The Kings Conquered by Joshua

12 These are the kings of the land whom the Israelites[a] defeated, and of whose land they took possession beyond the Jordon to the east,[b] from the wadi[c] of Arnon up to Mount Hermon, and all the Arabah[d] to the east: 2 Sihon king of the Amorites, who lived in Heshbon, and ruled from Aroer, which is on the edge of the wadi[e] of Arnon, from the middle of the valley and half of Gilead, up to the Jabbok River,[f] which marks the border of the Ammonites;[g] 3 and the Arabah[h] up to the Kinnereth Sea[i] to the east, and as far as the sea of Arabah, the Salt Sea[j] to the east, in the direction of[k] Beth Jeshimoth, and to the area southward, at the foot of[l] the slopes of Pisgah;[m] 4 the territory of Og king of Bashan, one of the last of the Rephaites, who lived at Ashtaroth and Edrei 5 and ruled over Mount Hermon and Salecah and over all Bashan up to the border of the Geshurites[n] and the Maacathites,[o] and half of Gilead, as far as the border of Sihon king of Heshbon. 6 Moses Yahweh’s servant and the Israelites[p] defeated them; and Moses Yahweh’s servant gave it as a possession to the Reubenites,[q] the Gadites,[r] and the half-tribe of Manasseh.

7 These are the kings of the land whom Joshua and the Israelites[s] defeated beyond to the Jordan to the west, from Baal Gad in the valley of Lebanon,[t] and up to Mount Halak, which rises to Seir. And Joshua gave it as a possession to the tribes of Israel according to their allotments, 8 in the hill country, the Shephelah,[u] the Arabah,[v] on the slopes, in the wilderness, and in the Negev;[w] the Hittites,[x] the Amorites,[y] the Canaanites,[z] the Perizzites,[aa] the Hivites,[ab] and the Jebusites:[ac]

9 the king of Jericho, one; the king of Ai, which is beside Bethel, one;

10 the king of Jerusalem, one; the king of Hebron, one;

11 the king of Jarmuth, one; the king of Lachish, one;

12 the king of Eglon, one; the king of Gezer, one;

13 the king of Debir, one; the king of Geder, one;

14 the king of Hormah, one; the king of Arad, one;

15 the king of Libnah, one; the king of Adullam, one;

16 the king of Makkedah, one; the king of Bethel, one;

17 the king of Tappuah, one; the king of Hepher, one;

18 the king of Aphek, one; the king of Lasharon, one;

19 the king of Madon, one; the king of Hazor, one;

20 the king of Shimron-meron, one; the king of Acshaph, one;

21 the king of Taanach, one; the king of Megiddo, one;

22 the king of Kedesh, one; the king of Jokneam in Carmel, one;

23 the king of Dor in Naphath Dor, one; the king of Goiim for Gilgal, one;

24 the king of Tirzah, one; all the kings, thirty-one.

List of Defeated Kings

12 These are the kings of the land whom the Israelites had defeated and whose territory they took(A) over east of the Jordan,(B) from the Arnon(C) Gorge to Mount Hermon,(D) including all the eastern side of the Arabah:(E)

2 Sihon king of the Amorites, who reigned in Heshbon.(F)

He ruled from Aroer(G) on the rim of the Arnon Gorge—from the middle of the gorge—to the Jabbok River,(H) which is the border of the Ammonites.(I) This included half of Gilead.(J) 3 He also ruled over the eastern Arabah from the Sea of Galilee[a](K) to the Sea of the Arabah (that is, the Dead Sea(L)), to Beth Jeshimoth,(M) and then southward below the slopes of Pisgah.(N)

4 And the territory of Og king of Bashan,(O) one of the last of the Rephaites,(P) who reigned in Ashtaroth(Q) and Edrei.

5 He ruled over Mount Hermon, Salekah,(R) all of Bashan(S) to the border of the people of Geshur(T) and Maakah,(U) and half of Gilead(V) to the border of Sihon king of Heshbon.

6 Moses, the servant of the Lord, and the Israelites conquered them.(W) And Moses the servant of the Lord gave their land to the Reubenites, the Gadites and the half-tribe of Manasseh to be their possession.(X)

7 Here is a list of the kings of the land that Joshua and the Israelites conquered on the west side of the Jordan, from Baal Gad in the Valley of Lebanon(Y) to Mount Halak, which rises toward Seir. Joshua gave their lands as an inheritance to the tribes of Israel according to their tribal divisions. 8 The lands included the hill country, the western foothills, the Arabah, the mountain slopes, the wilderness and the Negev.(Z) These were the lands of the Hittites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites. 12 These are the kings of the land whom the children of Israel defeated, and whose land they possessed on the other side of the Jordan toward the rising of the sun, (B)from the River Arnon (C)to Mount Hermon, and all the eastern Jordan plain: 2 One king was (D)Sihon king of the Amorites, who dwelt in Heshbon and ruled half of Gilead, from Aroer, which is on the bank of the River Arnon, from the middle of that river, even as far as the River Jabbok, which is the border of the Ammonites, 3 and (E)the eastern Jordan plain from the [a]Sea of Chinneroth as far as the [b]Sea of the Arabah (the Salt Sea), (F)the road to Beth Jeshimoth, and [c]southward below (G)the[d] slopes of Pisgah. 4 The other king was (H)Og king of Bashan and his territory, who was of (I)the remnant of the giants, (J)who dwelt at Ashtaroth and at Edrei, 5 and reigned over (K)Mount Hermon, (L)over Salcah, over all Bashan, (M)as far as the border of the Geshurites and the Maachathites, and over half of Gilead to the border of Sihon king of Heshbon.

6 (N)These Moses the servant of the Lord and the children of Israel had conquered; and (O)Moses the servant of the Lord had given it as a possession to the Reubenites, the Gadites, and half the tribe of Manasseh.
