治好病了三十八年的人
5 這些事以後，到了猶太人的一個節期，耶穌就上耶路撒冷去。 2 在耶路撒冷靠近羊門有一個水池，希伯來話叫作畢士大，池邊有五條走廊。 3 在那裡躺著許多病人，有瞎眼的、瘸腿的和癱瘓的。（有些抄本有以下一段：“他們等候水動，4因為有主的使者按時下去攪動池水，水動之後，誰先下去，無論甚麼病，必得痊愈。”） 5 那裡有一個人，病了三十八年。 6 耶穌看見他躺著，知道他病了很久，就問他：“你要痊愈嗎？” 7 病人回答：“先生，水動的時候，沒有人把我放在池裡；自己想去的時候，總是給別人搶先。” 8 耶穌對他說：“起來，拿著你的褥子走吧。” 9 那人立刻痊愈，就拿起褥子走了。
那天正是安息日。 10 因此猶太人對那醫好了的人說：“今天是安息日，你拿著褥子是不可以的。” 11 他卻回答：“那使我痊愈的對我說：‘拿起你的褥子走吧’。” 12 他們就問：“那對你說‘拿起來走吧’的是誰？” 13 那醫好了的人不知道他是誰，因為那裡人很多，耶穌已經避開了。 14 後來，耶穌在殿裡遇見那人，對他說：“你已經痊愈了，不可再犯罪，免得招來更大的禍患。” 15 那人就去告訴猶太人，使他痊愈的就是耶穌。 16 從此猶太人就迫害耶穌，因為他常常在安息日作這些事。 17 耶穌卻對他們說：“我父作工直到現在，我也作工。” 18 因此猶太人就更想殺耶穌，因為他不但破壞安息日，而且稱 神為自己的父，把自己與 神當作平等。
人子的權柄
19 耶穌又對他們說：“我實實在在告訴你們，子靠著自己不能作甚麼，只能作他看見父所作的；因為父所作的事，子也照樣作。 20 父愛子，把自己所作的一切指示給他看，還要把比這些更大的事指示給他看，使你們驚奇。 21 父怎樣叫死人復活，使他們得生命，子也照樣隨自己的意思使人得生命。 22 父不審判人，卻已經把審判的權柄完全交給子， 23 使所有的人尊敬子好像尊敬父一樣。不尊敬子的，就是不尊敬那差他來的父。 24 我實實在在告訴你們，那聽見我的話又信那差我來的，就有永生，不被定罪，而是已經出死入生了。 25 我實實在在告訴你們，時候將到，現在就是了，死人要聽見 神兒子的聲音，聽見的人就要活了。 26 就如父是生命的源頭，照樣他也使子成為生命的源頭， 27 並且把執行審判的權柄賜給他，因為他是人子。 28 你們不要把這事看作希奇，因為時候將到，那時所有在墳墓裡的都要聽見他的聲音， 29 並且都要出來；行善的復活得生命，作惡的復活被定罪。
給耶穌作見證的
30 “我靠著自己不能作甚麼，我怎樣聽見，就怎樣審判。我的審判是公義的，因為我不尋求自己的意思，只求那差我來者的旨意。 31 我若為自己作證，我的見證就不真。 32 然而另有一位為我作證的，我知道他為我作的見證是真的。 33 你們曾經派人到約翰那裡，他為真理作過見證。 34 我不接受從人而來的見證，但我說這些事，是要你們得救。 35 約翰是一盞點亮的燈，你們情願暫時在他的光中歡樂。 36 但我有比約翰更大的見證，因為父賜給我要我完成的工作，就是我所要作的，證明我是父所差來的。 37 差我來的父親自為我作了見證。他的聲音，你們從沒有聽過；他的容貌，你們從沒有見過； 38 他的道，你們也不放在心裡，因為你們不信他所差來的那一位。 39 你們研究聖經，因為你們認為聖經中有永生，其實為我作證的就是這聖經， 40 然而你們卻不肯到我這裡來得生命。
41 “我不接受從人而來的稱讚； 42 我知道你們心裡沒有 神的愛。 43 我奉我父的名而來，你們不接待我；如果有別人以自己的名義而來，你們倒接待他。 44 你們彼此接受稱讚，卻不尋求從獨一的 神而來的稱讚，怎麼能信呢？ 45 不要以為我要向父控告你們，有一位控告你們的，就是你們所仰賴的摩西。 46 你們若信摩西，也必信我，因為他所寫的書曾論及我。 47 你們若不信他所寫的，怎能信我的話呢？”

5 그 후 유대인의 명절이 되어 예수님은 예루살렘으로 올라가셨다.
2 예루살렘 양문 곁에는 히브리 말로 베데스다라는 못이 있고 그 둘레에는 행각 다섯 채가 서 있었다.
3 이 행각에는 많은 환자, 소경, 절뚝발이, 손발이 마비된 사람들이 즐비하게 누워 [a](물이 움직이는 때를 기다리고 있었다.
4 그 못에는 가끔 천사가 내려와 물을 휘저어 놓곤 하는데 물을 휘저어 놓은 다음에 제일 먼저 들어가는 사람은 무슨 병이든지 다 나았다.)
5 그런데 거기에 38년 동안 앓고 있는 환자가 있었다.
6 예수님은 그가 누워 있는 것을 보시자 병이 벌써 오래 된 줄 아시고 그에게 “네가 낫고 싶으냐?” 하고 물으셨다.
7 그러자 그 환자는 “선생님, 물이 움직일 때 나를 못에 넣어 주는 사람이 없어 내가 가는 동안에 다른 사람이 먼저 들어갑니다” 하고 대답하였다.
8 그때 예수님이 “일어나 네 자리를 들고 걸어가거라” 하시자
9 그는 곧 병이 나아 자리를 거둬 들고 걸어갔다. 그런데 그 날은 안식일이었다.
10 그래서 유대인들은 병이 나은 그 사람에게 “안식일인데 당신이 자리를 들고 가는 것은 옳지 못한 일이오” 하였다.
11 그가 “나를 고쳐 주신 분이 자리를 들고 걸어가라고 하시던데요” 하자
12 “도대체 그런 말을 한 사람이 누구요?” 하고 그들이 물었다.
13 그러나 그 사람은 자기를 고쳐 주신 분이 누군지 알지 못하였다. 왜냐하면 그 곳에는 많은 사람이 있었고 예수님도 이미 자리를 뜨셨기 때문이었다.
14 그 후에 예수님은 성전에서 그 사람을 만나 “이제는 병이 깨끗이 나았으니 더 무서운 병에 걸리지 않도록 다시는 죄를 짓지 말아라” 하고 말씀하셨다.
15 그 사람이 유대인들에게 가서 자기를 낫게 하신 분이 예수님이라고 말하자
16 유대인들은 안식일에 이런 일을 한다고 예수님을 핍박하기 시작했다.
17 그러나 예수님은 그들에게 “내 아버지께서 지금까지 일하시므로 나도 일한다” 하고 말씀하셨다.
18 유대인들은 예수님이 안식일을 범할 뿐만 아니라 자신을 하나님과 똑같은 자리에 올려놓고 하나님을 친아버지라고 부른다는 이유로 더욱 예수님을 죽이려고 하였다.
19 그래서 예수님은 유대인들에게 이렇게 말씀하셨다. “내가 분명히 너희에게 말한다. 아들은 아버지가 하시는 일을 보지 않으면 혼자서는 아무것도 할 수 없다. 이것은 아버지께서 무엇을 하시든지 아들은 그대로 따라 하기 때문이다.
20 아버지께서는 아들을 사랑하셔서 자기가 하시는 모든 일을 아들에게 다 보여 주신다. 그렇다. 아버지는 이보다 더 큰 일도 아들에게 보여 주셔서 너희를 깜짝 놀라게 하실 것이다.
21 아버지께서 죽은 사람들을 일으켜 살리시는 것처럼 아들도 자기가 원하는 사람들을 살린다.
22 아버지께서는 아무도 심판하시지 않고 심판하는 일을 모두 아들에게 맡겨
23 모든 사람이 아버지를 공경하듯이 아들도 공경하도록 하셨다. 아들을 공경하지 않는 사람은 아들을 보내신 아버지도 공경하지 않는다.
24 내가 분명히 너희에게 말한다. 내 말을 듣고 나를 보내신 분을 믿는 사람은 영원한 생명을 얻었으므로 심판을 받지 않을 것이다. 그는 이미 죽음에서 생명으로 옮겨 간 것이다.
25 내가 분명히 말한다. 죽은 사람들이 하나님의 아들의 음성을 들을 때가 오는데 바로 이때이다. 듣는 사람은 살아날 것이다.
26 아버지께서는 자기 속에 생명을 가지신 것처럼 아들에게도 생명을 주어 그 속에 갖게 하셨다.
27 그리고 아버지는 아들이 [b]그리스도이기 때문에 그에게 심판하는 권세를 주셨다.
28 내가 하는 말에 놀라지 말아라. 죽은 사람들이 모두 아들의 음성을 듣고
29 무덤에서 나올 때가 온다. 선한 일을 한 사람은 부활하여 영원한 생명을 얻고 악한 일을 한 사람은 부활하여 심판을 받게 될 것이다.
30 “나는 아무것도 내 마음대로 할 수 없다. 나는 듣는 그대로 심판한다. 그래서 내 심판은 공정하다. 이것은 내가 원하는 대로 하려는 것이 아니라 나를 보내신 분이 원하는 대로 하려고 하기 때문이다.
31 내가 만일 내 자신에 대해서 증거한다면 그것은 참된 증거가 될 수 없다.
32 그러나 나를 증거해 주시는 분이 따로 계신다. 나는 그분의 증거가 참된 것으로 안다.
33 너희가 요한에게 사람을 보냈을 때 그는 [c]진리에 대하여 증거하였다.
34 하지만 나는 사람의 증거를 받지 않는다. 내가 이 말을 하는 것은 너희가 구원을 얻도록 하기 위해서이다.
35 요한은 타면서 빛을 내는 등불이었다. 그래서 너희는 그 빛 가운데서 잠시 기뻐하려고 하였다.
36 그러나 내게는 요한의 증거보다 더 큰 증거가 있다. 아버지께서 완성하라고 나에게 맡기신 일, 곧 지금 내가 하고 있는 바로 그 일이 아버지께서 나를 보내셨다는 것을 증거하고 있다.
37 그리고 나를 보내신 아버지께서도 직접 나를 증거하셨다. 너희는 그분의 음성을 들은 적도 없고 그분의 모습을 본 적도 없으며
38 또 그분의 말씀을 마음속에 간직하지도 못한다. 이것은 그분이 보내신 자를 너희가 믿지 않기 때문이다.
39 너희는 성경에서 영원한 생명을 얻는 줄로 생각하고 성경을 부지런히 연구하고 있는데 바로 이 성경이 나를 증거하고 있다.
40 그런데도 너희는 나에게 와서 영원한 생명을 얻으려고 하지 않는구나.
41 “나는 사람에게서 영광을 받지 않는다.
42 그러나 나는 너희에게 하나님을 사랑하는 마음이 없다는 것을 잘 알고 있다.
43 내가 내 아버지의 이름으로 왔어도 너희는 나를 맞아들이지 않았다. 그러나 만일 다른 사람이 자기 이름으로 오면 너희가 그를 기꺼이 맞아들일 것이다.
44 너희가 사람에게서는 서로 [d]칭찬을 받으려고 하면서도 한 분밖에 계시지 않는 하나님에게는 칭찬을 받으려고 하지 않으니 어떻게 나를 믿을 수 있겠느냐?
45 내가 너희를 아버지께 고소할 것이라고 생각하지 말아라. 오히려 너희를 고소할 사람은 너희가 희망을 걸고 있는 모세이다.
46 너희가 정말 모세를 믿었다면 나도 믿었을 것이다. 이것은 모세가 나에 관해서 기록했기 때문이다.
47 그러나 너희가 모세의 글도 믿지 않으면서 어떻게 내 말을 믿겠느냐?”

Jesus Heals on the Sabbath
5 After this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 Now there is in Jerusalem by the Sheep Gate a pool, in Hebrew called Beth-za′tha,[a] which has five porticoes. 3 In these lay a multitude of invalids, blind, lame, paralyzed.[b] 5 One man was there, who had been ill for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him and knew that he had been lying there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” 7 The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is troubled, and while I am going another steps down before me.” 8 Jesus said to him, “Rise, take up your pallet, and walk.” 9 And at once the man was healed, and he took up his pallet and walked.
Now that day was the sabbath. 10 So the Jews said to the man who was cured, “It is the sabbath, it is not lawful for you to carry your pallet.” 11 But he answered them, “The man who healed me said to me, ‘Take up your pallet, and walk.’” 12 They asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, ‘Take up your pallet, and walk’?” 13 Now the man who had been healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, as there was a crowd in the place. 14 Afterward, Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you are well! Sin no more, that nothing worse befall you.” 15 The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had healed him. 16 And this was why the Jews persecuted Jesus, because he did this on the sabbath. 17 But Jesus answered them, “My Father is working still, and I am working.” 18 This was why the Jews sought all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the sabbath but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God.
The Authority of the Son
19 Jesus said to them, “Truly, truly, I say to you, the Son can do nothing of his own accord, but only what he sees the Father doing; for whatever he does, that the Son does likewise. 20 For the Father loves the Son, and shows him all that he himself is doing; and greater works than these will he show him, that you may marvel. 21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, so also the Son gives life to whom he will. 22 The Father judges no one, but has given all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who does not honor the Son does not honor the Father who sent him. 24 Truly, truly, I say to you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me, has eternal life; he does not come into judgment, but has passed from death to life.
25 “Truly, truly, I say to you, the hour is coming, and now is, when the dead will hear the voice of the Son of God, and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in himself, so he has granted the Son also to have life in himself, 27 and has given him authority to execute judgment, because he is the Son of man. 28 Do not marvel at this; for the hour is coming when all who are in the tombs will hear his voice 29 and come forth, those who have done good, to the resurrection of life, and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment.
Witnesses to Jesus
30 “I can do nothing on my own authority; as I hear, I judge; and my judgment is just, because I seek not my own will but the will of him who sent me. 31 If I bear witness to myself, my testimony is not true; 32 there is another who bears witness to me, and I know that the testimony which he bears to me is true. 33 You sent to John, and he has borne witness to the truth. 34 Not that the testimony which I receive is from man; but I say this that you may be saved. 35 He was a burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light. 36 But the testimony which I have is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father has granted me to accomplish, these very works which I am doing, bear me witness that the Father has sent me. 37 And the Father who sent me has himself borne witness to me. His voice you have never heard, his form you have never seen; 38 and you do not have his word abiding in you, for you do not believe him whom he has sent. 39 You search the scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and it is they that bear witness to me; 40 yet you refuse to come to me that you may have life. 41 I do not receive glory from men. 42 But I know that you have not the love of God within you. 43 I have come in my Father’s name, and you do not receive me; if another comes in his own name, him you will receive. 44 How can you believe, who receive glory from one another and do not seek the glory that comes from the only God? 45 Do not think that I shall accuse you to the Father; it is Moses who accuses you, on whom you set your hope. 46 If you believed Moses, you would believe me, for he wrote of me. 47 But if you do not believe his writings, how will you believe my words?”
