3 約書亞便用火石做成刀子，在割禮山給以色列人行了割禮。 4 約書亞給他們舉行割禮，是因為所有從埃及出來、能夠作戰的男子都死在曠野的路上。 5 從埃及出來的男子都受過割禮，而後來在曠野出生的以色列人都沒有受過割禮。

New International Version
3 So Joshua made flint knives and circumcised the Israelites at Gibeath Haaraloth.[a]
4 Now this is why he did so: All those who came out of Egypt—all the men of military age(A)—died in the wilderness on the way after leaving Egypt.(B) 5 All the people that came out had been circumcised, but all the people born in the wilderness during the journey from Egypt had not.
