5 這些事以後，到了猶太人的一個節期，耶穌就上耶路撒冷去。 2 在耶路撒冷靠近羊門有一個水池，希伯來話叫作畢士大，池邊有五條走廊。 3 在那裡躺著許多病人，有瞎眼的、瘸腿的和癱瘓的。（有些抄本有以下一段：“他們等候水動，4因為有主的使者按時下去攪動池水，水動之後，誰先下去，無論甚麼病，必得痊愈。”） 5 那裡有一個人，病了三十八年。 6 耶穌看見他躺著，知道他病了很久，就問他：“你要痊愈嗎？” 7 病人回答：“先生，水動的時候，沒有人把我放在池裡；自己想去的時候，總是給別人搶先。” 8 耶穌對他說：“起來，拿著你的褥子走吧。” 9 那人立刻痊愈，就拿起褥子走了。
那天正是安息日。 10 因此猶太人對那醫好了的人說：“今天是安息日，你拿著褥子是不可以的。” 11 他卻回答：“那使我痊愈的對我說：‘拿起你的褥子走吧’。” 12 他們就問：“那對你說‘拿起來走吧’的是誰？” 13 那醫好了的人不知道他是誰，因為那裡人很多，耶穌已經避開了。 14 後來，耶穌在殿裡遇見那人，對他說：“你已經痊愈了，不可再犯罪，免得招來更大的禍患。” 15 那人就去告訴猶太人，使他痊愈的就是耶穌。 16 從此猶太人就迫害耶穌，因為他常常在安息日作這些事。 17 耶穌卻對他們說：“我父作工直到現在，我也作工。” 18 因此猶太人就更想殺耶穌，因為他不但破壞安息日，而且稱 神為自己的父，把自己與 神當作平等。
人子的權柄
19 耶穌又對他們說：“我實實在在告訴你們，子靠著自己不能作甚麼，只能作他看見父所作的；因為父所作的事，子也照樣作。 20 父愛子，把自己所作的一切指示給他看，還要把比這些更大的事指示給他看，使你們驚奇。 21 父怎樣叫死人復活，使他們得生命，子也照樣隨自己的意思使人得生命。 22 父不審判人，卻已經把審判的權柄完全交給子， 23 使所有的人尊敬子好像尊敬父一樣。不尊敬子的，就是不尊敬那差他來的父。 24 我實實在在告訴你們，那聽見我的話又信那差我來的，就有永生，不被定罪，而是已經出死入生了。 25 我實實在在告訴你們，時候將到，現在就是了，死人要聽見 神兒子的聲音，聽見的人就要活了。 26 就如父是生命的源頭，照樣他也使子成為生命的源頭， 27 並且把執行審判的權柄賜給他，因為他是人子。 28 你們不要把這事看作希奇，因為時候將到，那時所有在墳墓裡的都要聽見他的聲音， 29 並且都要出來；行善的復活得生命，作惡的復活被定罪。

30 “我靠著自己不能作甚麼，我怎樣聽見，就怎樣審判。我的審判是公義的，因為我不尋求自己的意思，只求那差我來者的旨意。 31 我若為自己作證，我的見證就不真。 32 然而另有一位為我作證的，我知道他為我作的見證是真的。 33 你們曾經派人到約翰那裡，他為真理作過見證。 34 我不接受從人而來的見證，但我說這些事，是要你們得救。 35 約翰是一盞點亮的燈，你們情願暫時在他的光中歡樂。 36 但我有比約翰更大的見證，因為父賜給我要我完成的工作，就是我所要作的，證明我是父所差來的。 37 差我來的父親自為我作了見證。他的聲音，你們從沒有聽過；他的容貌，你們從沒有見過； 38 他的道，你們也不放在心裡，因為你們不信他所差來的那一位。 39 你們研究聖經，因為你們認為聖經中有永生，其實為我作證的就是這聖經， 40 然而你們卻不肯到我這裡來得生命。
41 “我不接受從人而來的稱讚； 42 我知道你們心裡沒有 神的愛。 43 我奉我父的名而來，你們不接待我；如果有別人以自己的名義而來，你們倒接待他。 44 你們彼此接受稱讚，卻不尋求從獨一的 神而來的稱讚，怎麼能信呢？ 45 不要以為我要向父控告你們，有一位控告你們的，就是你們所仰賴的摩西。 46 你們若信摩西，也必信我，因為他所寫的書曾論及我。 47 你們若不信他所寫的，怎能信我的話呢？”

38 வருட நோயாளி குணமடைதல்
5 பிறகு, இயேசு எருசலேமுக்கு யூதர்களின் ஒரு பண்டிகையின்போது சென்றார். 2 அங்கே ஐந்து மண்டபங்கள் உள்ள ஒரு குளம் இருந்தது. யூதமொழியில் இதற்கு பெதஸ்தா[a] என்று பெயர். இந்தக் குளம் ஆட்டுவாசல் அருகே இருந்தது. 3 குளத்தின் அருகில் உள்ள மண்டபத்தில் நோயாளிகள் பலர் படுத்துக்கிடந்தனர்.[b] 4 அவர்களில் சிலர் குருடர்கள்; சிலர் சப்பாணிகள்; சிலர் சூம்பிப்போன உறுப்புகளை உடையவர்கள். 5 அவர்களில் ஒருவன் முப்பத்தெட்டு ஆண்டுகளாக நோய்வாய்ப்பட்டிருந்தான். 6 இயேசு அந்த நோயாளி அங்கு படுத்துக்கிடப்பதைக் கண்டார். அவன் நீண்ட காலமாக நோயாளியாக இருப்பதை அவர் அறிந்தார். ஆகையால் அவர் அவனிடம், “நீ குணமடைய விரும்புகிறாயா?” என்று கேட்டார்.
7 “ஐயா, தண்ணீர் கலங்கும்போது நான் போய் நீரில் இறங்குவதற்கு எனக்கு உதவி செய்ய யாருமில்லை. முதல் மனிதனாகப் போய் மூழ்குவதற்கு முயல்வேன். ஆனால் எனக்கு முன்னால் எவனாவது ஒருவன் முதல் மனிதனாகப் போய் மூழ்கிவிடுகிறான்” என்று அந்த நோயாளி பதில் சொன்னான்.
8 பிறகு இயேசு “எழுந்து நில். உனது படுக்கையை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு நட” என்றார். 9 உடனே அந்த நோயாளி குணமடைந்தான். அவன் தனது படுக்கையை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு நடக்க ஆரம்பித்தான்.
இது நிகழ்ந்த அந்த நாளோ ஓய்வு நாள். 10 ஆகையால் யூதர்கள், “இன்று ஓய்வு நாள். நீ படுக்கையை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போவது சரியல்ல” என்று அவனிடம் கூறினர்.
11 ஆனால் அந்த மனிதன், “ஒரு மனிதர் என்னைக் குணமாக்கினார். எனது படுக்கையை எடுத்துக்கொண்டு போகும்படிக் கூறினார்” என்றான்.
12 “உன்னை குணமாக்கிப் படுக்கையை எடுத்துக் கொண்டு போகும்படி சொன்ன அவன் யார்?” என்று யூதர்கள் கேட்டனர்.
13 ஆனால் அந்த மனிதனுக்கு தன்னைக் குணமாக்கியவர் யார் என்று தெரியவில்லை. அங்கே ஏராளமான மக்கள் இருந்தனர். இயேசுவும் அவ்விடம் விட்டு மறைந்து போயிருந்தார்.
14 பிறகு இயேசு அவனை ஆலயத்தில் கண்டுபிடித்தார். இயேசு அவனிடம், “பார், இப்பொழுது நீ குணமாகிவிட்டாய். உனக்குக் கேடுவராதபடி மேலும் பாவம் செய்யாமல் இருப்பாயாக” என்று கூறினார்.
15 பிறகு அந்த மனிதன் யூதர்களிடம் திரும்பிப் போனான். அவன் யூதர்களிடம், “இயேசுதான் என்னைக் குணமாக்கியவர்” என்று சொன்னான்.
16 இயேசு இவ்வாறு ஓய்வு நாளில் நோயைக் குணப்படுத்தியதால் யூதர்கள் இயேசுவைக் குற்றம்சாட்டத் தொடங்கினர். 17 ஆனால் இயேசுவோ யூதர்களிடம், “எனது பிதா (தேவன்) வேலை செய்வதை நிறுத்துவதே இல்லை. நானும் வேலை செய்துகொண்டிருக்கிறேன்” என்றார்.
18 இதைக் கேட்ட யூதர்கள் இயேசுவைக் கொன்றுவிடக் கடுமையாக முயற்சி செய்தார்கள். அவர்கள், “முதலில் இயேசு ஓய்வு நாளின் சட்டத்தை உடைத்துவிட்டார். பிறகு அவர் தேவனை அவரது பிதா என்று கூறுகிறார். அவர் தன்னை தேவனுக்குச் சமமாகக் கூறி வருகிறார்” என்று விளக்கம் கூறினர்.
தேவ அதிகாரம் பெற்ற இயேசு
19 ஆனால் இயேசுவோ, “உங்களுக்கு உண்மையாகவே கூறுகிறேன், இந்தக் குமாரன் தனியாக எதுவும் செய்வதில்லை. இவர் தன் பிதாவிடம் எதைப் பார்க்கிறாரோ அவற்றையே செய்து வருகிறார். 20 பிதா குமாரனை நேசிக்கிறார். அவர் தான் செய்பவற்றையெல்லாம் தனது குமாரனுக்குக் காட்டி வருகிறார். இந்த மனிதன் குணமானான். இதைவிட மேலான காரியங்களைப் பிதாவானவர் தனது குமாரன் மூலம் செய்வார். பின்பு நீங்கள் எல்லோரும் ஆச்சரியப்படுவீர்கள். 21 பிதாவானவர் இறந்தவர்களை உயிரோடு எழுப்புகிறார். இதைப்போலவே அவரது குமாரனும் தமது விருப்பத்தின்படி இறந்துபோனவர்களை உயிரோடு எழச் செய்வார்.
22 “அத்துடன் பிதாவானவர் யாருக்கும் தீர்ப்பளிப்பதில்லை. ஆனால் அவர் இத்தகைய தீர்ப்பளிக்கும் அதிகாரத்தை தன் மகனிடம் ஒப்படைத்திருக்கிறார். 23 தேவன் இதைச் செய்தார். எனவே அனைத்து மக்களும் பிதாவுக்குச் செய்கிற மரியாதையைக் குமாரனுக்கும் செய்ய வேண்டும். ஒருவன் குமாரனுக்கு மரியாதை செய்யாவிட்டால் அவன் பிதாவையும் அவமரியாதை செய்தவனாகிறான். பிதாவே தன் குமாரனை நம்மிடம் அனுப்பியிருக்கிறார்.
24 “நான் உங்களுக்கு உண்மையாகவே கூறுகிறேன், நான் சொல்கிறதை எவன் கேட்டு என்னை அனுப்பினவரை நம்புகிறானோ அவனுக்கு நித்தியமான வாழ்வு உண்டு. அவன் தீர்ப்புக்கு உட்படமாட்டான். அவன் ஏற்கெனவே மரணத்தை விட்டு நீங்கி ஜீவனைப் பெற்றவனாகிறான். 25 உங்களுக்கு ஓர் உண்மையைக் கூறுகிறேன். முக்கியமான வேளை வரும். அவ்வேளை ஏற்கெனவே இங்கே இருக்கிறது. பாவத்தில் இறந்தவர்கள் தேவகுமாரனுடைய சத்தத்தைக் கேட்கும் காலம் வரும். குமாரனிடமிருந்து கேட்பவற்றை நம்புகிறவர்கள் நித்திய ஜீவனைப் பெறுகின்றார்கள். 26 பிதாவிடமிருந்தே (தேவனிடமிருந்தே) ஜீவன் வருகின்றது. ஆகையால் அவர் தன் குமாரனுக்கும் ஜீவனையளிக்கும் அதிகாரத்தைக் கொடுத்திருக்கிறார். 27 அத்துடன் அவர் குமாரனுக்கு, அனைத்து மக்களுக்கும் தீர்ப்பளிக்கிற அதிகாரத்தையும் கொடுத்திருக்கிறார். ஏனென்றால் அந்தக் குமாரனே மனித குமாரனாக இருக்கிறார்.
28 “இதுபற்றி நீங்கள் ஆச்சரியப்பட வேண்டாம். செத்துப்போய் கல்லறையில் இருக்கிறவர்கள் அவரது சத்தத்தைக் கேட்கும் காலம் வரும். 29 அப்போது அவர்கள் கல்லறையை விட்டு வெளியே வருவார்கள். தங்கள் வாழ்வில் நன்மையைச் செய்தவர்கள், எழுந்து நித்திய ஜீவனைப் பெறுவார்கள். தீமை செய்தவர்கள் எழுந்து தண்டனையைப் பெறுவார்கள்.
30 “நான் தனியாக எதுவும் செய்வதில்லை. நான் எனக்குச் சொல்லியிருக்கிறபடியே தீர்ப்பளிக்கிறேன். எனவே எனது தீர்ப்பு நீதியானதே. ஏனென்றால் நான் எனக்குப் பிடித்தமானதைச் செய்வதில்லை; என்னை அனுப்பினவருக்குப் பிடித்தமானதையே செய்கிறேன்.
யூதர்களிடம் இயேசு பேசுதல்
31 “நானே என்னைப்பற்றிச் சொல்லி வந்தால், மக்கள் அதை ஏற்றுக்கொள்ளமாட்டார்கள். 32 ஆனால் என்னைக்குறித்து மக்களிடம் சொல்லுகிற வேறொருவர் இருக்கிறார். அவர் என்னைக் குறித்துச் சொல்வது உண்மையென்று எனக்கும் தெரியும்.
33 “நீங்கள் யோவானிடம் சிலரை அனுப்பியிருந்தீர்கள். அவன் உங்களுக்கு உண்மையைப்பற்றிச் சொன்னான். 34 மக்களுக்கு என்னைப்பற்றி ஒருவன் சாட்சி சொல்லி விளக்க வேண்டும் என்ற தேவை எனக்கில்லை. ஆனால் நீங்கள் இரட்சிக்கப்படும்படியாக இவற்றை நான் உங்களுக்குக் கூறுகிறேன். 35 யோவான் எரிந்து ஒளியைக் கொடுக்கிற ஒரு விளக்கைப்போன்றிருந்தான். நீங்கள் அவனது ஒளியைப் பெற்று சில காலம் மகிழ்ச்சி அடைந்தீர்கள்.

41 “நான் மனிதர்களிடமிருந்து பாராட்டைப் பெற விரும்பவில்லை. 42 ஆனால் நான் உங்களை அறிவேன். தேவனுடைய அன்பு உங்களில் இல்லை என்பதையும் அறிவேன். 43 நான் என் பிதாவிடமிருந்து வந்திருக்கிறேன். நான் அவருக்காகப் பேசுகிறேன். ஆனால் என்னை நீங்கள் ஒப்புக்கொள்ள மறுக்கிறீர்கள். வேறொருவன் வந்து அவன் தனக்காகவே பேசினால் அவனை ஏற்றுக்கொள்கிறீர்கள். 44 நீங்கள் உங்களில் ஒருவரை ஒருவர் பாராட்டுவதில் விருப்பம்கொள்கிறீர்கள். நீங்கள் தேவனுடைய பாராட்டைப் பெற முயற்சி செய்வதில்லை. ஆகையால் நீங்கள் எவ்வாறு நம்பிக்கை வைக்க முடியும்? 45 நான் பிதாவின் முன்னால் நின்று உங்களைக் குற்றம் சொல்வேன் என்று நினைக்கவேண்டாம். மோசேதான் உங்கள் குறைகளைச் சொல்கிறவன். மோசே மட்டுமே உங்களைக் காப்பாற்ற முடியும் என்று நீங்கள் நம்புகிறீர்கள். 46 நீங்கள் உண்மையிலேயே மோசேயை நம்பினீர்களானால் என்னிலும் நம்பிக்கை வைத்திருப்பீர்கள். ஏனென்றால் மோசே என்னைப்பற்றித்தான் எழுதியிருக்கிறான். 47 ஆனால் நீங்கள் மோசே எழுதினவைகளை நம்பமாட்டீர்கள். ஆகையால் நான் சொல்வதையும் உங்களால் நம்பமுடியாது” என்று கூறினார்.

5 After these things, there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 2 Now in Jerusalem by the sheep gate, there is a pool, which is called in Hebrew, “Bethesda”, having five porches. 3 In these lay a great multitude of those who were sick, blind, lame, or paralyzed, waiting for the moving of the water; 4 for an angel went down at certain times into the pool and stirred up the water. Whoever stepped in first after the stirring of the water was healed of whatever disease he had.[a] 5 A certain man was there who had been sick for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he had been sick for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to be made well?”
7 The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, but while I’m coming, another steps down before me.”
8 Jesus said to him, “Arise, take up your mat, and walk.”
9 Immediately, the man was made well, and took up his mat and walked.
Now that day was a Sabbath. 10 So the Jews said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath. It is not lawful for you to carry the mat.”
11 He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your mat and walk.’ ”
12 Then they asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, ‘Take up your mat and walk’?”
13 But he who was healed didn’t know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a crowd being in the place.
14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, “Behold, you are made well. Sin no more, so that nothing worse happens to you.”
15 The man went away, and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well. 16 For this cause the Jews persecuted Jesus and sought to kill him, because he did these things on the Sabbath. 17 But Jesus answered them, “My Father is still working, so I am working, too.”
18 For this cause therefore the Jews sought all the more to kill him, because he not only broke the Sabbath, but also called God his own Father, making himself equal with God. 19 Jesus therefore answered them, “Most certainly, I tell you, the Son can do nothing of himself, but what he sees the Father doing. For whatever things he does, these the Son also does likewise. 20 For the Father has affection for the Son, and shows him all things that he himself does. He will show him greater works than these, that you may marvel. 21 For as the Father raises the dead and gives them life, even so the Son also gives life to whom he desires. 22 For the Father judges no one, but he has given all judgment to the Son, 23 that all may honor the Son, even as they honor the Father. He who doesn’t honor the Son doesn’t honor the Father who sent him.
24 “Most certainly I tell you, he who hears my word and believes him who sent me has eternal life, and doesn’t come into judgment, but has passed out of death into life. 25 Most certainly I tell you, the hour comes, and now is, when the dead will hear the Son of God’s voice; and those who hear will live. 26 For as the Father has life in himself, even so he gave to the Son also to have life in himself. 27 He also gave him authority to execute judgment, because he is a son of man. 28 Don’t marvel at this, for the hour comes in which all who are in the tombs will hear his voice 29 and will come out; those who have done good, to the resurrection of life; and those who have done evil, to the resurrection of judgment. 30 I can of myself do nothing. As I hear, I judge; and my judgment is righteous, because I don’t seek my own will, but the will of my Father who sent me.
31 “If I testify about myself, my witness is not valid. 32 It is another who testifies about me. I know that the testimony which he testifies about me is true. 33 You have sent to John, and he has testified to the truth. 34 But the testimony which I receive is not from man. However, I say these things that you may be saved. 35 He was the burning and shining lamp, and you were willing to rejoice for a while in his light. 36 But the testimony which I have is greater than that of John; for the works which the Father gave me to accomplish, the very works that I do, testify about me, that the Father has sent me. 37 The Father himself, who sent me, has testified about me. You have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his form. 38 You don’t have his word living in you, because you don’t believe him whom he sent.
39 “You search the Scriptures, because you think that in them you have eternal life; and these are they which testify about me. 40 Yet you will not come to me, that you may have life. 41 I don’t receive glory from men. 42 But I know you, that you don’t have God’s love in yourselves. 43 I have come in my Father’s name, and you don’t receive me. If another comes in his own name, you will receive him. 44 How can you believe, who receive glory from one another, and you don’t seek the glory that comes from the only God?
45 “Don’t think that I will accuse you to the Father. There is one who accuses you, even Moses, on whom you have set your hope. 46 For if you believed Moses, you would believe me; for he wrote about me. 47 But if you don’t believe his writings, how will you believe my words?”

5 And a certain man was there, which had an infirmity thirty and eight years.
6 When Jesus saw him lie, and knew that he had been now a long time in that case, he saith unto him, Wilt thou be made whole?
7 The impotent man answered him, Sir, I have no man, when the water is troubled, to put me into the pool: but while I am coming, another steppeth down before me.
8 Jesus saith unto him, Rise, take up thy bed, and walk.
9 And immediately the man was made whole, and took up his bed, and walked: and on the same day was the sabbath.
10 The Jews therefore said unto him that was cured, It is the sabbath day: it is not lawful for thee to carry thy bed.
11 He answered them, He that made me whole, the same said unto me, Take up thy bed, and walk.
12 Then asked they him, What man is that which said unto thee, Take up thy bed, and walk?
13 And he that was healed wist not who it was: for Jesus had conveyed himself away, a multitude being in that place.
14 Afterward Jesus findeth him in the temple, and said unto him, Behold, thou art made whole: sin no more, lest a worse thing come unto thee.
15 The man departed, and told the Jews that it was Jesus, which had made him whole.
16 And therefore did the Jews persecute Jesus, and sought to slay him, because he had done these things on the sabbath day.
17 But Jesus answered them, My Father worketh hitherto, and I work.
18 Therefore the Jews sought the more to kill him, because he not only had broken the sabbath, but said also that God was his Father, making himself equal with God.
19 Then answered Jesus and said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, The Son can do nothing of himself, but what he seeth the Father do: for what things soever he doeth, these also doeth the Son likewise.
20 For the Father loveth the Son, and sheweth him all things that himself doeth: and he will shew him greater works than these, that ye may marvel.
21 For as the Father raiseth up the dead, and quickeneth them; even so the Son quickeneth whom he will.
22 For the Father judgeth no man, but hath committed all judgment unto the Son:
23 That all men should honour the Son, even as they honour the Father. He that honoureth not the Son honoureth not the Father which hath sent him.
24 Verily, verily, I say unto you, He that heareth my word, and believeth on him that sent me, hath everlasting life, and shall not come into condemnation; but is passed from death unto life.
25 Verily, verily, I say unto you, The hour is coming, and now is, when the dead shall hear the voice of the Son of God: and they that hear shall live.
26 For as the Father hath life in himself; so hath he given to the Son to have life in himself;
27 And hath given him authority to execute judgment also, because he is the Son of man.
28 Marvel not at this: for the hour is coming, in the which all that are in the graves shall hear his voice,
29 And shall come forth; they that have done good, unto the resurrection of life; and they that have done evil, unto the resurrection of damnation.
30 I can of mine own self do nothing: as I hear, I judge: and my judgment is just; because I seek not mine own will, but the will of the Father which hath sent me.
31 If I bear witness of myself, my witness is not true.
32 There is another that beareth witness of me; and I know that the witness which he witnesseth of me is true.
33 Ye sent unto John, and he bare witness unto the truth.
34 But I receive not testimony from man: but these things I say, that ye might be saved.
35 He was a burning and a shining light: and ye were willing for a season to rejoice in his light.
36 But I have greater witness than that of John: for the works which the Father hath given me to finish, the same works that I do, bear witness of me, that the Father hath sent me.
37 And the Father himself, which hath sent me, hath borne witness of me. Ye have neither heard his voice at any time, nor seen his shape.
38 And ye have not his word abiding in you: for whom he hath sent, him ye believe not.
39 Search the scriptures; for in them ye think ye have eternal life: and they are they which testify of me.
40 And ye will not come to me, that ye might have life.
41 I receive not honour from men.
42 But I know you, that ye have not the love of God in you.
43 I am come in my Father's name, and ye receive me not: if another shall come in his own name, him ye will receive.
44 How can ye believe, which receive honour one of another, and seek not the honour that cometh from God only?
45 Do not think that I will accuse you to the Father: there is one that accuseth you, even Moses, in whom ye trust.
46 For had ye believed Moses, ye would have believed me; for he wrote of me.
47 But if ye believe not his writings, how shall ye believe my words?
