約伯記 42

42 約伯回答耶和華說：
2 「我知道你無所不能，
你的旨意無不成就。
3 你問，『誰用無知的話使我的旨意晦暗不明？』
誠然，我對自己所談論的事一無所知，
這些事太奇妙，我無法明白。
4 你說，『你且聽著，我要發言。
我來提問，你來回答。』
5 我從前風聞有你，
現在親眼看見你。
6 因此我厭惡自己，
在塵土和爐灰中懺悔。」
結語
7 耶和華對約伯說完這些話後，就對提幔人以利法說：「你和你的兩個朋友令我憤怒，因為你們對我的議論不如我僕人約伯說的有理。 8 現在你們要取七頭公牛和七隻公羊，到我僕人約伯那裡，為自己獻上燔祭，因為你們對我的議論不如我僕人約伯說的有理。我僕人約伯會為你們禱告，我會悅納他的禱告，不按你們的愚妄懲罰你們。」 9 於是，提幔人以利法、書亞人比勒達和拿瑪人瑣法遵命而行，耶和華悅納了約伯的禱告。
10 約伯為朋友們禱告後，耶和華恢復了他以前的昌盛，並且耶和華賜給他的比以前多一倍。 11 約伯的兄弟姊妹和從前的朋友都來探望他，在他家裡一同吃飯，為他遭受耶和華所降的種種災難而安撫、慰問他。他們每人送他一塊銀子和一個金環。
12 耶和華賜給約伯晚年的福分比起初更多：他有一萬四千隻羊、六千隻駱駝、一千對牛和一千頭母驢。 13 他還有七個兒子和三個女兒。 14 他給長女取名叫耶米瑪、次女叫基洗亞、三女叫基連·哈樸。 15 那地方找不到像約伯三個女兒那樣美麗的女子。約伯讓她們與弟兄一同承受產業。 16 此後，約伯又活了一百四十年，得見四代子孫。 17 約伯年紀老邁，壽終正寢。

Giobbe si ravvede e si umilia
42 (A)Allora Giobbe rispose al Signore e disse:
2 «Io riconosco che tu puoi tutto e che nulla può impedirti di eseguire un tuo disegno.
3 Chi è colui che senza intelligenza offusca il tuo disegno? Sì, ne ho parlato, ma non lo capivo; sono cose per me troppo meravigliose e io non le conosco.
4 Ti prego, ascoltami, e io parlerò; ti farò delle domande e tu insegnami!
5 Il mio orecchio aveva sentito parlare di te, ma ora l’occhio mio ti ha visto.
6 Perciò mi ravvedo, mi pento sulla polvere e sulla cenere».
Giobbe riacquista la prosperità
7 (B)Dopo che ebbe rivolto questi discorsi a Giobbe, il Signore disse a Elifaz di Teman: «La mia ira è accesa contro di te e contro i tuoi due amici, perché non avete parlato di me secondo la verità, come ha fatto il mio servo Giobbe. 8 Ora dunque prendete sette tori e sette montoni, andate a trovare il mio servo Giobbe e offriteli in olocausto per voi stessi. Il mio servo Giobbe pregherà per voi e io avrò riguardo a lui per non punire la vostra follia, poiché non avete parlato di me secondo la verità, come ha fatto il mio servo Giobbe».
9 Elifaz di Teman, Bildad di Suac e Zofar di Naama se ne andarono e fecero come il Signore aveva loro ordinato; e il Signore ebbe riguardo per Giobbe.
10 Quando Giobbe ebbe pregato per i suoi amici, il Signore lo ristabilì nella condizione di prima e gli rese il doppio di tutto quello che già gli era appartenuto.
11 Tutti i suoi fratelli, tutte le sue sorelle e tutte le sue conoscenze di prima vennero a trovarlo, mangiarono con lui in casa sua, lo confortarono e lo consolarono di tutti i mali che il Signore gli aveva fatto cadere addosso; e ognuno di loro gli diede un pezzo d’argento[a] e un anello d’oro.
12 Il Signore benedì gli ultimi anni di Giobbe più dei primi; ed egli ebbe quattordicimila pecore, seimila cammelli, mille paia di buoi e mille asine. 13 Ebbe pure sette figli e tre figlie; 14 e chiamò la prima Gemima[b], la seconda Chesia[c] e la terza Cheren-Appuc[d]. 15 In tutto il paese non c’erano donne così belle come le figlie di Giobbe; e il padre assegnò loro un’eredità tra i loro fratelli.
16 Giobbe, dopo questo, visse centoquarant’anni, e vide i suoi figli e i figli dei suoi figli fino alla quarta generazione.
17 Poi Giobbe morì vecchio e sazio di giorni.

42 Then Job answered the Lord, and said,
2 I know that thou canst do every thing, and that no thought can be withholden from thee.
3 Who is he that hideth counsel without knowledge? therefore have I uttered that I understood not; things too wonderful for me, which I knew not.
4 Hear, I beseech thee, and I will speak: I will demand of thee, and declare thou unto me.
5 I have heard of thee by the hearing of the ear: but now mine eye seeth thee.
6 Wherefore I abhor myself, and repent in dust and ashes.
7 And it was so, that after the Lord had spoken these words unto Job, the Lord said to Eliphaz the Temanite, My wrath is kindled against thee, and against thy two friends: for ye have not spoken of me the thing that is right, as my servant Job hath.
8 Therefore take unto you now seven bullocks and seven rams, and go to my servant Job, and offer up for yourselves a burnt offering; and my servant Job shall pray for you: for him will I accept: lest I deal with you after your folly, in that ye have not spoken of me the thing which is right, like my servant Job.
9 So Eliphaz the Temanite and Bildad the Shuhite and Zophar the Naamathite went, and did according as the Lord commanded them: the Lord also accepted Job.
10 And the Lord turned the captivity of Job, when he prayed for his friends: also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.
11 Then came there unto him all his brethren, and all his sisters, and all they that had been of his acquaintance before, and did eat bread with him in his house: and they bemoaned him, and comforted him over all the evil that the Lord had brought upon him: every man also gave him a piece of money, and every one an earring of gold.
12 So the Lord blessed the latter end of Job more than his beginning: for he had fourteen thousand sheep, and six thousand camels, and a thousand yoke of oxen, and a thousand she asses.
13 He had also seven sons and three daughters.
14 And he called the name of the first, Jemima; and the name of the second, Kezia; and the name of the third, Kerenhappuch.
15 And in all the land were no women found so fair as the daughters of Job: and their father gave them inheritance among their brethren.
16 After this lived Job an hundred and forty years, and saw his sons, and his sons' sons, even four generations.
17 So Job died, being old and full of days.
