15 西门．彼得和另一个门徒跟着耶稣；那门徒是大祭司认识的。他跟耶稣一起进了大祭司的院子， 16 彼得却站在门外。大祭司所认识的那门徒出来，对看门的婢女说了一声，就带了彼得进去。 17 那看门的婢女对彼得说：“你不也是这个人的门徒吗？”他说：“我不是。” 18 因为天气寒冷，仆人和差役就生了炭火，站着取暖；彼得也和他们站在一起取暖。

19 那时，大祭司查问耶稣有关他的门徒和他的教训的事。 20 耶稣对大祭司说：“我向来对世人讲话都是公开的，我常常在会堂和圣殿里，就是在所有犹太人聚集的地方教导人，暗地里我并没有讲甚么。 21 你为甚么查问我呢？问问那些听过我讲话的人吧，他们知道我讲过甚么。” 22 耶稣说了这些话，站在旁边的一个差役，就打他一巴掌，说：“你竟敢这样回答大祭司吗？” 23 耶稣对他说：“如果我讲错了，你可以指证错在哪里；如果我讲对了，你为甚么打我呢？” 24 亚那仍然绑着耶稣，把他押到大祭司该亚法那里去。

25 西门．彼得仍然站在火旁取暖。有人对他说：“你不也是他的门徒吗？”彼得否认说：“我不是。” 26 有一个大祭司的仆人，就是彼得削掉耳朵的那个人的亲戚，说：“我不是看见你跟他在园子里吗？” 27 彼得又否认，立刻鸡就叫了。

Betrayal and Arrest of Jesus
18 When Jesus had spoken these words, (A)he went out with his disciples across (B)the brook Kidron, where there was a garden, which he and his disciples entered. 2 Now Judas, who betrayed him, also knew (C)the place, for (D)Jesus often met there with his disciples. 3 (E)So Judas, having procured a band of soldiers and some officers from the chief priests and the Pharisees, went there with lanterns and torches and weapons. 4 Then Jesus, (F)knowing all that would happen to him, came forward and said to them, (G)“Whom do you seek?” 5 They answered him, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said to them, “I am he.”[a] Judas, who betrayed him, was standing with them. 6 (H)When Jesus[b] said to them, “I am he,” they drew back and fell to the ground. 7 So he asked them again, (I)“Whom do you seek?” And they said, “Jesus of Nazareth.” 8 Jesus answered, “I told you that I am he. So, if you seek me, let these men go.” 9 (J)This was to fulfill the word that he had spoken: “Of those whom you gave me I have lost not one.” 10 Then Simon Peter, (K)having a sword, drew it and struck the high priest's servant[c] and cut off his right ear. (The servant's name was Malchus.) 11 So Jesus said to Peter, “Put your sword into its sheath; (L)shall I not drink the cup that the Father has given me?”
Jesus Faces Annas and Caiaphas
12 So the band of soldiers and their captain and the officers of the Jews[d] arrested Jesus and bound him. 13 First they (M)led him to (N)Annas, for he was the father-in-law of (O)Caiaphas, who was high priest that year. 14 It was Caiaphas who had advised the Jews (P)that it would be expedient that one man should die for the people.
Peter Denies Jesus
15 (Q)Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple. Since that disciple was known to the high priest, he entered with Jesus into the courtyard of the high priest, 16 (R)but Peter stood outside at the door. So the other disciple, who was known to the high priest, went out and spoke to the servant girl who kept watch at the door, and brought Peter in. 17 (S)The servant girl at the door said to Peter, “You also are not one of this man's disciples, are you?” He said, “I am not.” 18 Now the servants[e] and officers had made a charcoal fire, because it was cold, and they were standing and warming themselves. (T)Peter also was with them, standing and warming himself.
The High Priest Questions Jesus
19 (U)The high priest then questioned Jesus about his disciples and his teaching. 20 Jesus answered him, “I have spoken (V)openly (W)to the world. I have always taught in synagogues and in the temple, where all Jews come together. (X)I have said nothing in secret. 21 Why do you ask me? Ask those who have heard me what I said to them; they know what I said.” 22 When he had said these things, one of the officers standing by struck Jesus with his hand, saying, (Y)“Is that how you answer the high priest?” 23 Jesus answered him, “If what I said is wrong, bear witness about the wrong; but if what I said is right, why do you strike me?” 24 (Z)Annas then sent him bound to (AA)Caiaphas the high priest.
Peter Denies Jesus Again
25 (AB)Now Simon Peter was standing and warming himself. So they said to him, “You also are not one of his disciples, are you?” He denied it and said, “I am not.” 26 One of the servants of the high priest, a relative of (AC)the man whose ear Peter had cut off, asked, “Did I not see you (AD)in the garden with him?” 27 Peter again denied it, and (AE)at once a rooster crowed.
Jesus Before Pilate
28 (AF)Then they led Jesus (AG)from the house of Caiaphas to (AH)the governor's headquarters.[f] It was early morning. They themselves did not enter the governor's headquarters, (AI)so that they would not be defiled, (AJ)but could eat the Passover. 29 (AK)So Pilate went outside to them and said, “What accusation do you bring against this man?” 30 They answered him, “If this man were not doing evil, we would not have delivered him over to you.” 31 Pilate said to them, (AL)“Take him yourselves and judge him by your own law.” The Jews said to him, “It is not lawful for us to put anyone to death.” 32 (AM)This was to fulfill the word that Jesus had spoken (AN)to show by what kind of death he was going to die.
My Kingdom Is Not of This World
33 (AO)So Pilate entered his headquarters again and called Jesus and said to him, (AP)“Are you the King of the Jews?” 34 Jesus answered, “Do you say this of your own accord, or did others say it to you about me?” 35 Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Your own nation and the chief priests have delivered you over to me. What have you done?” 36 Jesus answered, (AQ)“My kingdom (AR)is not of this world. If my kingdom were of this world, (AS)my servants would have been fighting, that (AT)I might not be delivered over to the Jews. But my kingdom is not from the world.” 37 Then Pilate said to him, “So you are a king?” Jesus answered, (AU)“You say that I am a king. (AV)For this purpose I was born and for this purpose (AW)I have come into the world—(AX)to bear witness to the truth. (AY)Everyone who is (AZ)of the truth (BA)listens to my voice.” 38 Pilate said to him, “What is truth?”
After he had said this, (BB)he went back outside to the Jews and told them, (BC)“I find no guilt in him. 39 (BD)But you have a custom that I should release one man for you at the Passover. So do you want me to release to you the King of the Jews?” 40 They cried out again, (BE)“Not this man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber.[g]

22 耶稣说了这些话，站在旁边的一个差役就打了他一巴掌，说：“你这样回答大祭司吗？”
23 耶稣回答他：“如果我说得不对，你可以见证哪里不对；如果说得对，你为什么打我呢？”
24 那时候耶稣仍然被捆绑，亚纳把他押送到大祭司该亚法那里去。

28 他们把耶稣从该亚法那里带到总督府，那时是清晨。他们为了不被污秽，能吃逾越节的晚餐，就没有进入总督府。
29 于是彼拉多出来，到他们那里，说：“你们提出什么来控告这个人？”
30 他们回答说：“这个人如果不是作恶的，我们就不会把他交给你了。”
31 彼拉多对他们说：“你们自己把他带走，按照你们的律法审判他吧。”
那些犹太人回答说：“我们不可以处死人。” 32 这是为要应验耶稣说过的话，就是他指明自己将要怎样死的那些话。
33 彼拉多又进了总督府，把耶稣叫来，问他：“你是犹太人的王吗？”
34 耶稣回答：“这话是你自己说的，还是别人告诉过你关于我的事呢？”

2 And Judas also, who betrayed Him, knew the place, for Jesus oftentimes resorted thither with His disciples.
3 Judas then, having received a band of men and officers from the chief priests and Pharisees, came thither with lanterns and torches and weapons.
4 Jesus therefore, knowing all things that should come upon Him, went forth and said unto them, “Whom seek ye?”
5 They answered Him, “Jesus of Nazareth.” Jesus said unto them, “I am He.” And Judas also, who betrayed Him, stood with them.
6 As soon then as He had said unto them, “I am He,” they went backward and fell to the ground.
7 Then asked He them again, “Whom seek ye?” And they said, “Jesus of Nazareth.”
8 Jesus answered, “I have told you that I am He. If therefore ye seek Me, let these go their way,”
9 that the saying might be fulfilled which He spoke, “Of those that Thou gavest Me, have I lost none.”
10 Then Simon Peter, having a sword, drew it and smote the high priest’s servant and cut off his right ear. The servant’s name was Malchus.
11 Then said Jesus unto Peter, “Put up thy sword into the sheath. The cup which My Father hath given Me, shall I not drink it?”
12 Then the band and the captain and officers of the Jews took Jesus and bound Him,
13 and led Him away to Annas first, for he was the father-in-law of Caiaphas, who was the high priest that same year.
14 Now it was Caiaphas who gave counsel to the Jews that it was expedient that one man should die for the people.
15 And Simon Peter followed Jesus, and so did another disciple. That disciple was known unto the high priest, and went in with Jesus into the palace of the high priest.
16 But Peter stood at the door outside. Then the other disciple, who was known unto the high priest, went out and spoke unto her who kept the door, and brought in Peter.
17 Then the damsel who kept the door said unto Peter, “Art not thou also one of this man’s disciples?” He said, “I am not.”
18 And the servants and officers stood there, who had made a fire of coals, for it was cold and they warmed themselves. And Peter stood with them, and warmed himself.
19 The high priest then asked Jesus about His disciples and about His doctrine.
20 Jesus answered him, “I spoke openly to the world; I ever taught in the synagogue and in the temple whither the Jews always resort, and in secret have I said nothing.
21 Why askest thou Me? Ask them that heard Me what I have said unto them. Behold, they know what I said.”
22 And when He had thus spoken, one of the officers who stood by struck Jesus with the palm of his hand, saying, “Answerest thou the high priest so?”
23 Jesus answered him, “If I have spoken evil, bear witness of the evil; but if well, why smitest thou Me?”
24 Now Annas had sent Him bound unto Caiaphas, the high priest.
25 And Simon Peter stood and warmed himself. They said therefore unto him, “Art not thou also one of his disciples?” He denied it and said, “I am not.”
26 One of the servants of the high priest, being kinsman of him whose ear Peter cut off, said, “Did not I see thee in the garden with him?”
27 Peter then denied again; and immediately the cock crowed.
28 Then they led Jesus from Caiaphas unto the hall of judgment. And it was early, and they themselves went not into the judgment hall, lest they should be defiled, but that they might eat the Passover.
29 Pilate then went out unto them and said, “What accusation bring ye against this man?”
30 They answered and said unto him, “If he were not a malefactor, we would not have delivered him up unto thee.”
31 Then said Pilate unto them, “Take ye him and judge him according to your law.” The Jews therefore said unto him, “It is not lawful for us to put any man to death,”
32 that the saying which Jesus had spoken, signifying what death He should die, might be fulfilled.
33 Then Pilate entered into the judgment hall again, and called Jesus and said unto Him, “Art thou the King of the Jews?”
34 Jesus answered him, “Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of Me?”
35 Pilate answered, “Am I a Jew? Thine own nation and the chief priests have delivered thee unto me. What hast thou done?”
36 Jesus answered, “My Kingdom is not of this world. If My Kingdom were of this world, then would My servants fight, that I should not be delivered to the Jews. But now is My Kingdom not from hence.”
37 Pilate therefore said unto Him, “Art thou a king then?” Jesus answered, “Thou sayest that I am a king. To this end was I born, and for this cause came I into the world, that I should bear witness unto the truth. Every one that is of the truth heareth My voice.”
38 Pilate said unto Him, “What is truth?” And when he said this, he went out again unto the Jews, and said unto them, “I find in him no fault at all.
39 But ye have a custom that I should release unto you one at the Passover. Will ye therefore that I release unto you the King of the Jews?”
40 Then cried they all again, saying, “Not this man, but Barabbas!” Now Barabbas was a robber.
