17 以下是约瑟的长子玛拿西支派分到的土地：玛拿西的长子、基列的父亲玛吉是个战士，因此分到了基列和巴珊两地。 2 玛拿西其他的子孙也按宗族分到了土地，他们属于亚比以谢、希勒、亚斯列、示剑、希弗和示米大宗族。这些男子按宗族都是约瑟的儿子玛拿西的后代。 3 玛拿西的玄孙、玛吉的曾孙、基列的孙子、希弗的儿子西罗非哈没有儿子，只有五个女儿，名叫玛拉、挪阿、曷拉、密迦、得撒。 4 她们来见祭司以利亚撒、嫩的儿子约书亚和各首领，说：“耶和华曾经吩咐摩西在我们亲族中分给我们产业。”约书亚便照耶和华的吩咐，让她们在叔伯中也分到产业。 5 除了约旦河东的基列和巴珊两地以外，玛拿西人还分到十块土地， 6 因为在玛拿西的后代中，女性也分到了产业。玛拿西其他的子孙分到基列地区。

The Other Half-Tribe of Manasseh (West)
17 There was also a lot for the tribe of Manasseh, for he was the (A)firstborn of Joseph: namely for (B)Machir the firstborn of Manasseh, the father of Gilead, because he was a man of war; therefore he was given (C)Gilead and Bashan. 2 And there was a lot for (D)the rest of the children of Manasseh according to their families: (E)for the children of [a]Abiezer, the children of Helek, (F)the children of Asriel, the children of Shechem, (G)the children of Hepher, and the children of Shemida; these were the male children of Manasseh the son of Joseph according to their families.
3 But (H)Zelophehad the son of Hepher, the son of Gilead, the son of Machir, the son of Manasseh, had no sons, but only daughters. And these are the names of his daughters: Mahlah, Noah, Hoglah, Milcah, and Tirzah. 4 And they came near before (I)Eleazar the priest, before Joshua the son of Nun, and before the rulers, saying, (J)“The Lord commanded Moses to give us an [b]inheritance among our brothers.” Therefore, according to the commandment of the Lord, he gave them an inheritance among their father’s brothers. 5 Ten shares fell to (K)Manasseh, besides the land of Gilead and Bashan, which were on the other side of the Jordan, 6 because the daughters of Manasseh received an inheritance among his sons; and the rest of Manasseh’s sons had the land of Gilead.
7 And the territory of Manasseh was from Asher to (L)Michmethath, that lies east of Shechem; and the border went along south to the inhabitants of En Tappuah. 8 Manasseh had the land of Tappuah, but (M)Tappuah on the border of Manasseh belonged to the children of Ephraim. 9 And the [c]border descended to the [d]Brook Kanah, southward to the brook. (N)These cities of Ephraim are among the cities of Manasseh. The border of Manasseh was on the north side of the brook; and it ended at the sea.
10 Southward it was Ephraim’s, northward it was Manasseh’s, and the sea was its border. Manasseh’s territory was adjoining Asher on the north and Issachar on the east. 11 And in Issachar and in Asher, (O)Manasseh had (P)Beth Shean and its towns, Ibleam and its towns, the inhabitants of Dor and its towns, the inhabitants of En Dor and its towns, the inhabitants of Taanach and its towns, and the inhabitants of Megiddo and its towns—three hilly regions. 12 Yet (Q)the children of Manasseh could not drive out the inhabitants of those cities, but the Canaanites were determined to dwell in that land. 13 And it happened, when the children of Israel grew strong, that they put the Canaanites to (R)forced labor, but did not utterly drive them out.
More Land for Ephraim and Manasseh
14 (S)Then the children of Joseph spoke to Joshua, saying, “Why have you given us only (T)one [e]lot and one share to inherit, since we are (U)a great people, inasmuch as the Lord has blessed us until now?”
15 So Joshua answered them, “If you are a great people, then go up to the forest country and clear a place for yourself there in the land of the Perizzites and the giants, since the mountains of Ephraim are too confined for you.”
16 But the children of Joseph said, “The mountain country is not enough for us; and all the Canaanites who dwell in the land of the valley have (V)chariots of iron, both those who are of Beth Shean and its towns and those who are (W)of the Valley of Jezreel.”
17 And Joshua spoke to the house of Joseph—to Ephraim and Manasseh—saying, “You are a great people and have great power; you shall not have only one [f]lot, 18 but the mountain country shall be yours. Although it is wooded, you shall cut it down, and its [g]farthest extent shall be yours; for you shall drive out the Canaanites, (X)though they have iron chariots and are strong.”

17 Este fue el territorio que le correspondió en suerte a la tribu de Manasés, primogénito de José. A Maquir, primogénito de Manasés y padre de Galaad, que era un valiente guerrero, le tocó Galaad y Basán. 2 También les tocó en suerte un territorio a los otros hijos de Manasés, por clanes: a los hijos de Abiecer, a los hijos de Jéleq, a los hijos de Asriel, a los hijos de Siquén, a los hijos de Jéfer, a los hijos de Semidá. Estos eran, por clanes, los hijos varones de Manasés, hijo de José.
3 Pero Selofjad, hijo de Jéfer, hijo de Galaad, hijo de Maquir, hijo de Manasés, no tenía hijos; sólo hijas. Sus hijas se llamaban: Majlá, Noá, Joglá, Milcá y Tirsá. 4 Estas se presentaron ante el sacerdote Eleazar, ante Josué, hijo de Nun, y ante los jefes del pueblo, diciéndoles:
— El Señor ordenó a Moisés que se nos asignara una heredad entre nuestros hermanos.
Se les asignó, pues, según la orden del Señor, una heredad entre los hermanos de su padre. 5 Así que a la tribu de Manasés le correspondieron diez partes —además de Galaad y Basán, territorios de Transjordania—, 6 pues las hijas de Selofjad, descendiente de Manasés, obtuvieron una heredad entre los descendientes de Manasés. El país de Galaad fue para los descendientes de los otros hijos de Manasés.
7 El territorio de Manasés limitaba, por el lado de Aser, con Mikmetá, que está frente a Siquén; desde allí la línea fronteriza iba hacia el sur, hacia la fuente de Tapuaj. 8 La zona de Tapuaj era de Manasés, pero el mismo Tapuaj, en la frontera de Manasés, era de los descendientes de Efraín. 9 La línea limítrofe bajaba por la vaguada de Caná; al sur de la vaguada estaban las ciudades que tenía Efraín entre las de Manasés; el territorio de Manasés estaba al norte de la vaguada, e iba a salir al mar. 10 El territorio del sur era de Efraín y el del norte de Manasés; la línea divisoria llegaba hasta el mar. El territorio de Manasés lindaba al norte con el de Aser y con el de Isacar al este. 11 Dentro del territorio de Isacar y de Aser, le correspondieron a Manasés Bet Seán y sus filiales, Jibleán y sus filiales, los habitantes de Dor y sus filiales, a los habitantes de Endor y sus filiales, a los habitantes de Tanac y Meguido y sus filiales. 12 Sin embargo, los descendientes de Manasés no consiguieron apoderarse de esas ciudades, de modo que los cananeos se mantuvieron en aquella región. 13 Pero, cuando los israelitas fueron lo bastante fuertes, los sometieron a trabajos forzados, aunque no llegaron a expulsarlos.
Reclamación de los descendientes de José
14 Los descendientes de José dijeron a Josué:
— ¿Por qué nos has asignado en heredad únicamente una suerte, un solo lote, siendo como somos tan numerosos, gracias a que el Señor nos ha bendecido?
15 Josué respondió:
— Puesto que son un pueblo tan numeroso, suban a la región de los fereceos y de los refaítas y talen para ustedes sus bosques, ya que la montaña de Efraín les resulta demasiado estrecha.
16 Los descendientes de José respondieron:
— La montaña no nos basta y, por otra parte, los cananeos que habitan en el llano tienen carros de hierro, tanto los de Betsán y sus filiales como los de la llanura de Jezrael.
17 Josué respondió a la casa de José, a Efraín y Manasés:
— Ustedes son un pueblo muy numeroso y muy fuerte; así que no tendrán un solo lote; 18 también la región montañosa será de ustedes; está cubierta de bosques, pero ustedes talarán sus árboles y la harán suya. Y expulsarán a los cananeos, aunque tengan carros de hierro y sean muy poderosos.
