2 那時，約書亞從耶利哥派人到伯特利東邊，靠近伯．亞文的艾城去，吩咐他們說：“你們上去窺探那地。”那些人就上去，窺探艾城。 3 他們回來，對約書亞說：“不需要全體人民都上去；只要大約二三千人就可以上去攻打艾城了；不必勞動全體人民都上那裡去，因為那裡的人很少。” 4 於是人民中約有三千人上那裡去，但他們竟在艾城的人面前逃跑了。

2 Now Joshua sent men from Jericho to Ai,(A) which is near Beth Aven(B) to the east of Bethel,(C) and told them, “Go up and spy out(D) the region.” So the men went up and spied out Ai.
3 When they returned to Joshua, they said, “Not all the army will have to go up against Ai. Send two or three thousand men to take it and do not weary the whole army, for only a few people live there.” 4 So about three thousand went up; but they were routed by the men of Ai,(E)
