17 玛拿西是约瑟的长子，他的支派拈阄所得之地记在下面。至于玛拿西的长子基列之父[a]玛吉，因为是勇士，就得了基列和巴珊。 2 玛拿西其余的子孙，按着宗族拈阄分地，就是亚比以谢子孙、希勒子孙、亚斯列子孙、示剑子孙、希弗子孙、示米大子孙。这些按着宗族，都是约瑟儿子玛拿西子孙的男丁。 3 玛拿西的玄孙、玛吉的曾孙、基列的孙子、希弗的儿子西罗非哈没有儿子，只有女儿，他的女儿名叫玛拉、挪阿、曷拉、密迦、得撒。 4 她们来到祭司以利亚撒和嫩的儿子约书亚并众首领面前，说：“耶和华曾吩咐摩西在我们弟兄中分给我们产业。”于是约书亚照耶和华所吩咐的，在她们伯叔中，把产业分给她们。 5 除了约旦河东的基列和巴珊地之外，还有十份地归玛拿西， 6 因为玛拿西的孙女们在玛拿西的孙子中得了产业。基列地是属玛拿西其余的子孙。
玛拿西所得之地
7 玛拿西的境界，从亚设起，到示剑前的密米他，往北到隐他普亚居民之地。 8 他普亚地归玛拿西，只是玛拿西境界上的他普亚城归以法莲子孙。 9 其界下到加拿河的南边，在玛拿西城邑中的这些城邑都归以法莲。玛拿西的地界是在河北直通到海为止。 10 南归以法莲，北归玛拿西，以海为界。北边到亚设，东边到以萨迦。 11 玛拿西在以萨迦和亚设境内，有伯善和属伯善的镇市，以伯莲和属以伯莲的镇市，多珥的居民和属多珥的镇市。又有三处山冈，就是隐多珥和属隐多珥的镇市，他纳的居民和属他纳的镇市，米吉多的居民和属米吉多的镇市。 12 只是玛拿西子孙不能赶出这些城的居民，迦南人偏要住在那地。 13 及至以色列人强盛了，就使迦南人做苦工，没有把他们全然赶出。

14 约瑟的子孙对约书亚说：“耶和华到如今既然赐福于我们，我们也族大人多，你为什么仅将一阄一段之地分给我们为业呢？” 15 约书亚说：“你们如果族大人多，嫌以法莲山地窄小，就可以上比利洗人、利乏音人之地，在树林中砍伐树木。” 16 约瑟的子孙说：“那山地容不下我们，并且住平原的迦南人，就是住伯善和属伯善的镇市，并住耶斯列平原的人，都有铁车。” 17 约书亚对约瑟家，就是以法莲和玛拿西人，说：“你是族大人多，并且强盛，不可仅有一阄之地。 18 山地也要归你，虽是树林，你也可以砍伐。靠近之地必归你。迦南人虽有铁车，虽是强盛，你也能把他们赶出去。”

17 Kynkvísl Manasse fékk sinn hlut, því að hann var frumgetningur Jósefs. Makír, frumgetningur Manasse, faðir Gíleaðs, fékk Gíleað og Basan, því að hann var bardagamaður.
2 Og hinir synir Manasse fengu sinn hluta eftir ættum þeirra: synir Abíesers, synir Heleks, synir Asríels, synir Sekems, synir Hefers og synir Semída. Þessir voru synir Manasse Jósefssonar í karllegginn, eftir ættum þeirra.
3 En Selofhað Hefersson, Gíleaðssonar, Makírssonar, Manassesonar, átti enga sonu, heldur dætur einar, og hétu þær Mahla, Nóa, Hogla, Milka og Tirsa.
4 Þær gengu fyrir Eleasar prest, Jósúa Núnsson og höfuðsmennina og sögðu: "Drottinn bauð Móse að gefa oss óðal meðal bræðra vorra." Gaf hann þeim þá eftir boði Drottins óðal meðal bræðra föður þeirra.
5 Komu þá tíu hlutir á Manasse, auk Gíleaðlands og Basans, sem liggja hinumegin Jórdanar,
6 með því að dætur Manasse fengu óðal meðal sona hans, en Gíleaðland fengu hinir synir Manasse.
7 Landamerki Manasse lágu frá Asser til Mikmetat, sem liggur fyrir austan Síkem; þaðan lágu landamærin til hægri, til þeirra sem bjuggu í En-Tappúa.
8 Tappúasveit fékk Manasse, en Tappúaborg, sem lá við takmörk Manasse, fengu Efraíms synir.
9 Þá lágu landamerkin niður að Kana-læk, fyrir sunnan lækinn. Þessar borgir heyra Efraím mitt á meðal borga Manasse. Þaðan lágu landamerki Manasse norðan með læknum og alla leið til sjávar.

14 Þá báru Jósefs synir sig upp við Jósúa og sögðu: "Hví hefir þú ekki gefið mér nema eitt hlutskipti og einn hlut að óðali, og er ég þó fjölmennur, þar sem Drottinn hefir blessað mig allt til þessa?"
15 Jósúa sagði við þá: "Ef þú ert orðinn svo fjölmennur, þá far þú upp í skóginn og ryð þér þar til bólstaða í landi Peresíta og Refaíta, ef of þröngt er orðið um þig á Efraímfjöllum."
16 Þá sögðu Jósefs synir: "Fjalllendið nægir oss eigi, því að allir Kanaanítar, þeir er á sléttlendinu búa, hafa járnvagna, bæði þeir sem búa í Bet Sean og þorpunum, er að liggja, og þeir sem búa á Jesreelsléttunni."
17 Þá sagði Jósúa við hús Jósefs, við Efraím og Manasse: "Þú ert orðinn fjölmennur, og styrkur þinn er mikill. Þú skalt fá meira en einn erfðahluta,
18 því að fjalllendið skal vera þitt. Ef það er skógi vaxið, þá verður þú að ryðja hann, þá munt þú og eignast fjalladrögin. Því að þú verður að reka Kanaanítana burt, fyrst þeir hafa járnvagna og fyrst þeir eru sterkir."

The Other Half-Tribe of Manasseh (West)
17 There was also a lot for the tribe of Manasseh, for he was the (A)firstborn of Joseph: namely for (B)Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead, because he was a man of war; therefore he was given (C)Gilead and Bashan. 2 And there was a lot for (D)the rest of the children of Manasseh according to their families: (E)for the children of [a]Abiezer, the children of Helek, (F)the children of Asriel, the children of Shechem, (G)the children of Hepher, and the children of Shemida; these were the male children of Manasseh the son of Joseph according to their families.
3 But (H)Zelophehad the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but only daughters. And these are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. 4 And they came near before (I)Eleazar the priest, before Joshua the son of Nun, and before the rulers, saying, (J)“The Lord commanded Moses to give us an [b]inheritance among our brothers.” Therefore, according to the commandment of the Lord, he gave them an inheritance among their father’s brothers. 5 Ten shares fell to (K)Manasseh, besides the land of Gilead and Bashan, which were on the other side of the Jordan, 6 because the daughters of Manasseh received an inheritance among his sons; and the rest of Manasseh’s sons had the land of Gilead.
7 And the territory of Manasseh was from Asher to (L)Michmethath, that lies east of Shechem; and the border went along south to the inhabitants of En Tappuah. 8 Manasseh had the land of Tappuah, but (M)Tappuah on the border of Manasseh belonged to the children of Ephraim. 9 And the [c]border descended to the [d]Brook Kanah, southward to the brook. (N)These cities of Ephraim are among the cities of Manasseh. The border of Manasseh was on the north side of the brook; and it ended at the sea.
10 Southward it was Ephraim’s, northward it was Manasseh’s, and the sea was its border. Manasseh’s territory was adjoining Asher on the north and Issachar on the east. 11 And in Issachar and in Asher, (O)Manasseh had (P)Beth Shean and its towns, Ibleam and its towns, the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, the inhabitants of En Dor and its towns, the inhabitants of Taanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns—three hilly regions. 12 Yet (Q)the children of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities, but the Canaanites were determined to dwell in that land. 13 And it happened, when the children of Israel grew strong, that they put the Canaanites to (R)forced labor, but did not utterly drive them out.
More Land for Ephraim and Manasseh
14 (S)Then the children of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, “Why have you given us only (T)one [e]lot and one share to inherit, since we are (U)a great people, inasmuch as the Lord has blessed us until now?”
15 So Joshua answered them, “If you are a great people, then go up to the forest country and clear a place for yourself there in the land of the Perizzites and the giants, since the mountains of Ephraim are too confined for you.”
16 But the children of Joseph said, “The mountain country is not enough for us; and all the Canaanites who dwell in the land of the valley have (V)chariots of iron, both those who are of Beth Shean and its towns and those who are (W)of the Valley of Jezreel.”
17 And Joshua spoke to the house of Joseph—to Ephraim and Manasseh—saying, “You are a great people and have great power; you shall not have only one [f]lot, 18 but the mountain country shall be yours. Although it is wooded, you shall cut it down, and its [g]farthest extent shall be yours; for you shall drive out the Canaanites, (X)though they have iron chariots and are strong.”
