Hoffnung für Alle
37 Auch mein Herz klopft vor Angst,
wenn das Gewitter naht;
es schlägt immer schneller.
2 Hört ihr, wie der Donner rollt?
Hört ihr Gottes Stimme?
Welch ein Grollen kommt aus seinem Mund!
3 Er lässt den Donner los –
der ganze Himmel ist davon erfüllt,
und seine Blitze zucken weithin über die Erde!
4 Dann brüllt der Donner;
ja, Gottes mächtige Stimme erklingt.
Und wieder zucken die Blitze,
und wieder kracht der Donner.
5 Gott lässt es donnern –
seine Stimme überwältigt uns;
er vollbringt große Wunder,
die wir nicht begreifen.
6 Zum Schnee sagt er: ›Fall zur Erde nieder!‹,
und zum Regen: ›Werde zur Sturzflut!‹
7 So hindert er uns Menschen an der Arbeit,[a]
damit wir alle sehen, was er tut.
8 Die wilden Tiere verkriechen sich
und bleiben in ihren Höhlen.
9 Aus seiner Kammer kommt der Sturm,
die Nordwinde bringen beißende Kälte.
10 Der Atem Gottes lässt das Eis entstehen,
die weite Wasseroberfläche ist erstarrt.
11 Er füllt die Wolken mit Wasser
und lässt seine Blitze hindurchzucken.
12 Die Wolken ziehen hin und her,
wie er sie lenkt;
auf der ganzen Erde führen sie aus,
was Gott ihnen befiehlt.
13 Mal lässt er sie zur Strafe kommen für ein Land,
mal als Zeichen seiner Güte.
14 Hör es dir an, Hiob!
Steh still und denke über Gottes Wundertaten nach!
15 Weißt du, wie er die Wolken lenkt
und wie er seine Blitze zucken lässt?
16 Weißt du, wie die Wolken schweben,
diese Wunderwerke aus vollkommener Meisterhand?
17 Du schwitzt ja schon,
wenn die drückende Hitze des Südwinds auf dem Land liegt.
18 Wie kannst du dann Gott helfen,
den blauen Himmel auszubreiten,
fest wie ein Spiegel, aus Bronze gegossen?
19 Teile uns mit, was wir ihm sagen sollen!
Denn wir tappen im Dunkeln
und können unseren Fall nicht vorbringen.
20 Soll es Gott verkündet werden,
dass ich mit ihm zu reden wünsche?
Niemals! Wer das wagt,
wird sicher von ihm verschlungen werden.
21 Jetzt hat der Wind die Wolken weggefegt,
und die Sonne strahlt so hell,
dass niemand von uns in ihr Licht schauen kann.
22 Von Norden naht ein goldener Glanz.
Gott kommt in furchterregender Majestät.
23 Ihn, den Gewaltigen, erreichen wir nicht.
Groß ist seine Kraft,
und er ist reich an Gerechtigkeit.
Niemals unterdrückt er das Recht!
24 Darum fürchtet ihn, ihr Menschen!
Er lässt sich von keinem blenden,
wie weise er auch ist!«

37 Des entsetzt sich mein Herz und bebt.
2 O höret doch, wie der Donner zürnt, und was für Gespräch von seinem Munde ausgeht!
3 Er läßt ihn hinfahren unter allen Himmeln, und sein Blitz scheint auf die Enden der Erde.
4 Ihm nach brüllt der Donner, und er donnert mit seinem großen Schall; und wenn sein Donner gehört wird, kann man's nicht aufhalten.
5 Gott donnert mit seinem Donner wunderbar und tut große Dinge und wird doch nicht erkannt.
6 Er spricht zum Schnee, so ist er bald auf Erden, und zum Platzregen, so ist der Platzregen da mit Macht.
7 Aller Menschen Hand hält er verschlossen, daß die Leute lernen, was er tun kann.
8 Das wilde Tier geht in seine Höhle und bleibt an seinem Ort.
9 Von Mittag her kommt Wetter und von Mitternacht Kälte.
10 Vom Odem Gottes kommt Frost, und große Wasser ziehen sich eng zusammen.
11 Die Wolken beschwert er mit Wasser, und durch das Gewölk bricht sein Licht.
12 Er kehrt die Wolken, wo er hin will, daß sie schaffen alles, was er ihnen gebeut, auf dem Erdboden:
13 es sei zur Züchtigung über ein Land oder zur Gnade, läßt er sie kommen.
14 Da merke auf, Hiob, stehe und vernimm die Wunder Gottes!
15 Weißt du wie Gott solches über sie bringt und wie er das Licht aus seinen Wolken läßt hervorbrechen?
16 Weißt du wie sich die Wolken ausstreuen, die Wunder des, der vollkommen ist an Wissen?
17 Du, des Kleider warm sind, wenn das Land still ist vom Mittagswinde,
18 ja, du wirst mit ihm den Himmel ausbreiten, der fest ist wie ein gegossener Spiegel.
19 Zeige uns, was wir ihm sagen sollen; denn wir können nichts vorbringen vor Finsternis.
20 Wer wird ihm erzählen, daß ich wolle reden? So jemand redet, der wird verschlungen.
21 Jetzt sieht man das Licht nicht, das am Himmel hell leuchtet; wenn aber der Wind weht, so wird's klar.
22 Von Mitternacht kommt Gold; um Gott her ist schrecklicher Glanz.
23 Den Allmächtigen aber können wir nicht finden, der so groß ist von Kraft; das Recht und eine gute Sache beugt er nicht.
24 Darum müssen ihn fürchten die Leute; und er sieht keinen an, wie weise sie sind.

2 Hear attentively the noise of his voice, and the sound that goeth out of his mouth.
3 He directeth it under the whole heaven, and his lightning unto the ends of the earth.
4 After it a voice roareth: he thundereth with the voice of his excellency; and he will not stay them when his voice is heard.
5 God thundereth marvellously with his voice; great things doeth he, which we cannot comprehend.
6 For he saith to the snow, Be thou on the earth; likewise to the small rain, and to the great rain of his strength.
7 He sealeth up the hand of every man; that all men may know his work.
8 Then the beasts go into dens, and remain in their places.
9 Out of the south cometh the whirlwind: and cold out of the north.
10 By the breath of God frost is given: and the breadth of the waters is straitened.
11 Also by watering he wearieth the thick cloud: he scattereth his bright cloud:
12 And it is turned round about by his counsels: that they may do whatsoever he commandeth them upon the face of the world in the earth.
13 He causeth it to come, whether for correction, or for his land, or for mercy.
14 Hearken unto this, O Job: stand still, and consider the wondrous works of God.
15 Dost thou know when God disposed them, and caused the light of his cloud to shine?
16 Dost thou know the balancings of the clouds, the wondrous works of him which is perfect in knowledge?
17 How thy garments are warm, when he quieteth the earth by the south wind?
18 Hast thou with him spread out the sky, which is strong, and as a molten looking glass?
19 Teach us what we shall say unto him; for we cannot order our speech by reason of darkness.
20 Shall it be told him that I speak? if a man speak, surely he shall be swallowed up.
21 And now men see not the bright light which is in the clouds: but the wind passeth, and cleanseth them.
22 Fair weather cometh out of the north: with God is terrible majesty.
23 Touching the Almighty, we cannot find him out: he is excellent in power, and in judgment, and in plenty of justice: he will not afflict.
24 Men do therefore fear him: he respecteth not any that are wise of heart.

and leaps from its place.
2 Listen!(B) Listen to the roar of his voice,(C)
to the rumbling that comes from his mouth.(D)
3 He unleashes his lightning(E) beneath the whole heaven
and sends it to the ends of the earth.(F)
4 After that comes the sound of his roar;
he thunders(G) with his majestic voice.(H)
When his voice resounds,
he holds nothing back.
5 God’s voice thunders(I) in marvelous ways;(J)
he does great things beyond our understanding.(K)
6 He says to the snow,(L) ‘Fall on the earth,’
and to the rain shower, ‘Be a mighty downpour.’(M)
7 So that everyone he has made may know his work,(N)

15 Do you know how God controls the clouds

those wonders of him who has perfect knowledge?(AF)
17 You who swelter in your clothes
when the land lies hushed under the south wind,(AG)
18 can you join him in spreading out the skies,(AH)
hard as a mirror of cast bronze?(AI)
19 “Tell us what we should say to him;(AJ)
we cannot draw up our case(AK) because of our darkness.(AL)
20 Should he be told that I want to speak?
Would anyone ask to be swallowed up?
21 Now no one can look at the sun,(AM)
bright as it is in the skies
after the wind has swept them clean.
22 Out of the north he comes in golden splendor;(AN)
God comes in awesome majesty.(AO)
23 The Almighty is beyond our reach and exalted in power;(AP)
in his justice(AQ) and great righteousness, he does not oppress.(AR)
24 Therefore, people revere him,(AS)
for does he not have regard for all the wise(AT) in heart?[b]”
