17 And he bearing his cross went forth into a place called the place of a skull, which is called in the Hebrew Golgotha:
18 Where they crucified him, and two other with him, on either side one, and Jesus in the midst.
19 And Pilate wrote a title, and put it on the cross. And the writing was Jesus Of Nazareth The King Of The Jews.
20 This title then read many of the Jews: for the place where Jesus was crucified was nigh to the city: and it was written in Hebrew, and Greek, and Latin.
21 Then said the chief priests of the Jews to Pilate, Write not, The King of the Jews; but that he said, I am King of the Jews.
22 Pilate answered, What I have written I have written.
23 Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took his garments, and made four parts, to every soldier a part; and also his coat: now the coat was without seam, woven from the top throughout.
24 They said therefore among themselves, Let us not rend it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be: that the scripture might be fulfilled, which saith, They parted my raiment among them, and for my vesture they did cast lots. These things therefore the soldiers did.

17 Ježíš nesl svůj kříž až na místo jménem Lebka, hebrejsky zvané Golgota. 18 Tam ho ukřižovali a s ním dva jiné z obou stran a Ježíše uprostřed.
19 Pilát dal napsat a připevnit na kříž nápis tohoto znění:
JEŽÍŠ NAZARETSKÝ, ŽIDOVSKÝ KRÁL.
20 Ten nápis četlo mnoho Židů, neboť místo, kde byl Ježíš ukřižován, leželo poblíž města. A bylo to napsáno hebrejsky, řecky a latinsky.
21 Židovští vrchní kněží Pilátovi namítali: „Nepiš ‚Židovský král‘, ale ‚Tento říkal: Jsem židovský král.‘“
22 „Co jsem napsal, to jsem napsal,“ odpověděl Pilát.
23 Když vojáci Ježíše ukřižovali, vzali jeho šaty a rozpárali je na čtyři díly, pro každého vojáka jeden. Vzali mu i košili, a když zjistili, že je beze švů, odshora dolů utkaná vcelku, 24 řekli si spolu: „Netrhejme ji, raději losujme, komu připadne.“ Když to ti vojáci udělali, naplnilo se Písmo, jež říká:
„Rozdělili si mé šaty,
o mé roucho házeli los.“ [a]

17 (B)And He, bearing His cross, (C)went out to a place called the Place of a Skull, which is called in Hebrew, Golgotha, 18 where they crucified Him, and (D)two others with Him, one on either side, and Jesus in the center. 19 (E)Now Pilate wrote a title and put it on the cross. And the writing was:
JESUS OF NAZARETH, THE KING OF THE JEWS.
20 Then many of the Jews read this title, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city; and it was written in Hebrew, Greek, and Latin.
21 Therefore the chief priests of the Jews said to Pilate, “Do not write, ‘The King of the Jews,’ but, ‘He said, “I am the King of the Jews.” ’ ”
22 Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”
23 (F)Then the soldiers, when they had crucified Jesus, took His garments and made four parts, to each soldier a part, and also the tunic. Now the tunic was without seam, woven from the top in one piece. 24 They said therefore among themselves, “Let us not tear it, but cast lots for it, whose it shall be,” that the Scripture might be fulfilled which says:
(G)“They divided My garments among them,
And for My clothing they cast lots.”
Therefore the soldiers did these things.

17 Carrying his own cross,(A) he went out to the place of the Skull(B) (which in Aramaic(C) is called Golgotha). 18 There they crucified him, and with him two others(D)—one on each side and Jesus in the middle.
19 Pilate had a notice prepared and fastened to the cross. It read: jesus of nazareth,(E) the king of the jews.(F) 20 Many of the Jews read this sign, for the place where Jesus was crucified was near the city,(G) and the sign was written in Aramaic, Latin and Greek. 21 The chief priests of the Jews protested to Pilate, “Do not write ‘The King of the Jews,’ but that this man claimed to be king of the Jews.”(H)
22 Pilate answered, “What I have written, I have written.”
23 When the soldiers crucified Jesus, they took his clothes, dividing them into four shares, one for each of them, with the undergarment remaining. This garment was seamless, woven in one piece from top to bottom.
24 “Let’s not tear it,” they said to one another. “Let’s decide by lot who will get it.”
This happened that the scripture might be fulfilled(I) that said,
So this is what the soldiers did.
