神成为人
1 太初有道，
道与神同在，
道就是神。
2 这道太初与神同在。
3 万有是藉着他而成的；
凡所成的，
没有一样不是藉着他而成的。
4 生命在他里面，
这生命就是人的光。
5 这光在黑暗中照耀，
黑暗却没有胜过[a]这光。
6 有一个人受神的差派而来，
他名叫约翰。
7 他为见证而来，
是要为这光做见证，
好让人都藉着他相信。
8 他不是这光，
而是要为这光做见证。
9 这光是真光，
来到这世界照亮每个人。
10 他在这世界，
世界也是藉着他而成的，
世界却不认识他。
11 他来到自己的地方，
自己的人却不接受他。
12 但是所有接受他的，
就是信他名的人，
他就赐给他们权柄成为神的儿女。
13 他们不是由血缘、
或肉体的意愿、
或人的意志所生的，
而是由神所生的。
14 道成了肉身，
居住在我们中间。
我们看到了他的荣耀，
正是从父而来的独生子的荣耀，
充满了恩典和真理。
15 约翰为他做见证，呼喊说：
“这一位就是我曾说过的，
‘那在我之后来的，已成为在我前面的，
因为他在我之前就已经存在。’”
16 原来从他的丰盛完美中，
我们都领受了恩典，而且恩上加恩。
17 因为律法是藉着摩西赐下的，
恩典和真理是藉着耶稣基督而来的。
18 从来没有人看见神，
只有在父怀里的那位独生子——神，
他将神表明了出来。
施洗约翰的见证
19 以下是约翰的见证。那时候，耶路撒冷的那些犹太人派了一些祭司和利未人到约翰那里去问他：“你是谁？”
20 他就承认，并毫不否认地告白：“我不是基督。”
21 他们又问：“那么你是谁呢？是以利亚吗？”
他说：“我不是。”
“是那位先知[b]吗？”
他回答：“不是。”
22 于是他们问：“你到底是谁？好让我们给那些派我们来的人一个答复。你自己说，你是什么人？”
23 约翰说：“正如先知以赛亚所说的，我就是在旷野里呼喊的声音：‘你们当修直[c]主的道[d]。’[e]”
24 那些被派来的人属于法利赛人， 25 他们又问约翰：“你既不是基督，又不是以利亚，也不是那位先知，那么，你为什么施洗呢？”
26 约翰回答说：“我用水[f]施洗，但有一位站在你们中间，是你们不认识的， 27 他是那在我之后来的，[g]我就是为他解鞋带也不配。”
28 这些事发生在约旦河对岸的伯大尼[h]，就是约翰施洗的地方。
神的羔羊
29 第二天，约翰看见耶稣向他走来，就说：“看哪，神的羔羊，除去世人罪孽的！ 30 这一位就是我所说的‘那在我之后来的人，已成为在我前面的，因为在我之前他就存在了。’ 31 我以前也不认识他，但为了让他向以色列显明，所以我来用水施洗。”
32 约翰又见证说：“我看到圣灵好像鸽子从天上降临，停留在他身上。 33 我以前也不认识他，可是那派我用水施洗的对我说：‘如果你看见圣灵降临在谁身上，又停留在谁身上，谁就是用圣灵施洗的那一位。’ 34 我看到了，就见证：这一位就是神的儿子[i]。”
35 过了一天，约翰和他的两个门徒又站在那里。 36 约翰看着耶稣走过，就说：“看哪，神的羔羊！”
37 那两个门徒听他说话，就跟从了耶稣。 38 耶稣转过身来，看到他们跟着走，就问：“你们寻找什么呢？”
他们对耶稣说：“拉比，你住在哪里呢？”——“拉比”翻译出来意思是“老师”。
39 耶稣说：“你们来看吧！”他们去了，看见耶稣住的地方，那天就住在他那里。那时大约是下午四点[j]。
40 听见了约翰的话而跟从耶稣的两个人中，有一个是西门彼得的弟弟安得烈。 41 安得烈先去找自己的哥哥[k]西门，对他说：“我们找到了弥赛亚。”——“弥赛亚”翻译出来就是“基督”。 42 他就带西门到耶稣那里。
耶稣注视着他，说：“你是约翰[l]的儿子西门，你将被称为矶法。”——“矶法”翻译出来就是“彼得[m]”。
腓力与拿旦业
43 又过了一天，耶稣决定前往加利利地区。他找到腓力，对他说：“你跟从我！”
44 腓力来自伯赛达，与安得烈和彼得同乡。 45 腓力找到拿旦业[n]，对他说：“我们发现了摩西在律法上所写的，和先知们所记的那一位。他就是约瑟的儿子，拿撒勒人耶稣。”
46 拿旦业对他说：“拿撒勒还能出什么好的吗？”
腓力说：“你来看吧！”
47 耶稣看见拿旦业向他走来，就指着他说：“看，一个真正的以色列人！他里面没有诡诈。”
48 拿旦业对耶稣说：“你怎么知道我呢？”
耶稣回答说：“腓力叫你以前，你还在无花果树下，我就看见你了。”
49 拿旦业说：“拉比，你是神的儿子，你是以色列的王！”
50 耶稣对他说：“因为我说‘我看见你在无花果树下’，你就信吗？你将会看到比这更大的事。” 51 耶稣又对他说：“我确确实实地告诉你们：你们将会看见天敞开了，神的天使们在人子上头，上去下来。”

La Palabra, luz y vida
1 Antes de que todo comenzara
ya existía aquel que es la Palabra.
La Palabra estaba con Dios,
y la Palabra era Dios.
2 Cuando Dios creó todas las cosas,
allí estaba la Palabra.
3 Todo fue creado por la Palabra,
y sin la Palabra nada se hizo.
4 De la Palabra nace la vida,
y la Palabra, que es la vida,
es también nuestra luz.
5 La luz alumbra en la oscuridad,
¡y nada puede destruirla!
6 Dios envió a un hombre llamado Juan, 7 para que hablara con la gente y la convenciera de creer en la luz. 8 Juan no era la luz; él sólo vino para mostrar quién era la luz. 9 Y la luz verdadera pronto llegaría a este mundo.
10 Aquel que es la Palabra estaba en el mundo.
Dios creó el mundo
por medio de aquel que es la Palabra,
pero la gente no lo reconoció.
11 La Palabra vino a vivir a este mundo,
pero su pueblo no la aceptó.

16-18 Dios nos dio a conocer sus leyes por medio de Moisés, pero por medio de Jesucristo nos hizo conocer el amor y la verdad. Nadie ha visto a Dios jamás; pero el Hijo único, que está más cerca del Padre, y que es Dios mismo, nos ha enseñado cómo es él. Gracias a lo que el Hijo de Dios es, hemos recibido muchas bendiciones.
Juan el Bautista habla de Jesús
19-20 Los jefes de los judíos que vivían en Jerusalén enviaron a algunos sacerdotes, y a otros ayudantes del templo, para que le preguntaran a Juan quién era él. Juan les respondió claramente:
—Yo no soy el Mesías.
21 Y ellos volvieron a preguntarle:
—¿Eres Elías?
Juan les respondió:
—No; no soy Elías.
Pero los sacerdotes y sus acompañantes insistieron:
—¿Eres tú el profeta[a] que Dios iba a enviar?
—No —dijo Juan.
22 Finalmente, le dijeron:
—Tenemos que llevar una respuesta a los que nos enviaron. Dinos, ¿quién eres tú?
23 Juan les hizo recordar:
—Yo soy el que grita en el desierto: “Prepárenle el camino al Señor”.[b]
24-25 Entonces los mensajeros de los fariseos le dijeron a Juan:
—Si tú no eres el Mesías, ni Elías ni el profeta, ¿por qué bautizas?
26 Juan contestó:
—Yo bautizo con agua. Pero hay entre ustedes uno a quien todavía no conocen. 27 Aunque yo he llegado antes, él es más importante que yo, y ni siquiera merezco ser su esclavo.
28 Todo esto pasó en el pueblo de Betania, al otro lado del río Jordán, donde Juan bautizaba.
El Cordero de Dios
29 Al día siguiente, Juan vio que Jesús se acercaba. Entonces le dijo a toda la gente:
«¡Aquí viene el Cordero de Dios[c] que quita el pecado de la gente del mundo! Por medio de él, Dios les perdonará a ustedes todos sus pecados. 30 Yo me refería a él cuando dije: “Después de mí viene uno que es más importante que yo, porque existe desde antes de que yo naciera.” 31 Yo no sabía quién era, pero Dios me mandó a bautizar con agua para que todos puedan conocerlo.
32 »Yo vi cuando el Espíritu de Dios bajaba del cielo en forma de paloma y se colocaba sobre él. 33 No sabía yo quién era él, pero Dios me dijo: “Conocerás al que bautiza con el Espíritu Santo cuando veas que mi Espíritu baja y se coloca sobre él.” 34 Ahora lo he visto, y les aseguro que él es el Hijo de Dios.»
Los primeros discípulos de Jesús
35 Al día siguiente, Juan estaba en el mismo lugar con dos de sus discípulos. 36 Cuando vio que Jesús pasaba por allí, les dijo: «¡Miren, aquí viene el Cordero de Dios!»[d] 37 Al oír eso, los dos discípulos lo siguieron.
38 Jesús se dio vuelta y, al ver que lo seguían, les preguntó qué querían. Ellos le preguntaron:
—¿Dónde vives, Maestro?
39 —Síganme y lo verán —contestó Jesús.
Ellos fueron y vieron dónde vivía Jesús; y como eran casi las cuatro de la tarde, se quedaron con él por el resto del día.
40 Uno de ellos era Andrés, el hermano de Simón Pedro. 41 Lo primero que hizo Andrés fue buscar a su hermano Simón. Cuando lo encontró, le dijo: «¡Hemos encontrado al Mesías, es decir, al Cristo!»
42 Entonces Andrés llevó a Simón a donde estaba Jesús. Cuando Jesús vio a Simón, le dijo: «Tú eres Simón, hijo de Juan, pero ahora te vas a llamar Cefas, es decir, Pedro».[e]
Jesús llama a Felipe y a Natanael
43-44 Al día siguiente, Jesús decidió ir a la región de Galilea. Allí encontró a Felipe, que era de Betsaida, el pueblo donde vivían Andrés y Pedro. Jesús le dijo a Felipe: «Sígueme».
45 Luego Felipe fue a buscar a Natanael, y le dijo:
—Hemos encontrado a aquel de quien Moisés escribió en la Biblia, y del que también hablan los profetas. Es Jesús de Nazaret, el hijo de José.
46 Natanael preguntó:
—¿Acaso puede salir algo bueno de Nazaret?
—Ven y lo verás —contestó Felipe.
47 Cuando Jesús vio que Natanael se acercaba, dijo:
—Aquí viene un verdadero israelita, un hombre realmente sincero.
48 Natanael le preguntó:
—¿Cómo es que me conoces?
Jesús le respondió:
—Me fijé en ti cuando estabas bajo la higuera, antes que Felipe te llamara.
49 Entonces Natanael respondió:
—Maestro, ¡tú eres el Hijo de Dios y el Rey de Israel!
50 Jesús le dijo:
—¿Crees esto sólo porque dije que te vi debajo de la higuera? Pues todavía verás cosas más sorprendentes que éstas.
51 Y luego les dijo a todos: «Les aseguro que ustedes verán el cielo abierto, y verán también a los ángeles de Dios subir y bajar sobre mí, que soy el Hijo del hombre.»

El Verbo se hizo hombre

sin él, nada de lo creado llegó a existir.
4 En él estaba la vida
y la vida era la luz de la humanidad.
5 Esta luz resplandece en la oscuridad
y la oscuridad no ha podido apagarla.[a]
6 Vino un hombre llamado Juan. Dios lo envió 7 como testigo para dar testimonio de la luz, a fin de que por medio de él todos creyeran. 8 Juan no era la luz, sino que vino para dar testimonio de la luz. 9 Esa luz verdadera, la que alumbra a todo ser humano, venía a este mundo.[b]
10 El que era la luz ya estaba en el mundo y el mundo fue creado por medio de él, pero el mundo no lo reconoció. 11 Vino a lo que era suyo, pero los suyos no lo recibieron. 12 Mas a cuantos lo recibieron, a los que creen en su nombre, les dio el derecho de ser hechos hijos de Dios. 13 Estos no nacen de la sangre, ni por deseos naturales, ni por voluntad humana, sino que nacen de Dios.

15 Juan dio testimonio de él y a voz en cuello proclamó: «Este es aquel de quien yo decía: “El que viene después de mí es superior a mí, porque existía antes que yo”». 16 De su plenitud todos recibimos gracia sobre gracia, 17 pues la Ley fue dada por medio de Moisés, mientras que la gracia y la verdad nos han llegado por medio de Jesucristo. 18 A Dios nadie lo ha visto nunca; el Hijo único, que es Dios[d] y que vive en unión íntima con el Padre, nos lo ha dado a conocer.
Juan el Bautista niega ser el Cristo
19 Este es el testimonio de Juan cuando los judíos de Jerusalén enviaron sacerdotes y levitas a preguntarle quién era. 20 No se negó a declararlo, sino que confesó con franqueza:
—Yo no soy el Cristo.
21 —¿Quién eres entonces? —le preguntaron—. ¿Acaso eres Elías?
—No lo soy.
—¿Eres el profeta?
—No lo soy.
22 —Entonces, ¿quién eres? Tenemos que llevar una respuesta a los que nos enviaron. ¿Qué dices de ti mismo?
23 Juan respondió con las palabras del profeta Isaías:
—“Yo soy la voz de uno que grita en el desierto: ‘Enderecen el camino para el Señor’ ”.[e]
24 Los que habían sido enviados eran de los fariseos. 25 Ellos preguntaron:

Jesús, el Cordero de Dios
29 Al día siguiente, Juan vio a Jesús que se acercaba a él y dijo: «¡Aquí tienen al Cordero de Dios, que quita el pecado del mundo! 30 De este hablaba yo cuando dije: “Después de mí viene un hombre que es superior a mí, porque existía antes que yo”. 31 Yo ni siquiera lo conocía, pero para que él se revelara al pueblo de Israel, vine bautizando con agua».
32 Juan declaró: «Vi al Espíritu descender del cielo como una paloma y permanecer sobre él. 33 Yo mismo no lo conocía, pero el que me envió a bautizar con agua me dijo: “Aquel sobre quien veas que el Espíritu desciende y permanece es el que bautiza con el Espíritu Santo”. 34 Yo lo he visto y por eso testifico que este es el Hijo de Dios».
Los primeros discípulos de Jesús(A)
35 Al día siguiente, Juan estaba de nuevo allí con dos de sus discípulos. 36 Al ver a Jesús que pasaba por ahí, dijo:
—¡Aquí tienen al Cordero de Dios!
37 Cuando los dos discípulos lo oyeron decir esto, siguieron a Jesús. 38 Jesús se volvió y al ver que lo seguían, les preguntó:
—¿Qué buscan?
—Rabí, ¿dónde te hospedas? (Rabí significa “Maestro”.)
39 —Vengan a ver —contestó Jesús.
Ellos fueron, pues, y vieron dónde se hospedaba. Ese mismo día se quedaron con él. Eran como las cuatro de la tarde.
40 Andrés, hermano de Simón Pedro, era uno de los dos que, al oír a Juan, había seguido a Jesús. 41 Andrés encontró primero a su hermano Simón y le dijo:
—Hemos encontrado al Mesías —es decir, el Cristo.
42 Luego lo llevó a Jesús, quien lo miró y dijo:
—Tú eres Simón, hijo de Juan. Serás llamado Cefas —es decir, Pedro.[g]
Jesús llama a Felipe y a Natanael
43 Al día siguiente, Jesús decidió salir hacia Galilea. Se encontró con Felipe y lo llamó:
«Sígueme».
44 Felipe era del pueblo de Betsaida, lo mismo que Andrés y Pedro. 45 Felipe buscó a Natanael y le dijo:
—Hemos encontrado a Jesús de Nazaret, el hijo de José, aquel de quien escribió Moisés en la Ley y de quien escribieron los profetas.
46 —¡De Nazaret! —respondió Natanael—. ¿Acaso de allí puede salir algo bueno?
—Ven a ver —contestó Felipe.
47 Cuando Jesús vio que Natanael se acercaba, comentó:
—Aquí tienen a un verdadero israelita en quien no hay falsedad.
48 —¿De dónde me conoces? —preguntó Natanael.
Jesús respondió:
—Antes de que Felipe te llamara, cuando aún estabas bajo la higuera, ya te había visto.
49 —Rabí, ¡tú eres el Hijo de Dios! ¡Tú eres el Rey de Israel! —declaró Natanael.
50 Jesús le dijo:
—¿Lo crees porque te dije que te vi cuando estabas debajo de la higuera? ¡Vas a ver aún cosas más grandes que estas!
51 Y añadió con firmeza:
—Les aseguro que ustedes verán abrirse el cielo, y a los ángeles de Dios subir y bajar sobre el Hijo del hombre.

1 In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.
2 The same was in the beginning with God.
3 All things were made by him; and without him was not any thing made that was made.
4 In him was life; and the life was the light of men.
5 And the light shineth in darkness; and the darkness comprehended it not.
6 There was a man sent from God, whose name was John.
7 The same came for a witness, to bear witness of the Light, that all men through him might believe.
8 He was not that Light, but was sent to bear witness of that Light.
9 That was the true Light, which lighteth every man that cometh into the world.

26 John answered them, saying, I baptize with water: but there standeth one among you, whom ye know not;
27 He it is, who coming after me is preferred before me, whose shoe's latchet I am not worthy to unloose.
28 These things were done in Bethabara beyond Jordan, where John was baptizing.
29 The next day John seeth Jesus coming unto him, and saith, Behold the Lamb of God, which taketh away the sin of the world.
30 This is he of whom I said, After me cometh a man which is preferred before me: for he was before me.
31 And I knew him not: but that he should be made manifest to Israel, therefore am I come baptizing with water.
32 And John bare record, saying, I saw the Spirit descending from heaven like a dove, and it abode upon him.
33 And I knew him not: but he that sent me to baptize with water, the same said unto me, Upon whom thou shalt see the Spirit descending, and remaining on him, the same is he which baptizeth with the Holy Ghost.
34 And I saw, and bare record that this is the Son of God.
35 Again the next day after John stood, and two of his disciples;
36 And looking upon Jesus as he walked, he saith, Behold the Lamb of God!
37 And the two disciples heard him speak, and they followed Jesus.
38 Then Jesus turned, and saw them following, and saith unto them, What seek ye? They said unto him, Rabbi, (which is to say, being interpreted, Master,) where dwellest thou?
39 He saith unto them, Come and see. They came and saw where he dwelt, and abode with him that day: for it was about the tenth hour.
40 One of the two which heard John speak, and followed him, was Andrew, Simon Peter's brother.
41 He first findeth his own brother Simon, and saith unto him, We have found the Messias, which is, being interpreted, the Christ.
42 And he brought him to Jesus. And when Jesus beheld him, he said, Thou art Simon the son of Jona: thou shalt be called Cephas, which is by interpretation, A stone.
43 The day following Jesus would go forth into Galilee, and findeth Philip, and saith unto him, Follow me.
44 Now Philip was of Bethsaida, the city of Andrew and Peter.
45 Philip findeth Nathanael, and saith unto him, We have found him, of whom Moses in the law, and the prophets, did write, Jesus of Nazareth, the son of Joseph.
46 And Nathanael said unto him, Can there any good thing come out of Nazareth? Philip saith unto him, Come and see.
47 Jesus saw Nathanael coming to him, and saith of him, Behold an Israelite indeed, in whom is no guile!
48 Nathanael saith unto him, Whence knowest thou me? Jesus answered and said unto him, Before that Philip called thee, when thou wast under the fig tree, I saw thee.
49 Nathanael answered and saith unto him, Rabbi, thou art the Son of God; thou art the King of Israel.
50 Jesus answered and said unto him, Because I said unto thee, I saw thee under the fig tree, believest thou? thou shalt see greater things than these.
51 And he saith unto him, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Hereafter ye shall see heaven open, and the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of man.
