4 主知道法利賽人聽見他收門徒和施洗比約翰更多（ 2 其實不是耶穌親自施洗，而是他的門徒施洗）， 3 就離開了猶太，再往加利利去。 4 他必須經過撒瑪利亞。 5 於是到了撒瑪利亞的一座城，名叫敘加；這城靠近雅各給他兒子約瑟的那塊地。 6 在那裡有雅各井。耶穌因為旅途疲倦了，就坐在井旁；那時大約正午。
7 有一個撒瑪利亞婦人來打水。耶穌對她說：“請給我水喝。” 8 那時，他的門徒都進城買食物去了。 9 撒瑪利亞婦人對耶穌說：“你是猶太人，怎麼向我，一個撒瑪利亞婦人要水喝呢？”（原來猶太人和撒瑪利亞人不相往來。） 10 耶穌回答她：“你若知道 神的恩賜，和對你說‘請給我水喝’的是誰，你必早已求他，他也必早把活水賜給你了。” 11 婦人說：“先生，你沒有打水的器具，井又深，你從哪裡得活水呢？ 12 我們的祖先雅各把這口井留給我們，他自己和子孫以及牲畜都喝這井的水，難道你比他還大嗎？” 13 耶穌回答：“凡喝這水的，還要再渴； 14 人若喝我所賜的水，就永遠不渴。我所賜的水要在他裡面成為湧流的泉源，直湧到永生。” 15 婦人說：“先生，請把這水賜給我，使我不渴，也不用來這裡打水。”
必須用心靈按真理敬拜 神
16 耶穌說：“你去，叫你的丈夫，然後回到這裡來。” 17 婦人對他說：“我沒有丈夫。”耶穌說：“你說‘沒有丈夫’是不錯的。 18 你以前有五個丈夫，現在有的並不是你的丈夫；你說這話是真的。” 19 婦人說：“先生，我看出你是先知。 20 我們的祖先在這山上敬拜 神，而你們卻說，敬拜的地方必須在耶路撒冷。” 21 耶穌說：“婦人，你應當信我，時候將到，那時你們敬拜父，不在這山上，也不在耶路撒冷。 22 你們敬拜你們所不知道的，我們卻敬拜我們所知道的，因為救恩是從猶太人出來的。 23 然而時候將到，現在就是了，那用心靈按真理敬拜父的，才是真正敬拜的人；因為父在尋找這樣敬拜他的人。 24 神是靈，敬拜他的必須藉著靈按真理敬拜他。” 25 婦人說：“我知道那稱為基督的彌賽亞要來；他來了，要把一切都告訴我們。” 26 耶穌說：“我這現在跟你說話的就是他。”
27 正在這時候，門徒回來了，見耶穌和一個婦人說話，就很希奇；但是沒有人問：“你要甚麼？”或說：“你為甚麼跟她說話？” 28 那婦人撇下了她的水罐，進到城裡去，對眾人說： 29 “你們來，看看一個人，他把我所作的一切都說出來，難道這人就是基督嗎？” 30 眾人就出城，往耶穌那裡去。
莊稼已經熟了
31 當時，門徒對耶穌說：“拉比，請吃。” 32 耶穌說：“我有食物吃，是你們所不知道的。” 33 門徒就彼此說：“難道有人拿東西給他吃了嗎？” 34 耶穌說：“我的食物就是遵行差我來者的旨意，並且完成他的工作。 35 你們不是說‘還有四個月才到收穫的時候’嗎？我告訴你們，舉目向田觀看，莊稼已經熟了，可以收割了。 36 收割的人得到工資，也積儲五穀直到永生，使撒種的和收割的一同快樂。 37 ‘這人撒種，那人收割’，這話是真的。 38 我派你們去收割你們所沒有勞苦的；別人勞苦，你們卻享受他們勞苦的成果。”
39 因著那婦人作見證的話：“他把我所作的一切都說出來了”，那城裡就有許多撒瑪利亞人信了耶穌。 40 於是他們來到耶穌那裡，求他和他們同住，耶穌就在那裡住了兩天。 41 因著耶穌的話，信他的人就更多了。 42 他們就對那婦人說：“現在我們信，不再是因為你的話，而是因為我們親自聽見了，知道這位真是世人的救主。”
治好大臣的兒子
43 兩天之後，耶穌離開那裡，往加利利去。 44 耶穌自己說過：“先知在本鄉是不受尊敬的。” 45 耶穌到了加利利的時候，加利利人都歡迎他，因為他們曾經上耶路撒冷去過節，見過他所行的一切。
46 耶穌又到了加利利的迦拿，就是他變水為酒的地方。有一個大臣，他的兒子在迦百農患病。 47 他聽見耶穌從猶太到了加利利，就來見他，求他下去醫治他的兒子，因為他的兒子快要死了。 48 耶穌對他說：“你們若看不見神蹟奇事，總是不肯信。” 49 大臣說：“先生，求你趁我的孩子還沒有死就下去吧！” 50 耶穌告訴他：“回去吧，你的兒子好了。”那人信耶穌對他說的話，就回去了。 51 正下去的時候，他的僕人迎著他走來，說他的孩子好了。 52 他就向僕人查問孩子是甚麼時候好轉的。他們告訴他：“昨天下午一點鐘，熱就退了。” 53 這父親就知道，那正是耶穌告訴他“你的兒子好了”的時候，他自己和全家就信了。 54 這是耶穌從猶太回到加利利以後所行的第二件神蹟。

4 1-3 耶穌得知法利賽人聽見祂收門徒、為人施洗比約翰還多，便離開猶太回加利利。其實不是耶穌親自施洗，而是祂的門徒施洗。 4 祂回加利利的路上必須經過撒瑪利亞。 5 於是，祂來到撒瑪利亞的一座城，名叫敘加，靠近雅各留給他兒子約瑟的那塊地。 6 雅各井就在那個地方。耶穌走路疲乏，坐在井旁休息。那時是中午時分， 7-8 門徒都進城買食物去了。有一個撒瑪利亞的婦人來打水，耶穌說：「請你給我一點水吧。」
9 撒瑪利亞婦人說：「你是個猶太人，怎麼向我這撒瑪利亞婦人要水喝？」原來猶太人和撒瑪利亞人互不往來。

15 婦人說：「先生，請你把這種水賜給我，我就不會再渴了，也用不著來打水了。」
16 耶穌說：「去叫你的丈夫來。」
17 婦人說：「我沒有丈夫。」耶穌說：「你說的對，你沒有丈夫， 18 因為你已經有過五個丈夫了，現在和你同居的也不是你的丈夫。你說的是實話。」
19 婦人說：「先生，你一定是先知。 20 我們的祖先一向都是在這山上敬拜上帝，你們卻說耶路撒冷才是敬拜的地方。」
21 耶穌回答說：「婦人，你當信我。時候快到了，你們將不在這山上，也不在耶路撒冷敬拜父。 22 你們不知道你們敬拜的是誰，我們知道我們敬拜的是誰，因為救恩是從猶太人出來的。 23 時候快到了，其實就是現在，真正敬拜父的，要用心靈按真理敬拜祂，因為父尋找的正是這樣敬拜祂的人。 24 上帝是靈，所以必須用心靈按真理敬拜祂。」
25 婦人說：「據我所知，那被稱為基督的彌賽亞要來。祂來了，會把一切都告訴我們。」
26 耶穌說：「我這跟你說話的人就是祂。」
27 這時，門徒回來了，看見耶穌和一個婦人談話，感到驚奇，可是沒有人問：「你想要什麼？」或問：「你為什麼和她說話？」
28 那婦人撇下水罐，回到城裡，對人們說： 29 「你們快來看啊！有一個人把我過去的事全部說了出來。莫非祂就是基督？」 30 眾人聽了就到城外去看耶穌。
撒種與收割
31 其間，門徒對耶穌說：「老師，請吃點東西吧。」
32 耶穌說：「我有食物吃，是你們不知道的。」
33 門徒彼此議論說：「難道有人給祂吃的了？」
34 耶穌說：「我的食物就是遵行差我來者的旨意，完成祂的工作。 35 你們不是說還有四個月才到收割的時候嗎？舉目向田觀看吧，莊稼已經熟了，可以收割了。 36 收割的人不但可以得到報酬，而且可以為永生收穫果實，叫撒種的和收割的一同快樂。 37 俗語說得好，『那人撒種，這人收割。』 38 我派你們去收割那些你們沒有勞作的莊稼，別人勞苦，你們享受他們勞苦的成果。」
39 那城裡有許多撒瑪利亞人信了耶穌，因為那婦人做見證說：「祂將我以前做的一切事情都說了出來。」 40 撒瑪利亞人來見耶穌，懇求祂留下來，祂就在那裡住了兩天。 41 因為耶穌傳的道，信的人更多了。 42 他們對那婦人說：「現在我們信，不再是因為你的話，而是我們親耳聽見了，知道祂真的是救世主。」
耶穌治好大臣的兒子
43 兩天後，耶穌動身前往加利利。 44 祂以前說過：「先知在他本鄉不受人尊敬。」 45 然而，祂回到加利利卻受到當地的人歡迎，因為他們上耶路撒冷過節時，看見了祂所做的一切。
46 祂又到了加利利的迦拿，就是祂從前把水變成酒的地方。有一個大臣的兒子在迦百農患了病。 47 大臣聽說耶穌從猶太來到加利利，立刻趕來見祂，求祂去醫治他病危的兒子。
48 耶穌對他說：「你們不看見神蹟奇事，總不相信。」

51 他途中遇見奴僕來報信說他兒子好了， 52 就問什麼時候好的。僕人說：「昨天下午一點鐘，燒就退了。」
53 他想起正是那時候耶穌對他說：「你的兒子好了！」他和全家都信了。
54 這是耶穌從猶太回到加利利後所行的第二個神蹟。

5 耶稣来到撒玛利亚的一座叫叙加的城镇，它靠近雅各给他儿子约瑟的那片土地。 6 雅各井就在这里。大约中午时分，耶稣走累了，便坐在井边。 7 一位撒玛利亚 [a]女子来到井边打水，耶稣说∶“给我点水喝吧。” 8 （门徒们都到城里买吃的去了。）
9 那女子对他说∶“你是犹太人，我是撒玛利亚人，你怎么向我要水喝？”（因为犹太人不和撒玛利亚人来往。 [b]）
10 耶稣回答说∶“假如你知道上帝的恩赐是什么，知道向你要水喝的人是谁，你早就会求他了，那么他早就会给你活水了。”
11 女子说∶“先生，你连打水的器具都没有，井又那么深，你到哪儿去打活水呢？你比我们的祖先雅各更伟大吗？ 12 他给了我们这口井，他本人、他的孩子和牲畜都喝过这口井的水。”
13 耶稣答道∶“喝这个井里水的人，还会口渴的， 14 但是，喝了我的水的人，就永远不会再渴了。而且，我给他的水，在他的身体里，将变成泉源，汩汩地涌出来，给人以永生。”
15 女子对耶稣说∶“先生，请给我一些那种水吧，让我永远不再渴，也不用再来这儿打水了。”
16 耶稣说∶“去把你丈夫叫来。”
17 女子对耶稣说∶“我没有丈夫。”
耶稣说∶“你说得不错，你是没有丈夫。 18 你有过五个丈夫，而你现在的那个男人并不是你的丈夫。你说的是实话。”
19 女子说∶“先生，我看出您是先知！ 20 我们祖先在这座山上崇拜，你们犹太人却说，耶路撒冷才应该是人们崇拜的地方。”
21 耶稣说∶“女人，相信我！你们既不在这山上，也不在耶路撒冷崇拜父的时候，那时刻就要来临了。 22 你们撒玛利亚人崇拜什么，你们并不知道，我们犹太人却知道我们崇拜的是什么，因为拯救来自犹太人。 23 不过，真正崇拜父的时刻就要到来，并且已经到来，真正崇拜父的人以心灵和真诚崇拜他，这些人才是父所希望的那种崇拜者。 24 上帝是灵，崇拜他的人要用心灵和真诚崇拜他。”
25 女子对他说∶“我知道弥赛亚就要来临，就是被称为基督的那位。他到来后，会向我们说明一切的。”
26 耶稣对她说∶“正在对你说话的便是他。”
27 此时，耶稣的门徒回来了，他们看到他正和一个女子说话，都很惊讶，不过谁也没问“您想从她那里要什么”或是“您为什么和她说话？”
28 那女子放下水罐回城去了。她对人们说： 29 “你们来看呀，有人把我所做过的一切，都说出来了，他有可能是基督吗？” 30 城里的人们倾城而出，到耶稣这里来了。
31 同时，门徒们正督促他∶“拉比（老师），您吃点东西吧。”
32 耶稣对他们说∶“我有食物吃，你们对我吃的食物一无所知。”
33 门徒们互相询问∶“难道有人给他送过吃的东西了吗？”
34 耶稣说∶“我的食物就是执行派我来的那位的旨意，并完成他交给我的任务。 35 你们在播种的时候，常说∶‘再有四个月就收庄稼了。’好吧，我告诉你们，睁开眼睛，朝地里看看吧，庄稼已经成熟，该收割了。 36 即便是现在，收获的人得到报酬，他在为永生收获庄稼。所以，现在播种的人和收获的人一同快乐。 37 俗话说∶‘一人播种，另一个人收获。’此话不假。 38 我派你们去收获，你们是不劳而获，别人辛劳一场，而你们却坐享其成。”
39 许多来自那个城镇的撒玛利亚人都信了耶稣，因为那女子作证∶“我以往所做过的一切，都被他说中了。” 40 因此，撒玛利亚人来到耶稣那里，都请求他住下，耶稣就在那里住了两天， 41 因为耶稣所说的话，相信他的人就更多了。
42 他们对那女子说∶“我们刚开始信仰耶稣，是因为你告诉我们的事。但是，我们现在信，是因为我们亲耳听到了他的话，知道这个人的确是救世主。”
耶稣治愈官员的儿子
43 两天后，耶稣离开那里，返回加利利。 44 因为耶稣说过，先知在自己的故乡受不到尊敬。 45 耶稣来到加利利时，加利利人接受了他，因为在耶路撒冷过逾越节时，他们看到了他所做的一切。（因为加利利人也去过节了。）
46 耶稣又去了加利利的迦拿，他以前在那里把水变成了酒。迦百农有一个国王的大臣，他的儿子病了。 47 当他听说耶稣从犹太来到加利利时，便去见他，求耶稣去给儿子治病，因为，他的儿子快要死了。 48 耶稣对他说∶“你们不看到神迹和奇迹就不会相信。”
49 大臣说∶“先生，请您在我孩子没死之前，去一趟吧。”
50 耶稣说∶“回去吧，你的儿子会活的。”
那人相信了耶稣的话，走了。 51 当他还在回家的路上时，碰到了仆人，仆人告诉他孩子活过来了。
52 他问他们孩子是什么时候开始好转的，他们说∶“昨天下午一点钟退烧的。”
53 孩子的父亲意识到，那正是耶稣对他说∶“你的儿子会活的。”时刻。他和全家人都信仰了耶稣。
54 这是耶稣从犹太回到加利利后行的第二个奇迹。

4 ¶ When therefore the Lord knew how the Pharisees had heard that Jesus made and baptized more disciples than John
2 (though Jesus himself baptized not, but his disciples),
3 he left Judaea and departed again into Galilee.
4 ¶ And it was necessary that he go through Samaria.
5 Then he came to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 Now Jacob’s well was there. Jesus, therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well; and it was about the sixth hour.
7 There came a woman of Samaria to draw water; Jesus said unto her, Give me to drink.
8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy food.)
9 Then said the Samaritan woman unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, who am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink, thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 The woman said unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep; from where then hast thou that living water?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well and drank thereof himself, and his sons and his cattle?
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinks of this water shall thirst again,
14 but whosoever drinks of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst, but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a fountain of water springing up into eternal life.
15 The woman said unto him, Lord, give me this water, that I not thirst, neither come here to draw.
16 Jesus said unto her, Go, call thy husband and come here.
17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband;
18 for thou hast had five husbands, and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband; this hast thou said with truth.
19 The woman said unto him, Lord, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain, and ye say that in Jerusalem is the place where it is necessary to worship.
21 Jesus said unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour comes when neither in this mountain nor in Jerusalem shall ye worship the Father.
22 Ye worship what ye know not; we worship what we know, for saving health is of the Jews.
23 But the hour comes, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth, for the Father seeks such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit and those that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
25 The woman said unto him, I know that the Messiah is to come, who is called the Christ; when he is come, he will declare unto us all things.
26 Jesus said unto her, I AM that speak unto thee.
27 ¶ And upon this came his disciples and marvelled that he talked with that woman; yet no one said, What askest thou? or, What talkest thou with her?
28 The woman then left her waterpot and went into the city and said to those men,
29 Come, see a man who told me all that I have done; is perchance this the Christ?
30 Then they went out of the city and came unto him.
31 In the meanwhile his disciples entreated him, saying, Rabbi, eat.
32 But he said unto them, I have a food to eat that ye know not of.
33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Has anyone brought him anything to eat?
34 Jesus said unto them, My food is to do the will of him that sent me and to finish his work.
35 Do ye not say, There are yet four months and then comes harvest? Behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes and look on the fields, for they are white already to harvest.
36 And he that reaps receives wages and gathers fruit unto eternal life, that both he that sows and he that reaps may rejoice together.
37 And herein is that saying true, One sows and another reaps.
38 I have sent you to reap that upon which ye bestowed no labour; others laboured, and ye have entered into their labours.
39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed in him by the word of the woman, who testified, He told me all that I have done.
40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they asked him to abide with them; and he abode there two days.
41 And many more believed by his own word
42 and said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy speech; for we have heard him ourselves and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
43 ¶ Now after two days he departed from that place and went into Galilee.
44 For Jesus himself testified that a prophet has no honour in his own country.
45 Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he had done in Jerusalem at the feast, for they had also gone to the feast.
46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he had made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him and besought him that he would come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death.
48 Then Jesus said unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
49 The nobleman said unto him, Sir, come down before my child dies.
50 Jesus said unto him, Go; thy son lives. And the man believed the word that Jesus spoke unto him, and he went.
51 And as he was now going down, his slaves met him and told him, saying, Thy son lives.
52 Then he enquired of them the hour when he began to get better. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said unto him, Thy son lives; and he believed, and his whole house.
54 This again is the second sign that Jesus did when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.
