耶穌的弟弟不信祂
7 之後，耶穌周遊加利利，不願去猶太地區，因為猶太人想要殺祂。 2 猶太人的住棚節快到了， 3 耶穌的弟弟們對祂說：「離開這裡，去猶太過節吧，好讓你的門徒在那裡也看見你所做的啊！ 4 因為人想出名，都不會暗地裡行事，你既然可以做這些事，就把自己顯給世人看吧！」 5 原來連祂的弟弟們也不信祂。
6 耶穌對他們說：「我的時候還沒有到，你們什麼時候都很方便。 7 世人不會恨你們，只會恨我，因為我指證他們行為邪惡。 8 你們先去過節吧，我現在還不上去，因為我的時候還沒有到。」 9 耶穌說完這些話，仍留在加利利。
耶穌過住棚節
10 他們走了以後，耶穌避開了人們的注意，暗地裡上去過節。 11 節期到了，猶太人到處查問：「耶穌在哪裡？」
12 眾人對祂議論紛紛，有些人說：「祂是好人，」有些說：「不，祂欺騙民眾。」 13 不過，沒有人敢公開議論祂的事，因為害怕猶太人。
14 節期約過了一半，耶穌來到聖殿教導人。 15 猶太人感到驚奇，說：「這個人沒有受過教育，怎麼懂得這麼多呢？」
16 耶穌說：「我的教導不是出於我自己，而是出於差我來的那位。 17 如果你們願意遵行上帝的旨意，就能分辨這些教導是出於上帝，還是出於我自己。 18 憑自己講論的人是要尋求自己的榮耀，但人子真實無偽，毫無不義，祂是為了使差祂來的那位得榮耀。 19 摩西不是把律法傳給了你們嗎？你們卻沒有一個人遵守。為什麼想要殺我呢？」
20 眾人回答說：「你一定是被鬼附身了！誰要殺你啊？」
21 耶穌說：「我行了一件神蹟，你們都感到驚奇。 22 摩西把割禮傳給你們，你們也在安息日行割禮。其實割禮不是摩西定的，而是從祖先們的時代就有了。 23 為了避免違背摩西的律法，行割禮的那一天就算是安息日，你們還是照行。那麼，我在安息日使一個病人完全康復，你們為什麼責怪我呢？ 24 不要根據外表來斷定是非，要按公義的原則判斷。」
耶穌是基督嗎
25 有些住在耶路撒冷的人說：「這不是他們要殺的那個人嗎？ 26 你看祂這樣公開講道，居然沒有人說什麼，難道官長也真的認為祂是基督嗎？ 27 可是基督來的時候，根本沒有人知道祂從哪裡來，我們卻知道這個人是從哪裡來的。」
28 於是，耶穌在聖殿裡高聲教導人說：「你們知道我是誰，也知道我是從哪裡來的。其實我來不是出於自己的意思，差我來的那位是真實的，你們不認識祂。 29 但我認識祂，因為我是從祂那裡來的，差我來的就是祂。」 30 他們聽了，想捉拿耶穌，只是沒有人下手，因為祂的時候還沒有到。
31 人群中有許多人信了耶穌，他們說：「基督來的時候所行的神蹟，難道會比這個人行得更多嗎？」
32 法利賽人聽見眾人這樣議論耶穌，就聯合祭司長派差役去抓祂。 33 耶穌對眾人說：「我暫時還會跟你們在一起，不久我要回到差我來的那位那裡。 34 那時你們要找我卻找不到，你們也不能去我所在的地方。」
35 猶太人彼此議論說：「祂要去哪裡使我們找不著呢？難道祂要到我們猶太人僑居的希臘各地去教導希臘人嗎？ 36 祂說我們找不到祂，又不能去祂所在的地方，是什麼意思？」
活水的江河
37 節期最後一天，也是整個節期的高潮，耶穌站起來高聲說：「人若渴了，可以到我這裡來喝。 38 正如聖經所言，信我的人，『從他裡面要流出活水的江河來』。」 39 耶穌這話是指信祂的人要得到聖靈，但當時聖靈還沒有降臨，因為耶穌還沒有得到榮耀。
40 聽見這些話後，有些人說：「祂真是那位先知。」 41 也有些人說：「祂是基督。」還有些人說：「不會吧，基督怎麼會出自加利利呢？ 42 聖經上不是說基督是大衛的後裔，要降生在大衛的故鄉伯利恆嗎？」 43 眾人因為對耶穌的看法不同，就起了紛爭。 44 有些人想抓祂，只是沒有人下手。
猶太官長不信耶穌
45 祭司長和法利賽人看見差役空手回來，就問：「你們為什麼不把祂帶來呢？」
46 差役答道：「從未有人像祂那樣說話！」
47 法利賽人說：「難道你們也被祂迷惑了嗎？ 48 哪有官長和法利賽人信祂呢？ 49 這群不明白律法的民眾該受咒詛！」
50 曾經夜訪耶穌、屬於他們當中一員的尼哥德慕說： 51 「難道不聽被告申辯，不查明事實真相，我們的律法就定祂的罪嗎？」
52 他們回答說：「難道你也是加利利人嗎？你去查查看，就會知道沒有先知是從加利利來的。」

Jesus’ Brothers Disbelieve
7 After these things Jesus walked in Galilee; for He did not want to walk in Judea, (A)because the [a]Jews sought to kill Him. 2 (B)Now the Jews’ Feast of Tabernacles was at hand. 3 (C)His brothers therefore said to Him, “Depart from here and go into Judea, that Your disciples also may see the works that You are doing. 4 For no one does anything in secret while he himself seeks to be known openly. If You do these things, show Yourself to the world.” 5 For (D)even His (E)brothers did not believe in Him.
6 Then Jesus said to them, (F)“My time has not yet come, but your time is always ready. 7 (G)The world cannot hate you, but it hates Me (H)because I testify of it that its works are evil. 8 You go up to this feast. I am not [b]yet going up to this feast, (I)for My time has not yet fully come.” 9 When He had said these things to them, He remained in Galilee.
The Heavenly Scholar
10 But when His brothers had gone up, then He also went up to the feast, not openly, but as it were in secret. 11 Then (J)the Jews sought Him at the feast, and said, “Where is He?” 12 And (K)there was much complaining among the people concerning Him. (L)Some said, “He is good”; others said, “No, on the contrary, He deceives the people.” 13 However, no one spoke openly of Him (M)for fear of the Jews.
14 Now about the middle of the feast Jesus went up into the temple and (N)taught. 15 (O)And the Jews marveled, saying, “How does this Man know letters, having never studied?”
16 [c]Jesus answered them and said, (P)“My doctrine is not Mine, but His who sent Me. 17 (Q)If anyone wills to do His will, he shall know concerning the doctrine, whether it is from God or whether I speak on My own authority. 18 (R)He who speaks from himself seeks his own glory; but He who (S)seeks the glory of the One who sent Him is true, and (T)no unrighteousness is in Him. 19 (U)Did not Moses give you the law, yet none of you keeps the law? (V)Why do you seek to kill Me?”
20 The people answered and said, (W)“You have a demon. Who is seeking to kill You?”
21 Jesus answered and said to them, “I did one work, and you all marvel. 22 (X)Moses therefore gave you circumcision (not that it is from Moses, (Y)but from the fathers), and you circumcise a man on the Sabbath. 23 If a man receives circumcision on the Sabbath, so that the law of Moses should not be broken, are you angry with Me because (Z)I made a man completely well on the Sabbath? 24 (AA)Do not judge according to appearance, but judge with righteous judgment.”
Could This Be the Christ?
25 Now some of them from Jerusalem said, “Is this not He whom they seek to (AB)kill? 26 But look! He speaks boldly, and they say nothing to Him. (AC)Do the rulers know indeed that this is [d]truly the Christ? 27 (AD)However, we know where this Man is from; but when the Christ comes, no one knows where He is from.”
28 Then Jesus cried out, as He taught in the temple, saying, (AE)“You both know Me, and you know where I am from; and (AF)I have not come of Myself, but He who sent Me (AG)is true, (AH)whom you do not know. 29 [e]But (AI)I know Him, for I am from Him, and He sent Me.”
30 Therefore (AJ)they sought to take Him; but (AK)no one laid a hand on Him, because His hour had not yet come. 31 And (AL)many of the people believed in Him, and said, “When the Christ comes, will He do more signs than these which this Man has done?”
Jesus and the Religious Leaders
32 The Pharisees heard the crowd murmuring these things concerning Him, and the Pharisees and the chief priests sent officers to take Him. 33 Then Jesus said [f]to them, (AM)“I shall be with you a little while longer, and then I (AN)go to Him who sent Me. 34 You (AO)will seek Me and not find Me, and where I am you (AP)cannot come.”
35 Then the Jews said among themselves, “Where does He intend to go that we shall not find Him? Does He intend to go to (AQ)the Dispersion among the Greeks and teach the Greeks? 36 What is this thing that He said, ‘You will seek Me and not find Me, and where I am you cannot come’?”
The Promise of the Holy Spirit
37 (AR)On the last day, that great day of the feast, Jesus stood and cried out, saying, (AS)“If anyone thirsts, let him come to Me and drink. 38 (AT)He who believes in Me, as the Scripture has said, (AU)out of his heart will flow rivers of living water.” 39 (AV)But this He spoke concerning the Spirit, whom those [g]believing in Him would receive; for the [h]Holy Spirit was not yet given, because Jesus was not yet (AW)glorified.
Who Is He?
40 Therefore [i]many from the crowd, when they heard this saying, said, “Truly this is (AX)the Prophet.” 41 Others said, “This is (AY)the Christ.”
But some said, “Will the Christ come out of Galilee? 42 (AZ)Has not the Scripture said that the Christ comes from the seed of David and from the town of Bethlehem, (BA)where David was?” 43 So (BB)there was a division among the people because of Him. 44 Now (BC)some of them wanted to take Him, but no one laid hands on Him.
Rejected by the Authorities
45 Then the officers came to the chief priests and Pharisees, who said to them, “Why have you not brought Him?”
46 The officers answered, (BD)“No man ever spoke like this Man!”
47 Then the Pharisees answered them, “Are you also deceived? 48 Have any of the rulers or the Pharisees believed in Him? 49 But this crowd that does not know the law is accursed.”
50 Nicodemus (BE)(he who came to [j]Jesus [k]by night, being one of them) said to them, 51 (BF)“Does our law judge a man before it hears him and knows what he is doing?”
52 They answered and said to him, “Are you also from Galilee? Search and look, for (BG)no prophet [l]has arisen out of Galilee.”
An Adulteress Faces the Light of the World

7 Dopo queste cose, Gesú andava in giro per la Galilea, perché non voleva andare per la Giudea, perché i Giudei cercavano di ucciderlo.
2 Ora la festa dei Giudei, quella dei Tabernacoli, era vicina.
3 Per cui i suoi fratelli gli dissero: «Parti di qui e va' in Giudea, affinché anche i tuoi discepoli vedano le opere che tu fai.
4 Nessuno infatti fa alcuna cosa in segreto, quando cerca di essere riconosciuto pubblicamente, se tu fai tali cose, palesati al mondo».
5 Neppure i suoi fratelli infatti credevano in lui.
6 Allora Gesú disse loro: «Il mio tempo non è ancora venuto; il vostro tempo invece è sempre pronto.
7 Il mondo non può odiare voi, ma odia me perché io testimonio di lui, che le sue opere sono malvagie.
8 Salite voi a questa festa, io non vi salgo ancora, perché il mio tempo non è ancora compiuto».
9 E, dette loro tali cose, rimase in Galilea.
10 Dopo che i suoi fratelli furono saliti alla festa, allora anche lui vi salí, non pubblicamente, ma come di nascosto.
11 I Giudei dunque lo cercavano durante la festa e dicevano: «Dov'è quel tale?».
12 Fra le folle si faceva un gran parlottare intorno a lui; gli uni dicevano: «Egli è un uomo dabbene!». Altri dicevano: «No, anzi egli inganna la folla».
13 Nessuno però parlava di lui apertamente, per timore dei Giudei.
14 Ma, verso la metà della festa, Gesú salí al tempio e incominciò a insegnare.
15 E i Giudei si meravigliavano e dicevano: «Come mai costui sa di lettere, senza aver fatto studi?».
16 Gesú allora rispose loro e disse: «La mia dottrina non è mia, ma di colui che mi ha mandato.
17 Se qualcuno vuol fare la sua volontà, conoscerà se questa dottrina viene da Dio, oppure se io parlo da me stesso.
18 Chi parla da se stesso cerca la sua propria gloria, ma chi cerca la gloria di colui che l'ha mandato è verace, e in lui non vi è ingiustizia.
19 Non vi ha Mosé dato la legge? Eppure nessuno di voi mette in pratica la legge. Perché cercate di uccidermi?».
20 La folla rispose e disse: «Tu hai un demone; chi cerca di ucciderti?».
21 Gesú replicò e disse loro: «Io ho fatto un'opera e ne siete tutti meravigliati.
22 Ora Mosé vi ha dato la circoncisione, (non già che essa provenga da Mosé, ma dai padri); e voi circoncidete un uomo di sabato.
23 Se un uomo riceve la circoncisione di sabato, affinché la legge di Mosé non sia violata, vi adirate voi contro di me perché ho guarito interamente un uomo di sabato?
24 Non giudicate secondo l'apparenza ma giudicate secondo giustizia».
25 Allora alcuni di Gerusalemme dicevano: «Non è questi colui che cercano di uccidere?
26 Eppure, ecco, egli parla liberamente e non gli dicono nulla; hanno i capi riconosciuto davvero che egli è il Cristo?
27 Ma noi sappiamo di dove sia costui; invece quando il Cristo verrà, nessuno saprà di dove egli sia».
28 Allora Gesú, insegnando nel tempio, esclamò e disse: «Voi mi conoscete e sapete da dove sono; tuttavia io non sono venuto da me stesso, ma colui che mi ha mandato è verace e voi non lo conoscete.
29 Io però lo conosco, perché vengo da lui ed è stato lui a mandarmi».
30 Perciò cercavano di prenderlo, ma nessuno gli mise le mani addosso, perché la sua ora non era ancora venuta.
31 Ma molti della folla credettero in lui e dicevano: «Il Cristo, quando verrà, farà piú segni di quanti ne abbia fatti costui?».
32 I farisei udirono che la folla sussurrava queste cose a suo riguardo; perciò i farisei e i capi dei sacerdoti mandarono delle guardie per prenderlo.
33 Allora Gesú disse loro: «Io sono con voi ancora per poco tempo; poi me ne andrò da colui che mi ha mandato.
34 Voi mi cercherete e non mi troverete; e dove sarò io, voi non potete venire».
35 Dicevano perciò i Giudei tra loro: «Dove sta egli per andare che noi non lo troveremo? Andrà forse da quelli che sono dispersi fra i Greci, e ad insegnare ai Greci?
36 Cosa voleva dire quando disse: "Voi mi cercherete e non mi troverete"; e: "Dove sarò io, voi non potete venire"?».
37 Or nell'ultimo giorno, il grande giorno della festa, Gesú si alzò in piedi ed esclamò dicendo: «Se qualcuno ha sete, venga a me e beva.
38 Chi crede in me, come ha detto la Scrittura, da dentro di lui sgorgheranno fiumi d'acqua viva».
39 Or egli disse questo dello Spirito, che avrebbero ricevuto coloro che avrebbero creduto in lui; lo Spirito Santo infatti non era ancora stato dato, perché Gesú non era stato ancora glorificato.
40 Molti dunque della folla, udite queste parole, dicevano: «Costui è veramente il profeta».
41 Altri dicevano: «Costui è il Cristo». Alcuni invece dicevano: «Viene forse il Cristo dalla Galilea?
42 Non dice la Scrittura che il Cristo viene dalla progenie di Davide e da Betlemme, villaggio dove viveva Davide?».
43 Ci fu dunque dissenso fra la folla a motivo di lui.
44 E alcuni di loro lo volevano prendere, ma nessuno gli mise le mani addosso.
45 Le guardie tornarono quindi dai capi dei sacerdoti e dai farisei, e questi dissero loro: «Perché non l'avete portato?».
46 Le guardie risposero: «Nessun uomo ha mai parlato come costui».
47 Perciò i farisei risposero loro: «Siete stati sedotti anche voi?
48 Ha qualcuno dei capi o dei farisei creduto in lui?
49 Ma questa plebaglia, che non conosce la legge, è maledetta».
50 Nicodemo, uno di loro, colui che era andato da Gesú di notte, disse loro:
51 «La nostra legge condanna forse un uomo prima di averlo ascoltato e di sapere ciò che egli ha fatto?».
52 Essi risposero e gli dissero: «Sei forse anche tu Galileo? Ricerca le Scritture e vedrai che dalla Galilea non sorse mai alcun profeta».
53 E ciascuno se ne tornò a casa sua.
