约伯自诅其诞辰
3 此后，约伯开口咒诅自己的生日， 2 说： 3 “愿我生的那日和说怀了男胎的那夜都灭没。 4 愿那日变为黑暗，愿神不从上面寻找它，愿亮光不照于其上。 5 愿黑暗和死荫索取那日，愿密云停在其上，愿日食恐吓它。 6 愿那夜被幽暗夺取，不在年中的日子同乐，也不入月中的数目。 7 愿那夜没有生育，其间也没有欢乐的声音。 8 愿那咒诅日子且能惹动鳄鱼的，咒诅那夜。 9 愿那夜黎明的星宿变为黑暗，盼亮却不亮，也不见早晨的光线[a]。 10 因没有把怀我胎的门关闭，也没有将患难对我的眼隐藏。 11 我为何不出母胎而死？为何不出母腹绝气？ 12 为何有膝接收我？为何有奶哺养我？ 13 不然，我就早已躺卧安睡， 14 和地上为自己重造荒丘的君王、谋士， 15 或与有金子、将银子装满了房屋的王子一同安息； 16 或像隐而未现、不到期而落的胎，归于无有，如同未见光的婴孩。 17 在那里，恶人止息搅扰，困乏人得享安息； 18 被囚的人同得安逸，不听见督工的声音。 19 大小都在那里，奴仆脱离主人的辖制。
自言死为美
20 “受患难的人，为何有光赐给他呢？心中愁苦的人，为何有生命赐给他呢？ 21 他们切望死却不得死，求死胜于求隐藏的珍宝。 22 他们寻见坟墓就快乐，极其欢喜。 23 人的道路既然遮隐，神又把他四面围困，为何有光赐给他呢？ 24 我未曾吃饭就发出叹息，我唉哼的声音涌出如水。 25 因我所恐惧的临到我身，我所惧怕的迎我而来。 26 我不得安逸，不得平静，也不得安息，却有患难来到。”

3 Oluvannyuma lw’ebyo, Yobu n’ayasamya akamwa ke n’akolimira olunaku kwe yazaalirwa. 2 N’agamba nti,
3 (A)“Olunaku kwe nazaalirwa luzikirire,
n’ekiro lwe kyalangirirwa nti omwana mulenzi.
4 Olunaku olwo lubuutikirwe ekizikiza,
omusana guleme okulwakako,
Katonda aleme okulufaako.
5 (B)Ekizikiza n’ekisiikirize eky’okufa birujjule,
ekire kirutuuleko,
ekizikiza kikankanye ekitangaala kyalwo.
6 (C)Ekizikiza ekikutte be zigizigi kirunyage,
luleme okubalirwa awamu n’ennaku eziri mu mwaka,
wadde okuyingizibwa mu ezo eziri mu mwezi.
7 Yee, lubeere lugumba,
waleme okuba eddoboozi lyonna ery’essanyu eririwulirwako.
8 (D)Abo abakolimira ennyanja n’ennaku balukolimire,
n’abo abamanyi okuzuukusa agasolo galukwata mu nnyanja, balukolimire.
9 (E)Emmunyeenye ez’omu matulutulu gaalwo zibe ekizikiza,
lulindirire ekitangaala kirubulwe,
luleme okulaba ebikowe by’oku nkya.
10 Kubanga terwaggala nzigi za lubuto lwa mmange,
nneme okulaba obuyinike.
11 (F)“Lwaki saafa nga nzalibwa,
oba ne nfa nga nva mu lubuto lwa mmange?
12 (G)Lwaki amaviivi ganzikiriza okugatuulako
era n’amabeere okugayonka?
13 (H)Kaakano nandibadde ngalamidde nga neesirikidde,
nandibadde neebase nga neewummulidde,
14 (I)wamu ne bakabaka n’abakungu ab’ensi,
abezimbira embiri kaakano amatongo,
15 (J)oba n’abalangira abaalina zaabu,
abajjuzanga ffeeza mu nnyumba zaabwe.
16 (K)Oba lwaki saaziikibwa ng’omwana azaaliddwa ng’afudde,
atalabye ku kitangaala?
17 (L)Eyo ababi gye batatawaanyizibwa,
era n’abakooye gye bawummulira.
18 (M)Abasibe gye bawummulira awamu,
gye batawulirira kiragiro ky’oyo abaduumira.
19 Abakopi n’abakungu gye babeera;
abaddu gye batatuntuzibwa bakama baabwe.
20 (N)“Lwaki omuyinike aweebwa ekitangaala,
ne kimulisiza oyo alumwa mu mwoyo,
21 (O)era lwaki yeegomba okufa naye ne kutajja,
n’akunoonya okusinga obugagga obuziikiddwa,
22 abajaguza ekisukkiridde,
ne basanyuka ng’atuuse ku ntaana?
23 (P)Lwaki okuwa ekitangaala oyo,
atayinza kulaba kkubo,
Katonda gw’akomedde?
24 (Q)Kubanga nkaaba mu kifo ky’okulya,
n’okusinda kwange kufukumuka ng’amazzi.
25 (R)Ekintu kye nantiiranga ddala
era kye nakyawa kye kyantukako.
26 (S)Siwummudde wadde okusiriikirira wadde okuba n’emirembe,
wabula buzibu bwereere bwe bunzijidde.”

3 After this, Job opened his mouth and cursed the day of his birth.(A) 2 He said:
3 “May the day of my birth perish,
and the night that said, ‘A boy is conceived!’(B)
4 That day—may it turn to darkness;
may God above not care about it;
may no light shine on it.
5 May gloom and utter darkness(C) claim it once more;
may a cloud settle over it;
may blackness overwhelm it.
6 That night—may thick darkness(D) seize it;
may it not be included among the days of the year
nor be entered in any of the months.
7 May that night be barren;
may no shout of joy(E) be heard in it.
8 May those who curse days[a] curse that day,(F)
those who are ready to rouse Leviathan.(G)
9 May its morning stars become dark;
may it wait for daylight in vain
and not see the first rays of dawn,(H)
10 for it did not shut the doors of the womb on me
to hide trouble from my eyes.
11 “Why did I not perish at birth,
and die as I came from the womb?(I)
12 Why were there knees to receive me(J)
and breasts that I might be nursed?
13 For now I would be lying down(K) in peace;
I would be asleep and at rest(L)
14 with kings and rulers of the earth,(M)
who built for themselves places now lying in ruins,(N)
15 with princes(O) who had gold,
who filled their houses with silver.(P)
16 Or why was I not hidden away in the ground like a stillborn child,(Q)
like an infant who never saw the light of day?(R)
17 There the wicked cease from turmoil,(S)
and there the weary are at rest.(T)
18 Captives(U) also enjoy their ease;
they no longer hear the slave driver’s(V) shout.(W)
19 The small and the great are there,(X)
and the slaves are freed from their owners.
20 “Why is light given to those in misery,
and life to the bitter of soul,(Y)
21 to those who long for death that does not come,(Z)
who search for it more than for hidden treasure,(AA)
22 who are filled with gladness
and rejoice when they reach the grave?(AB)
23 Why is life given to a man
whose way is hidden,(AC)
whom God has hedged in?(AD)
24 For sighing(AE) has become my daily food;(AF)
my groans(AG) pour out like water.(AH)
25 What I feared has come upon me;
what I dreaded(AI) has happened to me.(AJ)
26 I have no peace,(AK) no quietness;
I have no rest,(AL) but only turmoil.”(AM)
