15 “我是真葡萄树，我父是培植的人。 2 所有属我而不结果子的枝子，他就剪去；所有结果子的，他就修剪干净，让它结更多的果子。 3 现在你们因着我对你们所讲的道，已经干净了。 4 你们要住在我里面，我也就住在你们里面。枝子若不连在葡萄树上，自己就不能结果子；你们若不住在我里面，也是这样。 5 我是葡萄树，你们是枝子。住在我里面的，我也住在他里面，他就结出很多果子；因为离开了我，你们就不能作甚么。 6 人若不住在我里面，就像枝子丢在外面枯干了，人把它们拾起来，丢在火里烧掉了。 7 你们若住在我里面，我的话也留在你们里面；无论你们想要甚么，祈求，就给你们成就。 8 这样，你们结出很多果子，我父就因此得荣耀，你们也就是我的门徒了。 9 父怎样爱我，我也怎样爱你们；你们要住在我的爱里。 10 如果你们遵守我的命令，就必定住在我的爱里，正像我遵守了我父的命令，住在他的爱里一样。
11 “我把这些事告诉了你们，好让我的喜乐存在你们心里，并且使你们的喜乐满溢。 12 你们要彼此相爱，像我爱你们一样，这就是我的命令。 13 人为朋友舍命，人间的爱没有比这个更大的了。 14 你们若行我所吩咐你们的，就是我的朋友了。 15 我不再称你们为仆人，因为仆人不知道主人所作的事；我已经称你们为朋友了，因为我从我父那里听见的一切，都已经告诉你们了。 16 不是你们拣选了我，而是我拣选了你们，并且分派你们去结果子，就是结常存的果子，使你们奉我的名，无论向父求甚么，他必定赐给你们。 17 我把这些事吩咐你们，是要你们彼此相爱。
世人恨主也恨门徒
18 “如果世人恨你们，你们要知道他们在恨你们以先，已经恨我了。 19 你们若属于这世界，世人必定爱属自己的；但因为你们不属于世界，而是我从世界中拣选了你们，所以世人就恨你们。 20 你们要记住我对你们说过的话：‘仆人不能大过主人。’他们若迫害我，也必定迫害你们；他们若遵守我的话，也必定遵守你们的话。 21 但他们因着我的名，要向你们行这一切，因为他们不认识那差我来的。 22 如果我没有来，也没有对他们讲过甚么，他们就没有罪；但现在他们的罪是无可推诿的了。 23 恨我的，也恨我的父。 24 如果我没有在他们中间作过别人没有作过的事，他们就没有罪；但现在我和我的父，他们都看见了，也都恨恶。 25 这就应验了他们律法上所写的话：‘他们无故地恨我。’
26 “我从父那里要差来给你们的保惠师，就是从父那里出来的真理的灵，他来到的时候，要为我作见证。 27 你们也要作见证，因为从开始你们就是跟我在一起的。”

15 »Yo soy la vid verdadera(A) , y Mi Padre es el viñador(B) . 2 Todo sarmiento que en Mí no da fruto, lo quita; y todo el que da fruto, lo poda[a]para que dé más fruto. 3 Ustedes ya están limpios por la palabra(C)que les he hablado.
4 »Permanezcan en Mí(D) , y Yo en ustedes. Como el sarmiento no puede dar fruto por sí mismo si no permanece en la vid, así tampoco ustedes si no permanecen en Mí. 5 Yo soy la vid, ustedes los sarmientos; el que permanece en Mí y Yo en él, ese da mucho fruto(E), porque separados de Mí nada pueden hacer. 6 Si alguien no permanece en Mí, es echado fuera como un sarmiento(F)y se seca; y los recogen, los echan al fuego y se queman.
7 »Si permanecen en Mí, y Mis palabras permanecen en ustedes, pidan lo que quieran y les será hecho(G) . 8 En esto es glorificado Mi Padre(H), en que den mucho fruto, y así prueben que son[b]Mis discípulos(I). 9 Como el Padre me ha amado(J), así también Yo los he amado; permanezcan en Mi amor. 10 Si guardan Mis mandamientos, permanecerán en Mi amor(K), así como Yo he guardado los mandamientos de Mi Padre(L)y permanezco en Su amor.
11 »Estas cosas les he hablado, para que Mi gozo esté en ustedes, y su gozo sea perfecto[c](M) . 12 Este es Mi mandamiento: que se amen los unos a los otros, así como Yo los he amado(N). 13 Nadie tiene un amor mayor que este: que uno dé[d]su vida(O)por sus amigos. 14 Ustedes son Mis amigos(P)si hacen lo que Yo les mando(Q). 15 Ya no los llamo siervos, porque el siervo no sabe lo que hace su señor; pero los he llamado amigos, porque les he dado a conocer todo lo que he oído de Mi Padre(R).
16 »Ustedes no me escogieron a Mí, sino que Yo los escogí a ustedes(S) , y los designé para que vayan y den fruto(T) , y que su fruto permanezca; para que todo lo que pidan al Padre en Mi nombre se lo conceda(U) . 17 Esto les mando: que se amen los unos a los otros(V).
18 »Si el mundo los odia, sepan[e] que me ha odiado a Mí(W) antes que a ustedes. 19 Si ustedes fueran del mundo, el mundo amaría lo suyo; pero como no son del mundo, sino que Yo los escogí(X)de entre el mundo, por eso el mundo los odia(Y). 20 Acuérdense de la palabra que Yo les dije: “Un siervo no es mayor que su señor(Z)”. Si me persiguieron a Mí, también los perseguirán a ustedes(AA); si guardaron Mi palabra(AB), también guardarán la de ustedes. 21 Pero todo eso les harán por causa de Mi nombre(AC), porque no conocen a Aquel que me envió(AD). 22 Si Yo no hubiera venido y no les hubiera hablado, no tendrían pecado[f](AE), pero ahora no tienen excusa por su pecado. 23 El que me odia a Mí, odia también a Mi Padre. 24 Si Yo no hubiera hecho entre ellos las obras(AF)que ningún otro ha hecho, no tendrían pecado[g](AG); pero ahora las han visto, y me han odiado a Mí y también a Mi Padre. 25 Pero ellos han hecho esto para que se cumpla la palabra que está escrita en su ley(AH): “Me odiaron sin causa(AI)”.
26 »Cuando venga el Consolador[h](AJ) , a quien Yo enviaré del Padre(AK) , es decir, el Espíritu de verdad(AL) que procede del Padre, Él dará testimonio de Mí(AM) , 27 y ustedes también darán testimonio[i](AN), porque han estado junto a Mí desde el principio(AO).

The Vine and the Branches
15 “I am(A) the true vine,(B) and my Father is the gardener. 2 He cuts off every branch in me that bears no fruit,(C) while every branch that does bear fruit(D) he prunes[a] so that it will be even more fruitful. 3 You are already clean because of the word I have spoken to you.(E) 4 Remain in me, as I also remain in you.(F) No branch can bear fruit by itself; it must remain in the vine. Neither can you bear fruit unless you remain in me.
5 “I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit;(G) apart from me you can do nothing. 6 If you do not remain in me, you are like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned.(H) 7 If you remain in me(I) and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be done for you.(J) 8 This is to my Father’s glory,(K) that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.(L)
9 “As the Father has loved me,(M) so have I loved you. Now remain in my love. 10 If you keep my commands,(N) you will remain in my love, just as I have kept my Father’s commands and remain in his love. 11 I have told you this so that my joy may be in you and that your joy may be complete.(O) 12 My command is this: Love each other as I have loved you.(P) 13 Greater love has no one than this: to lay down one’s life for one’s friends.(Q) 14 You are my friends(R) if you do what I command.(S) 15 I no longer call you servants, because a servant does not know his master’s business. Instead, I have called you friends, for everything that I learned from my Father I have made known to you.(T) 16 You did not choose me, but I chose you and appointed you(U) so that you might go and bear fruit(V)—fruit that will last—and so that whatever you ask in my name the Father will give you.(W) 17 This is my command: Love each other.(X)
The World Hates the Disciples
18 “If the world hates you,(Y) keep in mind that it hated me first. 19 If you belonged to the world, it would love you as its own. As it is, you do not belong to the world, but I have chosen you(Z) out of the world. That is why the world hates you.(AA) 20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant is not greater than his master.’[b](AB) If they persecuted me, they will persecute you also.(AC) If they obeyed my teaching, they will obey yours also. 21 They will treat you this way because of my name,(AD) for they do not know the one who sent me.(AE) 22 If I had not come and spoken to them,(AF) they would not be guilty of sin; but now they have no excuse for their sin.(AG) 23 Whoever hates me hates my Father as well. 24 If I had not done among them the works no one else did,(AH) they would not be guilty of sin.(AI) As it is, they have seen, and yet they have hated both me and my Father. 25 But this is to fulfill what is written in their Law:(AJ) ‘They hated me without reason.’[c](AK)
The Work of the Holy Spirit
26 “When the Advocate(AL) comes, whom I will send to you from the Father(AM)—the Spirit of truth(AN) who goes out from the Father—he will testify about me.(AO) 27 And you also must testify,(AP) for you have been with me from the beginning.(AQ)

The True Vine
15 “I am the true vine, and My Father is the vinedresser. 2 (A)Every branch in Me that does not bear fruit He [a]takes away; and every branch that bears fruit He prunes, that it may bear (B)more fruit. 3 (C)You are already clean because of the word which I have spoken to you. 4 (D)Abide in Me, and I in you. As the branch cannot bear fruit of itself, unless it abides in the vine, neither can you, unless you abide in Me.
5 “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much (E)fruit; for without Me you can do (F)nothing. 6 If anyone does not abide in Me, (G)he is cast out as a branch and is withered; and they gather them and throw them into the fire, and they are burned. 7 If you abide in Me, and My words (H)abide in you, (I)you[b] will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 (J)By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; (K)so you will be My disciples.
Love and Joy Perfected
9 “As the Father (L)loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 (M)If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love.
11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and (N)that your joy may be full. 12 (O)This is My (P)commandment, that you love one another as I have loved you. 13 (Q)Greater love has no one than this, than to lay down one’s life for his friends. 14 (R)You are My friends if you do whatever I command you. 15 No longer do I call you servants, for a servant does not know what his master is doing; but I have called you friends, (S)for all things that I heard from My Father I have made known to you. 16 (T)You did not choose Me, but I chose you and (U)appointed you that you should go and bear fruit, and that your fruit should remain, that whatever you ask the Father (V)in My name He may give you. 17 These things I command you, that you love one another.
The World’s Hatred

Yet (Y)because you are not of the world, but I chose you out of the world, therefore the world hates you. 20 Remember the word that I said to you, (Z)‘A servant is not greater than his master.’ If they persecuted Me, they will also persecute you. (AA)If they kept My word, they will keep yours also. 21 But (AB)all these things they will do to you for My name’s sake, because they do not know Him who sent Me. 22 (AC)If I had not come and spoken to them, they would have no sin, (AD)but now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 (AE)He who hates Me hates My Father also. 24 If I had not done among them (AF)the works which no one else did, they would have no sin; but now they have (AG)seen and also hated both Me and My Father. 25 But this happened that the word might be fulfilled which is written in their law, (AH)‘They hated Me without a cause.’
The Coming Rejection

Jesus, the True Vine
15 ⌞Then Jesus said,⌟ “I am the true vine, and my Father takes care of the vineyard. 2 He removes every one of my branches that doesn’t produce fruit. He also prunes every branch that does produce fruit to make it produce more fruit.
3 “You are already clean [a] because of what I have told you. 4 Live in me, and I will live in you. A branch cannot produce any fruit by itself. It has to stay attached to the vine. In the same way, you cannot produce fruit unless you live in me.
5 “I am the vine. You are the branches. Those who live in me while I live in them will produce a lot of fruit. But you can’t produce anything without me. 6 Whoever doesn’t live in me is thrown away like a branch and dries up. Branches like this are gathered, thrown into a fire, and burned. 7 If you live in me and what I say lives in you, then ask for anything you want, and it will be yours. 8 You give glory to my Father when you produce a lot of fruit and therefore show that you are my disciples.
9 “I have loved you the same way the Father has loved me. So live in my love. 10 If you obey my commandments, you will live in my love. I have obeyed my Father’s commandments, and in that way I live in his love. 11 I have told you this so that you will be as joyful as I am, and your joy will be complete. 12 Love each other as I have loved you. This is what I’m commanding you to do. 13 The greatest love you can show is to give your life for your friends. 14 You are my friends if you obey my commandments. 15 I don’t call you servants anymore, because a servant doesn’t know what his master is doing. But I’ve called you friends because I’ve made known to you everything that I’ve heard from my Father. 16 You didn’t choose me, but I chose you. I have appointed you to go, to produce fruit that will last, and to ask the Father in my name to give you whatever you ask for. 17 Love each other. This is what I’m commanding you to do.
18 “If the world hates you, realize that it hated me before it hated you. 19 If you had anything in common with the world, the world would love you as one of its own. But you don’t have anything in common with the world. I chose you from the world, and that’s why the world hates you. 20 Remember what I told you: ‘A servant isn’t greater than his master.’ If they persecuted me, they will also persecute you. If they did what I said, they will also do what you say. 21 Indeed, they will do all this to you because you are committed to me, since they don’t know the one who sent me. 22 If I hadn’t come and spoken to them, they wouldn’t have any sin. But now they have no excuse for their sin. 23 The person who hates me also hates my Father. 24 If I hadn’t done among them what no one else has done, they wouldn’t have any sin. But now they have seen and hated both me and my Father. 25 In this way what is written in their Scriptures has come true: ‘They hate me for no reason.’
26 “The helper whom I will send to you from the Father will come. This helper, the Spirit of Truth who comes from the Father, will declare the truth about me. 27 You will declare the truth, too, because you have been with me from the beginning.”
