約伯自言願詣神陳述其冤
23 約伯回答說： 2 「如今我的哀告還算為悖逆，我的責罰比我的唉哼還重。 3 唯願我能知道在哪裡可以尋見神，能到他的臺前， 4 我就在他面前將我的案件陳明，滿口辯白。 5 我必知道他回答我的言語，明白他向我所說的話。 6 他豈用大能與我爭辯嗎？必不這樣，他必理會我。 7 在他那裡，正直人可以與他辯論，這樣，我必永遠脫離那審判我的。 8 只是我往前行，他不在那裡；往後退，也不能見他。 9 他在左邊行事，我卻不能看見；在右邊隱藏，我也不能見他。 10 然而他知道我所行的路，他試煉我之後，我必如精金。
自言守道弗違
11 「我腳追隨他的步履，我謹守他的道，並不偏離。 12 他嘴唇的命令，我未曾背棄；我看重他口中的言語，過於我需用的飲食。 13 只是他心志已定，誰能使他轉意呢？他心裡所願的，就行出來。 14 他向我所定的，就必做成。這類的事，他還有許多。 15 所以我在他面前驚惶，我思念這事，便懼怕他。 16 神使我喪膽，全能者使我驚惶。 17 我的恐懼不是因為黑暗，也不是因為幽暗蒙蔽我的臉。

约伯的回答
23 约伯回答说：
2 “我的哀诉至今充满苦楚，
祂的责罚使我呻吟不止。
3 但愿我知道何处能寻见上帝，
知道怎样去祂的居所。
4 我好在祂面前陈明案情，
滔滔不绝地为自己申辩；
5 我好知道祂的答复，
看看祂对我说什么。
6 祂会用大能与我争辩吗？
不会的，祂会垂听我的申诉，
7 允许正直的人与祂理论，
审判者会让我永远脱罪。
8 “然而，我去东边，祂不在那里；
我到西边，也找不到祂。
9 祂在北边工作，我看不见祂；
祂转到南边，我也看不见祂。
10 但祂知道我的一举一动，
我被祂试炼后必如纯金。
11 我紧随祂的脚步，
持守祂的道，没有偏离。
12 我没有违背祂的诫命，
我珍视祂的话语胜过我日用的饮食。
13 祂独行其事，谁能阻挡祂？
祂按自己的意愿行事。
14 祂在我身上的计划必然实现，

Job’s Eighth Speech: A Response to Eliphaz
23 Then[a] Job answered and said,
2 “Even today my complaint is bitter;
my hand is heavy in addition to my groaning.
3 O that[b] I knew and that I might find him;
O that I might come to his dwelling.
4 I would lay my case before him,[c]
and I would fill my mouth with arguments.
5 I want to know the words with which he would answer me,
and I want to understand what he would say to me.
6 Would he contend with me in the greatness of his strength?
No, but he himself[d] would give heed to me.
7 There an upright person could reason with him,
and I would be acquitted forever by my judge.
8 “When I go forward, he is not there,[e]
or[f] backward, I cannot see him.[g]
9 When he works[h] on the left, I cannot perceive[i] him;
he turns to the right, but[j] I cannot see him.
10 But he knows the way that I take;[k]
he tests me—I shall come out like gold.
11 My foot has held on to his steps;
I have kept his way, and I have not turned aside.
12 From the commandment of his lips, indeed[l] I have not departed;
I have treasured the words of his mouth more than my daily food.
13 “But[m] he is alone,[n] and who can dissuade him?
And whatever he desires,[o] indeed,[p] he does it.
14 For he will carry out what he appoints for me,[q]
and many things like these are with him.
15 Therefore, I am horrified because of his presence;
when I consider, I tremble[r] because of him.
16 Indeed,[s] God has made my heart faint,
and Shaddai has terrified me.
17 Indeed, I have not been silenced because of darkness,[t]
and because of me he[u] conceals thick darkness.
