7 “人在世上岂无争战吗？他的日子不像雇工人的日子吗？ 2 像奴仆切慕黑影，像雇工人盼望工价， 3 我也照样经过困苦的日月，夜间的疲乏为我而定。 4 我躺卧的时候便说：‘我何时起来，黑夜就过去呢？’我尽是翻来覆去，直到天亮。 5 我的肉体以虫子和尘土为衣，我的皮肤才收了口又重新破裂。 6 我的日子比梭更快，都消耗在无指望之中。 7 求你想念我的生命不过是一口气！我的眼睛必不再见福乐。 8 观看我的人，他的眼必不再见我；你的眼目要看我，我却不在了。 9 云彩消散而过，照样，人下阴间也不再上来。 10 他不再回自己的家，故土也不再认识他。

11 “我不禁止我口，我灵愁苦要发出言语，我心苦恼要吐露哀情。 12 我对神说：我岂是洋海，岂是大鱼，你竟防守我呢？ 13 若说我的床必安慰我，我的榻必解释我的苦情， 14 你就用梦惊骇我，用异象恐吓我。 15 甚至我宁肯噎死，宁肯死亡，胜似留我这一身的骨头。 16 我厌弃性命，不愿永活。你任凭我吧！因我的日子都是虚空。 17 人算什么，你竟看他为大，将他放在心上， 18 每早鉴察他，时刻试验他？ 19 你到何时才转眼不看我，才任凭我咽下唾沫呢？ 20 鉴察人的主啊，我若有罪，于你何妨？为何以我当你的箭靶子，使我厌弃自己的性命？ 21 为何不赦免我的过犯，除掉我的罪孽？我现今要躺卧在尘土中，你要殷勤地寻找我，我却不在了。”

Job Continues: My Life Has No Hope
7 “Has not man (A)a hard service on earth,
and are not his (B)days like the days of a hired hand?
2 Like a slave who longs for (C)the shadow,
and like (D)a hired hand who looks for his (E)wages,
3 so I am allotted months of (F)emptiness,
(G)and nights of misery are apportioned to me.
4 (H)When I lie down I say, ‘When shall I arise?’
But the night is long,
and I toss and turn till the dawn.
5 My flesh is clothed with (I)worms and (J)dirt;
my skin hardens, then (K)breaks out afresh.
6 My days are (L)swifter than (M)a weaver's shuttle
and come to their end without hope.
7 “Remember that my life is a (N)breath;
my eye will never again see good.
8 (O)The eye of him who sees me will behold me no more;
while your eyes are on me, (P)I shall be gone.
9 As (Q)the cloud fades and vanishes,
so he who (R)goes down to Sheol does not come up;
10 he (S)returns no more to his house,
nor does his (T)place know him anymore.
11 “Therefore I will not (U)restrain my mouth;
I will speak in the anguish of my spirit;
I will (V)complain in (W)the bitterness of my soul.
12 Am I the sea, or (X)a sea monster,
that you set a guard over me?
13 (Y)When I say, ‘My bed will comfort me,
my couch will ease my complaint,’
14 then you scare me with dreams
and terrify me with visions,
15 so that I would choose strangling
and death rather than my (Z)bones.
16 I (AA)loathe my life; I would not live forever.
(AB)Leave me alone, for my days are (AC)a breath.
17 (AD)What is man, that you make so much of him,
and that you set your heart on him,
18 (AE)visit him every morning
and (AF)test him every moment?
19 How long will you not (AG)look away from me,
nor leave me alone till I swallow my spit?
20 If I sin, what do I do to you, you watcher of mankind?
Why have you made me (AH)your mark?
Why have I become a burden to you?
21 Why do you not pardon my transgression
and take away my iniquity?
