怎样认出 神的灵
4 亲爱的，不要每个灵都信，总要试验那些灵是否出于 神，因为有许多假先知已经来到世上了。 2 你们可以这样认出 神的灵：凡是承认耶稣基督是成了肉身来的，那灵就是出于 神。 3 凡是不承认耶稣基督是成了肉身来的，那灵就不是出于 神，而是敌基督者的灵；你们听过他要来，现在他已经在世上了。 4 孩子们，你们是属于 神的，并且已经胜过他们，因为那在你们里面的比那在世上的更大。 5 他们是属于世界的，因此讲论属世的事，世界也就听从他们。 6 我们是属于 神的，认识 神的就听从我们，不属于 神的就不听从我们。这样，我们就可以辨别真理的灵和谬妄的灵了。
神是爱
7 亲爱的，我们应当彼此相爱，因为爱是从 神那里来的。凡是爱人的，都是从 神生的，并且认识 神。 8 不爱人的，就不认识 神，因为 神就是爱。 9 神差遣他的独生子到世上来，要使我们借着他而活； 神的爱就在我们中间显明了。 10 不是我们爱 神，而是 神爱我们，差遣他的儿子为我们的罪作了赎罪祭，这就是爱了。 11 亲爱的， 神既然这样爱我们，我们也应当彼此相爱。 12 从来没有人见过 神，我们若彼此相爱， 神就住在我们里面，他的爱也在我们里面得到成全了。

4 Queridos hermanos, no crean a cualquier espíritu, sino sométanlo a prueba para ver si es de Dios, porque han salido por el mundo muchos falsos profetas. 2 En esto pueden discernir quién tiene el Espíritu de Dios: todo el que confiese que Jesucristo ha venido en cuerpo humano es de Dios; 3 todo espíritu que no confiesa a Jesús no es de Dios, sino del anticristo. Ustedes han oído que este viene y, efectivamente, ya está en el mundo.
4 Ustedes, queridos hijos, son de Dios y han vencido a esos falsos profetas, porque el que está en ustedes es más poderoso que el que está en el mundo. 5 Ellos son del mundo; por eso hablan desde el punto de vista del mundo y el mundo los escucha. 6 Nosotros somos de Dios y todo el que conoce a Dios nos escucha; pero el que no es de Dios no nos escucha. Así distinguimos entre el Espíritu de la verdad y el espíritu del engaño.
Permanezcamos en el amor
7 Queridos hermanos, amémonos los unos a los otros, porque el amor viene de Dios y todo el que ama ha nacido de él y lo conoce. 8 El que no ama no conoce a Dios, porque Dios es amor. 9 Así manifestó Dios su amor entre nosotros: en que envió a su Hijo único al mundo para que vivamos por medio de él. 10 En esto consiste el amor: no en que nosotros hayamos amado a Dios, sino en que él nos amó y envió a su Hijo para que fuera ofrecido como sacrificio por el perdón de nuestros pecados. 11 Queridos hermanos, ya que Dios nos ha amado así, también nosotros debemos amarnos los unos a los otros. 12 Nadie ha visto jamás a Dios, pero si nos amamos los unos a los otros, Dios permanece entre nosotros y entre[a] nosotros su amor se ha manifestado plenamente.[b]
13 De esta forma sabemos que permanecemos en él y que él permanece en nosotros: porque nos ha dado de su Espíritu. 14 Y nosotros hemos visto y damos testimonio que el Padre envió a su Hijo para ser el Salvador del mundo. 15 Si alguien confiesa públicamente que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios, Dios permanece en él y él en Dios. 16 Y nosotros hemos llegado a saber y creer que Dios nos ama.
Dios es amor. El que permanece en amor, en Dios permanece y Dios en él. 17 Ese amor se manifiesta plenamente[c] entre nosotros para que en el día del juicio comparezcamos con toda confianza, porque en este mundo somos como Jesús. 18 En el amor no hay temor, sino que el amor perfecto echa fuera el temor. El que teme espera el castigo, así que no ha sido perfeccionado en el amor.
19 Nosotros amamos[d] porque él nos amó primero. 20 Si alguien afirma: «Yo amo a Dios», pero odia a su hermano, es un mentiroso; pues el que no ama a su hermano, a quien ha visto, no puede amar a Dios, a quien no ha visto. 21 Y él nos ha dado este mandamiento: el que ama a Dios, ame también a su hermano.

4 Queridos hermanos, no crean ustedes a todos los que dicen estar inspirados por Dios, sino pónganlos a prueba, a ver si el espíritu que hay en ellos es de Dios o no. Porque el mundo está lleno de falsos profetas. 2 De esta manera pueden ustedes saber quién tiene el Espíritu de Dios: todo el que reconoce que Jesucristo vino como hombre verdadero, tiene el Espíritu de Dios. 3 El que no reconoce así a Jesús, no tiene el Espíritu de Dios; al contrario, tiene el espíritu del Anticristo. Ustedes han oído que ese espíritu ha de venir; pues bien, ya está en el mundo.
4 Hijitos, ustedes son de Dios y han vencido a esos mentirosos, porque el que está en ustedes es más poderoso que el que está en el mundo. 5 Ellos son del mundo; por eso hablan de las cosas del mundo, y los que son del mundo los escuchan. 6 En cambio, nosotros somos de Dios. El que conoce a Dios nos escucha, pero el que no es de Dios no nos escucha. En esto, pues, podemos conocer quién tiene el espíritu de la verdad y quién tiene el espíritu del engaño.
1. El amor, señal de nuestra comunión con Dios
7 Queridos hermanos, debemos amarnos unos a otros, porque el amor viene de Dios. Todo el que ama es hijo de Dios y conoce a Dios. 8 El que no ama no ha conocido a Dios, porque Dios es amor. 9 Dios mostró su amor hacia nosotros al enviar a su Hijo único al mundo para que tengamos vida por él. 10 El amor consiste en esto: no en que nosotros hayamos amado a Dios, sino en que él nos amó a nosotros y envió a su Hijo, para que, ofreciéndose en sacrificio, nuestros pecados quedaran perdonados.
11 Queridos hermanos, si Dios nos ha amado así, nosotros también debemos amarnos unos a otros. 12 A Dios nunca lo ha visto nadie; pero si nos amamos unos a otros, Dios vive en nosotros y su amor se hace realidad en nosotros. 13 La prueba de que nosotros vivimos en Dios y de que él vive en nosotros, es que nos ha dado su Espíritu. 14 Y nosotros mismos hemos visto y declaramos que el Padre envió a su Hijo para salvar al mundo. 15 Cualquiera que reconoce que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios, vive en Dios y Dios en él.
16 Así hemos llegado a saber y creer que Dios nos ama. Dios es amor, y el que vive en el amor, vive en Dios y Dios en él. 17 De esta manera se hace realidad el amor en nosotros, para que en el día del juicio tengamos confianza; porque nosotros somos en este mundo tal como es Jesucristo. 18 Donde hay amor no hay miedo. Al contrario, el amor perfecto echa fuera el miedo, pues el miedo supone el castigo. Por eso, si alguien tiene miedo, es que no ha llegado a amar perfectamente.
19 Nosotros amamos porque él nos amó primero. 20 Si alguno dice: «Yo amo a Dios», y al mismo tiempo odia a su hermano, es un mentiroso. Pues si uno no ama a su hermano, a quien ve, tampoco puede amar a Dios, a quien no ve. 21 Jesucristo nos ha dado este mandamiento: que el que ama a Dios, ame también a su hermano.

Test People Who Say They Have God’s Spirit
4 Dear friends, don’t believe all people who say that they have the Spirit. Instead, test them. See whether the spirit they have is from God, because there are many false prophets in the world. 2 This is how you can recognize God’s Spirit: Every person who declares that Jesus Christ has come as a human has the Spirit that is from God. 3 But every person who doesn’t declare that Jesus Christ has come as a human has a spirit that isn’t from God. This is the spirit of the antichrist that you have heard is coming. That spirit is already in the world.
4 Dear children, you belong to God. So you have won the victory over these people, because the one who is in you is greater than the one who is in the world. 5 These people belong to the world. That’s why they speak the thoughts of the world, and the world listens to them. 6 We belong to God. The person who knows God listens to us. Whoever doesn’t belong to God doesn’t listen to us. That’s how we can tell the Spirit of truth from the spirit of lies.
God’s Love Lives in His People
7 Dear friends, we must love each other because love comes from God. Everyone who loves has been born from God and knows God. 8 The person who doesn’t love doesn’t know God, because God is love. 9 God has shown us his love by sending his only Son into the world so that we could have life through him. 10 This is love: not that we have loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son to be the payment for our sins. 11 Dear friends, if this is the way God loved us, we must also love each other. 12 No one has ever seen God. If we love each other, God lives in us, and his love is perfected in us. 13 We know that we live in him and he lives in us because he has given us his Spirit.
14 We have seen and testify to the fact that the Father sent his Son as the Savior of the world. 15 God lives in those who declare that Jesus is the Son of God, and they live in God. 16 We have known and believed that God loves us. God is love. Those who live in God’s love live in God, and God lives in them.
17 God’s love has reached its goal in us. So we look ahead with confidence to the day of judgment. While we are in this world, we are exactly like him ⌞with regard to love⌟. 18 No fear exists where his love is. Rather, perfect love gets rid of fear, because fear involves punishment. The person who lives in fear doesn’t have perfect love.
19 We love because God loved us first. 20 Whoever says, “I love God,” but hates another believer is a liar. People who don’t love other believers, whom they have seen, can’t love God, whom they have not seen. 21 Christ has given us this commandment: The person who loves God must also love other believers.

Don’t Believe Everything You Hear
4 My dear friends, don’t believe everything you hear. Carefully weigh and examine what people tell you. Not everyone who talks about God comes from God. There are a lot of lying preachers loose in the world.
2-3 Here’s how you test for the genuine Spirit of God. Everyone who confesses openly his faith in Jesus Christ—the Son of God, who came as an actual flesh-and-blood person—comes from God and belongs to God. And everyone who refuses to confess faith in Jesus has nothing in common with God. This is the spirit of antichrist that you heard was coming. Well, here it is, sooner than we thought!
4-6 My dear children, you come from God and belong to God. You have already won a big victory over those false teachers, for the Spirit in you is far stronger than anything in the world. These people belong to the Christ-denying world. They talk the world’s language and the world eats it up. But we come from God and belong to God. Anyone who knows God understands us and listens. The person who has nothing to do with God will, of course, not listen to us. This is another test for telling the Spirit of Truth from the spirit of deception.
God Is Love
7-10 My beloved friends, let us continue to love each other since love comes from God. Everyone who loves is born of God and experiences a relationship with God. The person who refuses to love doesn’t know the first thing about God, because God is love—so you can’t know him if you don’t love. This is how God showed his love for us: God sent his only Son into the world so we might live through him. This is the kind of love we are talking about—not that we once upon a time loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to clear away our sins and the damage they’ve done to our relationship with God.
11-12 My dear, dear friends, if God loved us like this, we certainly ought to love each other. No one has seen God, ever. But if we love one another, God dwells deeply within us, and his love becomes complete in us—perfect love!
13-16 This is how we know we’re living steadily and deeply in him, and he in us: He’s given us life from his life, from his very own Spirit. Also, we’ve seen for ourselves and continue to state openly that the Father sent his Son as Savior of the world. Everyone who confesses that Jesus is God’s Son participates continuously in an intimate relationship with God. We know it so well, we’ve embraced it heart and soul, this love that comes from God.
To Love, to Be Loved
17-18 God is love. When we take up permanent residence in a life of love, we live in God and God lives in us. This way, love has the run of the house, becomes at home and mature in us, so that we’re free of worry on Judgment Day—our standing in the world is identical with Christ’s. There is no room in love for fear. Well-formed love banishes fear. Since fear is crippling, a fearful life—fear of death, fear of judgment—is one not yet fully formed in love.
19 We, though, are going to love—love and be loved. First we were loved, now we love. He loved us first.
20-21 If anyone boasts, “I love God,” and goes right on hating his brother or sister, thinking nothing of it, he is a liar. If he won’t love the person he can see, how can he love the God he can’t see? The command we have from Christ is blunt: Loving God includes loving people. You’ve got to love both.
