治好大臣的儿子
43 两天之后，耶稣离开那里，往加利利去。 44 耶稣自己说过：“先知在本乡是不受尊敬的。” 45 耶稣到了加利利的时候，加利利人都欢迎他，因为他们曾经上耶路撒冷去过节，见过他所行的一切。
46 耶稣又到了加利利的迦拿，就是他变水为酒的地方。有一个大臣，他的儿子在迦百农患病。 47 他听见耶稣从犹太到了加利利，就来见他，求他下去医治他的儿子，因为他的儿子快要死了。 48 耶稣对他说：“你们若看不见神迹奇事，总是不肯信。” 49 大臣说：“先生，求你趁我的孩子还没有死就下去吧！” 50 耶稣告诉他：“回去吧，你的儿子好了。”那人信耶稣对他说的话，就回去了。 51 正下去的时候，他的仆人迎着他走来，说他的孩子好了。 52 他就向仆人查问孩子是甚么时候好转的。他们告诉他：“昨天下午一点钟，热就退了。” 53 这父亲就知道，那正是耶稣告诉他“你的儿子好了”的时候，他自己和全家就信了。 54 这是耶稣从犹太回到加利利以后所行的第二件神迹。
治好病了三十八年的人
5 这些事以后，到了犹太人的一个节期，耶稣就上耶路撒冷去。 2 在耶路撒冷靠近羊门有一个水池，希伯来话叫作毕士大，池边有五条走廊。 3 在那里躺着许多病人，有瞎眼的、瘸腿的和瘫痪的。（有些抄本有以下一段：“他们等候水动，4因为有主的使者按时下去搅动池水，水动之后，谁先下去，无论甚么病，必得痊愈。”） 5 那里有一个人，病了三十八年。 6 耶稣看见他躺着，知道他病了很久，就问他：“你要痊愈吗？” 7 病人回答：“先生，水动的时候，没有人把我放在池里；自己想去的时候，总是给别人抢先。” 8 耶稣对他说：“起来，拿着你的褥子走吧。” 9 那人立刻痊愈，就拿起褥子走了。
那天正是安息日。 10 因此犹太人对那医好了的人说：“今天是安息日，你拿着褥子是不可以的。” 11 他却回答：“那使我痊愈的对我说：‘拿起你的褥子走吧’。” 12 他们就问：“那对你说‘拿起来走吧’的是谁？” 13 那医好了的人不知道他是谁，因为那里人很多，耶稣已经避开了。 14 后来，耶稣在殿里遇见那人，对他说：“你已经痊愈了，不可再犯罪，免得招来更大的祸患。” 15 那人就去告诉犹太人，使他痊愈的就是耶稣。

43 After (A)the two days he departed for Galilee. 44 (For Jesus himself had testified (B)that a prophet has no honor in his own hometown.) 45 So when he came to Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him, (C)having seen all that he had done in Jerusalem at the feast. For (D)they too had gone to the feast.
Jesus Heals an Official's Son
46 So he came again to (E)Cana in Galilee, (F)where he had made the water wine. And at Capernaum there was an official whose son was ill. 47 When this man heard that Jesus (G)had come from Judea to Galilee, he went to him and asked him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. 48 So Jesus said to him, (H)“Unless you[a] see signs and wonders you will not believe.” 49 The official said to him, “Sir, come down (I)before my child dies.” 50 Jesus said to him, “Go; your son will live.” The man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him and went on his way. 51 As he was going down, his servants[b] met him and told him that his son was recovering. 52 So he asked them the hour when he began to get better, and they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour[c] the fever left him.” 53 The father knew that was the hour when Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” And he himself believed, (J)and all his household. 54 (K)This was now the second sign that Jesus did when he had come from Judea to Galilee.
The Healing at the Pool on the Sabbath
5 After this there was a (L)feast of the Jews, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
2 Now there is in Jerusalem by (M)the Sheep Gate a pool, in Aramaic[d] called Bethesda,[e] which has five roofed colonnades. 3 In these lay a multitude of invalids—blind, lame, and (N)paralyzed.[f] 5 One man was there who had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there and knew that he had already been there a long time, he said to him, “Do you want to be healed?” 7 The sick man answered him, “Sir, I have no one to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up, and while I am going another steps down before me.” 8 Jesus said to him, (O)“Get up, take up your bed, and walk.” 9 (P)And at once the man was healed, and he took up his bed and walked.
(Q)Now that day was the Sabbath. 10 So the Jews[g] said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath, and (R)it is not lawful for you to take up your bed.” 11 But he answered them, “The man who healed me, that man said to me, ‘Take up your bed, and walk.’” 12 They asked him, “Who is the man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?” 13 Now the man who had been healed did not know who it was, for (S)Jesus had withdrawn, as there was a crowd in the place. 14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple and said to him, “See, you are well! (T)Sin no more, (U)that nothing worse may happen to you.” 15 The man went away and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had healed him.

Jesus Heals an Official’s Son
43 After the two days(A) he left for Galilee. 44 (Now Jesus himself had pointed out that a prophet has no honor in his own country.)(B) 45 When he arrived in Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him. They had seen all that he had done in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival,(C) for they also had been there.
46 Once more he visited Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine.(D) And there was a certain royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum. 47 When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea,(E) he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death.
48 “Unless you people see signs and wonders,”(F) Jesus told him, “you will never believe.”
49 The royal official said, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”
50 “Go,” Jesus replied, “your son will live.”
The man took Jesus at his word and departed. 51 While he was still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy was living. 52 When he inquired as to the time when his son got better, they said to him, “Yesterday, at one in the afternoon, the fever left him.”
53 Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” So he and his whole household(G) believed.
54 This was the second sign(H) Jesus performed after coming from Judea to Galilee.
The Healing at the Pool
5 Some time later, Jesus went up to Jerusalem for one of the Jewish festivals. 2 Now there is in Jerusalem near the Sheep Gate(I) a pool, which in Aramaic(J) is called Bethesda[a] and which is surrounded by five covered colonnades. 3 Here a great number of disabled people used to lie—the blind, the lame, the paralyzed. [4] [b] 5 One who was there had been an invalid for thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there and learned that he had been in this condition for a long time, he asked him, “Do you want to get well?”
7 “Sir,” the invalid replied, “I have no one to help me into the pool when the water is stirred. While I am trying to get in, someone else goes down ahead of me.”
8 Then Jesus said to him, “Get up! Pick up your mat and walk.”(K) 9 At once the man was cured; he picked up his mat and walked.
The day on which this took place was a Sabbath,(L) 10 and so the Jewish leaders(M) said to the man who had been healed, “It is the Sabbath; the law forbids you to carry your mat.”(N)
11 But he replied, “The man who made me well said to me, ‘Pick up your mat and walk.’ ”
12 So they asked him, “Who is this fellow who told you to pick it up and walk?”
13 The man who was healed had no idea who it was, for Jesus had slipped away into the crowd that was there.
14 Later Jesus found him at the temple and said to him, “See, you are well again. Stop sinning(O) or something worse may happen to you.” 15 The man went away and told the Jewish leaders(P) that it was Jesus who had made him well.

A Nobleman’s Son Healed
46 So Jesus came again to Cana of Galilee (D)where He had made the water wine. And there was a certain [a]nobleman whose son was sick at Capernaum. 47 When he heard that Jesus had come out of Judea into Galilee, he went to Him and implored Him to come down and heal his son, for he was at the point of death. 48 Then Jesus said to him, (E)“Unless you people see signs and wonders, you will by no means believe.”
49 The nobleman said to Him, “Sir, come down before my child dies!”
50 Jesus said to him, “Go your way; your son lives.” So the man believed the word that Jesus spoke to him, and he went his way. 51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him and told him, saying, “Your son lives!”
52 Then he inquired of them the hour when he got better. And they said to him, “Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.” 53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour in which Jesus said to him, “Your son lives.” And he himself believed, and his whole household.
54 This again is the second sign Jesus did when He had come out of Judea into Galilee.
A Man Healed at the Pool of Bethesda
5 After (F)this there was a feast of the Jews, and Jesus (G)went up to Jerusalem. 2 Now there is in Jerusalem (H)by the Sheep Gate a pool, which is called in Hebrew, [b]Bethesda, having five porches. 3 In these lay a great multitude of sick people, blind, lame, [c]paralyzed, [d]waiting for the moving of the water. 4 For an angel went down at a certain time into the pool and stirred up the water; then whoever stepped in first, after the stirring of the water, was made well of whatever disease he had. 5 Now a certain man was there who had an infirmity thirty-eight years. 6 When Jesus saw him lying there, and knew that he already had been in that condition a long time, He said to him, “Do you want to be made well?”
7 The sick man answered Him, “Sir, I have no man to put me into the pool when the water is stirred up; but while I am coming, another steps down before me.”
8 Jesus said to him, (I)“Rise, take up your bed and walk.” 9 And immediately the man was made well, took up his bed, and walked.
And (J)that day was the Sabbath. 10 The Jews therefore said to him who was cured, “It is the Sabbath; (K)it is not lawful for you to carry your bed.”
11 He answered them, “He who made me well said to me, ‘Take up your bed and walk.’ ”
12 Then they asked him, “Who is the Man who said to you, ‘Take up your bed and walk’?” 13 But the one who was (L)healed did not know who it was, for Jesus had withdrawn, a multitude being in that place. 14 Afterward Jesus found him in the temple, and said to him, “See, you have been made well. (M)Sin no more, lest a worse thing come upon you.”
15 The man departed and told the Jews that it was Jesus who had made him well.
