10 “我厌恶自己的生命，
我要倾诉我的哀怨，
吐露心中的苦水。
2 我对上帝说，‘不要定我的罪。
请告诉我，你为何指控我？
3 难道你喜悦压迫、鄙视你造的人，
却青睐恶人的计谋？
4 难道你的眼是肉眼，
目光如凡人般短浅？
5 难道你的年日有限，
岁月如世人般短暂？
6 以致你探查我的过犯，
追究我的罪愆？
7 其实你知道我没有犯罪，
无人能从你手中解救我。
8 “‘你亲手造我塑我，
现在却要毁灭我。
9 别忘了你用泥土造我[a]，
难道要使我复归尘土？
10 你将我像奶一样倒出，
使我像奶酪一样凝固。[b]
11 你给我穿上皮肉，
用筋骨把我编就。
12 你赐我生命给我慈爱，
你的眷顾使我保全性命。
13 “‘但你心中藏着计划，
我知道你早有此意，
14 我若犯罪，你就鉴察，
不肯赦免我的罪。
15 我若有罪，便遭祸患；
即使清白，也不敢抬头，
因为我饱尝羞辱，吃尽苦头。
16 我若昂首挺立，
你会像狮子般追捕我，
再次施展大能攻击我。
17 你一再派证人指控我，
你对我越来越愤怒，
使军队轮流攻击我。
18 你为何让我出母腹？
我不如当时就死去，
无人会看见我——
19 好像我从未出生，
一出母腹就被送进坟墓。
20 我的年日不多，
求你放过我，
让我欢乐片刻。
21 我很快就一去不返，
进入幽冥黑暗之地。
22 那里一片漆黑，幽暗混乱；
那里的光昏暗不明。’”

10 Stanco io sono della mia vita!
Darò libero sfogo al mio lamento,
parlerò nell'amarezza del mio cuore.
2 Dirò a Dio: Non condannarmi!
Fammi sapere perché mi sei avversario.
3 E' forse bene per te opprimermi,
disprezzare l'opera delle tue mani
e favorire i progetti dei malvagi?
4 Hai tu forse occhi di carne
o anche tu vedi come l'uomo?
5 Sono forse i tuoi giorni come i giorni di un uomo,
i tuoi anni come i giorni di un mortale,
6 perché tu debba scrutare la mia colpa
e frugare il mio peccato,
7 pur sapendo ch'io non sono colpevole
e che nessuno mi può liberare dalla tua mano?
8 Le tue mani mi hanno plasmato e mi hanno fatto
integro in ogni parte; vorresti ora distruggermi?
9 Ricordati che come argilla mi hai plasmato
e in polvere mi farai tornare.
10 Non m'hai colato forse come latte
e fatto accagliare come cacio?
11 Di pelle e di carne mi hai rivestito,
d'ossa e di nervi mi hai intessuto.
12 Vita e benevolenza tu mi hai concesso
e la tua premura ha custodito il mio spirito.
13 Eppure, questo nascondevi nel cuore,
so che questo avevi nel pensiero!
14 Tu mi sorvegli, se pecco,
e non mi lasci impunito per la mia colpa.
15 Se sono colpevole, guai a me!
Se giusto, non oso sollevare la testa,
sazio d'ignominia, come sono, ed ebbro di miseria.
16 Se la sollevo, tu come un leopardo mi dai la
caccia
e torni a compiere prodigi contro di me,
17 su di me rinnovi i tuoi attacchi,
contro di me aumenti la tua ira
e truppe sempre fresche mi assalgono.
18 Perché tu mi hai tratto dal seno materno?
Fossi morto e nessun occhio m'avesse mai visto!
19 Sarei come se non fossi mai esistito;
dal ventre sarei stato portato alla tomba!
20 E non son poca cosa i giorni della mia vita?
Lasciami, sì ch'io possa respirare un poco
21 prima che me ne vada, senza ritornare,
verso la terra delle tenebre e dell'ombra di morte,
22 terra di caligine e di disordine,
dove la luce è come le tenebre.

10 “I loathe my very life;(A)
therefore I will give free rein to my complaint
and speak out in the bitterness of my soul.(B)
2 I say to God:(C) Do not declare me guilty,
but tell me what charges(D) you have against me.(E)
3 Does it please you to oppress me,(F)
to spurn the work of your hands,(G)
while you smile on the plans of the wicked?(H)
4 Do you have eyes of flesh?
Do you see as a mortal sees?(I)
5 Are your days like those of a mortal
or your years like those of a strong man,(J)
6 that you must search out my faults
and probe after my sin(K)—
7 though you know that I am not guilty(L)
and that no one can rescue me from your hand?(M)
8 “Your hands shaped(N) me and made me.
Will you now turn and destroy me?(O)
9 Remember that you molded me like clay.(P)
Will you now turn me to dust again?(Q)
10 Did you not pour me out like milk
and curdle me like cheese,
11 clothe me with skin and flesh
and knit me together(R) with bones and sinews?
12 You gave me life(S) and showed me kindness,(T)
and in your providence(U) watched over(V) my spirit.
13 “But this is what you concealed in your heart,
and I know that this was in your mind:(W)
14 If I sinned, you would be watching me(X)
and would not let my offense go unpunished.(Y)
15 If I am guilty(Z)—woe to me!(AA)
Even if I am innocent, I cannot lift my head,(AB)
for I am full of shame
and drowned in[a] my affliction.(AC)
16 If I hold my head high, you stalk me like a lion(AD)
and again display your awesome power against me.(AE)
17 You bring new witnesses against me(AF)
and increase your anger toward me;(AG)
your forces come against me wave upon wave.(AH)
18 “Why then did you bring me out of the womb?(AI)
I wish I had died before any eye saw me.(AJ)
19 If only I had never come into being,
or had been carried straight from the womb to the grave!(AK)
20 Are not my few days(AL) almost over?(AM)
Turn away from me(AN) so I can have a moment’s joy(AO)
21 before I go to the place of no return,(AP)
to the land of gloom and utter darkness,(AQ)
22 to the land of deepest night,
of utter darkness(AR) and disorder,
where even the light is like darkness.”(AS)
