耶稣预指卖他的人
18 “我这话不是指着你们众人说的，我知道我所拣选的是谁。现在要应验经上的话说：‘同我吃饭的人用脚踢我。’ 19 如今事情还没有成就，我要先告诉你们，叫你们到事情成就的时候，可以信我是基督。 20 我实实在在地告诉你们：有人接待我所差遣的，就是接待我；接待我，就是接待那差遣我的。”
21 耶稣说了这话，心里忧愁，就明说：“我实实在在地告诉你们：你们中间有一个人要卖我了。” 22 门徒彼此对看，猜不透所说的是谁。 23 有一个门徒，是耶稣所爱的，侧身挨近耶稣的怀里。 24 西门彼得点头对他说：“你告诉我们主是指着谁说的。” 25 那门徒便就势靠着耶稣的胸膛，问他说：“主啊，是谁呢？” 26 耶稣回答说：“我蘸一点饼给谁，就是谁。”耶稣就蘸了一点饼，递给加略人西门的儿子犹大。 27 他吃了以后，撒旦就入了他的心。耶稣便对他说：“你所做的，快做吧！” 28 同席的人没有一个知道为什么对他说这话。 29 有人因犹大带着钱囊，以为耶稣是对他说“你去买我们过节所应用的东西”，或是叫他拿什么周济穷人。 30 犹大受了那点饼，立刻就出去。那时候是夜间了。
主赐一条新命令
31 他既出去，耶稣就说：“如今人子得了荣耀，神在人子身上也得了荣耀。 32 神要因自己荣耀人子，并且要快快地荣耀他。 33 小子们，我还有不多的时候与你们同在，后来你们要找我，但我所去的地方你们不能到。这话我曾对犹太人说过，如今也照样对你们说。 34 我赐给你们一条新命令，乃是叫你们彼此相爱，我怎样爱你们，你们也要怎样相爱。 35 你们若有彼此相爱的心，众人因此就认出你们是我的门徒了。”
预言彼得不认主

13 逾越节之前，耶稣知道自己快要离开世界回到父那里了。祂一直爱世上属自己的人，并且爱他们到底。 2 吃晚饭的时候，魔鬼已经把出卖耶稣的念头放在加略人西门的儿子犹大的心里。 3 耶稣知道父将一切交给了祂，也知道自己从上帝那里来、要回到上帝那里， 4 就离席站起来，脱了外衣，把毛巾束在腰间， 5 然后倒了一盆水为门徒洗脚，用束在腰间的毛巾擦干。 6 轮到西门·彼得的时候，他说：“主啊！你要洗我的脚吗？”
7 耶稣回答说：“我这样做，你现在虽然不明白，将来一定会明白。”
8 彼得说：“你绝对不可以洗我的脚。”

16 “我实实在在地告诉你们，奴仆不能大过主人，受差遣的也不能大过差遣他的人。 17 既然你们明白这个道理，如果去实践，就有福了。 18 我这话不是对你们每一个人说的，我知道我拣选了谁，但这是为了要应验圣经上的话，‘吃我饭的人用脚踢我。’[a] 19 我在事情还没有发生之前，预先告诉你们，等事情发生以后，你们就会相信我是基督。 20 我实实在在地告诉你们，人若接待我所差遣的，就是接待我；接待我，就是接待差我来的那位。”
预言犹大卖主
21 说完这番话，耶稣心里忧伤，便宣布说：“我实实在在地告诉你们，你们中间有一个人要出卖我。” 22 门徒面面相觑，不知道耶稣指的是谁。 23-24 西门·彼得向耶稣所爱的那个门徒点头示意，让他问耶稣到底是谁要出卖祂。那门徒坐在耶稣旁边， 25 便顺势靠过去问耶稣：“主啊，是谁呢？”

新命令
31 犹大出去以后，耶稣就说：“现在人子得到荣耀了，上帝在人子身上也得了荣耀。 32 上帝既然在人子身上得了荣耀，也要让人子在祂身上得荣耀，并且马上要使人子得荣耀。 33 孩子们，我与你们同在的时间不多了，以后你们要找我，但我去的地方，你们不能去。这句话我以前对犹太人说过，现在也照样告诉你们。 34 我赐给你们一条新命令——你们要彼此相爱。我怎样爱你们，你们也要怎样彼此相爱。 35 你们如果彼此相爱，世人就会认出你们是我的门徒。”

Jesus Washes His Disciples’ Feet
13 Before the Passover Festival, Jesus knew that his hour had come to depart from this world to the Father.(A) Having loved his own who were in the world,(B) he loved them to the end.
2 Now when it was time for supper, the devil(C) had already put it into the heart of Judas,(D) Simon Iscariot’s son,[a] to betray(E) him. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had given everything into his hands,(F) that he had come from God,(G) and that he was going back to God.(H) 4 So he got up from supper, laid aside his outer clothing,(I) took a towel, and tied it round himself.(J) 5 Next, he poured water into a basin and began to wash his disciples’ feet and to dry them with the towel tied round him.
6 He came to Simon Peter,(K) who asked him, ‘Lord, are you going to wash my feet? ’
7 Jesus answered him, ‘What I’m doing you don’t realise now, but afterwards you will understand.’(L)
8 ‘You will never wash my feet,’ Peter said.
Jesus replied, ‘If I don’t wash you, you have no part with me.’
9 Simon Peter said to him, ‘Lord, not only my feet, but also my hands and my head.’
10 ‘One who has bathed,’ Jesus told him, ‘doesn’t need to wash anything except his feet, but he is completely clean. You are clean, but not all of you.’ 11 For he knew who would betray him. This is why he said, ‘Not all of you are clean.’
The Meaning of the Foot Washing
12 When Jesus had washed their feet and put on his outer clothing, he reclined again and said to them, ‘Do you know what I have done for you? 13 You call me Teacher and Lord – and you are speaking rightly, since that is what I am. 14 So if I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet.(M) 15 For I have given you an example,(N) that you also should do just as I have done for you.
16 ‘Truly I tell you, a servant is not greater than his master,[b](O) and a messenger is not greater than the one who sent him. 17 If you know these things, you are blessed if you do them.(P)
18 ‘I’m not speaking about all of you; I know those I have chosen.(Q) But the Scripture(R) must be fulfilled:(S) The one who eats my bread[c] has raised his heel against me.[d](T) 19 I am telling you now before it happens,(U) so that when it does happen you will believe(V) that I am he.(W) 20 Truly I tell you, whoever receives anyone I send receives me, and the one who receives(X) me receives him who sent me.’
Judas’s Betrayal Predicted
21 When(Y) Jesus had said this, he was troubled in his spirit(Z) and testified,(AA) ‘Truly I tell you, one of you will betray me.’
22 The disciples started looking at one another – uncertain which one he was speaking about. 23 One of his disciples, the one Jesus loved,(AB) was reclining close beside Jesus.[e] 24 Simon Peter motioned to him to find out who it was he was talking about. 25 So he leaned back against Jesus and asked him, ‘Lord, who is it? ’
26 Jesus replied, ‘He’s the one I give the piece of bread to after I have dipped it.’(AC) When he had dipped the bread,(AD) he gave it to Judas, Simon Iscariot’s son.[f] 27 After Judas ate the piece of bread, Satan(AE) entered him. So Jesus told him, ‘What you’re doing, do quickly.’
28 None of those reclining at the table knew why he said this to him. 29 Since Judas(AF) kept the money-bag, some thought that Jesus was telling him, ‘Buy what we need for the festival,’(AG) or that he should give something to the poor. 30 After receiving the piece of bread, he immediately left. And it was night.(AH)
The New Command
31 When(AI) he had left, Jesus said, ‘Now the Son of Man(AJ) is glorified, and God is glorified(AK) in him.(AL) 32 If God is glorified in him,[g] God will also glorify him in himself and will glorify him at once. 33 Little children, I am with you a little while longer.(AM) You will look for me, and just as I told the Jews, so now I tell you, “Where I am going, you cannot come.”(AN)
34 ‘I give you a new command: Love one another. Just as I have loved you, you are also to love one another. 35 By this everyone will know that you are my disciples, if you love(AO) one another.’
Peter’s Denials Predicted
36 ‘Lord,’ Simon Peter said to him, ‘where are you going? ’
Jesus answered, ‘Where I am going(AP) you cannot follow me now, but you will follow later.’
37 ‘Lord,’ Peter asked, ‘why can’t I follow you now? I will lay down my life(AQ) for you.’(AR)
38 Jesus replied, ‘Will you lay down your life for me? Truly I tell you, a cock will not crow until you have denied me three times.

Jesus Washes His Disciples’ Feet
13 Before the Passover celebration, Jesus knew that his hour had come to leave this world and return to his Father. He had loved his disciples during his ministry on earth, and now he loved them to the very end.[a] 2 It was time for supper, and the devil had already prompted Judas,[b] son of Simon Iscariot, to betray Jesus. 3 Jesus knew that the Father had given him authority over everything and that he had come from God and would return to God. 4 So he got up from the table, took off his robe, wrapped a towel around his waist, 5 and poured water into a basin. Then he began to wash the disciples’ feet, drying them with the towel he had around him.
6 When Jesus came to Simon Peter, Peter said to him, “Lord, are you going to wash my feet?”
7 Jesus replied, “You don’t understand now what I am doing, but someday you will.”
8 “No,” Peter protested, “you will never ever wash my feet!”
Jesus replied, “Unless I wash you, you won’t belong to me.”
9 Simon Peter exclaimed, “Then wash my hands and head as well, Lord, not just my feet!”
10 Jesus replied, “A person who has bathed all over does not need to wash, except for the feet,[c] to be entirely clean. And you disciples are clean, but not all of you.” 11 For Jesus knew who would betray him. That is what he meant when he said, “Not all of you are clean.”
12 After washing their feet, he put on his robe again and sat down and asked, “Do you understand what I was doing? 13 You call me ‘Teacher’ and ‘Lord,’ and you are right, because that’s what I am. 14 And since I, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you ought to wash each other’s feet. 15 I have given you an example to follow. Do as I have done to you. 16 I tell you the truth, slaves are not greater than their master. Nor is the messenger more important than the one who sends the message. 17 Now that you know these things, God will bless you for doing them.
Jesus Predicts His Betrayal
18 “I am not saying these things to all of you; I know the ones I have chosen. But this fulfills the Scripture that says, ‘The one who eats my food has turned against me.’[d] 19 I tell you this beforehand, so that when it happens you will believe that I am the Messiah.[e] 20 I tell you the truth, anyone who welcomes my messenger is welcoming me, and anyone who welcomes me is welcoming the Father who sent me.”
21 Now Jesus was deeply troubled,[f] and he exclaimed, “I tell you the truth, one of you will betray me!”
22 The disciples looked at each other, wondering whom he could mean. 23 The disciple Jesus loved was sitting next to Jesus at the table.[g] 24 Simon Peter motioned to him to ask, “Who’s he talking about?” 25 So that disciple leaned over to Jesus and asked, “Lord, who is it?”
26 Jesus responded, “It is the one to whom I give the bread I dip in the bowl.” And when he had dipped it, he gave it to Judas, son of Simon Iscariot. 27 When Judas had eaten the bread, Satan entered into him. Then Jesus told him, “Hurry and do what you’re going to do.” 28 None of the others at the table knew what Jesus meant. 29 Since Judas was their treasurer, some thought Jesus was telling him to go and pay for the food or to give some money to the poor. 30 So Judas left at once, going out into the night.
Jesus Predicts Peter’s Denial
31 As soon as Judas left the room, Jesus said, “The time has come for the Son of Man[h] to enter into his glory, and God will be glorified because of him. 32 And since God receives glory because of the Son,[i] he will give his own glory to the Son, and he will do so at once. 33 Dear children, I will be with you only a little longer. And as I told the Jewish leaders, you will search for me, but you can’t come where I am going. 34 So now I am giving you a new commandment: Love each other. Just as I have loved you, you should love each other. 35 Your love for one another will prove to the world that you are my disciples.”
36 Simon Peter asked, “Lord, where are you going?”
And Jesus replied, “You can’t go with me now, but you will follow me later.”
37 “But why can’t I come now, Lord?” he asked. “I’m ready to die for you.”
38 Jesus answered, “Die for me? I tell you the truth, Peter—before the rooster crows tomorrow morning, you will deny three times that you even know me.
