耶穌與撒馬利亞婦人談道
4 主知道法利賽人聽見他收門徒施洗比約翰還多 2 （其實不是耶穌親自施洗，乃是他的門徒施洗）， 3 他就離了猶太，又往加利利去。 4 必須經過撒馬利亞， 5 於是到了撒馬利亞的一座城，名叫敘加，靠近雅各給他兒子約瑟的那塊地。 6 在那裡有雅各井。耶穌因走路困乏，就坐在井旁。那時約有午正。 7 有一個撒馬利亞的婦人來打水，耶穌對她說：「請你給我水喝。」 8 那時門徒進城買食物去了。 9 撒馬利亞的婦人對他說：「你既是猶太人，怎麼向我一個撒馬利亞婦人要水喝呢？」（原來猶太人和撒馬利亞人沒有來往。） 10 耶穌回答說：「你若知道神的恩賜和對你說『給我水喝』的是誰，你必早求他，他也必早給了你活水。」 11 婦人說：「先生，沒有打水的器具，井又深，你從哪裡得活水呢？ 12 我們的祖宗雅各將這井留給我們，他自己和兒子並牲畜也都喝這井裡的水，難道你比他還大嗎？」
喝主所賜之水永遠不渴
13 耶穌回答說：「凡喝這水的，還要再渴， 14 人若喝我所賜的水，就永遠不渴。我所賜的水要在他裡頭成為泉源，直湧到永生。」 15 婦人說：「先生，請把這水賜給我，叫我不渴，也不用來這麼遠打水。」 16 耶穌說：「你去叫你丈夫也到這裡來。」 17 婦人說：「我沒有丈夫。」耶穌說：「你說沒有丈夫是不錯的。 18 你已經有五個丈夫，你現在有的並不是你的丈夫。你這話是真的。」 19 婦人說：「先生，我看出你是先知。 20 我們的祖宗在這山上禮拜，你們倒說，應當禮拜的地方是在耶路撒冷。」
須用心靈誠實拜父
21 耶穌說：「婦人，你當信我。時候將到，你們拜父也不在這山上，也不在耶路撒冷。 22 你們所拜的你們不知道，我們所拜的我們知道，因為救恩是從猶太人出來的。 23 時候將到，如今就是了，那真正拜父的，要用心靈和誠實拜他，因為父要這樣的人拜他。 24 神是個[a]靈，所以拜他的必須用心靈和誠實拜他。」 25 婦人說：「我知道彌賽亞，就是那稱為基督的要來，他來了，必將一切的事都告訴我們。」 26 耶穌說：「這和你說話的就是他。」
27 當下門徒回來，就稀奇耶穌和一個婦人說話，只是沒有人說「你是要什麼？」，或說「你為什麼和她說話？」。 28 那婦人就留下水罐子，往城裡去，對眾人說： 29 「你們來看！有一個人將我素來所行的一切事都給我說出來了，莫非這就是基督嗎？」 30 眾人就出城，往耶穌那裡去。
耶穌以遵行父意為食物
31 這其間，門徒對耶穌說：「拉比，請吃。」 32 耶穌說：「我有食物吃，是你們不知道的。」 33 門徒就彼此對問說：「莫非有人拿什麼給他吃嗎？」 34 耶穌說：「我的食物就是遵行差我來者的旨意，做成他的工。 35 你們豈不說，到收割的時候還有四個月嗎？我告訴你們：舉目向田觀看！莊稼已經熟了[b]，可以收割了。 36 收割的人得工價，積蓄五穀到永生，叫撒種的和收割的一同快樂。 37 俗語說：『那人撒種，這人收割。』這話可見是真的。 38 我差你們去收你們所沒有勞苦的，別人勞苦，你們享受他們所勞苦的。」
39 那城裡有好些撒馬利亞人信了耶穌，因為那婦人作見證說：「他將我素來所行的一切事都給我說出來了。」 40 於是撒馬利亞人來見耶穌，求他在他們那裡住下，他便在那裡住了兩天。 41 因耶穌的話，信的人就更多了， 42 便對婦人說：「現在我們信，不是因為你的話，是我們親自聽見了，知道這真是救世主。」
耶穌在本地無人尊敬
43 過了那兩天，耶穌離了那地方，往加利利去。 44 因為耶穌自己作過見證說，先知在本地是沒有人尊敬的。 45 到了加利利，加利利人既然看見他在耶路撒冷過節所行的一切事，就接待他，因為他們也是上去過節。
醫大臣之子
46 耶穌又到了加利利的迦拿，就是他從前變水為酒的地方。有一個大臣，他的兒子在迦百農患病。 47 他聽見耶穌從猶太到了加利利，就來見他，求他下去醫治他的兒子，因為他兒子快要死了。 48 耶穌就對他說：「若不看見神蹟奇事，你們總是不信！」 49 那大臣說：「先生，求你趁著我的孩子還沒有死就下去。」 50 耶穌對他說：「回去吧，你的兒子活了！」那人信耶穌所說的話就回去了。 51 正下去的時候，他的僕人迎見他，說他的兒子活了。 52 他就問什麼時候見好的，他們說：「昨日未時熱就退了。」 53 他便知道這正是耶穌對他說「你兒子活了」的時候，他自己和全家就都信了。 54 這是耶穌在加利利行的第二件神蹟，是他從猶太回去以後行的。

Jesús y la samaritana
4 Jesús se enteró de que los fariseos sabían que él hacía y bautizaba más discípulos que Juan. 2 Aunque en realidad los que bautizaban eran los discípulos de Jesús y no él mismo. 3 Cuando Jesús se enteró, salió de Judea y regresó a Galilea.
4 En el viaje tenía que pasar por Samaria 5 y llegó a un pueblo samaritano llamado Sicar. Este se encontraba cerca del terreno que Jacob le había dado a su hijo José. 6 Allí estaba el pozo de Jacob. Jesús, cansado del viaje, se sentó junto al pozo. Era cerca del mediodía.
7-8 Sus discípulos habían ido al pueblo a comprar comida. En eso, llegó una mujer de Samaria a sacar agua. Jesús le dijo:
―Dame un poco de agua.
9 Pero como los judíos no se llevaban bien con los samaritanos, la mujer le respondió:
―¿Cómo se te ocurre pedirme agua, si tú eres judío y yo soy samaritana?
10 Jesús le contestó:
―Si supieras lo que Dios puede darte y quién es el que te está pidiendo agua, serías tú la que le pediría agua a él y él te daría agua que da vida.
11 La mujer le dijo:
―Señor, ni siquiera tienes con qué sacar el agua y el pozo es muy hondo. ¿Cómo me vas a dar agua que da vida? 12 Nuestro antepasado Jacob nos dejó este pozo y de aquí bebía agua él, sus hijos y su ganado. ¿Acaso eres tú superior a Jacob?
13 Jesús respondió:
―Cualquiera que beba de esta agua volverá a tener sed, 14 pero el que beba del agua que yo le dé, no volverá a tener sed jamás, porque dentro de él esa agua se convertirá en un manantial del que brotará vida eterna.
15 La mujer le dijo:
―Señor, dame de esa agua para que no vuelva a tener sed ni tenga que venir aquí a sacarla.
16 Jesús le dijo:
―Ve a llamar a tu esposo y regresa acá.
17 La mujer respondió:
―No tengo esposo.
Jesús le dijo:
―Has dicho la verdad en cuanto a que no tienes esposo, 18 porque has tenido cinco y el que ahora tienes no es tu esposo.
19 La mujer le dijo:
―Señor, me parece que eres profeta. 20 Nuestros antepasados adoraron en este monte, pero ustedes los judíos dicen que el lugar donde debemos adorar está en Jerusalén.
21 Jesús le respondió:
―Créeme, mujer, que ya está cerca la hora en que ustedes no adorarán al Padre ni en este monte ni en Jerusalén. 22 Ustedes adoran lo que no conocen, pero nosotros adoramos lo que conocemos, pues la salvación viene de los judíos. 23 Pero la hora se acerca, y ya está aquí, cuando los que verdaderamente adoran al Padre lo harán guiados por el Espíritu y en forma verdadera, porque el Padre así quiere que sean los que lo adoren. 24 Dios es espíritu, y los que lo adoran deben hacerlo guiados por el Espíritu y en forma verdadera.
25 La mujer respondió:
―Yo sé que viene el Mesías, al que llaman el Cristo. Cuando él venga nos explicará todas las cosas.
26 Jesús le dijo:
―Ese soy yo, el que está hablando contigo.
Los discípulos vuelven a reunirse con Jesús
27 En eso llegaron sus discípulos. Aunque se sorprendieron de verlo hablando con una mujer, no se atrevieron a preguntarle por qué lo hacía ni de qué estaba hablando con ella.
28 La mujer dejó su cántaro, corrió al pueblo y le decía a la gente:
29 ―Vengan a ver a un hombre que me ha dicho todo lo que he hecho. ¿No será este el Cristo?
30 Entonces salieron del pueblo y fueron a ver a Jesús.
31 Mientras tanto, sus discípulos le suplicaban:
―Maestro, come algo.
32 Él les dijo:
―Yo tengo una comida que ustedes no conocen.
33 Los discípulos se preguntaban: ¿Le habrán traído algo de comer?
34 Jesús les explicó:
―Mi comida es hacer la voluntad del que me envió y terminar el trabajo que me dio. 35 Ustedes dicen: “Todavía faltan cuatro meses para la cosecha”, pero yo les digo: ¡Fíjense bien en los campos sembrados! La cosecha ya está madura.
36 »El que trabaja recogiendo la cosecha ya recibe su salario y recoge la cosecha para vida eterna. Tanto el que siembra como el que cosecha se alegran juntos. 37 Porque es cierto lo que dice el refrán: “Uno es el que siembra y otro el que cosecha”. 38 Yo los he enviado a ustedes a cosechar lo que no les costó ningún trabajo. Otros fueron los que se fatigaron trabajando, y ustedes han cosechado el fruto del trabajo de ellos».
Muchos samaritanos creen en Jesús
39 Muchos de los samaritanos que vivían en ese pueblo creyeron en Jesús por las palabras que les dijo la mujer: «Me ha dicho todo lo que he hecho». 40 Cuando los samaritanos llegaron a donde él estaba, le suplicaron que se quedara con ellos. Jesús se quedó allí dos días, 41 y muchos más creyeron después de oírlo hablar.
42 Le dijeron a la mujer:
―Ahora creemos porque nosotros mismos lo hemos oído, y sabemos en verdad que él es el Salvador del mundo.
Jesús sana al hijo de un funcionario
43 Después de pasar allí esos dos días, se fue a Galilea, 44 pues Jesús mismo había dicho que ningún profeta recibe honra en su propia tierra. 45 Cuando llegó a Galilea, los galileos lo recibieron muy bien, ya que ellos mismos habían visto todo lo que él había hecho en Jerusalén durante la Pascua, porque habían estado también allí.
46 Depués volvió Jesús a Caná de Galilea, donde había convertido el agua en vino. Había allí un importante funcionario real que tenía a su hijo enfermo en Capernaúm. 47 Cuando el funcionario se enteró de que Jesús había viajado de Judea a Galilea, fue a verlo y le suplicó que lo acompañara y sanara a su hijo, pues estaba a punto de morir.
48 Jesús le dijo:
―Ustedes sólo van a creer si ven señales y milagros.
49 El funcionario le rogó:
―Señor, ven antes que se muera mi hijo.
50 Jesús le dijo:
―Regresa a casa, que tu hijo vive.
El hombre creyó lo que Jesús le dijo, y se fue. 51 Cuando iba de regreso a su casa, sus criados salieron a su encuentro con la noticia de que su hijo estaba vivo. 52 Él les preguntó a qué hora había comenzado su hijo a sentirse mejor, y le contestaron:
―Ayer a la una de la tarde se le quitó la fiebre.
53 El padre se dio cuenta de que a esa misma hora Jesús le había dicho: «Tu hijo vive». Así que él y toda su familia creyeron.
54 Esta fue la segunda señal que hizo Jesús en Galilea, después de volver de Judea.

4 Jesús[a] se enteró de que los fariseos sabían que él estaba haciendo y bautizando más discípulos que Juan 2 (aunque en realidad no era Jesús quien bautizaba, sino sus discípulos). 3 Por eso se fue de Judea y volvió otra vez a Galilea. 4 Como tenía que pasar por Samaria, 5 llegó a un pueblo samaritano llamado Sicar, cerca del terreno que Jacob le había dado a su hijo José. 6 Allí estaba el pozo de Jacob. Jesús, fatigado del camino, se sentó junto al pozo. Era cerca del mediodía.[b] 7-8 Sus discípulos habían ido al pueblo a comprar comida.
En eso llegó a sacar agua una mujer de Samaria, y Jesús le dijo:
―Dame un poco de agua.
9 Pero, como los judíos no se tratan[c] con los samaritanos, la mujer le respondió:

19 ―Señor, me doy cuenta de que tú eres profeta. 20 Nuestros antepasados adoraron en este monte, pero vosotros los judíos decís que el lugar donde debemos adorar está en Jerusalén.
21 ―Créeme, mujer, que se acerca la hora en que ni en este monte ni en Jerusalén adoraréis al Padre. 22 Vosotros adoráis lo que no conocéis; nosotros adoramos lo que conocemos, porque la salvación proviene de los judíos. 23 Pero se acerca la hora, y ha llegado ya, en que los verdaderos adoradores rendirán culto al Padre en espíritu y en verdad,[d] porque así quiere el Padre que sean los que le adoren. 24 Dios es espíritu, y quienes lo adoran deben hacerlo en espíritu y en verdad.
25 ―Sé que viene el Mesías, al que llaman el Cristo —respondió la mujer—. Cuando él venga nos explicará todas las cosas.
26 ―Ese soy yo, el que habla contigo —le dijo Jesús.
Los discípulos vuelven a reunirse con Jesús
27 En esto llegaron sus discípulos y se sorprendieron de verlo hablando con una mujer, aunque ninguno le preguntó: «¿Qué pretendes?» o «¿De qué hablas con ella?»
28 La mujer dejó su cántaro, volvió al pueblo y le decía a la gente:
29 ―Venid a ver a un hombre que me ha dicho todo lo que he hecho. ¿No será este el Cristo?
30 Salieron del pueblo y fueron a ver a Jesús. 31 Mientras tanto, sus discípulos le insistían:
―Rabí, come algo.
32 ―Yo tengo un alimento que vosotros no conocéis —replicó él.
33 «¿Le habrán traído algo de comer?», comentaban entre sí los discípulos.
34 ―Mi alimento es hacer la voluntad del que me envió y terminar su obra —les dijo Jesús—. 35 ¿No decís vosotros: “Todavía faltan cuatro meses para la cosecha”? Yo os digo: ¡Abrid los ojos y mirad los campos sembrados! Ya la cosecha está madura; 36 ya el segador recibe su salario y recoge el fruto para vida eterna. Ahora tanto el sembrador como el segador se alegran juntos. 37 Porque, como dice el refrán: “Uno es el que siembra y otro el que cosecha”. 38 Yo os he enviado a cosechar lo que no os costó ningún trabajo. Otros se han fatigado trabajando, y vosotros habéis cosechado el fruto de ese trabajo.
Muchos samaritanos creen en Jesús
39 Muchos de los samaritanos que vivían en aquel pueblo creyeron en él por el testimonio que daba la mujer: «Me dijo todo lo que he hecho». 40 Así que cuando los samaritanos fueron a su encuentro le insistieron en que se quedara con ellos. Jesús permaneció allí dos días, 41 y muchos más llegaron a creer por lo que él mismo decía.
42 ―Ya no creemos solo por lo que tú dijiste —le decían a la mujer—; ahora lo hemos oído nosotros mismos, y sabemos que verdaderamente este es el Salvador del mundo.
Jesús sana al hijo de un funcionario
43 Después de esos dos días, Jesús salió de allí rumbo a Galilea 44 (pues, como él mismo había dicho, a ningún profeta se le honra en su propia tierra). 45 Cuando llegó a Galilea, fue bien recibido por los galileos, pues estos habían visto personalmente todo lo que había hecho en Jerusalén durante la fiesta de la Pascua, ya que ellos habían estado también allí.
46 Y volvió otra vez Jesús a Caná de Galilea, donde había convertido el agua en vino. Había allí un funcionario real, cuyo hijo estaba enfermo en Capernaún. 47 Cuando este hombre se enteró de que Jesús había llegado de Judea a Galilea, fue a su encuentro y le suplicó que bajara a sanar a su hijo, pues estaba a punto de morir.
48 ―Nunca vais a creer a menos que veáis señales y prodigios —le dijo Jesús.
49 ―Señor —rogó el funcionario—, baja antes de que se muera mi hijo.
50 ―Vuelve a casa, que tu hijo vive —le dijo Jesús.
El hombre creyó lo que Jesús le dijo, y se fue. 51 Cuando se dirigía a su casa, sus siervos salieron a su encuentro y le dieron la noticia de que su hijo estaba vivo. 52 Cuando les preguntó a qué hora había comenzado su hijo a sentirse mejor, le contestaron:
―Ayer a la una de la tarde[e] se le quitó la fiebre.
53 Entonces el padre se dio cuenta de que precisamente a esa hora Jesús le había dicho: «Tu hijo vive». Así que creyó él con toda su familia.
54 Esta fue la segunda señal que hizo Jesús tras volver de Judea a Galilea.

Jesus Talks With a Samaritan Woman
4 Now Jesus learned that the Pharisees had heard that he was gaining and baptizing more disciples than John(A)— 2 although in fact it was not Jesus who baptized, but his disciples. 3 So he left Judea(B) and went back once more to Galilee.
4 Now he had to go through Samaria.(C) 5 So he came to a town in Samaria called Sychar, near the plot of ground Jacob had given to his son Joseph.(D) 6 Jacob’s well was there, and Jesus, tired as he was from the journey, sat down by the well. It was about noon.
7 When a Samaritan woman came to draw water, Jesus said to her, “Will you give me a drink?”(E) 8 (His disciples had gone into the town(F) to buy food.)
9 The Samaritan woman said to him, “You are a Jew and I am a Samaritan(G) woman. How can you ask me for a drink?” (For Jews do not associate with Samaritans.[a])
10 Jesus answered her, “If you knew the gift of God and who it is that asks you for a drink, you would have asked him and he would have given you living water.”(H)
11 “Sir,” the woman said, “you have nothing to draw with and the well is deep. Where can you get this living water? 12 Are you greater than our father Jacob, who gave us the well(I) and drank from it himself, as did also his sons and his livestock?”
13 Jesus answered, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again, 14 but whoever drinks the water I give them will never thirst.(J) Indeed, the water I give them will become in them a spring of water(K) welling up to eternal life.”(L)
15 The woman said to him, “Sir, give me this water so that I won’t get thirsty(M) and have to keep coming here to draw water.”
16 He told her, “Go, call your husband and come back.”
17 “I have no husband,” she replied.
Jesus said to her, “You are right when you say you have no husband. 18 The fact is, you have had five husbands, and the man you now have is not your husband. What you have just said is quite true.”
19 “Sir,” the woman said, “I can see that you are a prophet.(N) 20 Our ancestors worshiped on this mountain,(O) but you Jews claim that the place where we must worship is in Jerusalem.”(P)
21 “Woman,” Jesus replied, “believe me, a time is coming(Q) when you will worship the Father neither on this mountain nor in Jerusalem.(R) 22 You Samaritans worship what you do not know;(S) we worship what we do know, for salvation is from the Jews.(T) 23 Yet a time is coming and has now come(U) when the true worshipers will worship the Father in the Spirit(V) and in truth, for they are the kind of worshipers the Father seeks. 24 God is spirit,(W) and his worshipers must worship in the Spirit and in truth.”
25 The woman said, “I know that Messiah” (called Christ)(X) “is coming. When he comes, he will explain everything to us.”
26 Then Jesus declared, “I, the one speaking to you—I am he.”(Y)
The Disciples Rejoin Jesus
27 Just then his disciples returned(Z) and were surprised to find him talking with a woman. But no one asked, “What do you want?” or “Why are you talking with her?”
28 Then, leaving her water jar, the woman went back to the town and said to the people, 29 “Come, see a man who told me everything I ever did.(AA) Could this be the Messiah?”(AB) 30 They came out of the town and made their way toward him.
31 Meanwhile his disciples urged him, “Rabbi,(AC) eat something.”
32 But he said to them, “I have food to eat(AD) that you know nothing about.”
33 Then his disciples said to each other, “Could someone have brought him food?”
34 “My food,” said Jesus, “is to do the will(AE) of him who sent me and to finish his work.(AF) 35 Don’t you have a saying, ‘It’s still four months until harvest’? I tell you, open your eyes and look at the fields! They are ripe for harvest.(AG) 36 Even now the one who reaps draws a wage and harvests(AH) a crop for eternal life,(AI) so that the sower and the reaper may be glad together. 37 Thus the saying ‘One sows and another reaps’(AJ) is true. 38 I sent you to reap what you have not worked for. Others have done the hard work, and you have reaped the benefits of their labor.”
Many Samaritans Believe
39 Many of the Samaritans from that town(AK) believed in him because of the woman’s testimony, “He told me everything I ever did.”(AL) 40 So when the Samaritans came to him, they urged him to stay with them, and he stayed two days. 41 And because of his words many more became believers.
42 They said to the woman, “We no longer believe just because of what you said; now we have heard for ourselves, and we know that this man really is the Savior of the world.”(AM)
Jesus Heals an Official’s Son
43 After the two days(AN) he left for Galilee. 44 (Now Jesus himself had pointed out that a prophet has no honor in his own country.)(AO) 45 When he arrived in Galilee, the Galileans welcomed him. They had seen all that he had done in Jerusalem at the Passover Festival,(AP) for they also had been there.
46 Once more he visited Cana in Galilee, where he had turned the water into wine.(AQ) And there was a certain royal official whose son lay sick at Capernaum. 47 When this man heard that Jesus had arrived in Galilee from Judea,(AR) he went to him and begged him to come and heal his son, who was close to death.
48 “Unless you people see signs and wonders,”(AS) Jesus told him, “you will never believe.”
49 The royal official said, “Sir, come down before my child dies.”
50 “Go,” Jesus replied, “your son will live.”
The man took Jesus at his word and departed. 51 While he was still on the way, his servants met him with the news that his boy was living. 52 When he inquired as to the time when his son got better, they said to him, “Yesterday, at one in the afternoon, the fever left him.”
53 Then the father realized that this was the exact time at which Jesus had said to him, “Your son will live.” So he and his whole household(AT) believed.
54 This was the second sign(AU) Jesus performed after coming from Judea to Galilee.

3 He left Judaea, and departed again into Galilee.
4 And he must needs go through Samaria.
5 Then cometh he to a city of Samaria, which is called Sychar, near to the parcel of ground that Jacob gave to his son Joseph.
6 Now Jacob's well was there. Jesus therefore, being wearied with his journey, sat thus on the well: and it was about the sixth hour.
7 There cometh a woman of Samaria to draw water: Jesus saith unto her, Give me to drink.
8 (For his disciples were gone away unto the city to buy meat.)
9 Then saith the woman of Samaria unto him, How is it that thou, being a Jew, askest drink of me, which am a woman of Samaria? for the Jews have no dealings with the Samaritans.
10 Jesus answered and said unto her, If thou knewest the gift of God, and who it is that saith to thee, Give me to drink; thou wouldest have asked of him, and he would have given thee living water.
11 The woman saith unto him, Sir, thou hast nothing to draw with, and the well is deep: from whence then hast thou that living water?
12 Art thou greater than our father Jacob, which gave us the well, and drank thereof himself, and his children, and his cattle?
13 Jesus answered and said unto her, Whosoever drinketh of this water shall thirst again:
14 But whosoever drinketh of the water that I shall give him shall never thirst; but the water that I shall give him shall be in him a well of water springing up into everlasting life.
15 The woman saith unto him, Sir, give me this water, that I thirst not, neither come hither to draw.
16 Jesus saith unto her, Go, call thy husband, and come hither.
17 The woman answered and said, I have no husband. Jesus said unto her, Thou hast well said, I have no husband:
18 For thou hast had five husbands; and he whom thou now hast is not thy husband: in that saidst thou truly.
19 The woman saith unto him, Sir, I perceive that thou art a prophet.
20 Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship.
21 Jesus saith unto her, Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father.
22 Ye worship ye know not what: we know what we worship: for salvation is of the Jews.
23 But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him.
24 God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.
25 The woman saith unto him, I know that Messias cometh, which is called Christ: when he is come, he will tell us all things.
26 Jesus saith unto her, I that speak unto thee am he.
27 And upon this came his disciples, and marvelled that he talked with the woman: yet no man said, What seekest thou? or, Why talkest thou with her?
28 The woman then left her waterpot, and went her way into the city, and saith to the men,
29 Come, see a man, which told me all things that ever I did: is not this the Christ?
30 Then they went out of the city, and came unto him.
31 In the mean while his disciples prayed him, saying, Master, eat.
32 But he said unto them, I have meat to eat that ye know not of.
33 Therefore said the disciples one to another, Hath any man brought him ought to eat?
34 Jesus saith unto them, My meat is to do the will of him that sent me, and to finish his work.
35 Say not ye, There are yet four months, and then cometh harvest? behold, I say unto you, Lift up your eyes, and look on the fields; for they are white already to harvest.
36 And he that reapeth receiveth wages, and gathereth fruit unto life eternal: that both he that soweth and he that reapeth may rejoice together.
37 And herein is that saying true, One soweth, and another reapeth.
38 I sent you to reap that whereon ye bestowed no labour: other men laboured, and ye are entered into their labours.
39 And many of the Samaritans of that city believed on him for the saying of the woman, which testified, He told me all that ever I did.
40 So when the Samaritans were come unto him, they besought him that he would tarry with them: and he abode there two days.
41 And many more believed because of his own word;
42 And said unto the woman, Now we believe, not because of thy saying: for we have heard him ourselves, and know that this is indeed the Christ, the Saviour of the world.
43 Now after two days he departed thence, and went into Galilee.
44 For Jesus himself testified, that a prophet hath no honour in his own country.
45 Then when he was come into Galilee, the Galilaeans received him, having seen all the things that he did at Jerusalem at the feast: for they also went unto the feast.
46 So Jesus came again into Cana of Galilee, where he made the water wine. And there was a certain nobleman, whose son was sick at Capernaum.
47 When he heard that Jesus was come out of Judaea into Galilee, he went unto him, and besought him that he would come down, and heal his son: for he was at the point of death.
48 Then said Jesus unto him, Except ye see signs and wonders, ye will not believe.
49 The nobleman saith unto him, Sir, come down ere my child die.
50 Jesus saith unto him, Go thy way; thy son liveth. And the man believed the word that Jesus had spoken unto him, and he went his way.
51 And as he was now going down, his servants met him, and told him, saying, Thy son liveth.
52 Then enquired he of them the hour when he began to amend. And they said unto him, Yesterday at the seventh hour the fever left him.
53 So the father knew that it was at the same hour, in the which Jesus said unto him, Thy son liveth: and himself believed, and his whole house.
54 This is again the second miracle that Jesus did, when he was come out of Judaea into Galilee.
