And on the third day a marriage took place in Cana of Galilee, and the mother of Jesus was there.

And Jesus also, and his disciples, were invited to the marriage.

And wine being deficient, the mother of Jesus says to him, They have no wine.

Jesus says to her, What have I to do with thee, woman? mine hour has not yet come.

His mother says to the servants, Whatever he may say to you, do.

Now there were standing there six stone water-vessels, according to the purification of the Jews, holding two or three measures each.

Jesus says to them, Fill the water-vessels with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

And he says to them, Draw out now, and carry [it] to the feast-master. And they carried [it].

But when the feast-master had tasted the water which had been made wine (and knew not whence it was, but the servants knew who drew the water), the feast-master calls the bridegroom,

10 and says to him, Every man sets on first the good wine, and when [men] have well drunk, then the inferior; thou hast kept the good wine till now.

11 This beginning of signs did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

12 After this he descended to Capernaum, he and his mother and his brethren and his disciples; and there they abode not many days.

13 And the passover of the Jews was near, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

14 And he found in the temple the sellers of oxen and sheep and doves, and the money-changers sitting;

15 and, having made a scourge of cords, he cast [them] all out of the temple, both the sheep and the oxen; and he poured out the change of the money-changers, and overturned the tables,

16 and said to the sellers of doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house a house of merchandise.

17 [And] his disciples remembered that it is written, The zeal of thy house devours me.

18 The Jews therefore answered and said to him, What sign shewest thou to us, that thou doest these things?

19 Jesus answered and said to them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

20 The Jews therefore said, Forty and six years was this temple building, and thou wilt raise it up in three days?

21 But *he* spoke of the temple of his body.

22 When therefore he was raised from among [the] dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this, and believed the scripture and the word which Jesus had spoken.

23 And when he was in Jerusalem, at the passover, at the feast, many believed on his name, beholding his signs which he wrought.

24 But Jesus himself did not trust himself to them, because he knew all [men],

25 and that he had not need that any should testify of man, for himself knew what was in man.

And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:

And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.

And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.

Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.

His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.

And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.

Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.

And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.

When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,

10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.

11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.

12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.

13 And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.

14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:

15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;

16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.

17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.

18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?

19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.

20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?

21 But he spake of the temple of his body.

22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.

23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.

24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,

25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

Maryaj nan ti vil Kana

Apre de jou, te gen yon maryaj nan ti vil yo rele Kana a, nan teritwa Galile. Manman Jezi te la. Yo te envite Jezi ak disip li yo nan maryaj la tou. Pandan fèt la, diven an vin fin i.

Lè l fin i, li di yo: “Pran tigout nan dlo a pote bay responsab fèt la.”

Yo te fè sa l te di yo fè a. Epi, responsab fèt la goute dlo ki te tounen diven an. Li pa t konnen ki kote li soti, men sèvitè yo ki te pote dlo a te konnen. Apre sa, responsab la rele mesye marye a. 10 Li di l: “Nòmalman tout moun toujou sèvi pi bon diven an anvan. Pita, lè tout envite yo fin sou, yo sèvi diven ki pa twò chè a. Men, ou menm, ou kite bon diven an epi se kounye a ou ap sèvi li.”

14 Li jwenn nan tanp lan yon bann moun ki t ap vann bèf, mouton ak pijon. Li jwenn lòt moun ki te chita bò tab yo ap chanje lajan tou. 15 Jezi fè yon fwèt ak plizyè kòd. Li te chase yo tout nan tanp lan ansanm avèk mouton yo ak bèf yo. Li chavire tab moun ki t ap chanje lajan yo. Li jete tout lajan yo atè. 16 Epi li di moun ki t ap vann pijon yo: “Wete bagay sa yo isit la. Nou pa dwe fè kay Papa m nan tounen yon mache pou moun ap vann epi pou y ap achte.”

17 Disip li yo sonje sa k te ekri sou li nan Bib la:

“Lamou m genyen pou tanp ou a ap boule nan mwen tankou yon dife.”(A)

18 Jwif yo te reponn li konsa: “Fè yon mirak kòm yon siy ki soti nan Bondye. Ban nou prèv ou gen dwa fè bagay sa yo.”

19 Jezi reponn yo: “Detwi tanp sa a, epi m ap rebati l nan twa jou.”

20 Jwif yo reponn li: “tanp sa a pran karannsizan (46) pou yo bati l, epi ou menm, nan twa jou ou ap rebati l!”

21 Men, tanp Jezi t ap pale a, se te pwòp kò li. 22 Lè Jezi resisite, disip yo sonje li te di sa. Yo te kwè nan sa ki te ekri nan Bib la epi nan pawòl Jezi te di yo.

23 Pandan Jezi te lavil Jerizalèm, nan fèt Pak la, anpil moun te kwè nan li, paske yo te wè mirak li t ap fè yo. 24 Men Jezi pa t fè yo konfyans, paske li te konnen ki moun yo ye. 25 Li pa t bezwen pèsonn di l kijan lòm ye. Li menm li te konnen sa ki nan lòm.

  1. 2:6 seremoni pirifikasyon Jwif yo te genyen yon bann prensip nan relijyon yo pou fè seremoni pirifikasyon avèk dlo anvan yo manje, anvan yo adore nan tanp lan ak yon bann lòt okazyon espesyal. Gade tou nan chapit 3:25.

Wedding at Cana

On the third day there was a wedding in Cana of Galilee. Jesus’ mother was there, and Jesus and his disciples were also invited to the celebration. When the wine ran out, Jesus’ mother said to him, “They don’t have any wine.”

Jesus replied, “Woman, what does that have to do with me? My time hasn’t come yet.”

His mother told the servants, “Do whatever he tells you.” Nearby were six stone water jars used for the Jewish cleansing ritual, each able to hold about twenty or thirty gallons.

Jesus said to the servants, “Fill the jars with water,” and they filled them to the brim. Then he told them, “Now draw some from them and take it to the headwaiter,” and they did. The headwaiter tasted the water that had become wine. He didn’t know where it came from, though the servants who had drawn the water knew.

The headwaiter called the groom 10 and said, “Everyone serves the good wine first. They bring out the second-rate wine only when the guests are drinking freely. You kept the good wine until now.” 11 This was the first miraculous sign that Jesus did in Cana of Galilee. He revealed his glory, and his disciples believed in him.

12 After this, Jesus and his mother, his brothers, and his disciples went down to Capernaum and stayed there for a few days.

Jesus in Jerusalem at Passover

13 It was nearly time for the Jewish Passover, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 He found in the temple those who were selling cattle, sheep, and doves, as well as those involved in exchanging currency sitting there. 15 He made a whip from ropes and chased them all out of the temple, including the cattle and the sheep. He scattered the coins and overturned the tables of those who exchanged currency. 16 He said to the dove sellers, “Get these things out of here! Don’t make my Father’s house a place of business.” 17 His disciples remembered that it is written, Passion for your house consumes me.[a]

18 Then the Jewish leaders asked him, “By what authority are you doing these things? What miraculous sign will you show us?”

19 Jesus answered, “Destroy this temple and in three days I’ll raise it up.”

20 The Jewish leaders replied, “It took forty-six years to build this temple, and you will raise it up in three days?” 21 But the temple Jesus was talking about was his body. 22 After he was raised from the dead, his disciples remembered what he had said, and they believed the scripture and the word that Jesus had spoken.

23 While Jesus was in Jerusalem for the Passover Festival, many believed in his name because they saw the miraculous signs that he did. 24 But Jesus didn’t trust himself to them because he knew all people. 25 He didn’t need anyone to tell him about human nature, for he knew what human nature was.
