施洗约翰为真光作见证

1 太初有道，道与神同在，道就是神。 2 这道太初与神同在。 3 万物是借着他造的；凡被造的，没有一样不是借着他造的。 4 生命在他里头，这生命就是人的光。 5 光照在黑暗里，黑暗却不接受光。 6 有一个人，是从神那里差来的，名叫约翰。 7 这人来，为要作见证，就是为光作见证，叫众人因他可以信。 8 他不是那光，乃是要为光作见证。 9 那光是真光，照亮一切生在世上的人。 10 他在世界，世界也是借着他造的，世界却不认识他。 11 他到自己的地方来，自己的人倒不接待他。 12 凡接待他的，就是信他名的人，他就赐他们权柄做神的儿女。 13 这等人不是从血气生的，不是从情欲生的，也不是从人意生的，乃是从神生的。 14 道成了肉身，住在我们中间，充充满满地有恩典有真理。我们也见过他的荣光，正是父独生子的荣光。

恩典真理是由耶稣基督来的

15 约翰为他作见证，喊着说：“这就是我曾说，‘那在我以后来的，反成了在我以前的，因他本来在我以前。’” 16 从他丰满的恩典里，我们都领受了，而且恩上加恩。 17 律法本是借着摩西传的，恩典和真理都是由耶稣基督来的。 18 从来没有人看见神，只有在父怀里的独生子将他表明出来。

约翰证明自己不是基督

19 约翰所作的见证记在下面。犹太人从耶路撒冷差祭司和利未人到约翰那里，问他说：“你是谁？” 20 他就明说，并不隐瞒，明说：“我不是基督。” 21 他们又问他说：“这样，你是谁呢？是以利亚吗？”他说：“我不是。”“是那先知吗？”他回答说：“不是。” 22 于是他们说：“你到底是谁？叫我们好回复差我们来的人。你自己说你是谁？” 23 他说：“我就是那在旷野有人声喊着说：‘修直主的道路’，正如先知以赛亚所说的。” 24 那些人是法利赛人差来的。[a] 25 他们就问他说：“你既不是基督，不是以利亚，也不是那先知，为什么施洗呢？” 26 约翰回答说：“我是用水施洗，但有一位站在你们中间，是你们不认识的， 27 就是那在我以后来的，我给他解鞋带也不配。” 28 这是在约旦河外伯大尼[b]，约翰施洗的地方作的见证。

约翰的两个门徒跟从耶稣

35 再次日，约翰同两个门徒站在那里。 36 他见耶稣行走，就说：“看哪，这是神的羔羊！” 37 两个门徒听见他的话，就跟从了耶稣。 38 耶稣转过身来，看见他们跟着，就问他们说：“你们要什么？”他们说：“拉比，在哪里住？”（“拉比”翻出来就是“夫子”。） 39 耶稣说：“你们来看。”他们就去看他在哪里住，这一天便与他同住。那时约有申正了。 40 听见约翰的话跟从耶稣的那两个人，一个是西门彼得的兄弟安得烈。 41 他先找着自己的哥哥西门，对他说：“我们遇见弥赛亚了！”（“弥赛亚”翻出来就是“基督”。） 42 于是领他去见耶稣。耶稣看着他说：“你是约翰[d]的儿子西门，你要称为矶法。”（“矶法”翻出来就是“彼得”。）

召腓力拿但业为门徒

43 又次日，耶稣想要往加利利去，遇见腓力，就对他说：“来跟从我吧！” 44 这腓力是伯赛大人，和安得烈、彼得同城。 45 腓力找着拿但业，对他说：“摩西在律法上所写的和众先知所记的那一位，我们遇见了，就是约瑟的儿子拿撒勒人耶稣。” 46 拿但业对他说：“拿撒勒还能出什么好的吗？”腓力说：“你来看！” 47 耶稣看见拿但业来，就指着他说：“看哪，这是个真以色列人，他心里是没有诡诈的！” 48 拿但业对耶稣说：“你从哪里知道我呢？”耶稣回答说：“腓力还没有招呼你，你在无花果树底下，我就看见你了。”

拿但业认耶稣为神之子

49 拿但业说：“拉比，你是神的儿子，你是以色列的王！” 50 耶稣对他说：“因为我说在无花果树底下看见你，你就信吗？你将要看见比这更大的事！” 51 又说：“我实实在在地告诉你们：你们将要看见天开了，神的使者上去下来在人子身上。”

Ordet blev kött

1 I begynnelsen var Ordet[a], och Ordet var hos Gud, och Ordet var Gud. 2 Han var i begynnelsen hos Gud. 3 (A) Allt blev till genom honom, och utan honom blev ingenting till av det som är till. 4 (B) I honom var liv, och livet var människornas ljus. 5 (C) Och ljuset lyser i mörkret, och mörkret har inte övervunnit[b] det.

6 (D) Det kom en man, sänd av Gud. Hans namn var Johannes. 7 Han kom som ett vittne för att vittna om ljuset, för att alla skulle komma till tro genom honom. 8 Själv var han inte ljuset, men han kom för att vittna om ljuset.

9 (E) Det sanna ljuset, som ger ljus åt alla människor, skulle nu komma in i världen. 10 Han var i världen och världen hade blivit till genom honom, men världen kände honom inte. 11 Han kom till det som var hans eget, och hans egna tog inte emot honom. 12 (F) Men åt alla som tog emot honom gav han rätten att bli Guds barn, åt dem som tror på hans namn. 13 (G) De är inte födda av blod eller av köttets vilja eller av någon mans vilja, utan av Gud.

Johannes Döparens vittnesbörd

19 (M) Detta är Johannes vittnesbörd när judarna[g] sände präster och leviter från Jerusalem för att fråga honom vem han var. 20 (N) Han bekände och förnekade inte[h], han bekände: "Jag är inte Messias[i]." 21 De frågade honom: "Vem är du då? Är du Elia?" Han sade: "Nej, det är jag inte." – "Är du Profeten[j]?" Han svarade: "Nej."

22 Då sade de till honom: "Vem är du då? Vi måste ge ett svar till dem som har sänt oss. Vad säger du om dig själv?" 23 Han svarade med profeten Jesajas ord: "Jag är rösten som ropar i öknen: Gör vägen rak för Herren!"[k]

24 De som var utsända kom från fariseerna, 25 och de frågade honom: "Varför döper du då, om du varken är Messias eller Elia eller Profeten?" 26 (O) Johannes svarade dem: "Jag döper i vatten. Men mitt ibland er står en som ni inte känner. 27 Han kommer efter mig, och jag är inte värdig ens att lossa remmen på hans sandal[l]." 28 Detta hände i Betania på andra sidan Jordan[m] där Johannes döpte.

29 Nästa dag såg han Jesus komma, och han sade: "Se Guds Lamm[n] som tar bort[o] världens synd! 30 Det var om honom jag sade: Efter mig kommer en man som är före mig, för han var till före mig. 31 Jag kände honom inte[p], men för att han ska uppenbaras för Israel har jag kommit och döper i vatten."

32 (P) Johannes vittnade och sade: "Jag såg Anden komma ner som en duva från himlen och stanna över honom. 33 (Q) Jag kände honom inte, men han som sände mig att döpa i vatten sade till mig: Den du ser Anden komma ner och stanna över, han är den som döper i den helige Ande. 34 Jag har sett det och vittnat: han är Guds Son."

Jesu första lärjungar

35 Nästa dag stod Johannes där igen med två av sina lärjungar. 36 När han såg Jesus komma gående, sade han: "Se Guds Lamm!" 37 De båda lärjungarna hörde vad han sade och följde efter Jesus.

38 Jesus vände sig om och såg att de följde honom, och han frågade dem: "Vad söker ni?" De svarade: "Rabbi" – det betyder lärare – "var bor du?" 39 Han sade till dem: "Kom och se!" Då gick de med honom och såg var han bodde, och de stannade hos honom den dagen. Det var omkring tionde timmen[q].

40 Andreas, Simon Petrus bror, var en av de två[r] som hade hört vad Johannes sade och följt Jesus. 41 Han fann först sin bror Simon och sade till honom: "Vi har funnit Messias!" – det betyder Kristus, den Smorde. 42 Och han förde honom till Jesus. Jesus såg på honom och sade: "Du är Simon, Johannes son. Du ska heta Kefas[s]" – det betyder Petrus.

43 Nästa dag beslöt Jesus att gå därifrån till Galileen. Då fann han Filippus och sade till honom: "Följ mig!" 44 Filippus var från Betsaida, samma stad som Andreas och Petrus. 45 (R) Filippus fann Natanael[t] och sade till honom: "Vi har funnit honom som Mose skrev om i lagen och som profeterna skrev om – Jesus, Josefs son från Nasaret." 46 Natanael sade till honom: "Från Nasaret? Kan det komma något gott därifrån?" Filippus svarade: "Kom och se!"

47 Jesus såg Natanael komma och sade om honom: "Här är en sann israelit som är utan svek." 48 Natanael frågade honom: "Hur kan du känna mig?" Jesus svarade: "Innan Filippus kallade på dig såg jag dig under fikonträdet." 49 Natanael svarade: "Rabbi, du är Guds Son, du är Israels kung!" 50 Jesus svarade honom: "Du tror[u] för att jag sade att jag såg dig under fikonträdet. Större saker än så ska du få se." 51 (S) Sedan sade han till honom: "Jag säger er sanningen[v]: Ni ska få se himlen öppen och Guds änglar stiga upp och stiga ner över Människosonen."

The Witness of John the Baptist

Behold, the Lamb of God

35 (BC)On the next day, John again was standing [w]with two of his disciples, 36 and he looked at Jesus as He walked, and *said, “Behold, (BD)the Lamb of God!” 37 And the two disciples heard him speak and followed Jesus. 38 And when Jesus turned and noticed them following, He *said to them, “What do you seek?” They said to Him, “(BE)Rabbi (which translated means Teacher), where are You staying?” 39 He *said to them, “Come, and you will see.” So they came and saw where He was staying; and they stayed with Him that day. It was about the [x]tenth hour. 40 (BF)One of the two who heard John speak and followed Him, was Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother. 41 He first *found his own brother Simon and *said to him, “We have found the (BG)Messiah” (which translated means [y]Christ). 42 He brought him to Jesus. The Word Became Flesh

John the Baptist Denies Being the Messiah

19 Now this was John’s(AG) testimony when the Jewish leaders[c](AH) in Jerusalem sent priests and Levites to ask him who he was. 20 He did not fail to confess, but confessed freely, “I am not the Messiah.”(AI)

21 They asked him, “Then who are you? Are you Elijah?”(AJ)

He said, “I am not.”

“Are you the Prophet?”(AK)

He answered, “No.”

22 Finally they said, “Who are you? Give us an answer to take back to those who sent us. What do you say about yourself?”

23 John replied in the words of Isaiah the prophet, “I am the voice of one calling in the wilderness,(AL) ‘Make straight the way for the Lord.’”[d](AM)

24 Now the Pharisees who had been sent 25 questioned him, “Why then do you baptize if you are not the Messiah, nor Elijah, nor the Prophet?”

26 “I baptize with[e] water,”(AN) John replied, “but among you stands one you do not know. 27 He is the one who comes after me,(AO) the straps of whose sandals I am not worthy to untie.”(AP)

28 This all happened at Bethany on the other side of the Jordan,(AQ) where John was baptizing.

John Testifies About Jesus

29 The next day John saw Jesus coming toward him and said, “Look, the Lamb of God,(AR) who takes away the sin of the world!(AS) 30 This is the one I meant when I said, ‘A man who comes after me has surpassed me because he was before me.’(AT) 31 I myself did not know him, but the reason I came baptizing with water was that he might be revealed to Israel.”

32 Then John gave this testimony: “I saw the Spirit come down from heaven as a dove and remain on him.(AU) 33 And I myself did not know him, but the one who sent me to baptize with water(AV) told me, ‘The man on whom you see the Spirit come down and remain is the one who will baptize with the Holy Spirit.’(AW) 34 I have seen and I testify that this is God’s Chosen One.”[f](AX)

John’s Disciples Follow Jesus(AY)

35 The next day John(AZ) was there again with two of his disciples. 36 When he saw Jesus passing by, he said, “Look, the Lamb of God!”(BA)

37 When the two disciples heard him say this, they followed Jesus. 38 Turning around, Jesus saw them following and asked, “What do you want?”

They said, “Rabbi”(BB) (which means “Teacher”), “where are you staying?”

39 “Come,” he replied, “and you will see.”

So they went and saw where he was staying, and they spent that day with him. It was about four in the afternoon.

40 Andrew, Simon Peter’s brother, was one of the two who heard what John had said and who had followed Jesus. 41 The first thing Andrew did was to find his brother Simon and tell him, “We have found the Messiah” (that is, the Christ).(BC) 42 And he brought him to Jesus.

Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon son of John. You will be called(BD) Cephas” (which, when translated, is Peter[g]).(BE)

Jesus Calls Philip and Nathanael

43 The next day Jesus decided to leave for Galilee. Finding Philip,(BF) he said to him, “Follow me.”(BG)

44 Philip, like Andrew and Peter, was from the town of Bethsaida.(BH) 45 Philip found Nathanael(BI) and told him, “We have found the one Moses wrote about in the Law,(BJ) and about whom the prophets also wrote(BK)—Jesus of Nazareth,(BL) the son of Joseph.”(BM)

46 “Nazareth! Can anything good come from there?”(BN) Nathanael asked.

“Come and see,” said Philip.

47 When Jesus saw Nathanael approaching, he said of him, “Here truly is an Israelite(BO) in whom there is no deceit.”(BP)

48 “How do you know me?” Nathanael asked.

Jesus answered, “I saw you while you were still under the fig tree before Philip called you.”

49 Then Nathanael declared, “Rabbi,(BQ) you are the Son of God;(BR) you are the king of Israel.”(BS)

50 Jesus said, “You believe[h] because I told you I saw you under the fig tree. You will see greater things than that.” 51 He then added, “Very truly I tell you,[i] you[j] will see ‘heaven open,(BT) and the angels of God ascending and descending(BU) on’[k] the Son of Man.”(BV)
