozco que no tienen el amor de Dios en ustedes. 43 Yo he venido en nombre de mi Padre, y no me reciben. Si otro viniera en su propio nombre, a aquel recibirían. 44 ¿Cómo pueden ustedes creer? Pues recibiendo la gloria los unos de los otros no buscan la gloria que viene de parte del único Dios.
45 »No piensen que yo los acusaré delante del Padre. Hay quien los acusa: Moisés, en quien han puesto la esperanza. 46 Porque si ustedes creyeran a Moisés, me creerían a mí; pues él escribió de mí. 47 Pero si no creen a sus escritos, ¿cómo creerán a mis palabras?
