而是要为这光做见证。
⁹这光是真光，
来到这世界照亮每个人。

世界也是藉着他而成的，
世界却不认识他。

⁸He himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light.

⁹The true light^(A) that gives light to everyone^(B) was coming into the world. ¹⁰He was in the world, and though the world was made through him,^(C) the world did not recognize him.
