As bodas em Caná. A água feita vinho
2 E, ao terceiro dia, fizeram-se umas bodas em Caná da Galileia; e estava ali a mãe de Jesus. 2 E foram também convidados Jesus e os seus discípulos para as bodas. 3 E, faltando o vinho, a mãe de Jesus lhe disse: Não têm vinho. 4 Disse-lhe Jesus: Mulher, que tenho eu contigo? Ainda não é chegada a minha hora. 5 Sua mãe disse aos empregados: Fazei tudo quanto ele vos disser. 6 E estavam ali postas seis talhas de pedra, para as purificações dos judeus, e em cada uma cabiam duas ou três metretas. 7 Disse-lhes Jesus: Enchei de água essas talhas. E encheram-nas até em cima. 8 E disse-lhes: Tirai agora e levai ao mestre-sala. E levaram. 9 E, logo que o mestre-sala provou a água feita vinho (não sabendo de onde viera, se bem que o sabiam os empregados que tinham tirado a água), chamou o mestre-sala ao esposo. 10 E disse-lhe: Todo homem põe primeiro o vinho bom e, quando já têm bebido bem, então, o inferior; mas tu guardaste até agora o bom vinho. 11 Jesus principiou assim os seus sinais em Caná da Galileia e manifestou a sua glória, e os seus discípulos creram nele.
12 Depois disso, desceu a Cafarnaum, ele, e sua mãe, e seus irmãos, e seus discípulos, e ficaram ali não muitos dias.
Jesus purifica o templo(A)
13 E estava próxima a Páscoa dos judeus, e Jesus subiu a Jerusalém. 14 E achou no templo os que vendiam bois, e ovelhas, e pombos, e os cambiadores assentados. 15 E, tendo feito um azorrague de cordéis, lançou todos fora do templo, bem como os bois e ovelhas; e espalhou o dinheiro dos cambiadores, e derribou as mesas, 16 e disse aos que vendiam pombos: Tirai daqui estes e não façais da casa de meu Pai casa de vendas. 17 E os seus discípulos lembraram-se do que está escrito: O zelo da tua casa me devorará. 18 Responderam, pois, os judeus e disseram-lhe: Que sinal nos mostras para fazeres isso? 19 Jesus respondeu e disse-lhes: Derribai este templo, e em três dias o levantarei. 20 Disseram, pois, os judeus: Em quarenta e seis anos, foi edificado este templo, e tu o levantarás em três dias? 21 Mas ele falava do templo do seu corpo. 22 Quando, pois, ressuscitou dos mortos, os seus discípulos lembraram-se de que lhes dissera isso; e creram na Escritura e na palavra que Jesus tinha dito.
23 E, estando ele em Jerusalém pela Páscoa, durante a festa, muitos, vendo os sinais que fazia, creram no seu nome. 24 Mas o mesmo Jesus não confiava neles, porque a todos conhecia 25 e não necessitava de que alguém testificasse do homem, porque ele bem sabia o que havia no homem.

O casamento em Caná
2 No terceiro dia, houve um casamento na vila de Caná, na Galileia. A mãe de Jesus estava ali. 2 Jesus e os seus discípulos também foram convidados para o casamento. 3 Quando o vinho se acabou, a mãe de Jesus lhe disse:
—Eles não têm mais vinho.
4 Jesus respondeu:
—Senhora[a], por que me incomoda? O momento determinado para mim ainda não chegou.
5 A sua mãe disse aos que serviam ali:
—Façam tudo o que ele disser. 6 Havia nesse lugar seis jarros de pedra para água. Os judeus usavam jarros como estes para as suas purificações religiosas.[b] Em cada jarro cabiam mais ou menos cem litros.[c] 7 Jesus disse aos que serviam ali:
—Encham estes jarros de água.
E eles encheram os jarros até a boca. 8 Depois disse:
—Agora tirem um pouco de água e levem ao mestre de cerimônias.
E eles levaram a água. 9 Quando o dirigente da festa provou a água, ela tinha se tornado vinho. O dirigente não sabia de onde tinha vindo o vinho (mas aqueles que tinham trazido a água sabiam). E então chamou o noivo 10 e disse:
—É costume servir o melhor vinho primeiro. Depois dos convidados já terem bebido bastante é que se serve o vinho mais barato. Você, porém, guardou o melhor vinho até agora.
11 Assim, em Caná da Galileia, Jesus fez o seu primeiro milagre. Ele mostrou a sua glória, e as pessoas que o seguiam creram nele. 12 Depois disto, Jesus foi para a cidade de Cafarnaum. A mãe de Jesus, os seus irmãos e os seus discípulos foram com ele. Lá ficaram alguns dias.
Jesus no templo
(Mt 21.12-13; Mc 11.15-17; Lc 19.45-46)
13 Mas, como se aproximava a festa da Páscoa dos judeus, Jesus foi para Jerusalém. 14 No templo, ele viu homens vendendo gado, ovelhas e pombas. Também viu outros sentados às mesas trocando dinheiro. 15 Jesus fez um chicote com algumas cordas e expulsou a todos do templo e também as ovelhas e os bois. Virou as mesas e espalhou o dinheiro dos cambistas. 16 Depois disse aos que vendiam pombas:
—Tirem tudo isto daqui! Não façam da casa do meu Pai um lugar de compras e vendas!
17 Quando isto aconteceu, os discípulos se lembraram que estava escrito nas Escrituras Sagradas: “O amor que tenho pela sua casa me queima por dentro”.(A)
18 Os judeus disseram a Jesus:
—Que milagre você vai fazer para provar que tem autoridade para fazer essas coisas? 19 Jesus respondeu:
—Destruam este templo e em três dias eu o construirei de novo.
20 Os judeus responderam:
—Levou quarenta e seis anos para construir este templo! Acredita que pode construí-lo de novo em três dias?
21 (Mas o templo de que Jesus falava era o seu próprio corpo. 22 Depois da ressurreição de Jesus, os seus discípulos se lembraram que ele tinha dito isto e creram nas Escrituras Sagradas e nas palavras de Jesus.)
23 Jesus estava em Jerusalém para a festa da Páscoa. Muitos creram nele porque viram os milagres que ele fez ali. 24 Mas Jesus não confiava neles, pois conhecia todas as pessoas. 25 Ele não precisava de que alguém lhe falasse a respeito delas. Ele mesmo sabia o que estava na mente delas.

2 And the third day there was a marriage in Cana of Galilee; and the mother of Jesus was there:
2 And both Jesus was called, and his disciples, to the marriage.
3 And when they wanted wine, the mother of Jesus saith unto him, They have no wine.
4 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, what have I to do with thee? mine hour is not yet come.
5 His mother saith unto the servants, Whatsoever he saith unto you, do it.
6 And there were set there six waterpots of stone, after the manner of the purifying of the Jews, containing two or three firkins apiece.
7 Jesus saith unto them, Fill the waterpots with water. And they filled them up to the brim.
8 And he saith unto them, Draw out now, and bear unto the governor of the feast. And they bare it.
9 When the ruler of the feast had tasted the water that was made wine, and knew not whence it was: (but the servants which drew the water knew;) the governor of the feast called the bridegroom,
10 And saith unto him, Every man at the beginning doth set forth good wine; and when men have well drunk, then that which is worse: but thou hast kept the good wine until now.
11 This beginning of miracles did Jesus in Cana of Galilee, and manifested forth his glory; and his disciples believed on him.
12 After this he went down to Capernaum, he, and his mother, and his brethren, and his disciples: and they continued there not many days.
13 And the Jews' passover was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem.
14 And found in the temple those that sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the changers of money sitting:
15 And when he had made a scourge of small cords, he drove them all out of the temple, and the sheep, and the oxen; and poured out the changers' money, and overthrew the tables;
16 And said unto them that sold doves, Take these things hence; make not my Father's house an house of merchandise.
17 And his disciples remembered that it was written, The zeal of thine house hath eaten me up.
18 Then answered the Jews and said unto him, What sign shewest thou unto us, seeing that thou doest these things?
19 Jesus answered and said unto them, Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.
20 Then said the Jews, Forty and six years was this temple in building, and wilt thou rear it up in three days?
21 But he spake of the temple of his body.
22 When therefore he was risen from the dead, his disciples remembered that he had said this unto them; and they believed the scripture, and the word which Jesus had said.
23 Now when he was in Jerusalem at the passover, in the feast day, many believed in his name, when they saw the miracles which he did.
24 But Jesus did not commit himself unto them, because he knew all men,
25 And needed not that any should testify of man: for he knew what was in man.

Water Turned to Wine
2 On the third day there was a (A)wedding in (B)Cana of Galilee, and the (C)mother of Jesus was there. 2 Now both Jesus and His disciples were invited to the wedding. 3 And when they ran out of wine, the mother of Jesus said to Him, “They have no wine.”
4 Jesus said to her, (D)“Woman, (E)what does your concern have to do with Me? (F)My hour has not yet come.”
5 His mother said to the servants, “Whatever He says to you, do it.”
6 Now there were set there six waterpots of stone, (G)according to the manner of purification of the Jews, containing twenty or thirty gallons apiece. 7 Jesus said to them, “Fill the waterpots with water.” And they filled them up to the brim. 8 And He said to them, “Draw some out now, and take it to the master of the feast.” And they took it. 9 When the master of the feast had tasted (H)the water that was made wine, and did not know where it came from (but the servants who had drawn the water knew), the master of the feast called the bridegroom. 10 And he said to him, “Every man at the beginning sets out the good wine, and when the guests have well drunk, then the inferior. You have kept the good wine until now!”

Jesus Cleanses the Temple(M)
13 (N)Now the Passover of the Jews was at hand, and Jesus went up to Jerusalem. 14 (O)And He found in the temple those who sold oxen and sheep and doves, and the money changers [b]doing business. 15 When He had made a whip of cords, He drove them all out of the temple, with the sheep and the oxen, and poured out the changers’ money and overturned the tables. 16 And He said to those who sold doves, “Take these things away! Do not make (P)My Father’s house a house of merchandise!” 17 Then His disciples remembered that it was written, (Q)“Zeal for Your house [c]has eaten Me up.”
18 So the Jews answered and said to Him, (R)“What sign do You show to us, since You do these things?”
19 Jesus answered and said to them, (S)“Destroy this temple, and in three days I will raise it up.”
20 Then the Jews said, “It has taken forty-six years to build this temple, and will You raise it up in three days?”
21 But He was speaking (T)of the temple of His body. 22 Therefore, when He had risen from the dead, (U)His disciples remembered that He had said this [d]to them; and they believed the Scripture and the word which Jesus had said.
The Discerner of Hearts
23 Now when He was in Jerusalem at the Passover, during the feast, many believed in His name when they saw the (V)signs which He did. 24 But Jesus did not commit Himself to them, because He (W)knew all men, 25 and had no need that anyone should testify of man, for (X)He knew what was in man.
