上帝的孩子战胜世界
5 凡是相信耶稣是基督的人都是上帝的孩子，爱父的人也会爱父之子。 2 我们怎么知道我们爱上帝的儿女呢？我们知道是因为我们爱上帝，并执行上帝的命令。 3 爱上帝意味着遵从他的命令。上帝的命令对于我们并非难以承受。 4 因为每个成为上帝孩子的人都有战胜这个世界的力量。 5 是我们的信仰战胜了这个世界。那么，战胜这个世界的人是谁呢？只有相信耶稣是上帝之子的人，才能战胜这个世界。
上帝告诉过我们关于他的儿子
6 耶稣基督是凭借水和血而来的那位。他不只凭着水，而是凭着水和血 [a]而来的。圣灵是见证者，因为圣灵就是真理。 7 所以，有三位见证者∶ 8 圣灵，水和血。这三位见证是一致的。 9 我们既然接受由人所作的见证，那么我们就应该认识到上帝所作的见证更有价值。因为这是上帝的证言∶他为自己的儿子作了证。 10 信仰上帝之子的人，就有上帝告诉我们的真理；不相信上帝所说的人，就使上帝成了说谎者。因为他不相信上帝为他的儿子所作的证。 11 上帝告诉我们：上帝赐给了我们永生。这永生在他儿子（耶稣）之中。 12 有子的人，就有真正的生命；没有上帝之子的人，就没有那生命。
现在，我们有永恒的生命
13 我写信告诉你们这些信仰上帝之子的人，要你们知道，你们有永恒的生命。 14 我们可以毫无疑虑地来到上帝面前。这意味着，如果我们按照上帝的旨意向他请求时，他会垂听我们的。 15 既然我们知道上帝垂听我们的祈祷，也就知道，无论我们请求什么，他都会赐给我们的。
16 如果有人看见他的兄弟犯了不会导致死亡的罪，他就应该为犯罪的他祈祷。上帝就会把生命赐予他的兄弟。我现在谈论的是那些人，他们所犯的罪不会导致死亡。但是，有导致死亡的罪。我没有说你们应该为这类罪恶祈祷。 17 一切不义都是罪恶，但是却有不会导致死亡的罪。

Pananampalataya sa Anak ng Diyos
5 Ang sinumang sumampalataya na si Jesus ang Mesiyas, ang kaniyang kapanganakan ay mula sa Diyos. Ang sinumang umiibig sa kaniya na pinagmulan ng kapanganakan ay umiibig din naman sa kaniya na ipinanganak niya.
2 Sa pamamagitan nito ay nalalaman natin na iniibig natin ang mga anak ng Diyos kung iniibig natin ang Diyos at sinusunod ang kaniyang mga utos. 3 Ito ang pag-ibig ng Diyos: Tuparin natin ang kaniyang mga utos at ang kaniyang mga utos ay hindi mabigat. 4 Dahil ang sinuman na ang kapanganakan ay mulasa Diyos ay nagtatagumpay sa sanlibutan at ito ang pagtatagumpay na dumadaig sa sanlibutan, ang ating pananampalataya. 5 Sino ang nagtatagumpay sa sanlibutan? Hindi ba ang sumasampalataya na si Jesus ang Anak ng Diyos?
6 Siya itong naparito sa pamamagitan ng tubig at dugo, si Jesucristo. Hindi siya naparito sa pamamagitan ng tubig lamang kundi sa pamamagitan ng tubig at dugo. Ang nagpapatotoo ay ang Espiritu sapagkat ang Espiritu ay katotohanan. 7 May tatlong nagpapatotoo sa langit, ang Ama, ang Salita, ang Banal na Espiritu at ang tatlong ito ay iisa. 8 May tatlong nagpapatotoo sa lupa, ang Espiritu, ang tubig at ang dugo. Ang tatlong ito ay nagkakaisa. 9 Yamang tinatanggap natin ang patotoo ng mga tao, higit na dakila ang patotoo ng Diyos sapagkat ito ang patotoo ng Diyos na pinapatunayan niya patungkol sa kaniyang Anak. 10 Ang sumasampalataya sa Anak ng Diyos ay nagtataglay ng patotoo sa kaniyang sarili. Ang hindi sumasampalataya sa Diyos, siya ang nagsasabi na ang Diyos ay sinungaling sapagkat hindi niya sinampalatayanan ang patotoo na pinatotohanan ng Diyos patungkol sa kaniyang Anak. 11 At ito ang patotoo: Binigyan tayo ng Diyos ng buhay na walang hanggan at ang buhay na ito ay nasa kaniyang Anak. 12 Ang kinaroroonan ng Anak ay kinaroroonan ng buhay. Siya na hindi kinaroroonan ng Anak ng Diyos ay hindi kinaroroonan ng buhay.

Faith in the Incarnate Son of God
5 Everyone who believes(A) that Jesus is the Christ(B) is born of God,(C) and everyone who loves the father loves his child as well.(D) 2 This is how we know(E) that we love the children of God:(F) by loving God and carrying out his commands. 3 In fact, this is love for God: to keep his commands.(G) And his commands are not burdensome,(H) 4 for everyone born of God(I) overcomes(J) the world. This is the victory that has overcome the world, even our faith. 5 Who is it that overcomes the world? Only the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God.(K)
6 This is the one who came by water and blood(L)—Jesus Christ. He did not come by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit who testifies, because the Spirit is the truth.(M) 7 For there are three(N) that testify: 8 the[a] Spirit, the water and the blood; and the three are in agreement. 9 We accept human testimony,(O) but God’s testimony is greater because it is the testimony of God,(P) which he has given about his Son. 10 Whoever believes in the Son of God accepts this testimony.(Q) Whoever does not believe God has made him out to be a liar,(R) because they have not believed the testimony God has given about his Son. 11 And this is the testimony: God has given us eternal life,(S) and this life is in his Son.(T) 12 Whoever has the Son has life; whoever does not have the Son of God does not have life.(U)
Concluding Affirmations
13 I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God(V) so that you may know that you have eternal life.(W) 14 This is the confidence(X) we have in approaching God: that if we ask anything according to his will, he hears us.(Y) 15 And if we know that he hears us—whatever we ask—we know(Z) that we have what we asked of him.(AA)
16 If you see any brother or sister commit a sin that does not lead to death, you should pray and God will give them life.(AB) I refer to those whose sin does not lead to death. There is a sin that leads to death.(AC) I am not saying that you should pray about that.(AD) 17 All wrongdoing is sin,(AE) and there is sin that does not lead to death.(AF)
18 We know that anyone born of God(AG) does not continue to sin; the One who was born of God keeps them safe, and the evil one(AH) cannot harm them.(AI) 19 We know that we are children of God,(AJ) and that the whole world is under the control of the evil one.(AK) 20 We know also that the Son of God has come(AL) and has given us understanding,(AM) so that we may know him who is true.(AN) And we are in him who is true by being in his Son Jesus Christ. He is the true God and eternal life.(AO)

5 Whosoever believeth that Jesus is the Christ is born of God: and every one that loveth him that begat loveth him also that is begotten of him.
2 By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.
3 For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.
4 For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith.
5 Who is he that overcometh the world, but he that believeth that Jesus is the Son of God?
6 This is he that came by water and blood, even Jesus Christ; not by water only, but by water and blood. And it is the Spirit that beareth witness, because the Spirit is truth.
7 For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.
8 And there are three that bear witness in earth, the Spirit, and the water, and the blood: and these three agree in one.
9 If we receive the witness of men, the witness of God is greater: for this is the witness of God which he hath testified of his Son.
10 He that believeth on the Son of God hath the witness in himself: he that believeth not God hath made him a liar; because he believeth not the record that God gave of his Son.
11 And this is the record, that God hath given to us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.
12 He that hath the Son hath life; and he that hath not the Son of God hath not life.
13 These things have I written unto you that believe on the name of the Son of God; that ye may know that ye have eternal life, and that ye may believe on the name of the Son of God.
14 And this is the confidence that we have in him, that, if we ask any thing according to his will, he heareth us:
15 And if we know that he hear us, whatsoever we ask, we know that we have the petitions that we desired of him.
16 If any man see his brother sin a sin which is not unto death, he shall ask, and he shall give him life for them that sin not unto death. There is a sin unto death: I do not say that he shall pray for it.
17 All unrighteousness is sin: and there is a sin not unto death.
18 We know that whosoever is born of God sinneth not; but he that is begotten of God keepeth himself, and that wicked one toucheth him not.
19 And we know that we are of God, and the whole world lieth in wickedness.
20 And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding, that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true, even in his Son Jesus Christ. This is the true God, and eternal life.
21 Little children, keep yourselves from idols. Amen.
