19 那時，彼拉多吩咐人把耶穌拉去鞭打。 2 士兵用荊棘編成冠冕，戴在他的頭上，又給他披上紫色的外袍， 3 然後來到他面前，說：“猶太人的王萬歲！”並且用手掌打他。 4 彼拉多再次出到外面，對猶太人說：“看！我把他帶出來給你們，讓你們知道我查不出他有甚麼罪。” 5 於是耶穌出來，戴著荊棘的冠冕，披著紫色的外袍。彼拉多對他們說：“看，這個人！” 6 祭司長和差役看見耶穌，就喊叫說：“把他釘十字架！把他釘十字架！”彼拉多對他們說：“你們自己把他帶去釘十字架吧！我查不出他有甚麼罪。” 7 猶太人回答：“我們有律法，根據那律法，他是該死的，因為他自命為 神的兒子。”

17 他們把耶穌帶去了。耶穌自己背著十字架出來，到了一個名叫“髑髏”的地方，希伯來話叫各各他。 18 他們就在那裡把耶穌釘在十字架上；和他一同釘十字架的，還有兩個人，一邊一個，耶穌在中間。 19 彼拉多寫了一個牌子，放在十字架上頭，寫的是：“猶太人的王拿撒勒人耶穌。” 20 有許多猶太人念了這牌子上所寫的，因為耶穌釘十字架的地方離城不遠，而且那牌子是用希伯來文、拉丁文和希臘文寫的。 21 猶太人的祭司長對彼拉多說：“不要寫‘猶太人的王’，要寫‘這個人自稱：我是猶太人的王’。” 22 彼拉多說：“我所寫的，我已經寫了！”
23 士兵把耶穌釘了十字架之後，就把他的衣服拿來，分成四分，每個兵一分。他們又拿他的內衣；這內衣是沒有縫的，是從上到下整件織成的。 24 因此，他們彼此說：“我們不要把它撕開，我們來抽籤吧，看看是誰的。”這就應驗了經上所說的：
“他們分了我的外衣，
又為我的內衣抽籤。”
士兵果然這樣作了。 25 站在耶穌十字架旁邊的，有他母親和他母親的姊妹，還有高羅巴的妻子馬利亞，和抹大拉的馬利亞。 26 耶穌看見母親，又看見他所愛的那門徒站在旁邊，就對母親說：“母親（“母親”原文作“婦人”），看！你的兒子。” 27 然後他對那門徒說：“看！你的母親。”從那時起，那門徒就把她接到自己的家裡去了。
耶穌死時的情形(B)
28 這事以後，耶穌知道一切都已經成就了，為了要使經上的話應驗，就說：“我渴了。” 29 在那裡有一個罈子，盛滿了酸酒，他們就拿海綿浸了酸酒，綁在牛膝草上，送到他的口裡。 30 耶穌嘗了那酸酒，說：“成了！”就低下頭，斷了氣。
31 因為那天是預備日，為了要避免屍體在安息日留在十字架上（因為那安息日是個重要的日子），猶太人就請求彼拉多打斷那些被釘十字架的人的腿，把他們拿下來。 32 於是士兵來了，把和耶穌一同釘十字架的那兩個人的腿都先後打斷了。 33 他們來到耶穌那裡，看見他已經死了，就沒有打斷他的腿。 34 但是有一個士兵用槍刺他的肋旁，立刻有血和水流出來。 35 那看見這事的人已經作證了，他的見證是真實的，他也知道自己所說的是實在的，使你們也相信。 36 這些事的發生，是要應驗經上所說的：“他的骨頭，一根也不可折斷。” 37 另有一處經文說：“他們要仰望自己所刺的人。”
耶穌葬在新墳墓裡(C)
38 這些事以後，有一個亞利馬太人約瑟來求彼拉多，要領耶穌的身體；他因為怕猶太人，就暗暗地作耶穌的門徒。彼拉多批准了，他便把耶穌的身體領去。 39 從前夜間來見耶穌的尼哥德慕也來了，帶著沒藥和沉香混合的香料，約有三十二公斤。 40 他們領取了耶穌的身體，照著猶太人的葬禮的規例，用細麻布和香料把他裹好。 41 在耶穌釘十字架的地方，有一個園子，園裡有一個新的墓穴，是從來沒有葬過人的。 42 因為那天是猶太人的預備日，又因為那墓穴就在附近，他們就把耶穌葬在那裡。

19 于是，彼拉多命人把耶稣带走，鞭打他。 2 士兵们用荆棘编了一顶皇冠，戴在耶稣头上，他们又给他穿上了紫袍， 3 还在耶稣面前摇来晃去，说∶“我们向您敬礼，犹太王！”他们还不停地打他耳光。
4 彼拉多又出来说道∶“听着，我把他带到你们这儿来，为的是让你们知道，我没有发现他有罪。” 5 然后，耶稣带着荆冠，穿着紫袍出来了，彼拉多说∶“他在这里。”
6 一见到耶稣，祭司长和法利赛人便喊道∶“钉死他，钉死他！”
彼拉多说∶“你们自己去把他带走，钉死在十字架上吧！我是找不出他有什么罪。”
7 犹太人回答说∶“根据我们的律法，他该死，因为他宣称自己是上帝之子！”
8 彼拉多听了这话，更害怕了， 9 他回府里问耶稣∶“你从哪里来？”耶稣没做回答， 10 彼拉多对他说∶“你不肯跟我说话吗？你难道不知道我有权让你自由，我也有权把你钉死在十字架上吗？”
11 耶稣说∶“除非上帝赋予你权力，否则你无权管辖我，所以，把我交给你的人，比你的罪更大。”
12 听了这话，彼拉多很想放了耶稣，可犹太人叫嚷道∶“你要是放了他，你就不是凯撒的朋友。凡是自诩为王的人，就是反对凯撒！”
13 听了这话，彼拉多把耶稣带了出来，坐在“铺华石处”（希伯来语为“厄巴大”）的法官席上。 14 那天是逾越节周的预备日。大约中午时分，彼拉多对犹太人说∶“这是你们的王！”
犹太人喊道： 15 “带走他！带走他！把他钉死在十字架上！”
彼拉多问∶“你们让我把你们的王钉死在十字架上吗？”
祭司长说∶“除了凯撒，我们没有别的王！”
16 于是，彼拉多把耶稣交给士兵去把他钉死在十字架上。
耶稣被钉在十字架上
17 耶稣背着自己的十字架，到了一个叫“骷髅” [a]的地方。 18 他们把耶稣钉上十字架，还把另外两个人钉在耶稣的左右，一边一个，耶稣被钉在中间。 19 彼拉多写了一个牌子，让人放在耶稣的十字架上，上面写着∶“耶稣，拿撒勒人，犹太人之王。” 20 很多犹太人读到了这个告示，因为耶稣被钉的地方，在此城附近，告示是用希伯来语 [b]、拉丁语和希腊语写的。祭司长对彼拉多说∶ 21 “不要写‘犹太王’，而应该写∶‘此人说：我是犹太王。’”
22 彼拉多说∶“我写什么就是什么。”
23 然后，士兵们把耶稣钉在了十字架上。士兵们拿了他的衣服，把它们分成了四份，每人一份。他们还拿了他的内衣，内衣是从头到脚用整幅布做成，没有一条缝。 24 于是，他们商量说∶“咱们不要撕破它，让咱们抓阄吧，看谁能得到它。”这也应验了《经》上的话：
“他们分了我的衣服，
还为我的内衣抓阄。”
这正是这些士兵所做的事情。
25 耶稣的母亲、姨妈、革罗罢的妻子马利亚和马利亚抹大拉站在他的十字架旁边。 26 当耶稣看到母亲和他所钟爱的那个门徒站在旁边时，就对母亲说∶“亲爱的妈妈，这是您的儿子。” 27 他又对他的门徒说∶“这是你母亲。”从那以后，那个门徒就让耶稣的母亲住在他家里了。
耶稣之死
28 这之后，耶稣知道一切都完成了，所以《经》上所说的话可以实现了。耶稣说道∶“我渴了。” 29 旁边正好有一壶酸酒，他们拿了一块海绵蘸满酒，绑在牛膝草上，送到他嘴边。 30 耶稣尝完酒后，说道∶“一切都结束了。”然后，他垂下头，死去了。
31 因为那天是星期五（预备日），所以，尸体不能在安息日里挂在十字架上，（因为安息日是很特别的日子）。犹太人请求彼拉多下令，打断他们的腿，好把尸体移走。 32 于是士兵来了，打断了第一个人的腿，又打断和他一起钉死在十字架上的另一个人的腿。 33 可是，当他们走近耶稣时，看到他已经死了，所以，就没有打断他的腿。
34 但是，一个士兵却用枪矛刺进了耶稣的肋旁，血水立刻涌了出来。 35 （看到这一切的人作了证，他的证词是真实的。他知道自己说的是真话，以便让人们相信他。） 36 这一切的发生，都是为了应验《经》上的话∶“他的骨头一根都不会断。 [c]” 37 《经》上还记载道∶“他们观看那位被刺的人。”
安葬耶稣
38 这之后，亚利马太人约瑟，请求彼拉多允许他移走耶稣的尸体。约瑟是耶稣的门徒之一，因为害怕犹太首领，没有公开。彼拉多同意了，约瑟便去移走了耶稣的尸体。 39 曾在夜里去见耶稣的尼哥底母，带着三十四公斤左右的没药和沉香的混合物也来了。 40 他们抬走尸体，用亚麻布和香料按犹太人的葬礼习俗裹好耶稣。 41 耶稣被钉死的地方有个园子，里面有个新墓，从未埋过任何人。 42 因为星期五是犹太人预备日，墓地又近，他们就把他放在那里了。

Jesus is Sentenced to Death(A)
19 Then Pilate had Jesus taken away and whipped. 2 The soldiers twisted some thorns into a victor’s crown, put it on his head, and threw a purple robe on him. 3 They kept coming up to him and saying, “Long live the king of the Jews!” Then they began to slap him on the face.
4 Pilate went outside again and told the Jews,[a] “Look, I am bringing him out to you to let you know that I find no basis for a charge against him.” 5 Then Jesus came outside, wearing the victor’s crown of thorns and the purple robe.
Pilate told them, “Here is the man!”
6 When the high priests and the officials saw him, they shouted, “Crucify him! Crucify him!”
Pilate told them, “You take him and crucify him. I find no basis for a charge against him.”
7 The Jewish leaders[b] answered Pilate,[c] “We have a law, and according to that Law he must die because he made himself out to be the Son of God.”
8 When Pilate heard this, he became even more afraid. 9 Returning to his headquarters,[d] he asked Jesus, “Where are you from?”
But Jesus did not answer him.
10 So Pilate asked him, “Aren’t you going to speak to me? You realize, don’t you, that I have the authority to release you and the authority to crucify you?”
11 Jesus answered him, “You have no authority over me at all, except what was given to you from above. That’s why the one who handed me over to you is guilty of a greater sin.”
12 From then on, Pilate tried to release him, but the Jewish leaders[e] kept shouting, “If you release this fellow, you’re not a friend of Caesar! Anyone who claims to be a king is defying Caesar!”
13 When Pilate heard these words, he brought Jesus outside and sat down on the judgment seat in a place called The Pavement, which in Hebrew is called Gabbatha. 14 Now it was the Preparation Day for the Passover, about noon.[f] He told the Jewish leaders,[g] “Here is your king!”
15 Then they shouted, “Take him away! Take him away! Crucify him!”
Pilate asked them, “Should I crucify your king?”
The high priests responded, “We have no king but Caesar!” 16 Then Pilate[h] handed him over to be crucified, and they took Jesus away.
Jesus is Crucified(B)
17 Carrying the cross all by himself, he went out to what is called The Place of a Skull, which in Hebrew is called Golgotha. 18 There they crucified him, along with two others, one on each side of him with Jesus in the middle. 19 Pilate wrote an inscription and put it on the cross. It read, “Jesus from Nazareth,[i] the King of the Jews.” 20 Many Jews read this inscription, because the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city. It was written in Hebrew, Latin, and Greek.
21 Then the Jewish high priests told Pilate, “Don’t write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but that this fellow said, ‘I am the King of the Jews.’”
22 Pilate replied, “What I have written I have written.”
23 When the soldiers had crucified Jesus, they took his clothes and divided them into four parts, one for each soldier, and took his cloak[j] as well. The cloak was seamless, woven in one piece from the top down. 24 So they told each other, “Let’s not tear it. Instead, let’s throw dice to see who gets it.” This was to fulfill the Scripture that says,
“They divided my clothes among themselves,
and for my clothing they threw dice.”[k]
So that is what the soldiers did.
25 Meanwhile, standing near Jesus’ cross were his mother, his mother’s sister, Mary the wife of Clopas, and Mary Magdalene.[l] 26 When Jesus saw his mother and the disciple whom he kept loving standing there, he told his mother, “Dear lady,[m] here is your son.” 27 Then he told the disciple, “Here is your mother.” And from that hour the disciple took her into his own home.
Jesus Dies on the Cross(C)
28 After this, when Jesus realized that everything was now completed, he said (in order to fulfill the Scripture), “I’m thirsty.” 29 A jar of sour wine was standing there, so they put a sponge full of the wine on a branch of hyssop and held it to his mouth. 30 After Jesus had taken the wine, he said, “It is finished.” Then he bowed his head and released his spirit.
Jesus’ Side is Pierced
31 Since it was the Preparation Day, the Jewish leaders[n] did not want to leave the bodies on the crosses during the Sabbath, because that was a particularly important Sabbath. So they asked Pilate to have the men’s legs broken and the bodies[o] removed. 32 So the soldiers went and broke the legs of the first man and then of the other man who had been crucified with him. 33 But when they came to Jesus and saw that he was already dead, they did not break his legs. 34 Instead, one of the soldiers pierced his side with a spear, and blood and water immediately came out. 35 The one who saw this has testified, and his testimony is true. He knows he is telling the truth so that you, too, may believe, 36 because these things happened so that the Scripture might be fulfilled:
“None of his bones will be broken.”[p]
37 In addition, another passage of Scripture says,
“They will look on the one whom they pierced.”[q]
Jesus is Buried(D)
38 Later on, Joseph of Arimathea, who was a disciple of Jesus (though a secret one because he was afraid of the Jewish leaders),[r] asked Pilate to let him remove the body of Jesus. Pilate gave him permission, and he came and removed his body. 39 Nicodemus, the man who had first come to Jesus at night, also arrived, bringing a mixture of myrrh and aloes weighing about 100 litra.[s] 40 They took the body of Jesus and wrapped it in linen cloths along with spices, according to the burial custom of the Jews. 41 A garden was located in the place where he was crucified, and in that garden was a new tomb in which no one had yet been placed. 42 Because it was the Jewish Preparation Day, and because the tomb was nearby, they put Jesus there.
